I visited Shaver Lake for a couple of days, and this local joint was highly recommended. Hungry Hut is an unassuming burger spot with a simple menu. There are two counters to order, and we ordered at the inside counter. The menu was easy to read. I was feeling a little hungrier than usual, so I ordered the Double American burger with everything on it and a side of fries and onion ring combo. It more than filled me up. I took an eagerly-awaiting bite into the freshly made burger, and the flavors were on point. The patties were thick and seasoned well. The fries and onion rings were light and crispy. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and now I wish I could have revisited to try the shakes and the chicken sandwich. Service was friendly. Seating was outdoors with umbrellas, which are perfect on a warm afternoon. I highly recommend stopping by Hungry Hut for a bite. read more

This place is good. We went on a Monday and it was packed. I think it they are going to be open during the wintertime they should have patio heaters or something since there isn't really a place to eat indoors to stay warm. We ordered a few burgers and a kids hotdog. The hotdog bun fell apart right away which made a mess for my daughter. The burgers were good but for $8-10 they don't come with fries. So you're looking at an extra $3 which I think is a little pricy. It's a quick grab in go so if you're not trying to have a sit down lunch or dinner this is the place. read more

The owner was incredibly rude. We ordered two combo fries/onion rings, shared between two couples. One had four average sized onion rings, the other had three onion rings, two of which were small and over browned. Asked for one additional onion rings and owner/manager started babbling about combo having three large or four small onion rings per order. He flat out denied my polite request. After spending over $120 for four, I was appalled at how rude and dismissive he was. I guess business is so good, losing a customer is just business as usual. Extremely disappointed today. We have been coming to hungry hut for a long time and the last couple times the quality has just been crap. We ordered the over priced food today and nobody in our party liked the food. The hamburgers and cheeseburgers are just frozen patties with no seasoning. We also made the mistake of paying 6 dollars for fries and it was only 1/3 full. McDonald's happy meals give more fries. RIP Hut Burger, we will just grab shaver lake pizza from now on. read more

I would not return after a dishonest tip that was added to my order. This owner seem to be sneaky and misleading as she works the register. When I confronted her about the charge she told me that I should have paid better attention as a customer. Personally, the Hungry Hut has never let me down. It is a very small joint in Shaver Lake serving burgers, fries, shakes, sandwiches, etc, so depending on the time of year and time of day, you could be waiting a long time to order and get your food. However, when you do get your food, it is so good! There's nothing like a grilled cheese, fries, and a milkshake after hiking up to Kaiser Peak in the summer or snowshoeing/skiing in the winter! It is always a highlight after a long day of outdoor activities. The food is very reasonably priced - $5.75 for a very big milkshake, $6 for a grilled cheese. The fries portions are big and they're seasoned well. It's very simple food, but so delicious. Other logistics: Indoor space is limited, something to think about in the wintertime - the two tables inside were already taken, so we ate inside my car. They do have outdoor seating but not too many lights or heaters. Parking can be limited as well. Don't let this stop you though, the Hungry Hut is definitely worth a visit if you're visiting the area! read more

Had the hut burger and their onion rings and fries combo! Onion rings and fries were crispy and the burger was delicious, a tad bit dry, but they did offer bbq sauce or ranch on the side. The cashier was really friendly, and the service was moderately fast. There were a lot of people in line and also waiting for their food, but didn't take more than 15 minutes to get our food. The food is decent when they actually get your order right. The prices are ridiculous, the portions are decent. The young lady taking our order isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. We ordered a cheeseburger ($11.50) as a combo and extra fries ($5.99) total came out to about $20. She brings us a burger and 1 fry, no drink. Says that they don't sell combos... she didn't say anything about this when I placed and PAID for the order. They also charge .75 for a tiny side of bbq sauce or ranch. No receipt was given either which always irks me. While we were there, about 45 minutes, there were 3 others customers who had their orders wrong as well. Two kids meals and one adult meal (Hut burger, fries/rings and med drink) was just under $37. They gave us a buzzer and we waited for our food. Outside seating, weather was nice, it's all good. The first time they buzz us, they give us a bag of food that is clearly not ours. So they take it back and give us our buzzer back to wait again. It took quite a while, but we had good company so it seemed ok. But when those sitting at our table finished their food and we still didn't have ours we thought we should check back. We go back to the pick up counter where another customer walks up with a bag of food and tells the server "this isn't my order." Turns out it was ours. And of course they served it to someone else so we get to wait again for them to remake our food. Conclusion: the food tasted good when we finally got it, but it sorta wasn't worth the 40 minutes we waited. Hungry Hut, your appetite is what the name says. You will be hungry when your done bc you can't stomach the chicken or burgers enough to finish. The shakes however and onion rings are great. The burger is a 1/4 pound o remade frozen hockey puck and it's exactly how it's cooked, hockey puck (well done). And you need to ask for extra bbq sauce on the Hut burger bc there is barely enough to even lightly moisten the bun. Also if you want the garden you need ask for it. No lettuce tomato or onion on my burger which would have helped I am certain. My fiancé had the chicken sandwich which sounds good but is way over cooked, and they are using a 5 ounce chicken breast on a steak roll made for a double breast or larger. Hers at least had the garden, but it didn't help the dryness of the chicken that was way over cooked. read more

We came in on memorial day afternoon around one pm there was a small line so the wait wasn't too long. Like. 5 min to get to the cashier. We ordered our food which was a cheeseburger combo fries and a onion rings and a soft serve ice cream. The vanilla wasn't working so I had to eat just chocolate. They had various choices of milkshake flavors which sounded delicious. Flavors like Oreo cookie, peppermint, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and some other flavors. The milkshake was great and so were the fries and onion rings. But that's about it. The burger was okay and could hardly taste the cheese. The burger bun was thick kind of like a pretzel bun but fluffier. It was just OK. The service was decent everyone was nice. They're pretty organized as far as using these pagers to let you know when the food is ready. There is plenty of seating and in the shade which was nice. Stopped by on a Monday night with no crowds. My daughter ordered a Grilled Cheese which was soggy and not toasted properly. I had a cheese burger and fries.
