Pretty much never going back to this location again. I'm going to start with the service. Our server never came to our table when we were seated so we had no idea who would be helping us. When we finally managed to flag one down after a long wait, he told us to wait as he proceeded to help another table that was seated after us. He took our orders after that but he was rushed. He got us our waters and placed it hurriedly on the table with the water splashing out, wetting our table, and we had to ask for straws because he held the rim of the glasses. One of his co-workers had to provide the straws because he was nowhere in sight. We had to ask for syrup twice. In the end, he introduced a co-worker that was taking over because he was going to lunch. We still tipped generously because his co-worker ended up giving us superb service more than he did. Now the food. The T-Bone steak we ordered was so raw, it looked disgusting. It was ordered as medium rare. We sent it back to the kitchen and when we got it back, they had just burned the outside. We ended up not eating it. The pancakes were burned from the outside and was hard. The chicken tenders were also burned and tasted like something you can buy at the grocery store. Horrible. The hosts always put you in one room with the other customers even if another room is available. If you ask to be seated in the second room, they say no. Also, unless you ask for a different seat they sit you in the next booth to where customers are already seated. During the covid epidemic they should seat people as far a possible away from each other. But, apparently, management is only thinking of convenience. This one is very packed too - be prepared for a 30 min wait minimum on the weekend but if you love IHOP items you won't be disappointed! If it was late and I felt like going to a diner, I would go to Dupars, but I decided to go Ihop since this one looked decent and clean. I kindly and quietly waited for over an hour asking if someone would take my order for fish and chips, and instead was completely ignored. A server named Edwin said he'd be to my table four times in one hour, then did not come, but walked me many times, seating new customers and taking their orders. When he did finally come over, he told me to be out in 40 min, because I hadn't ordered anything, despite the fact that I had gotten their attention numerous times, then I was quietly waiting and starving and eating dinner later than usual because travel plans were cancelled. I cannot believe he refused to grant me service. I have never, in my life, had an establishment deny me service, or refuse to take an order. It is prohibited under equal protection law and was an act of discrimination. It is an Ihop, not the Ritz, and they know the laws, and your staff should be reminded of them. I am completely shocked and appalled and went without dinner last night. I starved. Edwin even bullied me out 10 min earlier than the amount of time he said I had to leave in, before my car got there and I, a young woman, had to wait alone in the street for 20 minutes for my Uber, which is dangerous. $74 for breakfast for two! Unbelievable! I want to say that I will never set foot in an IHOP again but that would be hyperbole. Suffice it to say that I felt robbed. I will say that I think I got double charged for hashbrowns that shouldn't have been there and that would've taken about seven dollars off the bill including tax and tip. My Family and I enjoy coming here on the weekends, Most of the time during the day. Came in last night, which is was a terrible idea. No one was at the host stand. It wasn't busy at all but it seemed like they were only a few workers. We ordered, the server came back later on with them. Server never came back after that to check on us. Were done with our meal, our appetizer came. I've worked at a restaurant before, but the server didn't apologize. She seemed bothered that we didn't want it. After that, she never came back. On this particular Friday night, a friend and I were coming from a performance of "12 Angry Men" at the Pasadena Playhouse compliments of Yelp, and met another bud to shoot the shit and catch up with each other. This was one of our old haunts as we grew up and held many fond memories. Since it was no-meat Friday for me and I wasn't in the mood for breakfast food, I went in a new direction I'd never done before at any IHOP - real food! Here's how it went down for me: Buttermilk-Battered Fish & Chips ($10.69) - As imagined, my selections were limited until I came across this menu item. I'm always down for fish & chips! So, served-up were two buttermilk-battered fillets with a side of tartar sauce, seasoned chips (fries), and a slice of garlic bread. I was pleasantly surprised at the two decently-sized fillets and the batter was thicker than I'm used to but it worked. It was light and flaky and the fish (don't know what kind) was steaming hot and broke apart nicely as you pierced your fork through it. The tartar sauce was kind of running but no big deal. Parking - Located in an outdoor shopping center along with a Vons, Rite Aid, Honey-Baked Ham, and more, there were ample free parking spots to be had. Atmosphere, décor, ambience - Fifties' diner nostalgia updated with vibrant warm colors, there were multiple upholstered booths and wooden tables and chairs throughout every nook and cranny; yes, it was kind of crammed. Windows surrounded this business so plenty of natural (also from the street) as well as electric lighting. Some framed pictures hung from the walls. I didn't recall any TVs but I believed I heard background music. Attire - I was in business casual wear since I came from the theatre, but otherwise it's casual all the way, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, my first non-breakfast meal at the Glendale IHOP wasn't too bad and I'd recommend my entrée, but come on, you came here for pancakes, waffles, etc., and I'd stick with those staple dishes. In previous times the service has been lackluster so hopefully they could work on this. I was happy that it's now 24-hours, but I had two outstanding grievances - ability to pay at the table and a better waiting area/system. Historically speaking, I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (total bill was around $11.00 before tip). Went in today for breakfast. We ordered regular pancakes, vegetable omelet with egg white. Sandra was our server and she was super nice and pleasant. She was constantly checking up on us to make sure we are ok and we don't need anything. Food was great and I asked for my omelet to be well done and that's how I got it. Candidly I went for the $4.99 2x2x2 meal with unlimited pancakes. Angel was my server and was superb. He was pleasant, cheerful and always asking the right question throughout my visit. When you order coffee, you get a entire carafe at your table. The place serves a real value meal, super fast, in a positive and clean atmosphere. It had been over 30 years since I went to an IHOP. Frankly, I never "loved" their pancakes and that has not changed for me. It's tooo freaking small.. I hate the layout.. I hate that where you wait is also where the kitchen is so when you finally are called you walk right in between the waitress service area.. I don't need someone else hair in my food just because they walked too close to the service area.
