Stopped in for lunch before shopping. Food was delicious, prices are great, it's clean inside, service is friendly and FAST! Sweet art on the walls :). Great stop for a quick bite!!

Our day started early when we toured Portland. It was a very hectic one. We left very early in the morning as we planned to tour as many places as we can in a day trip. We went to several places until we realized it was already getting and all we had were some junk foods we brought along. We decided to get a decent fast food because we were already starving by then. Unfamiliar with any good places to eat, we pulled the yelp app and searched for Thai food, the group's choice. We drove down the place but refused to dine in because they close the restaurant at 3 and reopen for dinner. Starving and upset, we drove around the area to find another restaurant as we didn't want to go any farther. We just wanted food, any kind of food to suppress the hunger. Until we saw this place with a big sign that says "best teriyaki in town". We fell for the sign and came in. We ordered spare ribs/gyoza combo, chicken/gyoza combo, and noodles. Food were served fast to our delight. Tasted okay and definitely not the best in town. It was satisfying enough though to fill ia growling tummy. We had some leftovers so we asked for to go boxes with an extra teriyaki sauce on the side. Mind you! They wanted to charge us for extra sauce. No, thank you.

The portion size is very tiny.
    Thats Y.

The restaurant has heavy dive vibe and is in desperate need of an update, otherwise it's clean, tidy and the staff were pleasant during our interaction. I ordered the hot and spicy chicken for $9.50. The portion size was almost comical, like what you would be given in one of the small side entree boxes at Panda Express, maybe 4 ounces of food and two tiny globs of rice with a green salad that is not crunchy or fresh. The flavor of the hot and spicy was fine, but the meager portion left me feeling ripped off. Owners? Charge a couple bucks more and double your portion size, kick the crappy salad and double the rice. It's the only way I would ever come back. You can't rip people off and expect a return visit.

The photo would be showing more, but I ate the food so quickly I forgot to take a photo...

Some people might say, "All Terriyaki chicken places are the same." Well, to them I say (as Frau Farbissina would): Lies. All LIES!!! Ichi Terriyaki is located in the Gateway promenade right off 102nd and Halsey. This place is definitely full of regulars from around the area, including me. I walked in tonight after a long hiatus away (I'm talking 8 months or longer), and the girl at the front says, "Welcome! It's been a while since I've seen you!" Wow- the memory on her! But the food, oh drool, the food- heavenly. Hands down one of the best chicken terriyaki dishes I've had. The portions are huge, with LOTS of perfectly marinated chicken and extra sauces (for you saucy types), and a side salad which is a perfect compliment to the dish. 4.5 stars for the only terriyaki joint in town that remembers my face after almost a year.

The food was so so not worth the money and if you take your food to go make sure to bring extra money for the hot sauce .25 a piece first and last time eating here

It may look good but beware it was perhaps the worst bento on the planet.

Byfar one of the worst teriyaki shops I have ever eaten at.... The only thing that was "decent" was the teriyaki on my bento however the tempura, california rolls and rice was the lowest quality I have experience in Portland so far. * The rice tasted like instant rice * California roll filling was dry like it was a few days old * Tempura batter tasted off and very dry

    Ribs 10.50
    Yadira M.

Got the ribs and were pretty good however had to return the first plate because it was raw and I'm pregnant so that's a big NO NO . Paid $10.50 for a small portion so this place is ok .. Not the best

The rice was soft, and the salmon skin was crispy with just a bit of tenderness left inside. Very satisfying texture and flavor. Edamame (3/5) Okay overall, but it was served cold (explicitly stated), which took away from it a bit. I prefer it warm. Inari (3/5) Decent and simple. Sake Nigiri (4/5) Good sized slices of salmon with a nice balance of fish and rice. Seared Salmon (5/5) Excellent. This is the main reason we keep coming back. Savory, tasty, and incredibly tender. Easily the standout dish of the meal. Chicken Katsu Don (3/5) Decent and filling. Comes with chicken katsu, rice, miso soup, and a small side salad with cucumber instead of seaweed salad. Solid but not memorable. Ambiance: This is a sushi train restaurant where you can grab plates from the conveyor belt or place special orders. There are many booths and bar-style seats. It works well for small groups and families. Four people fit comfortably, and six can work but a bit tight. Casual and busy atmosphere. Service (3/5): Generally attentive. Plates were cleared regularly, and staff checked in often enough. Nothing exceptional, but solid and reliable.

At first glance, the location can feel a little sketchy, but don't let that fool you. We started with the chicken momos, veggie momos, and bhel, and also shared a thukpa. We had originally planned to order the mutton thali as well, but we were so full by then that we decided to save it for another visit. The owner and staff were incredibly personable and took the time to chat with us about the restaurant and the dishes, which made the experience feel warm and welcoming. The food overall was fresh and flavorful. The gravy with the chicken momos was especially delicious. I personally didn't enjoy the veggie dumplings very much, and the thukpa felt just okay to me. Still, our friends spoke very highly of several other dishes, so I do think this is a place worth revisiting. I'm hoping to come back and end up just as enamored with it as many of the other reviewers seem to be.
