Prior to this recent experience, their food was just ok, service variable...but this recent experience, the bf found a rather thick black hair in his hash browns and our server was no where to be found....I don't think they can handle large volumes of people at a time. Our bacon was overcooked, toast never arrived and eggs had an over powering taste of butter. Also, don't get any of their specialty coffees--we tried the French vanilla flavoured coffee and I have to say, while no aficionado, was the worst coffee I've drank in my life; watery, flavourless and expensive ($3.99) Drive down the road to a 7-11 and get better from a machine. read more

Showed up to an almost empty restaurant. Stood at host stand for over 10 minutes while being ignored by a number of employees who were doing absolutely NOTHING but watching us stand there waiting to be seated, with one employee walking back and forth carrying full trash bag to and from the bathrooms and never stopping to seat us, nor did they bother to tell anyone to help us. Never got greeted. After a long wait we left to go to another restaurant. Not sure how management explains the lack of business to corporate and still allowed to be a manager, but this place is an absolute joke! Employees and managers are not worthy of their jobs! Today we went to IHOP and was totally impressed with the service we received from our server Jocel. I would say she was one of the best servers I ever had at a restaurant. Polite, happy and totally on it! Food was good as usual and came pretty quick despite of the restaurant being a little busy for lunch. Oh so mediocre, you know what you're getting with IHOP- chain restaurant right? If you want everything so so, and you've got a craving for breakfast food-it's easy enough. I ordered cupcake pancakes and it was terrible. Not even joking, no consistency with the batter that the pancake was burnt on the outside but the inside crumbled apart. Lol I didn't finish it. My bacon was meh, but at least my hash browns were good! Convenient location with plenty of parking (free). Surprised that this place was so busy! For such mediocre food, there was a steady crowd the entire time we ate. Pricing is reasonable, so it's not bad to take larger groups here. Wait staff was nice enough, not intrusive but not crazy attentive either- had to flag the waitress down for water refills at least a few times. Ate at IHOP for brunch today and they were busy! Service was okay, our server took about 10 minutes to come to our table to offer us water and to take our order. I've been here so many times, but I always forget to write a review. Today, it was very accommodating when we ask them that I needed a space for my baby's stroller. When we sat, we waited almost probably 10min to get ask for our drinks. Another almost 10min, to get our drink and ask for our orders. Then when we got our foods and gave us the pancake instead of french toast. She did replaced to correct order and gave the pancake to her friend visiting from the next table. They still make the foods okay, but I think the good customer service needs to bring back. Took my grandchildren to IHOP because they saw commercial on the Holiday green pancakes, got there 12/05/19 6pm. NO JOLLY PANCAKES AVAILABLE! 2nd time unable to get the special, the other was Oct 2019 the Halloween pancakes. You cannot go wrong with the comfort food selection of IHOP. IHOP have different specials that seem to change with holidays and seasons. The prices here have gone up in recent years. Expect to pay around $50 for a family of three. The wait service fluctuates from a worst rating of one to an awesome rating of five. Today's service was a 3.5 because it did appear our waitress was having a stressful day. It showed in her angry looking face and her, "I'm in a rush" attitude. There was no wait to be seated due to the restaurant being only half filled. We had a choice between a table or booth, which we chose the booth. I ordered the Country Omelette with wheat toast and the wifey got the a special which consisted of eggs, bacon, two-scoops of rice (sub for the hash browns) with Oreo pancakes. Wifey's food was awesome. My omelette was great! My toast crust were all burnt. Yep, obviously burnt!! I was laughing when she brought it to me because what person would accept such a chard piece of bread. All four pieces was burnt on all edges. And not just slightly burnt, black burnt. I asked the waitress to take it back, which she did immediately. She came back a short time later with another set that was burnt. She immediately apologized and said the cook tried again, but it keeps coming out this way. I'm guessing their toaster is either dirty or is failing. I thank her for trying and just took it. I ate the centers of the toast and left the burnt crust in the plate. Other than the black burnt toast, the food was good. A few of my relatives invited me to IHOP for New Year's breakfast. I had several bad experiences before but decided would give another go. The service still needs work, we had the majority of our food within 30 mins. but had waited another 15 mins. for my son to get his. He said it's a call by call that they would honor this price. Why is that so? If it is advertised as such ALL IHOP's should follow suit. I told my husband to make sure to check order. They were missing hot cakes that were supposed to come with the omelette. He had to argue with staff to get it. With them pinching on order they receive a crappy review. Well, this is a IHOP, so there isn't too much to say. It is typical of the chain and most IHOPs I have been too. It is located in the Maui Mall and has ample easy parking. We arrived around 5 pm for an early dinner. They were short staffed, so even though there were many empty tables we had to wait about 10 mins to be seated. Our waters were brought over right away, and we placed our order within 5 mins of sitting down. We all decided to go with breakfast, but we also put in an order for mozzarella sticks to start with as we were hungry. The food came quickly. The mozzarella sticks came first, and were served hot and with a nice sized portion. Perfect for the four of us to share. Next came out our breakfasts. All of our eggs and hash browns were served lukewarm. We sent them back, and we quickly received another plate that was nice and hot. Our crepes were really good. I had the Swedish style ones, and the others had the red velvet special. My son ordered the happy face pancake from the kids menu, it was a good size, and he really enjoyed it. Overall the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, the coffee was good, and they usually have some kind of deal going on. Majority of the time we don't have problems here, but we ran into an issue with Lisa, the well-known server who's been working here for years. Don't get me wrong, she has an INCREDIBLE memory for order taking because she doesn't write it down like any of the other servers, but she gave the BIGGEST, most unprofessional attitude towards my family who was visiting from the mainland. It was very busy, so I think that's why she was so flustered and took it out on us? We hear that she's a good server, but is it because she doesn't need to write things down? What about customer service? We all order the same thing every time we eat at any Ihop like many others do, but she gave major attitude and looked at us funny when we tried to switch the hash browns with rice. We locals, we prefer rice--not hash brown! She acted as if we can't order it like that, and she looked at us as if we were ordering off a whole different menu. Lisa rolled her eyes when we was just trying to choose the sides we wanted. Lots of people substitute things all the time, and we have NEVER gotten attitude for that before until Lisa. I understand, it's hard to memorize "customized" food (we literally only asked for rice), so that's why it's great to WRITE IT DOWN. Even after her eye rolling, and poor attitude, we were still going to tip her because we figured it was a bad day, until my 9yr old niece accidentally spilled water everywhere, so natural instinct is to help the child first and clean up the spill on her/the table. She was handing out our food and mumbled "move your crap hello so I can put ya food down". I guess she thought she whispered it quiet enough that we couldn't hear but we did! She asked if we were drinking coffee we said no, yet she gave us 2 bowls of cream. There was 4 of us but she gave 6 glasses of water. Clearly she was the one putting too much on the table than what was asked for. I don't know, maybe she was having a bad day. But even though, we were just there to eat and catch up with family and it sucked that our breakfast was so unpleasant. I get it, it's busy, it's frustrating, there's so many people--both nice and rude--so it's definitely a hard job and I kmow the feeling because I worked as a server for years too.. But, please at LEAST don't be mumbling disrespectful things under your breath in front of your customers. I'm only rating this a 3 because at least the food was great. read more

Many parties after us were seated before us but we understood that we have a bigger party so we might have to wait for a larger table. We were then called in to be seated 50 minutes based off our check in time, only to be squeezed into a booth. If this was the case, they should have pulled us in earlier. Do not put out wait times if you cannot commit to it or even apologize for having us wait longer. If the hostess mentioned 45-1hr wait times, we would have gone somewhere else. read more

I've never done a review for ihop, so here I am. Having been to many ihop locations, this location at the Maui Mall has to be my fave. Not only is it 3 mins away from my house, but the service & food here is always good! I usually order a breakfast combo (eggs, hash browns, & bacon) with pancakes or their big steak omelette. But this time, I wanted something sweet/dessert-ish for dinner. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone with this "meal." I ordered their New York Cheesecake Pancakes, which is a stack of 3. Oh my, where do I begin?! Of course, their pancakes are super fluffy... but, when you add pieces of cheesecake throughout the pancake, top it with strawberry syrup, strawberries & whipped cream, it's heaven! I will be definitely be ordering this again if I have another sweet tooth for dinner! read more

Terrible Terrible customer service!! Myself and my family went in on a week day afternoon and it wasn't busy at all because the employees were sitting in the booths all on their cellphones so when Myself and my family walked in, we felt as if we were intruding or not welcomed just by the stares and not one person stood up to greet us at the door just ignored us for 15 minutes until I said something. And than a woman walked over while she was on her cell phone and asked how many of us and my name. And than told me the wait will be 10 minutes!! I replied 10 minutes for what???!! We've already been waiting for 15 minutes and there's practically no one in the restaurant!! She replied for her waitress to seat us in the appropriate section whatever that means?? I told her forget it! And that I'll be calling their corporate office to make a complaint because I am born and raised here on Maui and have eaten at IHOP all my life and this by far was thee worst customer experience I have ever experienced!!! Employees ignoring you when you are walking into a place that they are supposed to be friendly and welcoming but because their cellphone conversations are much more important than their customers??? But do you stop and remember that it's us customers who make sure you get paid?? No customers no paycheck!!! I will not be going back to IHOP!!! I'm very disappointed with ihop they never pick up there phones, and it seems like there always rushing to go home !

I think that their food is too expensive but the customer service has always been good there. I had one bad experience and that's why I'm rating it this low. One of the servers was trying to fill my water but neglected to pay attention to what she was currently doing which was filling my water and it spilt all over me. I don't know if her panic got the best of her but she walked away without wiping it up or saying sorry. I felt that was kind of messed up but whatever. read more

We came in the other day for Hoppy hour and had Angel as our server. she was amazing, sweet , and attentive. She made sure our waters were full along with the wonderful busser as well. they really took great care of us and we're so kind the whole time. However ; we came again last night for a dinner service and was met with Desi. Desi took our order in a timely fashion and did put up with some difficult orders from the party , but became very passive aggressive through dinner. When I asked to have my water filled they ended up just putting a pitcher on the table. Then as we were closing out we were never asked to have the check split ( even though I was going to take care of the whole thing ) and had the check dropped by a different waiter as she was having a conversation simultaneously l. As a server my self , the service was awful this night. Even though we are young , we are really good tippers , but I think she had a pre consumption about young adults. Side note: I opted to pay extra for 1 of 2 sides; a specialty stack of pancakes instead of a regular stack, and was later told it was not available, but I was okay to get a regular stack of pancakes instead. There were mistakes on what was charged on the check that I pointed out and tried explaining; I got charged half of the specialty stack of pancakes because I didn't get it, when I got a regular stack of pancakes that's considered a normal side with my meal. Said waitress contested the mistake and responded in way that seemed I was wrong and asked if I would like to get it corrected. I said it was okay and there were no need to make it an issue.
