I can see too that she was stepping over her colleague who tried to assist another customer. She was rude, had no courtesy, stalk-up, pretty much had a very stinky personality. Last night at around 8pm, I went to this Castro Valley location, and ordered the Brown Sugar Latte, no Boba, add egg pudding. (I generally go to the location in Fremont.) I have ordereed this drink about 6 times in Fremont, and even once in Castro Valley. But this time, the cashier would not let me. She had kept justifying that they "cannot change the formula" because it will "ruin or change the flavor." I was caught off guard, because I know what I like. I told her I had ordered it before, and that I don't really like boba pearls, so I'd like the egg pudding instead. She insisted and argued with me that they can't make any changes to this drink. Then she turned to her coworkers and started speaking a different language about the situation...which is completely blowing this out of proportion. Then she insisted I order something else, which was the Okinawa milk tea with egg pudding...Since "it has a brown sugar base" she claimed. The parking is a little tight if it's really busy; you may have to wait for a spot to open up or roll the dice on a reserved Wells Fargo spot. Their calamari is something my wife always goes with. The loss of stars is due to the TERRIBLE customer service. The cashier was incredibly rude with a ton of attitude and looked like she didn't want to be there/care about her job with her constant eye rolls. I had to constantly repeat my order because she couldn't hear me and kept giving me "huh?'s" -- to the point that I was basically shouting my order to her. Also, their system of giving out drinks is terribly flawed and the way they treat their customers when they come up to the counter to grab their drinks is even worse. They called out my number and I had my little sister pick up our drinks. My sister couldn't tell which was ours in the cluster of cups and she tried to ask an employee but no one would answer her. When she tried to check the labels on the cups, that's when an employee asked to see her receipt and yanked it out of her hands -- mind you, my sister is 10. Only one of our drinks was ready yet they called out our number which is very different from other boba places who wait until the entire order is ready before calling out a customer's number. We waited another 10 minutes before the rest of our order was ready. We ordered very basic drinks and they tasted good; however their boba was a bit bland. Nothing too spectacular to bring you back. The milk teas taste fresh but they don't taste fresh after you've had the drink for a couple of hours (quite normal for most bubble teas). Some favorites of mine include the creamas, mango fruit tea, and the winter melon milk tea. There's a concern that I'd like to say about their milk teas in which I feel some of their milk teas leave me feeling very dehydrated in the mouth. I feel as though I need to drink water while drinking the milk teas. Maybe it's just my body chemistry so I guess it depends on each unique person. The pearls here are a bit struggling. To be frank, the taste of the pearls depend on the day. Some days it's horrible; and some days it's great. But overall, the pearls taste mediocre at I-tea. These pearls don't have that much taste or sweetness to them and I want my pearls to have some taste and sweetness to them. They can't just be there for chewiness; that is not why I get them. The pearls are normally smaller in size and they are hard in the center. The pearls are not good which is why when I come here, I don't ever order the pearls. The pearls kind of remind me of rubber. This place is usually pretty packed so it can be quite busy and noisy here. It's especially packed and busy during happy hour. The staff here are nice and friendly and most may speak Cantonese or Mandarin so if you cannot speak English, no worries! There's a good amount of clean seating. They usually have Chinese, Korean, or American songs playing in the background. They often play K-pop which is cool because I'm totally a K-pop fan so hearing music that I listen to on an everyday basis leaves me with a happy mood. Snacks like popcorn chicken and curly fries are also sold here. Even meals like ramen are served here and surprisingly, many people order the ramen. I personally haven't ordered the ramen because I feel it's better to spend money in an actual, legit ramen place. They were out of taro sago so I got mango sago instead. This drink eats like a meal. Not a particularly small meal, either. The cup is FULL to the brim of sago and fresh mango chunks. When I heard about their grand opening and $2 drink promotion, I set a reminder on my phone and made it a point to go (Is that doing too much for boba?). I've never had pudding in my drink but I enjoyed it. The drink was not powdery at all. - Honey brown rice milk tea with agar boba and chia seeds: This will definitely be one of my go-to drinks here. I've always thought of chia seeds as mini bobas, but have never had it in milk tea. This was my first time having agar boba (aka white boba as it's called elsewhere) and I think I like it better than tapioca boba. It has more of a crunchy/jelly like texture and if it has fewer calories like I've heard then that's a definite plus. The chia seeds and agar boba complemented each other. A coworker of mine recently told me of a new boba spot that opened up in Castro Valley and explained that they literally carry everyone's specialty drinks, that they're a one stop shop that has every other boba spot's special drinks. Which I found to be pretty much true and they certainly has an extensive menu. I've been here a total of three times, but twice this week already. I always order at least two drinks each time (to make my trek out to Castro Valley worth it :P), and my favorite is definitely the roasted rice milk tea with agar boba and chia seeds. I don't think I've seen this combination elsewhere before but it sure is deliciously addictive. It almost taste like a cross of oolong tea and genmaicha. Their oolong milk tea is great as well, but it's a bit odd that it comes with litchi jelly as the standard add in. The litchi over powers the tea taste. I ordered their crema oolong tea the previous time and while the tea was good, the crema was a bit on the sweet side which made the drink a but weird when drank together. I got my mom their ginger milk today and tried a sip and it delicious even though it's not quite my type of drink. I've only been here early in the day, around 10-15 mins after they open so I've never experienced long lines. Also every time I go there, there are always a handful of people that orders their ramen. I'm assuming that it must be good? Will definitely need to try that one of these day. I love this place and am super happy that they opened here. That's totally a steal considering the regular price ranges from $3-$5. I-tea has to be one of my favorite bubble tea places. I cannot tell you how happy I am that i-Tea came to town. It's exactly what we needed in the area. During the grand opening of i-Tea, one word can sum it all up: chaos. There were suuuuuuper long lines, workers were still getting used to the menu, customers didn't know or decide what they wanted til they got to the front and food wasn't offered yet. However, after taking into consideration that the entire town would be there for $2 drinks and it was also MLK weekend, I decided it was only fair to give them another opportunity, and I'm so glad I did. By far, this is my only choice for boba in CV from now on. The staff is super friendly, the drink toppings are very generous, and happy hour prices cannot be beat. The food selection is still growing, and I've noticed each time I visit they've added a few more items to their menu which is great if you're looking for a snack with your drink. The only downside I would have changed from the beginning was their menu. They have small printed copies of the menu up front, however if you don't know what you want and wait til you get to the front to decide, it only delays the line. It's pretty annoying and ridiculous that they didn't print a larger sized menu for you to see while you're in line. It wouldn't have only been nice that you don't have to walk all the way up to their larger sized menu (which isn't that large) in the front corner next to a customer's table. Drink wise, what I've tried is pretty awesome. The toppings are always ample, and if you pay for additional toppings, you get your money's worth. Bigger than the Milpitas location, it offers more seating and space to order and enjoy your drinks and snacks. Just like other iTea locations, they offer more than your standard milk tea with pearls. Be prepared to feel overwhelmed by their menu--the combinations are endless. You can pick from a milk tea, to a fruit tea, to iced milk, and more. For toppings they offer grass jelly, ai yu, various other types of jellies, red bean, taro, etc. My boyfriend ordered an Ovaltine iced milk for himself, and I had the 3G milk tea (boba, grass jelly, pudding). Both were delicious. The pearls were nicely chewy. My only gripe is that the drinks were a tad too sweet for me. Even at 50% sweetness, I thought they had mistakenly given me a drink with 100% sweetness. But no worries, that means I can just ask for 30% or 0% next time I'm back! This i-Tea is special compared to SF-Irving Street and Oakland Chinatown locations because of a few good reasons. 1 - they have a good amount of seating available, which is good because it seems like everyone and their moms come here 2 - they have a food menu that appears to be expanding. Popcorn Chicken and other snacks are essential for milk tea shops in the suburbs, because where else are these asian families and teenagers going to hang out? They also have a TV that has been playing the Warriors games when available. 3 - Come after 8pm for their "Happy Hour" which has discounted the majority of their drinks to around 2.75ish and snacks to 3.50. This is a smart play in competing with the nearby T4. About the drinks I've tried (Mostly the Milk Teas and Fruit Teas) they taste good and similar to other i-Teas. The snacks were all very good and sizeable as well (Popcorn Chicken, Calamari, Rice Rolls). There's ample amounts of parking because this plaza is kind of dead. Personally I like i-Tea options much more than T4, and this will be my go-to for now. Whoever opened this location is smart because they read my mind and decided to open shop in an area that isn't over-saturated with milk tea places yet. This location is very close to San Leandro and Hayward, which is lacking in quality milk tea places. Notes: Uses 5-Star system here, no physical loyalty cards like the other locations. Let's just say the area needed a decent boba shop and iTea has met that need. Overall quality is pretty good and they have quick service. My go to's are the matcha milk tea, mango sago, or any of their fruit teas. I have also had their milk tea with coffee jelly, in my opinion it's one of the more underrated toppings they have. Drinks are pretty sweet even at 50% sugar level, so adjust accordingly. Their boba is what you should be expecting, chewy enough but not like gum. They also have a happy hour service 8-11 pmSun- Thurs and 9-12am Fri-Sat. I believe the drinks are 30% off, which is a good deal for those who have a big group.
