    Coffee!
    Mark N.

This continues to be our favorite local bfast spot. The servers are mostly long time employees so they know what they're doing and are efficient. Our Vegas, bacon and hash browns were cooked perfectly. Their pancakes are always the best! We use their app and generous loyalty program and this visit got a free shirt stack of pancakes. Excellent service and yummmy bfast!!

From their own website: open until 3AM. Turned away before 2 AM by unruly employees blocking doirway.

Oh no! Customer service and honesty are completely lacking. Restaurants says open till 3 AM. Arrived at 1:55 and was told we stopped seating at 2 AM by loud unruly employees blocking doorway. It wasn't even 2 AM yet. The employees didn't wanna work. Clearly. The kitchen didn't wanna work according to the people at the door. I didn't know kitchen's work! Clearly either the corporate policy is to deceive people into driving here in the middle of the night only to disappoint them or the employees simply lie so they can go home early. Either way this is the only IHOP this has ever occurred to me at and I've eaten at hundreds around the country. This must clearly be the worst. If this is any indication of how dedicated to their work, the employees are I would advise everybody to stay away.

Service - quick, fast, and friendly! Everyone was very welcoming from the moment you step in, to when you leave. Ambiance - open space, but wasn't too rowdy. Food - so many options to choose from, i haven't been in a long time. But i was so happy to see the range, i couldn't decide on what to get. Their southwest chicken bowl was delicious Drinks - I ordered a coffee, usually i ask for honey but they ran out. It was okay I went for their sugar/cream instead. Location - in a busy area, but parking wasn't hard to find. & once we arrived we only waited 5 min or less!!

Their version of toast, both sides I toasted

Stopped in for a late lunch and were seated immediately. Decided to order breakfast instead of lunch. Ordered two eggs over medium, hash browns, rye toast, and eggs Benedict. Waited for what seemed like a long time when our server came out to say they were out of English muffins and what would I like as a substitute. Chose sourdough toast. Food finally arrived with the eggs Benedict looking not quite right. Even through the hollandaise sauce I could te the eggs were overcooked. And cutting into them proved I was correct, pretty much like hard boiled eggs. Server did offer to do something else for me but usually doing that means they are rushing the food and it could be worse than the original. The sourdough toast was toasted on one side, both sides would have been good. The bacon for the eggs over medium was asked to be cooked extra crispy but it was just barely cooked. Fortunately the bacon with the Benedict was crispy so a swap was done. Home fries with the Benedict were asked to be extra crispy but that didn't happen either. Our server was very pleasant and tried to help as much as she could and to her credit took off the Benedict off the tab. Was also told the manager would stop by but that didn't happen. Very disappointing meal and not sure if there will be a return trip which is unfortunate as they usually do a good job with breakfast.

Free stack of pancakes on National Pancake Day
    Jacob B.

It was National Pancake Day when I went here. Great food with pleasant employees who were courteous. Service isn't all complaining! They do serve new fish & chips which makes Friendly's a competitor as they also serve that entree as well. That's what I had alongside the free stack of pancakes I had on National Pancake Day. It's one of my favorite actual chain restaurants of all. I've been to this location multiple times since Applebee's was originally in that building before IHOP took over.

    Protein Pancakes

About what you expect. Basic service, decent food, old atmosphere, high price. I'm kind of running out of local breakfast places to try. I've had my fair share of chains, so when I go into these types of places I don't have high expectations. I go into this specific location and the single server was busy running orders. After about 5 minutes she runs over and seats me. I'm guessing this specific location might have a bit of a staffing issue. The decor, very much out of the early 90s. Gives me a bit of that TGIFridays or Sizzler's vibe. Low-backed seats, neutral color tones, very low divider walls, those big tube cushions that line the seating bench. It's old, but within my generation so I didn't mind it much. Didn't see anything interesting on the specials menu, so I opted to do their low calorie breakfast option. Figured I would see how their protein pancakes match up to the real deal. Also get some protein in and not ruin the days calorie bank. The eggs and sausage come out first. Both swimming in a good amount of oil, which kind of negates the healthy aspect of the dish. Nothing is seasoned, so it was up to me to salt, pepper, and ketchup the heck out of everything to get it to a decent standard. Eggs were generic egg whites, the plant-based sausage patties had a decent flavor to them. Unseasoned, but a hard sear and a decent texture. Pancakes came out after. Server was kind enough to inform me that they screwed up the pancake order and sent out the regular stack rather than the protein stack. I appreciate the honesty, and she was really busting her hump making sure the 15 people in the store were served all on her lonesome. So no faults on the server. When the protein pancakes come out, they have two decent sized mounds of whipped salted butter right on top. Pretty sure those are not part of the menu calorie counts, but those are easy enough to remove. Do a little drizzle of full sugar pancake syrup, and give them a try. Not bad pancakes, all things considered. Fluffy enough, tender, they don't feel like a diet food. Granted, they don't really have decadence either. But overall they are a solid pancake. Bill came out to 18 bucks including the coffee. So it's high for what you get. If you want some generic food or manage to use their app to score some freebies, then this place is a spot to get some breakfast. It's not great breakfast, but it's edible and will serve its purpose.

    Busy on a late-morning Saturday
    Scott D.

Sitting in the old Applebee's building in the small plaza at the east end of the Buckland mall this place might be easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. I've been here quite a few times since it's been open and as some reviews have stated the service can be hit-or-miss at times. That being said, I last stopped here for a semi-late breakfast on a Saturday and it was busy as you might expect. The manager was working in a number of areas and she kept everything running smoothly. From clearing and seating tables to taking care of the steady stream of dine-in and carry-out customers she was going above and beyond for the customers AND her employees. The wait was not bad and the service was quick and friendly despite the rush. Food arrived as ordered and without too much wait. Because this is a chain I start with a default four stars and even though I've had a few less than ideal experiences here they are putting in the work needed to make it better. For that they deserve the "A" for effort and a 4.25 star rating.

Would you allow this IHOP manager in Manchester, Connecticut to serve you food?

Server showed up quickly and took our drink orders. Menu is extensive and should provide plenty of options for everyone. (Pictures of menu included here) We ordered the 5 ounce burger with cheese and fries and the Texas hold em burger with bacon minus tomato and lettuce and fries and the French onion soup. There was a short wait till the soup came out. Nicely covered with melted cheese on top. The soup was good but didn't have the depth of beef flavor and spice texture that I was looking for. There plenty of onions, croutons, and cheese and overall it was okay. The burgers were well cooked and flavorful. They offered two sizes of their standard burgers, 5 or 8 ounces. The smaller size was just right for the person I was with. The cheese seemed to melt into the burger so it wasn't really visible. The hold em burger was large and had onion straws and three slices of very crispy bacon on top. There was a dollop of the bbq/house dressing and plenty of onions straws. The straws were nicely fried but not crispy by the time they reached the table but added a good dimension to the burger. It was good to leave the tomato and lettuce off as the height of the burger made it tough to bite into. The fries were disappointing. They had the right color for being fried and crispy but they were limp and soft. They are clearly are fresh cut from large potatoes but really need to be fried longer to get that crispy crunch you'd expect. Told the server that and was told to ask for the fries extra crispy. Overall not a bad first trip. We'll go back and try some other things on the menu and see what extra crispy fries are like.

Notice the ceiling kegs at the entrance. The music is a variety of music from the 70's to the 80's. For my first drink, I'm high the Lucky Ducky. This is made with Altos Plata Tequila, Malibu Coconut Rum, Absolute Mandarin Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Bols Blue Curaçao, Monin Sweet and Sour, pineapple juice and Starry. I love the prevention! It is served in a bathtub with a floating ducky! This is good. I can't really taste the alcohol but I like the overall taste. The presentation makes the drink. For our appetizer, we are having the Chicken Pot Stickers which are pan-seared filled dumplings, garlic, ginger, yellow chives, soy ginger sauce and slaw topped with rice sticks, sesame seeds and green onions. These are nice! Extra soy sauce and a rice stick topping. For my next drink, I'm having the Grand Patron Margarita made with Patron Silver, fresh orange and lime slices and topped with a mini bottle of Grand Marnier. Grand Marnier is a premium French orange liqueur made from a blend of Cognac brandy, distilled essence of bitter orange, and sugar, created in 1880 by Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle. It has a rich, complex flavor profile with notes of orange, vanilla, and hazelnut, and is typically 40% ABV (80 proof). It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, in cocktails like the Sidecar, or used in desserts like Crêpes Suzette. They use a thinner salt for the rim. Still hard to taste the alcohol (because of the size of the glass), but as I drink it, the Grand Marnier kicks in! These more like it! For my next item, I'm having the Soup (clam chowder) and Salad Combo (House). The soup is hot and comes with crackers. It's good! The salad is good sized with croutons, it is very good! For my entree, I'm having the Enlightened Cherry Chipotle Glazed Salmon which is oven roasted Atlantic salmon in a savory Cherry Chipotle glaze with roasted asparagus and spinach. This is dipped hot! It tastes great! Very unique! Nice presentation! I love it! For my last drink, I'm having the Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned made with Woodford Reserve bourbon, simple syrup and Angostura bitters. Look at this! They use a large ice cube to slow the dilution process! It's nicely garnished and well-balanced. This tastes great! Good job! For dessert, I'm having one of their World Famous Pizookies - Strawberry Shortcake. This is a buttery sugar cookie, fresh strawberries, rich vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream. We both ordered the veggie omelet which came with country potatoes and toast- we both had rye. All of it was hot and delicious! I had really wanted to try the poutine but I am a vegetarian and sadly, they don't offer it with a mushroom gravy, which I found at two poutine places in Quebec City. I guess there are not enough vegetarians asking for it around here. I gotta say it was super loud in here as the place was packed with a large group. I enjoy a lively atmosphere but it was just too much. I found myself wanting to rush to get out of there as the noise was overwhelming while eating breakfast. I prefer to ease into my day. I can't fault the restaurant for that. It's obvious people love this place and I do too!

Upon entering, we found the wait staff chatting with each other at the seats or serving the handful of customers in the dining room. Decor was heavily coffee influenced-- from the wallpaper to the wall art, it's obvious a cup of joe plays a role here. We ordered a smattering of breakfast dishes and of course, two of the poutine dishes. Overall the food was just ok, not memorable. The pancakes had a nice texture but were largely flavorless; maple syrup helped somewhat but that ended up being the only flavor. Eggs were serviceable, potatoes were fine. The poutine was okay. I've had much better in Canada. Theirs felt like a beef based gravy out on top of French fries, with pockets of cheese curds, which were the better part of the meal. The Quebecois poutine was better, with added ham & veggies to add some complexity. The downside of our visit came as we approached their closing hour of 2pm. The crew started cleaning up and vacuuming around us as we were still eating before close. I had a single cup of coffee, and when I asked for a refill, the waitress apologized and said they poured it out because it was getting close to closing time. Ironic, considering the amount of pro-coffee memorabilia around the restaurant. We hadn't even hit closing but pouring out the coffee while a table was still eating didn't cross anyone's mind. (Nor cleaning around us, passively encouraging us to leave.) The coffee wasn't removed from the bill in recognition that maybe they made a mistake. Overall.. eh. I was hoping for more, but it is what it is. I'm sure it's fine for the regulars, but this wasn't worth the long trip for what I was hoping was a callback to Quebec faire, in Connecticut.
