After wanting to try Husick's by Forester for several months, I was hugely disappointed in the food. The muffaleta sandwich was one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had. The focaccia bread was more akin to white bread than a well-made focaccia and was slathered with aioli (which has no place on a muffaleta sandwich), the olive salad was unremarkable, and it was not pressed to allow the juices to permeate the sandwich. My cold white bean salad side was nearly flavorless. After a few bites, I tossed out the remaining sandwich and salad. The service was equally unremarkable - a single person staffing the cash register and delivering the food. Since it was at beautiful day, I chose to sit outside on one of the plastic picnic tables. Shortly after biting into my sandwich, a gardener began shoveling dirt into a planter box two feet from my table. While I enjoy the smell of fresh potting soil while working in the garden, I do not appreciate it while eating food. My draft Yolo Bolo brew by Porchlight Brewing was tasty, but it wasn't enough to save this very disappointing dining experience. read more

Tried this place out for the first time! And was not disappointed! We wanted to try something new. Just across the river is this cool country vibe pizza spot. The second I held the crust of the pizza I knew it was going to be good. We got the forester and it's covered with greens but under is cheesy goodness. You order standing up and find your seat after. The service was pretty quick for a Friday night. The vibe was lively but you could still find a place to sit. They had a cool live music band too add. Nice staff. We love the inside outside options and we chose to be inside. There was a really nice jazz band playing when we got there and it was a bit hard to hear even inside. We had the Forester pizza and the Cobb salad. The pizza was not the best and my husband said the crust was spongy. My salad featured soggy iceberg lettuce instead of romaine which would have retained its crunch as they had mixed in the ranch dressing. In fact, the salad was mixed unlike any Cobb salad I have ever ordered and I prefer to mix my own including the dressing. Definitely needs improvement. I will go back to try other items on the menu. Tried this local spot with the wife tonight and it was FANTASTIC. The staff was incredibly friendly, provided great recommendations for our first visit, and chatted with us after, telling us their story on taking a risk and opening up on small little Clarksburg. It was a Friday night and they had a live band strumming up some tunes while we enjoyed The Forester Pizza and the Chicken Cassoulet, which were amazing. We have seen this place so many times and decided to try it today for our Anniversary lunch. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! We had the steak sandwich and the Muffaletta. Fantastic. The social was so soft. They were veryyy good. I had noticed the chef had some really amazing looking figs on his table so I asked the hostess what dishes he makes with those? She said periodically they make a fig pizza and asked if I would like to try a fig. Eagerly I said yes! That fig was the best fig I have tasted in a VERY long time so sweet and perfect and no wonder, she said they get them from their tree out back. Chef if you ever read this..please put those figs in a dessert pizza because MY GOD MAN MY GOD!!!! OH and don't get me started on those lovely cookies!! YUM. read more

We had lunch here on a chilly Saturday. Loved the spot along the river. It was "Brazil" week, so we tried the specials. The seafood soup was delicious; only drawback was the smallish portion. The bean/pork stew had lots of flavor and was ample. Would have been nice to have some grilled bread to soak up the sauce on both entrees. Saw pizza, sandwich and salad options at nearby tables. Well presented and sizable. It's a former hardware store. High ceilings make it very LOUD. We sat at a table near the window and had to shout to hear each other. I saw a review and we decided to drive out. We bought a bottle of Rose which I loved. I got a side salad which had a good flavor for the vinegrette however it was just lettuce and could ha e had a few things added. We also had the salsa di Parmigiano which was delicious and we ordered the combination pizza. The staff was friendly and the food was good. The pizza could have been a little more crispy on the bottom but was overall a great flavor. We found out they have live music on Fridays so we will definitely come back for that. The perfect location for those wine tasting in Clarksburg; several good wineries nearby like Heringer Winery... or a relaxing drive along the Sacramento River. The atmosphere is relaxing and simple country. Chef Matt and Host/Server Junior are welcoming. If you are a "foodie," this place is worth a visit. Chef Matt features a weekly country along with a fixed menu. We had an El Salvador pork (black beans, pickled onions) dish that was "off the hook" and one of the best and outstanding dishes that I have had in a while. This coming week (Jan 23 - Jan 29) features Brazil. I will be at Husicks that week for another visit! The Clarksburg community is already touting and reeling over this eatery. Chef Matt had a good reputation prior, and I suspect his reputation for his culinary expertise is going to grow exponentially at Husicks. We were here around the time they reopened and enjoyed the great pizza, sides and the service. The location is great as it is located at the entry to the town of Clarksburg and there is plenty of street parking up on the levee or on the side street. Service was very good at the counter and at the table, and there was a good variety of beer to choose from, The entrees looked fine and we will return soon to have dinner. Pizza was amazing, but they overcharge for added toppings (we added $4 ham and there wasn't enough to even taste it). Service was great, except our pizza took 45 minutes even though it wasn't terribly crowded. There's enough great restaurants in the Sacramento area so probably not worth coming back. read more

I was fortunate to be able to visit when Covid restrictions allowed for outdoor dining. I ordered the ribs platter and was able to try the tri tip. The food took a bit of time to arrive, but it was warm when it arrived (slightly above room temperature). I definitely would have preferred hot food. The portion size is ok for the platter, though a bit pricey. I expected the meat to slide off the bone for the ribs but was a disappointed to see that it sticks to the bone. It ended up a chore to eat. The tri tip was as bit too dry as well. Seems like the best option would be to smother the meat in BBQ sauce, but I think a good measure of a BBQ place is the taste of their simple barbecued meat. The new version of Husicks has only been open a couple of weeks; and I predict this will become a destination for folks from all around the delta as well as Elk Grove and Sacramento. For starters, they make all their sandos on homemade focaccia. It is pillowy soft and delicious, and HUGE portions. All samdos come with a side of potato salad, beet salad or delicious greens (that are very lightly dressed, which really lets the freshness and tastiness of the greens come through.) And the tomatoes are Oh! My! Sacratomato! Delicious heirlooms. I could have had a plate of just those tomatoes. I hope they will also offer a Caprese salad with those bad boys. Sandwiches are humongous and one of my friends said the chicken sando was the best one he ever tasted. We also got a charcuterie board, which had two different kinds of salami and a country pate' to die for. Delicious mustard and a generous portion of crostinis accompanied the dish. We didn't get a chance to try the pizzas, but will definitely return. They have a large selection of beer and wines, including but not limited to offerings from local breweries and wineries. Service was wonderful, food was wonderful; the space (which used to be a hardware store) is beautiful, and they've retained some of the old photos and signs of the shop and clarksburg area. That part is uber cool. The current owners have big plans for the space and you can already see the changes outside that are prepared for outdoor entertainment. They've added patio space all around and the music is loud outside. Too loud. So we went inside and darn if it wasn't it was just as loud. Oh well. Hint, use AI to come up with a playlist that will have your customers either want to stay longer or shorter. I'm not removing a star just because of that. I hope the owner will read this review and turn the volume down so the music it is in the background, rather than the forefront. read more

Great place, tough location in the dark. We attended an after hours birthday party. The drive was very dark. I don't recommend coming after dark. The food was tasty. My favorites were the corn bread and tender brisket. The open soda machine was a perk. The service was great. It was all about the rustic ambiance. The birthday boy loved it. For Father's Day, my dad opted to come to Husicks Taphouse. Located down in the Delta area near Clarksburg, we enjoyed some delicious barbecue at one of their outdoor picnic tables to spend time and celebrate my dad. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas for shade, especially in these hot summer days. We decided to do the family platter option which came with 2 pounds of meat, two pieces of cornbread, six Hawaiian rolls, a large side of coleslaw, and our choice of two additional large sides. For our meat, we decided to do 1 pound of Tri tip, half a pound of pulled pork, and half a pound of hot links. For our two sides we chose mac & cheese and potato salad. We all felt that the meat was absolutely delicious and enjoyed sampling their different varieties of barbecue sauce. The only thing that was really lacking were the side dishes. We all felt that they needed a little bit more in terms of flavor - the coleslaw needed a little bit more vinegar, the potato salad needed a little bit more mustard, and the mac & cheese needed just a little bit of a stronger cheese taste. But all in all, we really enjoyed our meal and getting to try a new place together. read more
