Just went here with my wife for the first time in honor of my Mémère for Mothers Day, and this might be my favorite bakery I've ever been to taste wise, no lie. Every single thing was better than expected and somehow better than it looked. The pistachio eclaire might be one of my all time favorite desserts, incredible. The "egg" sandwich of the day was unique, beautiful and full of flavor, and tasty coffee as well. The orange blossom cream dessert was also a standout with perfect ratio of flavors and essences that are usually super difficult to get right. The place is cute and seating is tight on a busy day but perfect little tables for you or a date or small family. Also the staff were all extra friendly and helpful with questions. Got here on a Saturday morning to get eclairs. The display is very aesthetic - very colorful! We got the espresso eclair and pistachio eclair - both are very sweet (a bit too sweet for our taste). Wish the sweetness is not super overpowering but everything was super aesthetic to look at! There are a couple seats inside! I passed this place on my way to the gym and decided to stop in and check it out. This cozy little café is charming and the fresh flowers on each table are a nice touch. When you walk in you'll notice the delicious smell of baked goods that permeate the air and the pastries in the display case, which are beautiful works of art. ID-Éclair is a French style plant-based bakery that specializes in eclairs, macarons, croissants, & pastries. They also serve coffee, tea, juices, desserts in a jar, & a small selection of soup, salads, & sandwiches. As a certified pastry chef, I was taught that you need quality butter to make excellent pastry, so I was a bit skeptical. It was early so the cases weren't full yet. I ordered a jalapeño & cheese croissant and a Napoleon so I could test that theory out. The gentleman behind the counter was kind & courteous. I'll admit, I was impressed. The croissant was perfect. Crispy, flaky outside and buttery, soft, & fluffy inside. I enjoyed the spiciness of the jalapeño. I didn't notice the cheese but it had a nice flavor & consistency. The Napoleon was also exceptionally good. A bit different than the Italian version that I am used to. The pastry base was crunchy with a little bit of flakiness. The pastry cream had a nice consistency & flavor. The puff pastry on top was still crispy and not soggy, which indicates it was freshly made that morning, and the thin layer of icing added the right amount of sweetness. Both passed the test. I can definitely say that ID-ECLAIR on Green Street and S Pasadena Ave in old town Pasadena is our new favorite patisserie for coffee and all plant based pastries. It's our third time here and everytime we come we feel very welcome and comfortable. Service by all staff, and especially by Jackson and Alfredo is superb. The place is cozy, very well designed and very clean. Coffee Americano is very good, Café Latte is smooth and tasty. The regular croissant is flaky on the outside and soft in the inside. Canele, vanilla éclair and macaroons are simply delicious. Worth mentioning again everything baked in here is dairy free. They also have cakes, fresh baked bread, and a wine bar right next door. This vegan bakery is a few doors down from my hair salon. I remember noticing it when it was under construction. I didn't notice it again until today, because it now has outdoor seating on the sidewalk and in a pandemic-era style street patio. Shame on me for not trying it earlier; it's been open since late December! I'm not vegan, and I only recall ever trying one other vegan bakery, Bakers Bench in Victor Heights, a lovely and delish but much smaller scale business. ID-Eclair is French pastry chef Romuald Guiot's baby. Based on ID-Eclair's logo and with my limited knowledge of French, I believe the full name is "La Idee Eclair". The letters I and D are pronounced "ee-day", which sounds like the word "idee", which means idea or concept. The place offers a wide variety of baked goods: croissants sweet and savory, danishes sweet and savory, eclairs, tarts and macarons. They also offer "petits plats" of toasts and sandwiches, plus a daily soup and several salads. Coffees, teas and hot chocolate beverages. In the grab-and-go case are Chef Romy's popular desserts-in-a-jar, other packaged and jarred items and beverages. The on-site bakery area can be seen beyond the display and service area, and also through windows from the street. There is a charming indoor dining area plus the aforementioned outdoor areas. Next door is La Cave, a small wine bar that also serves petits plats. It opens in the late afternoon. Here's what I ordered: 1) Blueberry danish. A large elongated oval of puff pastry topped with a not-too-sweet blueberry compote. The pastry was deliciously flaky and crisp, but of course lacked the butter flavour only the high-fat dairy product can provide. 2) Mushroom danish. Fresh mushrooms on the same puff pastry oval. 3) Raspberry tart. Oh-so-pretty and delish with a crust and pastry cream that I could not tell was dairy-free. 4) Sandwich du jour, which was French pate. Served on a toasted seeded baguette with a salad, the sandwich had a rich pate, cornichons and greens (arugula?). Mighty fine. Vegan-schmegan, at least for me. *whistles through teeth* Wow. Croissants, eclairs, focaccia, macarons, baguettes, financiers, danishes, and several other things I can't even pronounce. And all of it plant-based? Get the eff out of here. I walked into ID-Eclair maybe three or four weeks back. There was no mention of "vegan" on the menu or in the case, so I asked. "Any of this vegan?" The guy looks at me, shrugs, and says, "All of it." And that, is how my new obsession began. Their approach is they don't need to boast about how vegan everything is. Honestly, you can't tell. Everything is exquisite, enjoy it, don't get tripped up on labels. If you snag a box of these goodies and head into the office, not one person will say anything other than, "Holy shit, can I have another one?" This place is four blocks from my kid's school, and directly on my route home, so now, I've got a mild pastry problem that I need to keep in check. Are four visits in one week too much? I'm going to tell myself it's not. I started working through the croissants, both sweet options and savory, before moving to the fruit tarts and macarons. The danishes are fantastic, again both sweet and savory, with the leek and olive oil coming in first place for me. My wife digs the tomato danish, and the blueberry is also up there if I want to lean towards sweet. I've tried the palmiers, cinnamon twists, and anything else I can get my hands on. The variety changes, often with "du jour" items that rotate. There are probably half a dozen choices of croissants alone. Chocolate and almond, jalapeño and cheese, raspberry, "ham" and cheese, it's everything a croissant lover could dream of. After plowing through the baked goods, I moved on to the sandwiches, salads, and soups. Fresh, tasty, and satisfying. I think my wife and I got the daily sandwich every lunch for three or four days straight. They use high-end vegan cheeses that pair awesomely with freshly baked bread. The richness of the cheese is pulled back by the arugula and heirloom tomato. Sublime. It's a lovely spot. Small tables with comfy chairs and many windows providing incredible natural light create a great place to relax and enjoy your bites. The staff are beyond friendly and knowledgeable about their craft (shout out to Emily). It's just a great place to hang out and live a little. Even when I'm in a rush, their '$5 plain croissant and a coffee' deal pulls me in whether I like it or not. A fourth-generation French baker runs the place, and I promise he knows precisely what he's doing. It's beyond good. It's great. And one hell of an addition to the neighborhood. read more

Stopped by this vegan French pastry shop before leaving town. The beauty of the desserts was a site to behold. The cases were stocked with eclairs, tarts, macarons, and more. We tried the classic eclair in both chocolate and pistachio. The pistachio was oozing with filling and had a robust pistachio flavor. The chocolate was good, but second in ranking for sure. Once I spotted the Dubai chocolate cups, I knew I'd have to try them. The cream on top was pillowy soft and the crunchy inside was a nice contrast of textures. I also ordered a hot tea, which although was a huge 20oz size, cost almost $7. This place, with its delicious and eye catching treats, is worth a splurge every so often. ID-Eclair is a vegan French bakery, two words I never would have imagined strung together! Haha. I'm not vegan but I love French pastries and was curious to see how vegan versions would compare. And oh my goodness, the pastries were tre magnifique! I ordered a Jalapeno croissant, jalapeno danish du jour, and a leek danish du jour. All three viennoiseries were phenomenal. But more importantly, how in the world did they get the croissants to be so flaky and "buttery" when they're entirely vegan?! I'm telling you, it's magic - it has to be. There is just no scientific explanation for how these vegan croissants had such an authentic taste and texture! All three were flaky and crispy and well balanced. If I hadn't purchased them at a fully plant-based bakery I would have never known; that's how amazing and indistinguishable it all was. They also offer a collection of imported teas, and the Fluer de geisha tea (green tea with cherry blossom notes) was the perfect accompaniment to an already delicious morning meal. I ordered a palmier, a couple of macarons, a fruit tart, a Napoleon, and a chocolate tart. The staff was super nice and welcoming, which is why I'm giving them 3 stars. Food-wise: * The lemon macaron was fresh and well balanced, with just the right sweetness. * The raspberry macaron was too sweet for me, but the shell was crisp with a soft inside. * The fruit tart and Napoleon were a bit disappointing--the pastry base was too soft and soggy, though the custard filling was delicious and not overly sweet. * The chocolate tart was also too sweet, and again the crust lacked the flakiness I was hoping for. a vegan french pastry wow i couldn't wait to try when i heard about this place and was so happy when i finally did. they have so many options! but i wanted to stick to the classics; regular croissant and pain au chocolat. i ate both of them UP!! my only gripe is that i prefer my pastries warm so i asked for both warmed up and idk if they put it in 400° ovens to do so but both were pretty much burnt like the top layer wasn't good and crispy to a fault. it was honestly upsetting lol maybe if i didn't ask for it to be warmed and did it myself in the microwave it would be different but yeah. regardless, i am definitely coming back to try their other items :)! read more

A new, completely VEGAN French bakery in Old Town Pasadena on the NE corner of Pasadena Ave and Green Street. I love this bakery! It is clean and nicely decorated with a good amount of seating. I didn't see any outlets, so might not be a spot to hunker down with your laptop. There is an amazing offering of viennoiserie from plain croissants to eclairs to macarons to tarts. They have savory and sweet options. I have tried a lot of different items during my three visits thus far. Everything is fresh, delectable, and satisfying. I had a raspberry croissant the other day and I cannot stop talking about it - flakey layers of croissant interlaced with a fluffy raspberry cream bursting with flavor! They also serve caffeinated and decaf espresso drinks. There is a refrigerated section where they offer decadent desserts in a jar too! The staff greet you with "bonjour" when you enter. Wow. Such a great place. The pastries are so fresh and the strawberry eclair I ordered was absolutely amazing. Not a simple canned strawberry crème or basic filling. But a well made full of flavor strawberry delight. Even the fresh sliced strawberry on top of the eclair was paired with a rich chocolate "binder" (my term) I loved the flavor and I haven't mention these are all made in house. You can glimpse the kitchen and I saw the chef working his magic. You know service and staff is high on my list and they are all personable and friendly. Kudos. It does provide a low key Parisian atmosphere albeit in an American city. But this place is charming and Green street does lend itself to a cafe vibe. Are my girlfriend and I crazy enough to travel 2 hours through an active windstorm in search of a new vegan gem? Yes we are. Was it worth it? Absolutely. In the midst of all the closures plaguing the 2025 vegan restaurant scene, visiting ID-eclair sparked in me a newfound hope that an all-vegan business can thrive against all odds. There are a mere handful of all-vegan bakeries out there, and this one does everything right. Right as we stepped in, we were greeted with an enthusiastic "Bonjour" from Emily and Alfredo. The interior was stunning, with the pastries delicately and intentionally lined up behind pristinely clear glass. Emily and Alfredo were knowledgeable about the pastries and enthusiastically explained their offerings. Listening to them made us want to try everything. We felt so compelled that we spent over $50 on just the pastries alone. We topped it off with a hot chocolate and iced Americano. Macarons - I'd say these are the best vegan macarons around. I'm a big fan of Veron for their vegan macarons, but I'd say ID-eclair has a slight edge. I noticed that the fillings are very generous which was great for someone with a sweet tooth like me, but too overpowering for my girlfriend. Chocolate croissant - My girlfriend loved these because of how conservative they were with the sugar. I got the impression that they were focusing on the flakiness and quality of the pastry rather than the sweetness. She says that this is the closest to non-vegan croissants she's tasted. Would recommend if you don't like your pastries to be overly sweet. Hot chocolate & iced americano - pretty solid. I don't know how excited I am that this French Vegan Pastry Shop opened. The pastry Chef, Chef Romy, who baked all the pastries is so talented. I get it that there are already vegan pastry bakers out there made croissants and macarons. But this one is a truly French Vegan Pastry Chef! What's exciting the most is the eclairs. We have been looking for vegan eclairs for 20-25 years since we became lacto vegetarians then vegans. There has been no one could make it as good as the non vegan eclairs until now. I have tried to make them at home too and failed miserably, several times. The pastry puffed up but the inside is not cooked. These eclairs are hollowed with no uncooked bits inside them. The filling was piped in through a hole made on the pastry. It is truly an eclair. There are variety of flavors and they are all delicious! The croissants, macarons, Mille Feuille or Napoleon, baguette, soup, etc. are so so delicious! The soup changes daily. The coffee and lattes were delicious also. It is getting so popular that often it is sold out or only a few items left near the end of closing time. My suggestion is to come early. read more

Run or drive, but don't walk to this beautiful French Cafe/Bakery in Pasadena! We were so graciously greeted in French with smiles all around. Alfred and Carly were very welcoming! This cafe/bakery offers coffee, tea, food, and a variety of enticing baked goods, including vegan and gluten-free. Usually, when I ask for gluten-free pastries at other establishments, I am offered only one or two, but not here at ID Eclair! Alfred was more than gracious with pointing out the numerous pastries they offered. He was so well-informed and was sincerely happy to answer and tend to my many inquiries. My eyes and heart opened wide with such joy at all the options! The ultimate treat was when we took our first bite. Oh my gosh! I have never tasted gluten-free this good anywhere! Even my husband, who is 'allergic' to any healthy desserts, commented (with his happy eyes), "This is awesome!" That was his first bite of the Strawberry Tart. I followed suit, because it was gluten-free, and WOW! The perfectly glazed stawberry with the creamy custard and buttery crust all blended so nicely in your mouth like a beautiful melody! It wasn't at all overly sweet, but so perfectly balanced that it made you want more. Oh did I mention it's gluten-free? Can't wait to try the other tarts! Then it was my turn to try the Canneles. This very simple-looking and unassuming mini-bundt-cake-looking pastry was the most delicious surprise I didn't know I needed! It was like unwrapping a gift! The outside was superbly caramelized and crunchy with a mochi-like and tender vanilla custard center. All my favorite things in one! And gluten-free! I also ordered a decaf latte with coconut milk...this dairy alternative was another win in my book because I am also dairy-, oat-, and nut-free. Again, very difficult finding many cafés offering this. It was a delicious blend and perfect boldness. It wasn't just sweet milk, like other major chains. I'd also like to note that Alfred was a superstar! We initially thought we were going to order and go, but his hospitality and helpful attitude made us want to stay to enjoy our treats and learn more about what this Bakery had to offer. When I asked about their tea selections, he immediately gave us a menu and had us smell each tea jar...I wanted to buy them all! Then he showed us their gluten-free bread loaf and the different custom cakes they offer. We left there with a loaf of gluten-free bread, some gluten-free chocolate cookies, two tea pouches, and the best experience with a promise to return for their tea party and as lifetime patrons! The eclairs were wayyyy too sweet and they were soggy. Unfortunately i could not eat them they were so sickly sweet and soggy. I took one bite of each and had to throw them out. I figured their name has to do with eclairs so they must be good? Maybe i got some that were a day or two old? Either way i would skip the eclairs. The baguette on the other hand was solid. For full disclosure this is a reviews based off my employees feelings as I purchased these for her for her birthday and she is vegan When I walked into this shop I was amazed how amazing looked. It was a very diverse offering and I started looking through the display case trying to find the vegan items. When I struggled a bit the cashier asked me if I had any questions so I asked which items were vegan. I was shocked to find out everything in the store was vegan!!!! Like what?!?! How was that even possible. Everything looked it legit had the bestest cream and delicious butter. I was so wrong. I purchased half dozen macaroons, a millefuille (ya probably misspelled it cause I'm not French) and a strawberry tart. She called me 10 minutes after I dropped them off with what felt like tears coming out. She said she's never had any vegan pastries like this in her life. I felt so happy to know she got to enjoy these delicious treats for her birthday. The place is pretty big (I think another shop attached?) and had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I've come here more than 3 times and I'm surprised I have not written a review yet. This spot is 100% vegan. Gluten free pastries are labeled on the menu. Alfredo always gives great service and is always very friendly. He's very knowledgeable about all the food and pastries. So far I've had the soup of the day twice on different days. One of them had roasted bell peppers and the other one had eggplant. Very good. Croissants are super flaky. They also have macarons and eclairs. There's a mini mart where they sell jams (ie: tropical, blueberry, pineapple), spread (ie: salted caramel), chocolate that have season designs (ie: Christmas trees), cookies, biscuits, and much more! For food, they have sandwiches, salads, cheeseboards (rebel cheese), and quiches. Alcohol they got wines. Ask them for a food menu. They got tea time with a lot of different teas. They got coffee, fresh pressed OJ, and hot chocolate as well. There's music playing but it's not that loud so you can have conversations. There's a bar in the back. I came to the store today 1/28/26. There were 2 guys at the counter, one wear cap hat, the other one wear glasses. I came with intention to have an afternoon tea. At first I asked is there any dubai bites, they say no. But I still want dubai bites. But I think I want the afternoon tea. So I said I want an afternoon tea. The guy with glasses said, "No, this is only for 2 people. You have to bring another person." I was by myself. I felt cornered. I said, "What do you mean?" He: "Tea party is designed for 2 people, not 1 people." Me: What do you mean? I am aware the price is $70. What's the difference if 1 person eats, or 2 people eat? If I pay that much. Are you saying I am not allowed to have an afternoon tea because I am alone? He: You can, but I won't recommend it. Me: Why? He said he doesn't want the food go wasted. I said, I can make it (the remaining) to go, right? If I go to other afternoon tea in other places, they always give me box to go. He: I can give you a box to go, but I won't recommend it. Me: Why? He: Because for example, if you don't finish the soup, we cannot make it to go. So this guy is full of judgement thinking that I want to make the soup to go. At first I was very well aware, the soup is 2 small pots, and I was hungry, who wants to make it to go? If I eat the soup, the cake, or not, it's not his business. I am willing to pay this much, it is up to me, to finish it or not. Basically he kept push me away from buying. Then I saw there were 3 dubai bites on the fridge, I asked if I can have that in my afternoon tea. He said, no, it's for other people. Basically we're arguing back and forward. And then somewhere along the way he said, "We can do that." Me: Can do what? He: You can come back tomorrow. Me: ??? I don't have time tomorrow. I only have time today. Then I also said, I bought French garden tea (a week ago). [I didn't remember who made the tea, but it's a guy, and he was nice, not him, probably the guy with the cap] But I didn't taste anything, I only taste water. I didn't taste the pear nor raspberry. But after I finished drinking, I only taste the caffeine aftertaste. He: Is it iced tea? Me: yes He: We can steep it longer for you. We can put sugar, etc.. (like I was the problem) That's not what I meant. What I meant is, there is a quality control issue. Me: I am not even supposed to tell you (what to do, steep it longer, etc.). You are not supposed to sell something like this. I wasn't even asking for money back. I was just informing about the quality issue. He: You are the only one who complaint about this. No other customer ever complaint about this. He continued gaslighting me. Again, I was cornered. My thought is: 1. perhaps not so many people ordered french garden ice tea, it was winter. There are so many different kind of teas. 2. lack of training, lack of communication. Forget that ice tea needs stronger tea. 3. customers usually don't speak up. They just don't buy. Then he made a tea for himself, and drink it. And he said, "it taste okay for me". He kept defending himself. Whatever it is, he's never wrong. I am the problem. We are just arguing back and forward. At this moment I lost my appetite. I said, "you are rude!" He: I am not rude. I lost words. I cannot win the argument. He won. I left, without buying anything. Id Eclair is a low key coffee stop off Colorado with a calm, welcoming vibe. The staff greeted me with a friendly bonjour right when I walked in, which set the tone. Service felt relaxed and genuine. I ordered the espresso, and it was strong. No messing around. Bold, intense, and definitely for people who like their coffee to hit hard. They had a solid display of baked goods that looked great, especially the pastries, but I did not grab any this time. The space stayed quiet while I was there, with only one other person coming in. Great corner French patisserie in Pasadena The quiche I ordered was delicious! Fluffy, perfectly flavored, and the pastry crust was firm and crisp. This was my favorite item we ordered. Also got a chocolate croissant, macarons of various flavors, a pistachio eclair, Paris Brest (hazelnut eclair), and two drinks. The chai latte was a bit milky but okay. Wouldn't order it again. Also tried the pistachio eclair at the cafe/bakery and it was sweet but not overly so. The service was quick and prompt. Everyone is friendly. They have seating space available inside and outside. If you order a pastry to eat there they'll serve it on the cutest vintage looking china. The to go boxes are nice. It shares space with another French looking business (La Cave). They also do custom order cakes and have a monthly macaron masterclasses . They have a tea for two that's $70 ($35 for every extra person) which might be worth it if you're ordering a bunch of stuff. This place is great and worth a trip for anyone who wants to try a vegan French patisserie. But it is a bit pricey. So we be ready to spend money. read more

Chef Romy's quiches are wonderful. Their buttery pastry crust is layered and crisp and baked perfectly. The heart is creamy but firm and delicious, and suspends its mushrooms, or spinach, or bac'n (or other treats that I haven't --yet-- tried). 100% wonderful. A new French owned bakery in Pasadena shop. The venue is bright, clean and pretty. For our first visit, we tried the expresso and pistachio eclairs. Wow, these were decadent presentations with very tasty fillings and nice texture. We loved them both but they were pretty expensive for a rather modest size éclair. Will definitely return when we want a special treat. read more

Grabbed a couple of delicious pastries to take to a friend's and one to savor at home for later. Nice open space to view all the pastries. Not much seating and the noise level is pretty loud from all the happy diners inside. Not really much ambiance outside, but ok to grab and go. read more
