Had a brief stay and was ultimately impressed with several aspects of the hotel. Location was great and it was convenient to walk and or Uber to most spots. I loved the liveliness of the hotel and the massive entrance with bars and restaurants. The staff were great and getting g our room cleaned daily was a plus. We got a suite on the 20th floor of the East building. This room was a little on the outdated side in terms of the amenities but was still beautiful and spacious. My biggest hangup was that it was such a massive room with a very tiny bathroom. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. read more

It's been a while since we've been to the Hyatt but I must say it's gotten worse for wear. Whether this was Covid related, I can't tell. But besides the excellent location and friendly front desk staff, there is now much to be desired with this hotel. Let me begin with the room. Since this was our first time traveling since the pandemic began, I got one of their suites. The room was nice and large and comfortable (although by no means luxurious) but the first thing I noticed was the dustiness in the room on my skin. Not something you expect from a high end hotel and not a pleasant feeling. The pillows were not particularly comfortable. Also, there was no glassware in the room only paper cups. And the coffee maker leaked every time we made a cup. There was also no cleaning scheduled (which is fine given that they want to limit contact during Covid but they should post this information on their website and let us know upon arrival). It took me 4 attempts to get tea bags and sugar replaced in the room. This was very annoying to say the least! Oh, and I forgot to mention that on the first day there was no hot water in the shower or sink. We had a nice visit to Chicago, but sadly it was in spite of the Hyatt and not because of it. Again, the staff was very pleasant and seem to try to do their best but it definitely appears that the hotel is being mis managed at some level here. read more

Cancelled a prepaid hotel room during marathon weekend due to health issues. Asked for a credit, so they will still have my money (the price gouging is incredible due to the marathon, but that is another issue). They refused. The women I spoke to was the rudest I have encountered in customer service. It is disappointing that a hotel cannot be accommodating to customers. It isn't a huge ask. Will spread the word and make sure others learn from this costly mistake. read more

Stayed here for a little long weekend getaway. Staff were attentive & beds were comfortable. I don't really get the whole $25/night resort fee though. Food options at the hotel were average.. I absolutely loved my stay at the Hyatt Regency! Everyone was so friendly and helpful, valet always made me laugh as I waited for a car. Those guys made my day before it even started! Checking in was easy, and there's restaurants conveniently located in the hotel. My room was gorgeous, the beds were very comfortable. I have nothing negative to say about my stay. The staff was extremely rude. I've never been racially profiled but here....the worst! My boyfriend and I have a room here. We were at the downstairs bar and he when up to the room to rest, I stayed and had only one drink which was full for hrs . I tried to come back up and meet my boyfriend so we can meet and get my things and they had to have security escort me. Meanwhile I'm friends with the valet and bartenders bc I've been here all weekend. They were beyond rude and on the way to my room we run into my boyfriend and he even said yes she's allowed. And they said add her to the room so this doesn't happen again. And my boyfriend and I were talking not arguing and the guy says bro are you sure you a want to add her? My sister wanted to stay in a big fancy hotel when they came to visit, so she rented a room at the Hyatt Regency to fulfill this wish. She also paid for parking at the hotel since I live here and have a car. When we arrived we pulled into the wrong garage, because it said it was valet; the man told us self-park for Hyatt was across the street with parking for 111 E. Walker (which does show that they have parking for Hyatt). Upon checking in, my sister was told that we needed to go to the front of the hotel and leave it with the valet for parking. Guess how much that mistake cost us? If you pay for parking with your stay, especially if you're getting a room from the website and not a third party, you're probably paying for valet--check your reservation. We also needed a wheelchair for my mom since she has some breathing issues. My sister confirmed there were in and out privileges with the lot (we had plans to attend a play in Hyde Park, and I needed to know if we had to get a cab or some other transportation). We were told that to use the parking that had been purchased with the room we needed to go to the East tower at the front of the hotel and have the valet park it, so we went in our merry way to the theatre. On the way back we ran into a nightmare. It was Mexican Independence Day, and all the streets in the Loop were a parking lot. What should have been a 15-20 minute drive from Court Theatre to this hotel took an hour--and that was with the cops allowing us through some blocked streets because 1) we were staying at the Hyatt and 2) my mom needed to get to her breathing machine. This of course was not the Hyatt's fault, but I was surprised they didn't even hint at it since this isn't something new that happened just this year. But the problem for which they are responsible is the valet parking ridiculousness. We couldn't turn from Michigan onto Wacker because the street was closed due to the revelers making every street down there undriveable, so I went back to the valet beneath the hotel since I'd been able to get there through the lower streets. The valet was sharing that there was a cost ($79!!) to park, and I said we were at the hotel. I contacted my sister to confirm that we didn't need anything further for the valet and the front desk staff insisted that we had to go upstairs to the front of the hotel to use the valet. If you remember, that part was blocked off. And I was sitting at the valet station but they were saying I had to go upstairs just for them to bring it back where I was standing. What sense does that make? She said "everyone's having that problem" (with trying to get to the valet). Ok, but... that's not my problem, my problem is that I'm sitting here at the valet and you're telling me to go around using streets that cannot be used instead of just allowing me to leave it with the valet staff downstairs without issue. Finally the person my sister was working with said we could leave it there, after about 7 minutes of waiting. When the situation was finally settled with the parking, we went inside and I asked someone at the valet if they could get a wheelchair for my mom. It was about 15 minutes before they showed up, and that's because I happened to go back to them and ask if they were coming--to which he pointed me at the security guard who happened to be walking behind me at that moment. So... I guess the answer was no, no one was coming, since I as the guest had to ask that guard to bring a chair. I have to admit that I was in a state of disbelief when it came time to claim my car. I went to the front of the hotel to give them my ticket and they pointed me downstairs to the valet station I had been at the night before. So all that time insisting that I had to leave my car at the front with the valet instead of at the valet station, but you have to go down there to claim it? Just really ridiculous all around. The valet in the evening when we were struggling with the parking issue was really great. I wish I had had more cash on me because he deserved it unlike most of the others I interacted with at the Hyatt. The security guard who helped us twice, Rolando, I also appreciated very much. The view was good, even in our partially obstructed view room. And the food was ok (we had to get food there since everything was closed or overrun when we got back for the evening). If you're here for a conference and/or not driving, it's probably pretty good, but our experience totally soured me on this property. read more

Fantastic location! We were impressed that at such a huge hotel the customer service was excellent. There was someone greeting guests when they entered the building and the breakfast restaurant, and the check in staff and the bar and restaurant teams were excellent! Our room was renovated in the west wing. It was clean, and the view was fabulous. We had Regency Club access and our room was a Lake View King. Regency Club served many non alcoholic beverages, chips, cookies, and yogurt during the day. The appetizers included a hot appetizer, soup, meat and cheese tray, a nice selection of vegetables and dip, and cake pops. Club was a nice amenity and the staff working were excellent, but there was only one spot with a good view that was usually occupied,, and our room view was much better. So we took our food and drinks to go. Would recommend this Hyatt for the location, value, comfort, and service. read more

Finally back to Chicago after 2 years. We still stay at the same hotel as my husband loves the view. We booked rooms with points this time and also get Regency club access so we would have breakfast included & snack with beverages all day if we want. Hotel staffs were helpful when I texted and asked about rooms arrangements. Buffet breakfast was awesome, lots of different things to choose from. I love their croissant & fruit with orange juice. My husband loves their omelette while my teenagers devoured eggs & smoke salmon. The room is renovated, look clean and nice although we do miss the bigger window in East Tower to enjoy the view. One thing that I dislike is water pressure from shower, very weak. If you take a bath, it is fine. But shower is a no no for me. Parking rate increases to 84$ per night but this is Chicago, so it is understandable. We also ate a small dinner at the downstair restaurant too, soup was flavorful. Chip & salsa were everyone's favorite, plenty to share. But bacon was overdone. Still love the hotel & would like to be back when my toddler will be older. read more

This hotel is close to pretty much everything. Friendly staff and spacious rooms. The holiday decor added the perfect touch to the winter season and they even had a gingerbread house contest. There are a lot of complementary items if you forgot anything. The hotel is also located close to several major attractions and restaurants. My husband and I came to Chicago for the first time over St.Patricks Day weekend. This hotel is located near Millennium Park and right on the Riverwalk. We had a corner suite on the 32nd floor and it was the perfect view for watching the hustle and bustle of the city. Breakfast has been wonderful and their grass fed burger was delicious. Beds were comfortable, and we forgot toothpaste and they brought up toothpaste to our room quickly. Service was great and the conference rooms were what we needed for a very large conference. Location is superb (as reflected in the nightly price) - right off the river walk and a 10 min walk to millennial park and the bean. The bar inside had some good happy hour deals and decent cocktails. Good variety. I like the cosmo in particular. I didn't park here so I can't speak about the parking. Christine at the front desk was terrific at check-in. Despite a full hotel for a Becker's event, she got me on a high floor at the end of the hall and I NEVER mind paying extra to do that. The layout of this hotel has winding hallways so it tends to be more quiet than typical long hallways. Stetson's downstairs offers sushi/steak and premium drinks in a dark, sexy atmosphere. Too bad they don't enforce a business dress code to elevate the experience. (No shorts, no T-shirts, no sports attire, no hats/caps). I'm at this hotel 3-4 times per year for events and so far, always top tier. read more

One gleaming positive is the housekeepers are all very friendly and made it a point to say hello whenever I passed them. The lobby is also big and has multiple eating establishments. But if you want room service you are out of luck. If you want an updated bathroom you are out of luck. I got a stained toilet. The bed comforters were disgusting if you hold them up to the light, so you may not want to do it. I guess it works well for conferences because it is huge and centrally located, but the rooms are circa 1960 and desperately need attention. read more

Beautiful views, excellent service, GREAT location. Bars and restaurants closed too early on a Friday night. King size bed suite was huge, bed was comfy, sheets and duvet clean and spotless, everything seemed immaculate. Why this isn't a 4-5 review is due to my overly annoying attention to detail finding black mold in both the shower and near the head board in the room. There is lack of air circulation for sure and no way to pop a window open, if you could air out the room I'm sure this wouldn't happen. For the price you are paying I would expect a cleaner mold free environment. I like to give a heads up because I know some people are extremely allergic to molds of any kind. All in all I would stay here again just because of the location and views , BUT I would look over my room before unpacking. read more

So you know I'm a stickler for customer service. If you know me, I'm in the industry myself and the biggest mistake in my opinion is the training of staff to become robotic humans (and most places in the US, the people aren't even pleasant ones anymore) and for the longest time, I thought good customer service is gone from America permanently. Well maybe not; About a month ago, I stayed for a weekend at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago and was helped get checked in by their staff; Specifically a gentleman by the name Raymond. I've stayed at this property before and while it's nowhere close to Hyatt properties you find in Asia or the Middle East, it is a great property but the check in experience in the past has been well; just a typical check in experience at any hotel chain in America. Raymond however was pleasant and really seemed to like what he was doing. Took care of me and my family. Fast forward about a month later, came here again for a 3 night stay. He recognized me (this hotel has foot traffic that seems to be like Shinjuku Station in Tokyo but in spite of it, he recognized me). Again, the experience was exceptional and just made my day. Then there was another gentleman, Jean who helped me sort out an issue I was having (not a creation of the hotel or the management but rather my own stupidity) and just the way he handled it and worked with me to try and fix the issue I was having was remarkable. Sadly he wasn't able to fix it effectively enough but that's not his fault; it's the Hyatt's IT system so I can't fault the staff for that. The point of this review though was to express what a pleasant feeling it is to be wrong; there still are folks out there in this great country that really know what customer service is and actually care about their clients. Stayed here for three nights last week while we were in town for a conference. Check-in was super easy, and we were allowed in the room early. Always a nice bonus when that happens. We declined any housekeeping service while we were there, but they were always out in the hallway and were friendly if we needed anything. The building itself is beautiful on the inside and the rooms were perfect for the three of us. Lots of employees around downstairs to help us out if we needed it. Staff in the market was friendly every day that we stopped in for coffee and snacks. Elevators were fast and efficient. Not a lot of waiting around. They leave what you need outside your door due to Covid. No room service as far as food goes...due to Covid...again. The location was great for tourism too! It's not too far from a nice amount of landmarks and famous buildings. Great view overlooking the Riverwalk and the rest of the city. There's 2 parts to this huge place as well, east and west. I discovered the hard way that the Hyatt has started overbooking their hotel rooms. I arrive at 10:30 pm after a 5 hour flight to be told they had given away my room for the first of a 3 night stay. Sent me to another Hyatt across town for 1 night. Then I have to schlep back the next day for my other 2 nights. I picked the hotel as much for its location as for whatever else the Hyatt offers. So this was more than a minor inconvenience. I'm giving them 3 instead of 1 star because the manager (Nick? Niko?) at the front desk the next morning really went above and beyond, and did everything he could to make things right when I was finally able to check in to the correct hotel. What a lovely man. I hope you give him a raise. Your staff are excellent and TRULY understand customer service. The company for which they work? Not so much. No one paying several hundreds of dollars a night expects that a reservation made months in advance will not be honored in full. You'd never find the Holiday Inn using an algorithm to gamble on cancellations in pursuit of more profit. If you make people question why they are paying the higher price tag for the Hyatt, you may find them increasingly unwilling to pay it. read more

I was here for a conference. The rooms were ok. Size, shape, layout all par for the course. The rooms were carpeted. The lighting was good--not great, but better than average. The water pressure was abysmal. It took me at least 10 minutes standing under the water to get all the soap washed off. Hint to the Hyatt, if someone needs to putz around in the shower for double the time it would normally take, have you actually worsened water consumption more than if you had left well enough alone and trashed the water restrictors? Next, how about putting some water glasses in the room. Even the I66 bed bug highway motels do that--don't be chintzy Hyatt. My room had none that I could find. As usual, I asked for a checkout, and also as usual, the room attendants didn't care and barged right in. Perhaps they knocked--but was on a business call--while simultaneously changing into jeans. I felt bad for them, since they were embarrassed; but c'mon, look at the late checkout list....Rub a dub dub there can be an unsuspecting guest in the tub. read more

My family and I attended our 11th All Star Basketball event this year and stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago a hotel that was an official NBA Hotel and therefore extremely busier than normal. This event always coincides with the Birthday of my wife and this year also was Velentine's day weekend. At previous events, whether it be a Hyatt or Marriott, each property has managed to make it a special weekend by upgrading us, having a Birthday Day cake made and other recognition. With All Star weekend , I had little expectation that management would have the time given how busy they were with the NBA. Boy did GM Patrick Donelly and his ALL Star team of Hotel Manager Todd Coston, FOM Katrina Knock, Head Concierge Drew prove me wrong! Not only did they make it special, but it was extra awesome in so many ways that I can't begin to express my appreciation for their generosity. The Hotel is in a great location (even on a super cold weekend) with majestic views of the lake/water. There are 2 Towers connected by a bridge and if you are on the West make sure that's where you get your ride shares as its much easier than walking . Check-in is a breeze 1 floor up with lines separated for World of Hyatt . Special thanks to Kia and Tia (one of them is the front desk and she was awesome showing us to our upgraded room and taking care of us). There I also got to meet with FOM Knock to thank her for all her efforts for my family and I. And also to meet with Drew to thank him (also with a gratuity) for all the advance reservations and some changes. Remember this was during All Star so the hotel was jam packed with guests as well as others just there to meet and see celebrities. The Hotel had staff all through the Hotel so it was easy to find your way around. Kudos to GM Donelly and Manager Coston. There is a bridge between Towers and on the way there are multiple places to sit and take in the view, have meetings, charge your cell phone or just take a breather. And just past the elevator bank another sitting area with a fireplace. So much space that there is no feeling of congestion. If you keep walking to the right, you get to the Hotel gym which is massive with everything you need to work out as well as great views. The Club floor and lounger are in the West Tower and well worth the upgrade in price. Kudos to Dragana and Deontae who were awesome in customer service and full of information. I was surprised, and maybe its because most of these weekend guests were not business guests, that folks were not providing a gratuity to these hard working staff and neither helping clear away their tables so other guests could sit. Come on fellow guests! The suite floor is super awesome and our upgrade was really generous of the Hotel for our special occasion. Spacious with great views and extra comfortable to work as well as to stay in. Always well stocked and cleaned (BTW fellow guests hope you also gave gratuities to Housekeeping) Lounge bars on the ground floor and second were great to sit and have a deink or order food. If you go down below, during weekdays, there are numerous eating places (Dunkin/McDonalds, Banks and other small businesses) Finally we left something back in our suite when we checked out and Katrina immediately reached out and ensured it was on its way back to us in Virginia. Our stay was really awesome especially during this really busy weekend. Staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful and clearly this is in large measure due to the leadership and service excellence set by GM Donelly and his senior team. We stayed here on July 4th Weekend before the pandemic. The hotel is very nice and enormous! It's one of the largest Hyatts in the world and it certainly shows just by looking at the lobby. We were upgraded to the Astor Suite in the East Tower, which was huge and way too big for just the two of us, but we're not complaining! The room has a bedroom with a common area and a separate dining area, with great views of the Chicago River. The location is perfect for anyone visiting Chicago as it's right in the middle of the city and only 2 blocks away from Millennium Park. It's also a short walk to the "L" Train. Huge conference space. Easy to get lost/not finds rooms if your conference spans across the multiple floors. The buffet lunch options were great but I do think the Tuesday lunch was better than Wednesday. The architecture inside is really nice. Additionally, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Best stay I've had since coming to Chicago for the marathon! The staff made me feel welcome from the time I arrived until the time I left. Room is in a perfect location away from all of the major traffic and has amazing views of the city and lake at night. Restaurants all around you within walking distance makes things easy. No on-site parking but you are able to use the parking garage located next door that has 24 hour access. I highly recommend checking out the Hyatt the next time you are in Chicago! read more

Enjoyed my two night stay here this past weekend for a reasonably priced room with Chicago river view. This is a huge property, think business hotel on steroids! I was offered a $25 per night room upgrade fee (over my online booking) for this water view and I do think it was worth it overall. I stayed in the West Tower and the rooms are clean and updated, though the bathroom vanity did seem pretty banged up. The housekeeping staff are super vigilant about knocking on your door 8:30-9am, so please have the 'do not disturb' placard ready. I learned this the hard way haha. As others have noted, you cannot beat the location. Located on upper Wacker Drive, you are literally steps from the Architectural Boat Tour, shopping on Michigan Avenue, within 1/2 mile of Eataly and Millenium Park, and you even have a direct underground walkway to Illinois Center (home to AmazonGo, Potbellys, Starbucks, etc). Due to this and the wide availability of online deals, I would strongly consider staying at this Hyatt Regency again in the near future. read more

We had a teaching conference here over the weekend. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The rooms in the conference areas were clean and bright. There were many staff members available to offer directions. Thank goodness! This is the most confusing hotel and convention center layout I've ever seen. East tower/West tower, escalators everywhere to different levels, smaller meeting rooms didn't have clear directions to point you in the right direction. It was crazy! Also the whole place was freezing! Not just wear layers, but bring your winter coats to the meetings. (FYI-I'm not usually someone who gets cold.) Convention food was hit or miss. It wasn't terrible. It just wasn't great! Plus, with the coldness in the room, it got cold before you found a table to sit at. The hotel rooms were very nice though. Lots of space, huge TV, frig, iron, full size hair dryer (Loved the hair dryer! If it had accidentally fallen in my suitcase, I wouldn't have complained. LOL) Would I stay here again? Definitely, but I'd bring a coat! read more
