Unfortunately, the first Service Provider was evasive and not transparent about our charges. He took forever to prepare our quote. The second Service Provider was awesome. All in all, this place is a rip off. I emailed Shannon Harris, Service Director, on March 2nd however we received no response, which is unprofessional. We paid over $3500 for repairs and a so called "labor". We were told an oil change, spark plugs and brakes were done BUT thats not what we took the car in for, we didn't ask for that but okay, thank you? So we paid over 3500 for an oil change, new spark plugs and brakes?!? On top of that, upon picking up the car we had to pay another $350, for what? We were told "Labor", again? When we picked up the car the front bumper was not in tact. Thankfully my husband took pictures before leaving the car for repairs. Ultimately were are out of almost $4000 for mainly labor. Lastly, whomever my husband was speaking to was unprofessional, speaking to him in a demeaning and condenscending tone and was not actively listening. Verified Liars and incompetent technicians. It took a four month investigation working with Hyundai Motors America and a lot of my time and effort to confirm that their technicians display negligence and dishonesty. When you come to a Dealership's service department you expect highly trained technicians to perform high quality work. After all you're paying considerably more at a dealer than some other repair shop. It's not just the fact that Escondido Hyundai does poor workmanship, it's that they're comfortable with it and it's part of their daily routine. So many times they sent my car home worse off than how it came in. How many times they never took it for a test drive only for my check engine light to come on while driving away. That has happened three documented times now. Never an apology, just some mumbling excuse. Hyundai of Escondido's service department is not even trying to provide anything other than poor service. Just don't take some pissed off Yelp Elite's 1 star review. Take the word of the two other Hyundai dealership's master technicians that inspected and reported various disturbing issues regarding Escondido Hyundai's workmanship. Those reports were submitted to Hyundai Motors, and the District Parts and Service Manager. While in the end I had all of my work paid for by Hyundai of America ( About $3000 worth), the process to fight this dealership was a huge burden. Major issues that I've experienced in just the past 2 years. - Sent me home saying work was done. I drive off the parking lot and my car rumbles and the check engine light goes off. They state a Spark Plug had water on it. - Sent me home with a new Alternator, but on my way home I smell something burning from my engine compartment. Ooops, they claim it was a defective new alternator. No explanation or apology for not testing it before giving my vehicle back to me. - Sent me home after $3000 in repairs only to have my car's check engine light go off on the way home. "Oops, looks like an ignition wire wasn't connected". Oh yeah? Didn't turn on my engine and verify your work before giving the car back to me? (No apology) - Various parts are missing from my car and my O2 sensor is tied on via Ziptie. All confirmed by another dealership immediately after repair work from Hyundai of Escondido. BTW, even though I was offered compensation and given free repairs on a corporate level, Hyundai of Escondido never returned or replaced my missing parts. In the end Hyundai Motors of America had to pay out of their own pocket to settle various recall and workmanship issues. My car was way out of warranty but because of the extreme nature of the issues I ended up winning... If you feel this service department has acted inappropriately you MUST file a complaint with Hyundai Consumer Affairs 800-633-5151. No guarantee you will win, but it's your only hope for fairness. - NEVER take your car here for service. - NEVER give this dealership five stars on the phone or Email survey (Consumer Satisfaction Survey) unless they gave you best-ever service. They will act like Mogwai (Gremlins) begging you for fried chicken after midnight to get 5 stars. FYI - A low rating score HURTS a dealership in many ways. - Your car will also leave dirtier than how it came in. I bought a 2023 Tucson on February 22 2023 and I traded in my 2021 Santa Fe and everything was great. I bought my favorite car. Well all that changed on March 1st when I was charged for my old car!!! So I called the financial department and they said it's the dealerships fault. I called the dealer and they said they would look into it and send my my money. A week later I still haven't seen a penny so I called dealer and I had to explain everything to him. He promised to call me back and it's been 4 day and nothing. It's now March 25th and still nothing.!!! I stopped the auto payments on my bank and that cost me 31$$ I really need that money I have bills to pay and groceries to buy. I want to thank Hyundai of Escondido for handling the warranty motor replacement of my vehicle after Bob Baker had my car in their possession for over 4 months! I had my car towed into Hyundai of Escondido, I explained to them the issues I had been having with the previous dealership and how frustrated I was with the entire process overall. Hyundai of Escondido's service team was excellent in addressing my concerns and immediately got started working with Hyundai Corp. to get my engine replacement covered under warranty. It took a few weeks for the entire process to be completed and throughout the process, Brandon and the entire service dept team was very communicative and helpful throughout. They provided me a loaner for the duration of the repair and are even working with Hyundai Corp to get the chipped paint issue resolved as well. With very few Hyundai dealerships in North County I would always choose Hyundai of Escondido for all my service needs. I took off work to take my Hyundai Sonata Hybrid for service. Oil change, Key fobs not working, air bag (red light) light on, and steering wheel volume control NOT working. Took in Tuesday morning (7 am) and left it there, no one called me about any update. I had to call them that afternoon and found out that parts were ordered and will arrive Friday. We were going to take the car back and just return it Friday but because of work we decided to leave it there. Friday came no update, Saturday came no update. Monday still no update. I had to text Monday to find out what is going on and only then did I receive a text that the car is fixed. I asked my son to get the car Tuesday around 11 am. I go home from work 5 pm only to find out that the steering wheel control is NOT fixed. of the $1300 plus quote, my son was only charged for $747.54. So the other $592.93 was for the steering wheel control which they did NOT fixed. I went ahead and called them to ask why the work wasn't complete. Instead of getting an explanation from the service department, I was asked to pay $592.93 which would have been for the steering wheel control which they did NOT fix to begin with. So I asked them why are they wanting payment for a service NOT done? No explanation other than HYUNDAI threatening me that I will be sent to collection for $592.93 which they never actually didn't do any work . I asked to speak to their manager and left me on hold for about 45 minutes with no answer. at this point I highly doubt they actually replaced the spiral cable and they probably found a way to make the airbag light control to disappear. Where do I begin? When I saw reviews in the past about wanting to give below 0/5 stars I always assumed the poster was being dramatic. Now I completely understand. Genesis of Escondido is the absolute worst dealership I have ever been to and experienced in my entire life. The cliche of salesmen being unprofessional, sleazy, and basically criminal keeps that reputation because of places like this. I have been in the market for a GV60 and Genesis of Escondido is the only current dealer in San Diego unfortunately(Genesis should definitely reconsider). The first salesman Jose Hernandez was a good guy,enthusiastic, and showed me that they had the cars available on the lot. I told him I'd go in the following day and he set me up with Lorenzo and Pedro. Initially everything went ok. They didn't have the trim I wanted but they were nice enough to sit down with me and look at the upcoming allocation and we were able to find the car I wanted. We agreed to on the vehicle and because it wasn't out on the lot yet, we weren't able to complete the paperwork. We agreed on the deal and Lorenzo and Pedro told me to come by Friday and we'd get everything settled. Come Friday, I drive an hour again to the dealership to be told that the techs still haven't cleared the car and it wasn't ready and they didn't have access to the VIN so they wouldn't be able to process any paperwork. They have me fill out my pre approval and let me know that they'd have the paperwork ready and would deliver the car to me the following Monday. Great, right? Wrong. Monday morning, I don't receive and calls and they aren't responding to my calls or texts. Then after about 3 hours I finally get a call from Lorenzo telling me that the car did not pass inspection and they wouldn't be able to sell me the vehicle. Excuse me?!? What?!? Here's where they messed up. I had a colleague call in and inquire about the specific model that was meant to be sold to me and the salesperson told them that the car had a pending sale but if the deal fell threw they would be able to sell the car that evening. Furious, I call Lorenzo and he says that's not true and that the car did not pass inspection. I ask to speak to Pedro(his team manager) and he confirms that the car was not released from the inspection and that it would not be for sale. I hang up the phone and call back and ask for the General Manager. I speak with Juan Martinez(finance manager I believe) I explain the situation and he kindly offers to look into the situation and give me a call back. A few moments later I receive a call from Jose Martinez(general manager) and he tells me he is speaking with the tech and the car passed and is on the lot. I tell Jose about what's going on and he apologizes and tells me he'd talk to his team and give me a call back. I didn't receive a call back(as expected) so I call back in. Lorenzo answers, I ask to speak to Jose Martinez and he reluctantly transfers the call. Guess who answers? Pedro. Conveniently Jose is in a meeting and now Pedro tries and weasels his way out of the situation. First blaming Lorenzo for not doing his job and not verifying if the vehicle was already pre-sold(the car had a deposit). He then tries to backtrack saying the car didn't pass inspection and it wasn't for sale. Everything at this point is a mess but I'm a person myself. I make mistakes. But where Genesis of Escondido lost my business and anyone in my circle for that matter is the fact that they were not able to accept they made a mistake. Had Pedro or Lorenzo apologized and said "hey we messed up, the car actually had a paid deposit and we missed that note." I would have been extreme disappointed but I wouldn't have been upset. I've been in the service industry/customer service for a long time myself. Anyone and everyone knows that one of the most important things when making a mistake is reaching out and recovering. I tried to give them the opportunity to make things right but they were either too proud or hardheaded to figure out their mistakes. Everyone at Genesis of Escondido failed to do that. It's extremely unfortunate Genesis chose this particular dealer to give their first allocation to in San Diego because they will absolutely destroy this brand. Genesis of Escondido is dishonest, unprofessional, and an absolute stain to the Genesis Brand. I will definitely be reaching out to Genesis and Genesis Korea about my experience and will be encouraging them to give their allocation to other dealerships before the entirety of San Diego loses their desire to purchase a Genesis because of this specific dealership. read more

Let me start by saying that I purchase a LOT of new cars, over 20 in the past 30yrs so I have tons of experience with dealerships. Today was a new low. Last week I took my Santa Cruz in for a non functioning fuel door release (which means I was not able to fill up as the mechanism was broken). I spent 3 hours at the dealer waiting for them to confirm it was broken and they ordered the part. I made an appointment for this morning at 8:20a to have the new part installed. Im always early so I arrived just before 8a. I was the only car at the check-in and was greeted by a guy who said he would get me checked in, took down the vin as well as a video of my truck. I then stood there for 15 mins and never saw him again. I then went to the waiting area and assumed they had what they needed or they would call me. At 8:50a, I walked back out to make sure my car was in a bay, but nope, it had not moved. I grabbed the same guy who "checked me in" earlier and said you know Im waiting on this right? He then led me inside to "Brandon". Brandon was aggravated. Brandon failed all customer service classes apparently. He first said "I never saw that truck"-it was sitting 15' from his desk. He then said nobody checked me in and continued to be aggravated at me for whatever reason. He said they were super busy- completely false, I even noticed when I went into the waiting area that there was not a single other person. He asked why I was here, I told him for warranty service and that the part had been ordered and had arrived. He then asked if I had a ride coming and told him no, Im waiting for it. He then got aggravated and told me (after I waited for 50 mins already) that it would be a long time....a really long wait as if it was my fault that he failed to check in my truck when I arrived 50mins earlier. I wish I would have read these reviews before going to this place. I see there is a trend in the negative comments with the name Juan and Hyundai hasn't done anything about it? JUAN is the worst and apparently he is a manager? It was the worst experience of my life at a dealer. In summary Juan bullied me and talked down to me for not wanting to take a loan at 6% when my bank was offering me a loan at 4%. He said that I don't know what's good for myself and that he is trying to help me, but I am not helping myself. Saying all this while standing over me and my mother who were sitting and pointing his fingers at me. I left the car dealer crying because I was so upset and not one person looked to apologize or see if I was okay. I guess they are used to this bullying. On July 4, 2020 I bought a 2020 Hyundai Ioniq from Gerry at Sales and was delighted to learn it comes with 3 year 36,000 mile complementary service. The other day (2022) I came in for regular maintenance at 32k miles. They said my complementary service was expired and wanted to charge me. No explanation of why. I called service the next day to get an explanation and the person kept hanging up on me saying they were going to transfer me to an "advisor". I even called Gerry and left a message hoping he would be able to clear things up but no call back. Overall this is very disappointing and I wouldn't recommend Escondido Hyundai at all. Let see where do I start. Well, a few weeks ago my girlfriend's son was in a car accident and his car was totaled. He told me, he wanted to go with a new Hyundai Elantra. I said ok and started doing research for him. I was in contact with a few dealerships, but Moises from Hyundai of Escondido gave me the best offer. Moises and I spoke frequently. We crunched the numbers and came up with a monthly payment that my girlfriend's son could afford. We went in and test drove the Elantra on 12/16/2020 and confirmed the monthly payment and money down. They wanted us to do the deal right then, but we explained to Moises and the sales manager that we wanted to wait until we got the check from the insurance company, to finalize the deal. Both Moises and the sales manger that night were understanding and said ok. On 12/19/2020 we notified Moises that our insurance check had come in and we were ready to finalize the deal. Now here is the kicker! On 12/19/2020 I had to go help my dad, with his new car at another dealership so my girlfriend and her son, were going to go and finalize the deal buy themselves. Sounds perfectly harmless huh?? Well, it wasn't. When they got the final paperwork, the monthly payment wasn't even close to what we had agreed on (Over double). Now I understand that the first set of numbers you crunch at a dealership are only estimates for the most part, but the first monthly payment they offered was outrageous! They wanted more money down and extent the term of the loan. Now I will be honest. I was not there so I don't know exactly what went on, but I could smell BS all over this by the information I was getting. I was at the other dealership with my dad and trying to help my girlfriend and her son at the same time. It was nuts. Now I don't know if they tried to BS my girlfriend because she was female or what but thankfully between Moises and her, they were able to make things go back down and they left with the car. In the end despite the little bit of drama we went through Moises was excellent and thank you for that. He stood behind his customer and supported them, so they could be happy and that's the only reason why you are getting 5 stars. I just left this dealership after an unsuccessful attempt to get my Sonata's brake plunger replaced under the extended warranty coverage offered because they fail, a lot I understand having to agree to pay the diagnostics fee if it doesn't turn out to be warranty. I understand them not listening to me (a qualified mechanic) that that is absolutely what the problem is. I don't understand them refusing to unhook (or let me unhook) the battery so it isn't drained by the stuck brake lights, and maybe ruined by the time they get to it later today, and arguing with me that I brought them the (warranty!) problem, and would have to sign that they are not responsible if the battery suddenly fails, (which they would cause). These people are programmed to extract money from you. I've tried to deal with them before, and they are not reasonable. They extracted thousands of dollars from the previous owner (my cousin). Mostly exorbitant prices and rates on unnecessary work. I have the receipts. I recommend going somewhere (anywhere) else. read more

I purchased my brand new Hyundai a little over a year ago, got the extra fancy maintenance package that covers the car for 2 years, and then moved from Orange County to Vista. I came in to do a basic oil change today and after waiting 20 minutes for the service tech to scroll around in the computer and then make phone call after phone call, I'm inevitably told the maintenance package I was sold somehow doesn't show up in the system and it doesn't cover my oil change. I was told each dealership works with their own maintenance company and after the service tech was kind enough to call the other dealership and find out what I was sold, he informed me he couldn't honor their maintenance rates. Sooooo, a long stupid story later my $80 basic oil change was discounted $28. The only reason I gave 2 stars to this BS run business was bc of the service tech! Your people saved you where your policy fails your customers! This is a management/business problem and its EXACTLY why you are all called a Stealership! Why is one Hyundai allowed to sell you something another Hyundai can say we don't honor that?? How is a warranty or package even legally allowed to be sold without explicitly detailing these limitations??? This is fraud! You can't honor the maintenance rates of another Hyundai? Really? Or is it you don't want to bc then you don't make money off me?? Do you honor anything not purchased directly from your Stealership? What if my transmission fails, do I have to go back to the Stealership I purchased the car from to fix it bc you can't match their maintenance costs? We have had this car in to this dealership at least 7 times, complaining about the call quality on hands free, as well as a problem with the nav system. As always we set up to have minor service done as well. Oil change etc. They upsold us the fuel system cleaner which is fine. Over priced, but I really do want the service department of any store I frequent to make money so they can stay in business until I need their services in the future. This is Friday morning. By that night we had had no response. Called in, and they say the service department is closed. Nothing we can do. Now we have no car, with no notice.
