Yum! On a whim, I stopped by here and got half a dozen cupcakes, all different. Everything looked very clean and the display was enticing! After I got home I enjoyed cupcakes over a few days and every single one was absolutely scrumptious, even the ones that I had three or four days later! The cake was soft, the frosting was creamy and just the right amount of sweetness, not too much! The staff was really sweet and very well trained. They were able to answer all of my questions and they explained how the flavor rotation works. And ... did I mention yum? It's dangerous to live near something so delicious and so easy to obtain! read more

So frustrating. The cupcakes are excellent but they do a lousy job of updating their website/keeping it relevant and current. This is not the first time. They should be updating the site before the month starts, not 3 days after. If they can't keep their site updated and current, I'm not sure why they have it.‍ read more

One of my favorite things is that they have cupcake flavors that change depending on the season. Like right now between 8/15 - 8/21 they have a Carmel macchiato cupcake. The customer service has been fantastic each time I have been here. The cupcakes are around $3.50 a piece but this is a perfect example of you get what you pay for. When my wife and I had our son they also did our gender reveal food for thought. I would recommend to the single cupcake lovers and families as well. read more

I had not been into the store for 3-4 months because work had me on a crazy travel schedule. Prior to that, I was there every two weeks because the cupcakes are delicious. I am not sure if ownership has changed, but I swear the cupcakes are noticeably smaller. I am always disappointed when businesses find success, and then disrespect their customers by offering less of what made the business successful. Cupcakes are dry and too sweet. Overpriced for a dozen. I mean paying almost $40 for a dozen is crazy. I can make better at home. The vegan is made with margarine..Yuck! Maybe they spent too much money on a reconstruction that they forgot about flavor. read more

My wife saw their cupcake bouquet in an ad and asked for it for her birthday. I phoned early and placed the order. Went to pick it up and it looked better than the picture in the ad. The lady told me to be very careful transporting it as its fragile so I took extra care as I drove home holding the steering wheel with one hand, and the cupcake bouquet with the other. Got home and went inside to look it over again and it had fallen over. I never felt it tilt or hit any bumps I thought would topple it but there it was all messed up. So I called the shop, not to complain because they warned me, but to tell them they shouldnt be selling something so delicate that cant be transported. They said they hadnt had it happen before but, if I would come back in an hour, they'd have another ready for me. On one hand I was stunned and very happy that my wifes birthday dessert was saved. On the other, I felt bad because they warned me and thats fair game. So I brought my son back in an hour and the owner, Stephanie, and her sister came out to apologize. I told them how grateful I was and I apologized. I asked if I could give them a tip for the ruined cupcakes and they said to take them because they'd still taste good (and they do). Such grace and professionalism I havent seen from a business owner in years. Accidents happen all the time but its the way people deal with them that separates them from the average. Not only was the service out of the ordinary, but lets not forget the cupcakes. Besides looking great they tasted wonderful. Thanks again to all involved with saving the day. Even though they are a little out of the way for me, good service deserves to be rewarded so Ill be back asap. read more

Sweets sweets and some more sweets! It's like they find themselves right into my hands! I got suckered into going here this weekend! I was trying to be good...that didn't last very long! This is my friend's favorite cupcake place in Sacramento! She will drive miles and miles to get her cupcake, but I had to taste them myself to believe it. We all placed our order and walked out with three cupcakes. Two of them barely made it home, if that gave you any indication of how they tasted. I got the Pinkdelicious cupcake. It was so fresh, moist, and yummy. I can tell all you cupcake lovers, they weren't lying, DELICIOUS! I could have eaten a whole box of them! Icing on the cupcake has different flavors on different days of the week, so if you like a particular flavor, you got to look on the calendar and see what flavors they have for that day. I was a little disappointed, because I wanted to taste their stuffed sugar cookie. My friend said that this little cupcake cookie concoction is the best thing she's ever tasted! Cute little cupcake spot. My family and I only went in for a quick couple cupcakes thanks to Mother Nature's wrath on my hormones. It is located in a strip mall area with plenty of parking space, Rather large building they have so I assume they do cake and cupcake orders for special occasions. They had a couple samples up at the front and based some decisions off that. Each cupcake varies in price from $3-4 and they also had cookie sandwiches, ice cream sandwiches and mini mini pies. The cupcakes I ordered were maple bacon, Andre's mint chocolate, Boston cream, fudge, and 2 ice cream sandwiches. The ice cream sandwiches were made with what I think was a cakey version of a cookie, and I actually really liked that more than the cupcakes. The cupcakes were a little dry, but the buttercream frostings made up for it. Definitely sugar overload. I liked the mint cupcake personally. It would be better if a little more moist, and then a side of ice cream. Mmmm! Will be back lol! read more

I cannot even begin to express the emotions I had when I heard Icing on the Cupcake was opening back up in Rocklin. Elation. Hands down the best cupcakes I have ever had. Anywhere ever. I don't know what it is, but nothing else even comes close. The frosting is rich and creamy and the cake is moist and flavorful. I have never met a cupcake here I didn't like. I'm very traditional so my favorite flavors are the basic ones: 1. Chocolate Frosting and Yellow Cake 2. Chocolate Frosting and Chocolate Cake 3. Strawberry Frosting and Strawberry Cake Some other good ones I have tried are their Vanilla/Vanilla, Cappuccino, Peanut Butter/Chocolate, Chocolate Snowball and my Husband likes their Maple Bacon. They have a menu of flavors that you can get everyday as well as a weekly rotating list of special flavors that are only available on a particular day of the week. If that wasn't enough they also have a monthly flavor that they make special just for that month. They carry a small selection of merchandise and drinks and sell their frosting by the tub. You can also get mini pies, bars and cookies if cupcakes aren't your thing but the selection is small and sporadic. Prices are right in line at the $3.00 mark which isn't bad for the quality you are getting. Employees are always friendly and patient as I stare at the cupcakes and try to make a decision. Just came by for a free birthday cupcake, good thing it was free because I would not have paid for the cupcake that I got. I have loved icing on the cupcake for a long time but there was such a drop in quality and customer service I was shocked! They are known for their thick, signature frosting, but when I went in today all of their pink delicious cupcakes had a very thin of frosting on them. The I got was one of the thicker ones. I included a picture of my cupcake and what I found online (which is the quality I'm used to receiving). The staff was very rude, she was not pleasant or kind at all. I'm disappointed to see such a drop in both the quality of the cupcakes as well as the customer service. read more

I'm SO glad my favorite cupcake shop has reopened! These suckers are not your average, store-bought cupcakes where you end up scraping off half of the frosting before you eat it. These cupcakes are DENSE, with a similar consistency to cornbread, and are not too intoxicatingly sweet, which is great. Their buttercream frosting is also thicker than most others, made fresh, and again not too sweet. They even sell their buttercream by itself in containers, which makes for a better alternative over pre-made icing on grocery store shelves. As for flavors, Red Velvet is a must! Snickerdoodle and their classic Vanilla are tied for Second. Keep an eye out for their seasonal flavors and daily specials. Their current seasonal flavor, Tropical Dream, is just that, and perfect for fans of toasted coconut. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and their atmosphere and interior design help make Icing on the Cupcake the sweetest cupcake shop in town. read more

Yummage! I love their cupcakes! The Red Velvet is probably my favorite but I could be easily swayed by any of these treats. They have a wide selection of tasty treats in here. The display case empties out if it is busy but there is usually more around the shop. I wish this location had a bit more space to it. The counter/display case is pretty small which creates some crowding when more than a few people get in here at once and this place is pretty popular so........ The staff is very nice and helpful. Location is always clean. It always smells great too, probably because it is full of cupcakes :-) Definitely worth a stop. read more

Cupcake places are the new sushi joints. They are EVERYWHERE. This gem has been in Rocklin for years, just on the other side of town, so I had never been. I am a huge fan of Cupcake Wars, and during my work day I pass this damn place like 10x a day. It's very inviting with the decor on the outside and the smell of cupcakes. I caved in the other day. SO GLAD I DID. I swear to god these cupcakes are so thick and moist that it's like a meal. They have a ton of different flavors and combos, and are open til 7pm :) They even have a recycling program, if you bring back the ribbon and box, you get a free cupcake! This use to be my favorite cupcake place on this Earth! The red velvet was to die for! However, recently I have stopped eating gluten, so no more delicious cupcakes for me, sooooo I decided to live vicariously through my boyfriend and buy him the amazingly different flavors I've seen on their website. And from what they tell me the cupcakes are darn good. The boyfriend said the rootbeer float could be a little more rootbeer and a little less chocolate, but overall everything was great. (He had four by the way- Mint chocolate, confetti, rootbeer float, and cookies and cream) If you love cupcakes you should try this place! For $2.75 the german chocolate cupcake I had was nothing special. Cake was over-cooked, slightly too dry. Frosting overly sugared, too sweet. Too much frosting to hide the sin of commission - overcooked cake... I've had gourmet cupcakes from plenty of the new wave places all over the USA. This place ranks pretty low to the bottom for flavor, mouth feel, and value. BTW: 4 of us visited. We all ordered coffee. They use a Keurig type machine for 1 shot at a time. Somewhat surprised that the customer service was so poor. I was wxcited to come in and pick up some cup cakes for my husband's birthday. The lady ignored me while she talked on the phone, then when she got off, immediately took out the entire sheet of oreo cupcakes and said she is selling these to someone else... pause, oh but you can take 3. She was unhelpful as i tried to figure out what i wanted. I was thinking of getting a dozen but narrowed it down to some baby bites and a few larger ones. I had moved away from the Bay, back to Phoenix, for a couple years and was SO devastated to hear my favorite cupcake bakery in the world had closed (and, if you've read my previous reviews, my nomad consisted of finding the best cupcake bakeries and targets ;p). Just moved back to the Bay and was back in Sacto/Roseville for work for the past week. SO happy that even with new ownership, at least one bakery was still open. By the good Target too ;). While my Pistachio fave has apparently been retired (sad face), got my Choc-Vanilla, Vanilla-Vanilla, and two gingerbreads- yep ALL FOR ME. Got a variety of minis for my training group who, all from the area, had never had one of these amazing cupcakes! Dude! They loved the Pink Delicious and Red Velvet, of course.
