Upgrade alert: if my meal from Ike's tonight is an indicator, Ike's has kicked it into another gear. My vegetarian moussaka was delicately prepared in a way I have not experienced before (love the crumb topping). Along with it, I got vegetables - not rice, not fries, vegetables. It was offered, not only available by special request. The veggies - cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, zucchini and yellow squash - were cooked just right (not too much, not too little). Most surprising was my salad. They put the dressing on the side (a first) and included lots of diverse lettuces (also a first). I've had a long history with Ike's and this is the best I've had from them. I'm penciling them in for more visits. read more

Since my initial review I have been to Ikes numerous times and it's always amazing! I never drift from the Mediterranean fare as that is my ultimate favorite cuisine ever. It's so simple, yet so flavorful and sustaining. It's very easy to eat lite and healthy. Another great place with great food and a well trained staff serving Lebanese food. Went there on Saturday night, no reservations, the wait was less than ten minutes. From the moment we sat down to the time we left we were treated well and did not have to ask twice for anything. Ike, the owner, was not around, but his staff was plain Awesome! Ike's a good restaurant, kind of a good healthy mix of different cuisines all together.. The staff is always professional and food comes out well plated, hot and fresh.. My best dish there is the breaded Beef and Chicken, with their Greek and signature salads.. The place also have a full bar which you won't find in many of the Lebanese restaurants in the city.. This place became a favorite of mine after I got the Falafel sandwich at their booth at the Sterling Fest about 5 years ago. Since then things have changed a bit, they moved from a receded spot at strip mall to their own building and also elevated themselves from diner to something a little more upscale. Not too upscale though! They upgraded the look, menu and ambiance without making it too over the top. The prices went up though. Pros: I'm not a vegetarian but if I were I would definitely get filled up here if I were. Their Lebanese cuisine is very good but they also do American, Italian and Greek. My girlfriend loves the Lentil soup, I love the Vegetarian appetizer platter (and I'm not Vegetarian) there is enough food to feed 2.5 people on this alone. Some fantastic surprises sometimes in the wine selection. Sometimes they have a DJ, I like the rat pack/ Sinatra, Dean Martin stuff and other genres they have played there. I like some of the new look. I had a Shrimp Gallaba that was very good. Cons: Falafel varies, these past couple of years the Falafel is not as good, it has more of some flavor component like clove or something that I'm not too hot for. Had a fantastic wine one time and a few months later ordered the same wine and it had been sitting out or something because it was not the same fresh and complex expression it had the first time even after getting a complimentary new glass. Some dishes excel while others they don't pull off well or are inconsistent. They might want to try not to have so many things available on the menu so they can focus better. I have been to Ike's many times and always a great experience. We decided to go with Ike's for our wedding reception and I'm so glad we did. The staff was so attentive and professional. We booked a baby shower here and had stayed the same night to try out the food for the first time. Service was incredible and our server was sweet as can be as well as quick! Unfortunately, we had to cancel our event due to COVID-19 scare and not feeling comfortable putting our guests at risk. I am heartbroken, but Ike's team was accommodating and issued me a refund of the deposit. Once this is all over, I will definitely be booking future events here. read more

We hosted my baby's baptism here. I have been trying to have a party here for a long time, but they're always booked...and for good reason! Melinda and Stephanie were so wonderful to work with; organized, available, and accommodating. We had the plated dinners for everyone in our party. They came with fattoush salad, cheese plates, and turshi (pickled vegetables) to start. There was plenty of food and a lot of variety. It tasted delicious and was served hot. The service was also excellent. Every table was taken care of promptly and their dietary needs accommodated (vegan/vegetarian). The wait staff also cut and served our cake with vanilla ice cream. Overall, we had a great time! We loved our party and had a experience working with the coordinators. We look forward to visit again soon to try different food items available here. They offer American, Greek, Italian, and Mediterranean food on their extensive menu. We highly recommend dining here! read more

Went here for a baby shower that took place in their little banquet area in the back. I wasn't impressed. The place has a great Decor very modern and clean but the service was so poor I felt bad for the girl who is having her shower here. We were all there at least 20 to 30 minutes before they even asked us for our drink orders which consisted of iced tea lemonade or soda. Then they brought out a bread basket and hummus. The hummus was really good put the Bread Basket consisted of bags of quartered pita bread so many pieces in one bag too many pieces for one person so we all had to finger through the bags of pita bread in order to get ourselves a serving. They're going to that serve pita bread that way they should either serve all the pieces of pita bread in a basket with tongs or individual servings of pita bread like one or two pieces per bag. The time it took from the bread to the salad plate was another 20 minutes and God forbid if one of the waitresses would ask you if you needed anything we had to go find the waitresses ourselves to ask for either more water or bread or refills on our drinks. So the shower started at noon we weren't served or entree until about 1:45 and the options were chicken marsala or chicken alfredo fettuccine or spinach pie. I was the only one at my table that got the spinach pie which was delicious I may add, but those who ordered the chicken alfredo fettuccine and chicken marsala weren't that impressed and said the chicken was dry and the Alfredo was very under seasoned. At 2:45 we had to ask them to put the air conditioning on because it was so dang hot and stuff in there I really don't like it when you have to ask somebody to make you feel comfortable. I finally left at 3:30 after they made us cut and serve the cake, that's correct they didn't offer to do it, and we didn't even start opening presents yet because the service was so poor it took almost 3 hours to get everybody fed and dessert in hand. So the only good thing is I have to say about this place I guess was the decor in the spinach pie. If you're looking to have a function there I would think twice about it. read more

Ike's is a great place to stop in for a quality meal and drink! Wide menu selection and their wine Wednesday is great! We enjoyed a an appetizer trio with fresh baked bread! I enjoyed beef tips over noodles and my husband ordered sweet peas with lamb. Great flavor on the beef tips but we had to ask for more meat with the lamb dish, which they quickly brought out extra meat! Our waitress was very accommodating and the restaurant is clean with cozy atmosphere. We will be back.... read more

We were kaut driving around looking for something new..i wanted to like this place and i loved it!! Nice clean and even clean smelling!!! Decor is modern with neutral tones. Love the tables and booths. Clean restrooms. We had chicken tender appetizers good flavor and very hot. Basket of fresh hot pita!! I love fresh baked bread!!! I had a cup of clam chowder (a tad salty for my taste) and fattoush salad - both very good! My husband had an iced tea and fattoush! The salads are a too large and I could not even eat half of my entree lemon salmon with mixed veggies- carrots zucchini broccoli . My husband who is a chef and food critic IMHO, enjoyed his broiled whitefish and veggies as well. So few restaurants give fresh bread, soup and salad nowadays for a reasonable price. The food is great, however not a place I would recommend for renting a banquet room. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived to decorate. There was a previous party still packing up their stuff. When I address this with staff they weren't reassuring about getting us in the room to start decorating nor had a resolution. When we asked to speak to Stephanie, she was able to help speed up the process but dealing with the regular staff isn't helpful. Everyone setup the room fast and Stephanie is great at visualizing where tables needed to go etc. When dealing with Stephanie it's great, however with the rest of the staff it's mediocre. Extremely slow service! We were there in a larger group (10 of us) which I understand could take longer but this was beyond excessive. We have had much better Mediterranean food at much better prices and portions than you get here. They overcooked a saganaki and gave us another which was nice. Long been a fan of their kabobs, fattoush, hummus and more but yesterday did a carry out of their daily special of beef tips on noodles and it was amazing! Hope they add it to their regular menu. We had a good meal at Ike's for a family Christmas party. We had a group of about 20 people and the service was fantastic. There were two waitresses working our banquet room and they were friendly and fast. Our drinks were never empty and they took orders and brought our food in a timely manner. We never once felt rushed to leave and each person I talked to in our group really enjoyed the food. The giant basket of bread is delish. They have soft hot pita, and flat pita in the basket. Now for the food... Apps: I Tried the hummus and the falafel and really enjoyed both. The hummus has great flavor and the falafel was spot on. The falafel was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with just the right amount of kick. My favorite thing I tried at Ike's was the falafel. For my entree I had the kafta kabob with rice as my side. It came with a Lebanese side-salad which I also really enjoyed. The rice with sauce was delicious. The kafta was "OK." I've had better kafta, but as an overall meal I was pleased. I was back and forth about either a 3 or 4 star rating for this place, but the level of service we experienced made this a 4 star visit. Expect to pay $8-$15 per person roughly depending on what you order. read more

Not only is their food delicious, but I recently held a baby shower there and the service could not have been better. Stephanie was so easy to work with and even made some last minute changes for me. We had a terrible experience here during a lunch meeting last week. First, my bacon cheeseburger was over cooked and somebody else was complaining at my table that the turkey sandwich was tasting very off. Food aside we had a terrible time connecting to their WiFi. After tracking down the WiFi passcode (the restaurant phone number of all things) the connection was extremely slow. Very hard to conduct a work meeting when you can't use the supplied WiFi connection. We were told that Stephanie was busy but could be at the table within 10 minutes. We decided to forgo a visit and finished up so we could pick up the meeting at Paneras where we found a working WiFi. While I didn't have it at this visit the Rumchata Mudslide is very good but I definitely will not be conducting a business meeting here again in the future. read more

Service and hostess here are always spot on. Super nice, polite, and attentive. Great job. I agree with some, the quality of the food has gone down in the last couple years. My chicken kabobs were super dry, and my lamb kabobs were over cooked (and dry). The grape leaves were delicious, as was the garlic sauce, house made bread, salad, and sides. I wish they would switch to larger pieces of meat, so they wouldn't dry out so fast, even if it meant having one less piece on the skewer. Dry meat sucks. read more

This restaurant has the most spectacular Lebanese cuisine around. I've been going to Ike's since the early 90's when they were in the smaller location. I would have given them 5 stars, but I recently had a few bad experiences. On the same night I called Ho Wah (see my review), I called to place a carry out around 9:45-9:48 at Ike's. When I called Ike's the woman who answered put me on hold. After nearly 4 mins I hung up and called back. When I tried to place a carry out she said, "Let me check with the cooks." Check what? Isn't anyone open until the time they say they are? Or better yet, how about staying open a few minutes past that time to be safe and cater to your clientele. As I said in my Ho Wah review, if you say you are open until 10, that means you should be PREPARED FOR BUSINESS until at least 10, if not 10-15 minutes after that. It seems that many restaurants (and retail stores as well) are following this model. You may have been able to do this 10 years ago or more, but with modern technology being what it is, helping people to find your store and telling them how late you are open, you should be sure to accommodate the hours that YOU advertise. That night, nearby Mon Jin Lau, who has superior Asian cuisine, received my near $80 order. Again, because I love Ike's food and have been a long-time customer, I tried again, PURPOSEFULLY ORDERING 10 minutes to close to see how it was handled. I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did the girl on the phone take my order, she was extremely pleasant, and when I asked if it was ok that I was calling so close to closing time, she said, "That's what we are here for." I'm upset with myself for not documenting her name, because Ike's should have the opportunity to thank such a helpful employee. My kibbeh Nayeh, as it always is, was superb. Flavorful and moist, Ike's knows how to handle this dish, while many other Middle Eastern places serve you dried out or low quality meat. Not so here. Also, I always order many dishes, and that night I got Shish Tawook, which was so well cooked I nearly died. So many times at other joints you'll receive a dry kabob of chicken, but at Ike's it's incredibly seasoned and cooked just right. So too were my Lamb Kabobs and Shish Kafta. Again, so many places dry the shit out of the meat, I almost hate ordering it. These two dishes were a perfect medium rare, with juices exploding in my mouth with every bite. Well done! The Tabouleh and Fatoosh Salad were both amazing! Perfectly dressed, which is not always the case. Many places put way too much dressing, and you end up getting a cold salad soup. Ike's is careful to focus on quality, and they delivered. Also, the bread (both hot and the Syrian bread) are very fresh. Perfect for dipping into the Baba Ghanouj and Humus, both of which are so perfectly executed at this establishment. Lastly, the Stuffed Intestines and Hushwee are so authentic and delicious, you'd be a fool not to try it. I doubt I'd ever stop eating at Ike's, but they do need to better monitor their staff to be sure that everyone makes guests feel welcome - whether it is at the beginning or at the end of the day. Every guest matter, and we should be made to feel as such. Ultimately, Ike's is a mainstay of the Metro-Detroit scene, and there are very few spots within the area that keep to it's high standards of quality food. read more

Won't be buying dinners from Ike's again.. Had their chicken picata a few weeks ago and it was fabulous and large portioned. We ordered 2 dinners and had enough food for 2 days. Had an order this past week, their eggplant involtini, and thought based on our other order, one dinner would be more than enough for the two of us. Not only was it not enough for dinner for 2, but it was more like a lunch size for one. It was cold and over cooked and obviously reheated (not freshly made). Not worth the price. Well here I go again - 3rd time going to a funeral home. So, I pick up my sister early and we decide to go to Ike's for lunch/dinner - it was around 3ish so it sufficed for both! Parking is convenient - right outside the door, open the door and it is very nice - has a hostess stand. Walked in and there was no one there so we proceed to go into the restaurant. A man walks over and grabs a couple of menus and he led us to a fine booth. Water was brought over and our waitress came over and took our drink orders - we decided on tea. One thing that I did not care for was the menu - it was a tablet. The screen had fingerprints all over it - germs, eeech! When I look at a menu I like to see pictures! Afterall, I am a product of the 60's! There was a paper menu for lunch specials on the table so I pick that up (no pictures :-( boo hoo) and I order lamb and peas. Wherever I ordered this plate it has always, I repeat always, been delicious! I look around and the decor is upper scale and very nice. It appears quite clean and even the restrooms were clean, which is, in my opinion, a reflection of the kitchen! It the potty room is clean then definitely the kitchen has to be clean! They have one room that probably holds 30 - 40 people which would be nice for a small get together! Our fatoosh salads come out which is included with the meal. OMG it is humongous! I only ate maybe half of it and decided I wanted to taste the lamb and rice as well, so I quit with the salad. Brought out some freshly baked pita bread, hmmmmm, nice and hot. My sister also ordered a small hommous, which would have been enough for 5 people! We are not yet finished with eating our salads when the main course arrives. I wish I would've told her that we were not in a hurry and to hold off with putting the lamb and peas in until after we finish with the salads - this is a main TIP to anyone going to Ike's because the kitchen is very efficient and gets their meals out fast. I look at the plate and am a little disappointed. There were maybe 5 chunks (not large pieces) of lamb on the plate. Peas were throughout the rice, sauce, and lamb - not on the side. I sort of like to mix them in and maybe just have a spoonful of peas. Oh well, no big deal. One thing that was a little disturbing was the tomato sauce on the rice - very runny. It was not thickened at all; and, therefore did not have much taste to it. Another no big deal though. Then I think this is a lunch special and because of this I excuse the small portion of lamb on the plate; afterall, it is only $10. I leave quite happy with a large bag in hand of leftovers! My sister had ordered the same thing and if I were in my right mind I would have suggested to share the plate, but forgot! So, between the two of us we have more than 1 order because portion size of rice and peas were very generous. I might also add that she got more lamb than me! But that is okay, she is my sister! read more

Get over yourself. I didn't even take home my leftovers. And I told my disinterested waitress that the food was not very good, and she rolled her eyes and wandered off. They have everything Lebanese, hummus, baba ghanouge, falafel, grape leaves and mjadra....not my taste...Good news. They have American type food. I had their Hot Turkey Sandwich with French fries and smothered in gravy. This was an excellent good, hot, real chunks of chicken sandwich. Good chicken(yellow) gravy. Decent hot fries. Came to Ike's for a proposal dinner. We were seated in the banquet area. The staff was friendly, parking was convenient. Upon walking in, my guest and I were not greeted by a hostess, so we just walked throughout the restaurant to find where the party was located. Our menu was on paper (I guess they provide iPads inside the restaurant rather than the banquet). I ordered a fattoush which was good, yet the pita chips were very soggy and soft. For dinner I had a chicken marsala plate. I was given 3 peices of chicken with pasta noodles and sauce. The sauce had no flavor whatsoever. The chicken had a rubber feel to it. After looking at the others at the dinner table, their plates were barely touched either. All in all, not somewhere I would return. read more

I had the pleasure to eat here about three, maybe four months ago during a business trip in Center Line. Wow! Talk about delicious food, huge portions, and great service! I was incredibly impressed by everything. The tabouleh was amazing - if you get anything that comes with a salad, be sure to get the tabouleh instead of the house salad. It's perfectly proportioned, delicious, and you will not be able to finish your portion. I also ordered a lamb special unlike anything else I've ever had. Very tasty - it was in a thick sauce, with peas and served over rice. If you like middle-Eastern and/or Greek food, this is the best place to start in the Detroit area.
