After a long day in the woods, we couldn't have asked for a better meal. Deano and his co-worker (missed his name) were just fantastic. Omg, I must say that I ordered the ribs and links, and also the tri tip and link dinners. Comes with two sides. I got Cole slaw, which is out of this world, definitely not store bought. The atmosphere is pleasant, and It wasn't busy at the moment. You can play pool. The cook and the server/bar back are super sweet. It's definitely a game changer if you ask me. I tried Hungry Al's for the first time last Weds, we ordered the half chicken and pulled pork sandwich. Both were delicious, generous portions of flavorful smoked meats. Coleslaw and beans were really good, the beans were a bit spicy for me, but so good I ordered them again the next time. My wife and I stopped by Hungry Al's BBQ on our way back from camping in the Mt Shasta area and I'm very happy we did. We ordered two tri tip sandwiches, the baked potato with chile, and a couple cold brews. The meal was delicious!!! I'm glad we got there when we did because we got the last two servings of tri tip. The restaurant is family run and has a friendly atmosphere and comfortable tables and booths both inside and out. The location is perfect...it's close enough to the 5 freeway and there are gas stations to fill up. I've had BBQ all over the US and Hungry Al's is among the best I've had the pleasure of trying. This place is great! Driving back from Napa and needed to grab some food on the grapevine and SO HAPPY we stopped here! The food was amazing and fresh! We only got the pulled pork as our meat and it hit the spot! They unfortunately were out of the Mac and cheese but it was kind of a blessing in disguise because we got to adventure out and try the potato salad, baked beans, and Mac salad. Ribs were parboiled and could not have spent more than a few minutes on the Q because the fat had not even begun to crisp up. Three ribs topped with a reasonably good sauce and two small sides approached $30.00. Run of the mill generic beers, $5.00. I would have preferred a rack of baby back ribs at that price. I tried the brisket and the hot links during my stay and they were both delicious and the barbecue sauce served with it was spicy and flavorful. We've been to Hungry Al's a few times. The atmosphere is fun, the owners are friendly and personable. Even the guests are talkative and nice while waiting for their food. The food...OMG, so good. My husband typically gets the Tri tip sandwich, which is wonderful, the meat is tender and juicy. My "go to" is the rib plate...they are perfectly seasoned and so tender they fall off the bone. They are typically busy, but the service is great, they get the food out to you in a reasonable amount of time. We are so glad they are here on the mountain. read more

We've been waiting for Hungry Al's to open for some time now. I stopped in the day before, to check the menu and was greeted by Al himself. I was taken by how clean and fun the place looked and told him I'd be back the next day around 4pm with a party of five. Unbelievably, Al's kids surprised him and his wife with instructions to take a few days off, head out of town for a few days, for a rest. When we arrived today, he and his wife made sure they remained to greet us and served up the best BBQ we've ever had. They wanted to make sure we were happy. Can you believe it? That's beyond cool. Finally made it in to Hungry Al's BBQ after a day at Gorman dirt biking. I read some of the reviews and was eager to give them a try. Naturally I went for a typical bbq staple and ordered the ribs. I was pretty bummed when the food arrived, as I only received 3 small ribs, a scoop of coleslaw, and a small bowl of mac and cheese, which was the best part of the meal. The ribs were tough and had been sitting under a heat lamp for goodness knows how long. It seems they lathered them with fresh bbq sauce before they served them, but that didn't help much. If the ribs are no good, it's not a bbq joint. Even my friend who joined me for dinner was shocked when he saw my plate and asked if I was going to say something after paying close to $30. Only reason I'm posting is that other reviews are coming through saying the same thing and I hope that management reads these reviews and fix whatever went wrong between the good reviews and the new ones.
