So I posted a tip a year ago, commenting on how I've noticed the take out aspect has really gone downhill here. A year later, things have only gotten worse. I recently ordered the Have It All Breakfeast for take out when I was sick and was super disappointed with what I was served. The cook forgot my bacon, sausage, and ham (all the breakfast meat), plus my "jolly" cakes and funnel cake looked and tasted less than jolly as they forgot the entire topping- no strawberries, no whipped cream, no sprinkles, no cream cheese frosting, no powdered sugar or anything. Just plain and served with syrup and butter on the side like regular pancakes. Plus I didn't get my hollandaise sauce I ordered and ended up with country gravy instead. The waitresses helped me get my meat and hollandaise sauce that night, but I didn't notice the bland/plain cakes till I got home. Luckily, when I called, the lady manager had my order fixed the next day and they included extra pancakes and funnel cakes for my inconvenience. She claimed the cook was new and apologized, which could be the case, but considering the whole order was pretty much wrong, I don't feel that's valid enough of an excuse. Additionally, my "fixed" order was still missing hollandaise sauce and my cream cheese icing, despite the fact I gave them a handwritten checklist of what was missing the night prior to help. At least they tried their best... Overall, I don't recommend take out from here. I was almost born in this IHOP and have been coming ever since, so I've seen the staff and management change, with a few old timers still hanging around. I've seen how good they were and can be, to what they are now. Dine-in usually seems to always be good, but I've had nothing but problems the past few times I've ordered take out. Hope they can be more consistent with that in the future. It's hard as we have limited dining options on Maui as it is. We expect and deserve better. read more

Located at Maui mall. We've been here a few times before. But the day we went happened to be a holiday. So there was quite a wait. They told us 30 but it was more like 45 minutes. There is limited seating on the inside and most big parties wait outside. But once we did get seated everything else seemed to run smoothly. I was teasing myself by looking at the menu online before being seated. Those burgers were very appetizing! He ordered breakfast and I had to try one of those garlic butter burgers with fries. Let me just tell you Wow!! They really do need to change the name to IHOB. First bite of the burger was juicy well cooked and dripping with garlic butter. Litteraly dripping with butter down my fingers lol! It was so good and had no intentions of sharing. Definitely a game changer. read more

There's got to be something about this pandemic that is making people crave pancakes. I thought I was the only one but boy was I wrong! IHOP appears just as busy as before! During this pandemic, I have experienced both in-person and take-out services. Here is my take: DINE-IN: Can the virus even live through the extreme cold? I don't know but the restaurant is still kept chilly inside! Along the sidewalk fronting the door are sticker "spots" on the ground marking 6 feet distancing. They require 1 person per party to sign in at the host's desk and return outside to wait. I arrived during brunch for a party of 2 and waited approximately 10 minutes. There were LARGE parties ahead of me and the restaurant took their time to seat groups due to limited capacity/seating arrangements. A brief menu was provided at the table in addition to a QR code to view the full menu. Masks can only be taken off while at your table! We ordered the holiday pancake combos; cinnastack & Oreo cookie. Both were AMAZING! TAKE-OUT: This was a GAME CHANGER! I used their app to order ahead of time. The app is user friendly and displays the entire menu! When I went to pick up my items, the wait to dine in looked incredibly long. After providing my name to the host, my food was ready in no more than 5 minutes. Now here comes my favorite part, THE CONTAINERS! That's right! Check out the containers! I nearly had a heart attack when I arrived home and saw what looked like part of my order missing. But nope! The pancakes sat in a container nestled on top of my combo meal. This is our only IHOP on the island. It is centrally located at the Maui mall and they are open until midnight which is a good thing because most decent restaurants in Wailuku/Kahului close at 9pm even on Fridays and weekends. From our experiences, IHOP is good only for breakfast. I mean it is the "International House of Pancakes" lol. The last time we decided to eat at IHOP in the afternoon and my sweety ordered a steak done medium and it came out rare, I told him we will only order breakfast when we go there. Lesson learned. We also learned that if you order a salad or side salad, you should always order your dressing on the side because at restaurants like IHOP, they will drown your salad in dressing if you don't tell them to put your dressing on the side. Can I get some salad with my dressing? Just kidding. Like most people are aware, they have a variety of menu items. I've never had their crepes but I do enjoy their pumpkin pancakes which they offer during fall. I've been hooked on IHOP pumpkin pancakes since living on the mainland so it's kind of been an addiction and just one of those fall must-haves like pumpkin spice lattes that enjoy as well. The not so little one does enjoy their pancakes and we also like their omelets which are pretty good too. Customer service at this IHOP is a hit or a miss. We had a really nice Filipino lady the last time we ate there for breakfast but the time before that when we ate there in the afternoon, we had a horrible waitress. Our go to breakfast place in kahului when we are in town. We get right off the airplane, get our car, and head on to Ihop ! Its located 3-5 min from the airport! We usually arrive around 730 am ish and seating is not a problem at that hour. Food comes quickly and the quality is consistent as usual. Omelettes are big and filling espsc since it comes with pancakes. I usually get the 55 menu (*sigh, yeah, I'm that stage in life), and it is a pretty good deal. Breakfast platters under $10 and very filling! A good place for "regular" breakfast stuff, but got local things like Loco Moco ,spam, and shoyu with your eggs ! read more

I love ihop, but I was pretty saddened going here. We had just got to Hawaii so the insane prices were the sobering prelude of the trip. $18 for some chicken and waffles. My redneck self can't complain about the unsweet "sweet" tea I asked for because I was told they don't do that here, sad but its okay. The food was alllllright. Our waitress kinda just abandoned us at a point and we waited maybe 60 years for the check, then we hung out for a while because a brush fire closed the highway so we chilled until almost midnight when we could make it to family's house. Fast and friendly customer service. We entered and were seated immediately (Thanksgiving morning). The restaurant filled quickly with locals and tourists alike. Everything on the menu is available, so I had the turkey dinner with steamed broccoli and cornbread stuffing. The meal came with toast, cranberry sauce and a fresh salad. Too much food for me! We were a party of about 17 and of course we understood that waiting might be of a long wait which we did not mind because they said it be 25 minute wait. Finally got in and waitress seemed bothered we were a large group. She was not friendly, welcoming it was almost like she did not want to be there. About 2 groups came behind us and went we were still there waiting. Food came out slow, everyone but one child did not receive food and she did not once came to check if everyone received their food. We had to ask her when will we get the last order and from the look of her facial expression we knew she forgot. So it was a bit upsetting because she did not apologize or say she put order in now instead she kept saying its coming. We knew it was a lie because we waited another 15 minutes when we had to rush out to work. So we had to get it to go. They did not offer at least a discount for forgetting this child's food who sat watched everyone eat. It's the respect, humility and being more attentive to large group that can make mistakes understandable and forgiving. But when you try to lie or not apologize for your mistake is where things become unforgettable and leaves a negative impact. Someone just needs a little more training on how to better respond to their mistake and to be more attentive to serving customers and be more ALOHA!! read more

I need to start this review with the what i wrote in my previous review. So. the first review I wrote was about the 20 minute wait for a doggy bag. Second issue I told him about was the toilet seat in the mens room. The toilet was holding on by one bold swiveling at at 45 degree angle. I told him it was a liablity and someone with a disabilty or elderly could easily fall of and crack their head open against the tile wall. He said he would fix it but after 3 dayus he still didn't fix it. So as I promised here is the third issue it told him about that I did not disclose before. Issue Three First, I attempted to walk into the restaurant but the lady was cleaning the door window, not a problem , i get it but she did acknowledge me, after about 15 seconds she finished but didn't have the decency to hold the door or anything, just walked away. Okay ... things happen. Well we were quickly seated and the waitress was very nice and our food got there very quick.. They were not busy. So i am eating and an elderly woman approximaly 80 yrs old walks in with her 3 grandchildern. It's hot outside she's is obviously trying to catch her breath and is using a Walker and is hunched over obviously in distress...... she makes her way to the first table she sees which is approximately 10 feet from the door.The hostess says... Mame that is a reserved table, you need to wait outside. she says that about 4 times, like I said before this place was not busy at all. After the 4th time of saying ... "Mame you need to wait outside, I have your name, I will call you" I couldn't let this happen...... I stood up and said to the Hostess..." Excuse me, what is your problem, can't you see this womans advanced age and she is exhausted? " " this place is not busy .. can't she wait there for a minute until she catches her breath or find here another table right now?" I said look around you, there are over 20 table that are not being used..." I said Come on Do The Right Thing" she said sir please... and proceeded to tell the woman to wait outside. I figured if I got attention from other patrons It would help the hostess realize what an uncaring person she was. So I said again loudly " what are you doing... Came here for lunch around 3:30pm. Seated immediately as there were only about 5 other tables in the entire restaurant. Awesome because I was hungry! Our server Sheila immediately brought us waters and took our drink orders. Then took our food order when she came back. On top of refills and check-ups. Service was perfect!! FOOD: Buttermilk biscuit & gravy($12.49): such an awesome portion! One biscuit cut in half topped with 2 pork sausage on each total of 4 sausage in your meal. Country gravy on top with 2 eggs any style you prefer and a giant side of hash browns! Husband enjoyed it. Tilapia Florentine($15.29): I usually get the same omelette when I go and it was lunch time so this was my choice. Nice filet of fish. Could use a bit more seasoning. I didn't think they can do it Cajun style for me so I didn't even ask, but I should have. Laid on a bed of sautéed spinach with 2 sides. Which I chose rice and broccoli and added the stuffing because I wanted to try that as well. Skimpy on the broccoli and stuffing was very mushy but good flavor! I also always get the French vanilla iced coffee! Can't get enough of it! Totally came out to about $36 and left her $8. $44 for lunch not too bad! Save your money and enjoy a steak dinner instead of being extorted by IHOP management. They seem to be taking advantage by using the wild fires for having increased prices. Some items increased 3 times from 3 months ago. It is so frustrating to see businesses price gouge local citizens after a horrific tragedy. Being that competitor Denny's closed down their sole Maui location a few weeks ago, Maui's sole IHOP is still going strong and even busier now. While I never come here at breakfast hour, we sometimes pop in for late night breakfast after having a few at neighboring Ale House. I tried a new plate so an update was in order. FOOD: Breakfast Sampler - What a deal this was! It cost less than their oddly pricey omelettes and you receive more for your buck. You get 2 eggs, a good amount of hash browns, 2 slices of ham, 2 strips of bacon, 2 links of sausage, and 2 pancakes. Everything was good but the bacon could be a bit crispier, but I guess I need to request that next time. SERVICE: The staff have been great, especially the servers who are always smiley, friendly, and professional. OVERALL: Open late, good food & service, the latter of which could be why Denny's closed. read more

My mom and I had lunch here before visiting the nearby movie theater. The place was quite busy but we got seated pretty quickly. Our waitress came by after a bit and took our drink orders. Then she came back to take our food orders. I had the Grilled Chicken & Veggie Salad: Grilled chicken breast, fresh sliced tomato, red onions, avocado, mushrooms & a grilled lemon on mixed greens & crisp romaine tossed in honey balsamic vinaigrette. I have had this salad several times at other IHOP's and this one was just as good. Love all the toppings and the dressing is really flavorful. Mom had the Belgian Waffle Combo: This Belgian favorite is served with two eggs and two hickory-smoked bacon strips. She really likes their waffles and bacon so she enjoyed their meal. Definitely once of her favorites. The food came pretty quickly and the waitress provided refills often. Overall a good casual meal, especially if you want breakfast items. read more

Just ate dinner recently here n ordered from the special $8 menu--good deals from 3-8 pm ..sometimes u have to ask for it as was our experience this time. The drinks cost less too if u order it along w a meal from that menu. We could tell they had a good chef on duty which when we asked we were told the morning cook was working to fill a shortage..My BLT was done perfectly n was it was delicious. So were the pancakes..this was a few notes ago n it was pretty busy altho they don't fill all the tables-I think they had just one or two waitresses so service wasn't so great altho the food came quickly..had to flag them down for more soda n a box..which we ended up not getting so flagged someone down for the box n the bill...I guess they were doing their best w the few workers they had. Since it's the only IHOP on island, this location gets busy quick. There are no reservations, so you have to come in and wait. Be sure to get your name in with staff. When we were here they were taking cash only, they said it was due to a system issue. Dependent upon how busy they are wait times can be a while before you are seated. Our food came fairly quickly and was hot. Serving sizes are larger than other places but prices have gone up. Each item is average $15 plus or few a couple of dollars. I had a mushroom and spinach omelette with hash browns. The hash browns were crispy and my omelette was filled with a great deal of cheese. If you've got a larger party there middle section is the only area they could possibly combine tables. If not you're going to be in a booth which is a bit tight. Spacing between tables is small. read more

We went around 10:30/11am so it was still pretty busy, but we were seated very quickly. Our server, Lisa, took our drink orders. But when she took our food order, she kept interrupting us while we ordered & when she moved onto the next person to order she would stop them from ordering in a rude way & backtrack to the last person again. Our food came out fairly quick. BUT it was all wrong. We ordered a country fried steak with scrambled eggs and a side of lemon ricotta protein pancakes, Lisa brought it out but it was with over easy eggs. She caught the mistake and said "it's someone else's" after she set it on the table. She forgot about the pancakes and when it came out it was the strawberry banana pancakes. She also got my toast order wrong. I ordered wheat and she brought out sourdough. At this point I didn't even want to correct the order because I just wanted to leave. Our table was cleared after we ate and we waited for a while to get our bill. Seemed like she forgot about us. It wasn't until I was standing with my crying baby to calm him down was when she noticed and said "oh yeah, I'm coming". Wow! We went here at about 9:15am and the place was packed. Unreal. People were seated and waiting to get to a table, but I have to say we were seated less then 10 minutes. Almost every table was fliled with families. When people left they were cleaning the tables right after. So everything was moving smoothly, that was nice to see. Everyone working together. Good job to them. Team work. Also good management. We got seated to a nice booth. Menus and water was given right away. Our waitress asked if we wanted something to drink, coffee and soda came immediately. Then our order was taken. I shared a combo meal with my mom since I'm not a breakfast fan. It came with two pancakes, 2 eggs anyway you want 2 bacon strips, 2 pieces of ham, 2 pieces of pork sausage and hash browns. We didn't want the sausage and ham, so we asked if we could have all bacon. No problem!!!sure!!!!! Thank you! My niece had the silver dollar pancakes, it was so cute it came with bacon also, she didn't want the egg again not a problem. They're really good about substituting things that you want. I like that about the restaurant. It also came really fast. With the restaurant being busy. Our waitress I forgot her name she was really nice and friendly. Another plus. We had dinner here last night and it was the first time we entered this place since it closed due to COVID. The place has been renovated and looks really nice! There are booths with partitions and the tables are safely distanced from each other. There are tables that can seat up to 10 people. Their full menu is only available online so we used a scanner on our phone to access the menu through the QR code on the table. I ordered the crispy chicken dinner. I've ordered it before and like it because it's boneless white chicken. However, this time the mashed potatoes were so runny they looked like cream of wheat. The waitress was so nice and brought me rice when I told her I didn't care for the mashed potatoes. But the rice was mushy too! So I ended up just eating the chicken with the country gravy and corn. It's probably better for me that I didn't eat the carbs but I was still disappointed. The kids like this place, especially for the hot cocoa, so we'll probably be back. But I may have to find a new item on the menu to order though. read more

The food is always great. The only thing this restaurant lacks is customer service. Simple communication with the customer would be appreciated. I understand that restaurants do close early due to the lack of business. It would be great if the employees were nice about it. As soon as I get inside, I feel like I'm not welcomed. I never know when they are going to close early, so sometimes I take a chance and walk inside. I would call but they never answer their phone. I get inside and all I hear is "no! No! No! We're closed". A simple "Hi welcome to IHOP. Sorry but unfortunately due to the slow business we've had tonight, we are closed and no longer taking any more customers." You can always find something you like on their menu. IHOP is your typical pancake house. Since Denny's closed down this is the only one on the island. Avoid this place on weekends!!!! It gets jammed packed especially for the breakfast hours. I am not a fan of their coffee, but they do fill your cup up and leave you with a full pot to refill as much as you need. I am a fan of their fried rice!! It's NOT on the menu but it's delicious. They give a huge portion when asked for 1 scoop. I get it with a side of over easy eggs. For $6 you can't go wrong! The service today was horrible. Our waitress was forgetful and overwhelmed. She only had 4 tables. But either way we always end up coming back. Food is consistent. read more
