Stopped by for brunch and would never go again. The $8 fries were terrible - limp, cold, bland. The spinach dip was okay but also bland. The margherita pizza had a strange texture. It was very thin but not crispy. The taste was okay but it didn't feel like a pizza. The waffle was cold and squishy. I genuinely rather have a frozen eggo waffle. The whole meal was not good and way overpriced. The ambience was also strange and it kept feeling hot or cold and smelled weird. Do not recommend. read more

We ordered meatloaf & a burger. The meatloaf came w/ mashed potatoes & they can w/ a sauce. I asked to any sauce options that were not spicy & I was told the only choice I had was feta ranch. I opted for no sauce & was offered fries, instead. Idk if the mashed potatoes are premade w/ the sauce or what. Then my husband ordered the classic cheddar burger w/o tomatoes or mayo. When it came it not o my had tomatoes, but avocado was added. He doesn't eat avocado. For the price, the very least they can do it make the burger as ordered. The bathrooms are a horror story. The men's room floor was wet/slippery. The Women's bathroom needed to be cleaned. Also, there is no AC or music in that area, so it's a very uncomfortable situation. read more

A resounding 5 stars, and here's why: This review is as hot off the press as can be, as I just put my fork down from finishing my leftovers from my last visit. Background: my family catered meals from Hungry's when I was younger, so perhaps I took it for granted. It wasn't until I moved into the neighborhood last year that I started driving by this Hungry's, and every time, I'd make a mental note to give it another try. This exercise went on for a year, until just a few weeks ago. Impromptu lunch date, and we were trying to decide where to go. "Hey, we've been meaning to try Hungry's!" So we pull up, it's barely 11 am, and we're seated right away. What a pleasant surprise to be handed a regular menu as well as a vegan menu from their sister restaurant next door, Heartbeet. [Side bar to note what a cute and clever name that is for a vegan restaurant]. We've been trying to eat more plant-based, and that menu is awesome! I immediately knew that I'd have to try everything on there. Fast forward about 3 weeks, and we've been 4 or 5 times already. We've ordered from the regular and vegan menus, and nothing has disappointed us. My favorites so far have been the crispy eggplant tacos, nutritious bowl, fusion bowl, and curry bowl. And oh my goodness the vegan burger and sweet potato fries were among the best things I've ever tasted. They're all good-sized portions, and I've made 2 meals from each. Non-vegan options were equally good. The burger, gyro, pizzas: all delicious! It gets pretty busy at lunch, probably from the Energy Corridor crowd, so come early or prepare to be there a bit. The only thing that would make me love it even more would be to have nutritional facts for the menu items. As it is, my efforts to track my meals get a little wonky, but it's totally worth it! read more

Not as good as the Rice Village location. I didn't know I was in the matrix because of the service was slow mo. Not to be a brat what is a previous server is the goal to expect and meet the needs of the costumer, I should not have to ask for utensils or a refill or the check. The raspberry lemonade was phenomenal. But that was about it the chicken and waffles is underwhelming. I remembered the migas being a lot better than were. Came here on a Wednesday night with some friends. The food was good. We all really enjoyed the jalapeño hummus, it was delicious. I got the special which was steak with chimichurri sauce on top and a side of potatoes. I really enjoyed my dish however I asked for medium rare & received medium or well done. It was still good but I think I would have enjoyed it better if it was medium rare. The staff was so nice and polite. read more

First time visiting Houston and this restaurant made my vacation whole. The food was phenomenal including vegan options which are so hard to find and not to mention the freshness. However what made my day was the service, my waiter was Jose Morales and he was so knowledgeable and patient with my questions and requests. He even went out of his way to make sure my little one felt right at home, letting her order by herself. Plus he made sure her dish came out first and all. Not sure if all the waiters are like Jose but he was very passionate and dedicated to his customers. I will definitely come back for the service and food. read more

Stopped by after church to give it a try after some time. Patio looked nice so we were seated outside. After 15 minutes of food and drinks being delivered to all the tables around us and the manager checking on several tables around us we finally got up to leave. As we were walking out we told the manager we were leaving because of the lack of service- he sounded surprised and asked where we were sitting to which I responded "at the table right behind the one you visited and checked on". Needless to say we won't be going back for a long time. I don't understand how a hostess can seat you at a table with menus and no one can come back by to drop off waters and let us know we would be taken care of. Terrible service! read more

So much more than just a brunch place. They have great food for lunch and dinner. Service and menu offerings are good. Can be a bit on the pricey side, but happy hour is really good at bar next door owned by same people. read more

We were lucky to get our same server Amanda who was still as friendly as before. There was a different manager this time, Rebecca, who was also fantastic. Ordered the grill chicken and vegetables. My chicken tasted as if it was microwave or boiling in water. It also had the "fake grill marks" just so they can call it grilled. It was basically like a subway chicken patty. I spent 80 bucks on lunch and it was absolutely horrible read more

We made a reservation for the patio because of the weather. When we arrived, most of the patio was roped off with caution tape. There were a few high top tables and a picnic table available around the edge of the patio area. This was definitely not expected for our birthday celebration for an 80 year old. DELICIOUS!!!! Such an extensive menu that anybody could find anything to eat off of it. The spinach artichoke dip is amazing, and would definitely recommend that as the Appetizer. The crispy chicken sandwich is delicious and the chipotle aïoli slaw on it is what sets it apart, and the fries that come with it are delicious! The drinks are great, and everyone said the cocktails are delicious! , and the waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The ambience of the restaurant is great for any time of day. I am so in love with Hungary's. It is one of my favorite places and I have been to both locations multiple times. The last time I went to the rice location though our server was very slow and even though we were enjoying our conversation it did make an impact on our meal. We've been going to Hungry's for almost 30 years, and have historically really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. For many years it was our go-to place whenever we wanted a tastey meal at a reasonable price. The last few times we've gone, however, our sense has been that the quality of the food and the dining experience is slipping. We went today for lunch, and found the meat and pita bread to both be dry. The kabob meat looked like it had been roasted in the oven, sat under a heating lamp for a long time, and was then cut and put on skewers; it was pretty bad. The beef was also in rectangular dry chunks, and had no visual appeal at all. I also think that the service is getting worse. Today it was slow, not very friendly, and no one bothered to ask us how our meal was. I was actually prepared to tell them in person how disappointed we were and leave it at that. But since no one even asked us how our meal was (or gave us any attention during our meal for that matter), I decided to leave a review instead. After almost 30 enjoyable years, I'm sad to say that we won't be going back. Local Foods is much closer and far higher quality. read more

Came here for lunch with some girlfriends on July 4. We made a reservation, and good thing we did bc as we dined, it got busier and busier. Our waitress was very nice and patient. I was the first to arrive and the rest of my group was late...the latest being 30 min late...but she was so patient with us. The food here is American/Mediterranean. Huge portions, healthy combos, and tasty. I got the gyro platter which is like a deconstructed gyro. Not a huge fan of the jalapeño hummus (plain is the way to go), but the fries were awesome and the salad. The meat didn't have a lot of flavor to me though so the yogurt sauce helped it a lot. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Omg it's super cute and chic inside perfect for family, date and group setting. They also have a big patio seating area as well. This was my first time here and I didn't even rsvp and no waiting at all! The staffs were nice and attentive. Smoked salmon avocado toast (5/5) - one of the best I ever had. Big menu and good price. Once upon a time, I was tired of eating at Hungry's. Why? Because it used to be the go-to place for lunch and dinner when I used to work in the area. But that was years ago. So when people wanted to come here for dinner after bowling at the Bowlmore, I thought, "why not?" It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was pretty empty. Only a few tables were occupied so finding a table for our big party wasn't an issue. Upon entering, there was nobody at the host table, but someone quickly approached us and seat us. Soon after, our waiter (who was pretty awesome) came to introduce himself. I ordered the Southern Chicken Fried Chicken because I wanted something simple and familiar. The fried chicken was good. As good as a chicken fried chicken could be. In the middle of my meal, I also ordered a glass of lemonade - no ice. However, my glass was full of ice when it came. I didn't bother to ask our waiter to replace it, but still a bit disappointed. This was the only hiccup during my experience here. To close my dinner, I ordered a slice of carrot cake. It was good, but a part of me wished that it would have been a little bit bigger. But hey, they saved me from eating all those extra calories, so it's all good!! I wouldn't mind coming back to eat at Hungry's again. But I'd probably go to the Rice Village location since it's closer to me. But then again, parking at this location is not as big a pain in the butt as the Village location. read more

Baked goat cheese was well cooked and had a great taste. The lemon pasta was a bit too zesty but still good. The shrimp was just delicious! Was trying to find a healthy place for me and something my boyfriend would like and I stumbled upon this place. So we decided to go check it out. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the wait staff was very friendly and seated us quickly. It was great weather so we decided to sit outside. There was people there but it wasn't loud so you were still able to speak with the person you came with without having to yell. I ordered the wrap and my boyfriend the Chicken-Fried Chicken. It was delicious! Mine was filling but yet light and his was just amazing! I almost wanted to trade plates with him! We also ordered the homemade hummus and we left that plate looking clean! This place is the shiz. The ambiance is very friendly and approachable. We were seated right away, I guess we came at a good time. The place looks modern and clean. They have a complementary section with different kinds of bread, jams, fruit and toppings. They also leave a water carafe to refill your own water which I love! The waiter was very nice and asked if I could have my migas without the jalapeños sausage. The migas were good and different than I've had before. The crab Benedict were also different but good. The dishes were perfectly filling. We didn't have dessert but those too looked amazing! We'll definitely come back even n though it's far from where we live. read more
