Located in the same plaza as Mustard Seed, Il Baretto is a cozy little Italian cafe. The decor is sleek and modern. At our visit last night there were large parties taking up two tables, leaving only two other tables of four. We were lucky to get in without a reservation but I do suggest calling ahead. There are a few tables outside as well if you want to dine in the strip mall. What you will immediately notice about Il Baretto is that this about as far from a chain as you can get. The owners greet you and try to make you feel st home. They will ask you if you have been there before and come by often to make sure everything is to your liking. We have dined at Il Baretto a couple of times. The bread, a warm sliced focaccia is delicious and addicting. The menu is smaller than the average Italian restaurant as everything is made fresh to order. There are always nightly specials. Items we have tried include: Caesar Salad Pumpkin Soup Tilapia Livornese Branzino Livornese Rigatoni Eggplant Lasagne Pizza Margherita Farfalle Gamberi (with Shrimp) The food never disappoints at Il Baretto. I loved the Pumpkin Soup! Whenever I ordered fish it seemed super fresh. I enjoyed the Branzino more than the Tilapia. I did not remember that I had ordered the Livornese sauce on my previous visit. On our second visit, I found the sauce to be a little heavy and distracting. Next time I would order the Branzino grilled, as it is on the regular menu. The pizza was very good. The crust was nice and thin and it had a nice amount of cheese. All of the pasta dishes were solid. Although i have never ordered dessert, my sweet tooth is always satisfied by the little chocolates brought with the check. Depending on when you are there, the restaurant can get noisy so I am not sure if it is the best place for a romantic date. It is a great place for get together with friends and family meals. Nothing is perfect, but Il Baretto comes pretty close! My coworkers and I don't usually go out for Italian food, but we decided to try Il Baretto because we pass it all the time. You'd never know that this restaurant is wedged in the shopping center where kickboxing and Mustard Seed Bistro are! The decor of Il Baretto is so nice! Really well thought out and the place smells overwhelmingly of lavender and herbs. It feels really authentic and fancy. Along with the wine bottles everywhere and little greenery, it's the perfect set up! Their lunch menu is unbeatable for Italian food! I love branzino fish and it's on the menu (my coworker gotnit so I know the portion size is more than enough) for only about $12. They've got a great selection of salads, paninis, and entrees (including pasta) on their lunch menu. I can only imagine what their dinner menu looks like. The complimentary oil and garlic bread is so tasty. They cut the flatbread into strips and I could truly eat the whole basket. I ordered penne alla bascioela (probably messed up the spelling). It's a red sauce penne pasta with olives, mushrooms, and topped with Parmesan cheese. Absolutely delicious and it was the perfect portion. My whole bill including tip was about $12 - perfect! The service was very attentive here. Our waitress really didn't miss a beat. It's a small restaurant so it's easy for staff to overlook the establishment and it works in their favor. Holy cow, this place is awesome. Thank you to Yelp for helping me find this place! We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer and WoW. There were two types on the plate. On was the classic tomato and mozzarella and the other was mushroom. Both we outstanding and the flavor contrast was a very pleasant surprise. I ordered the Tortelloni Ricotta E Spinaci. So disappointed!! My husband wanted his birthday dinner at Il Baretto. We have had many meals here. Always good service and food. BUT last night was a nightmare. Reservations for 7:30 for 7 people. We arrive at 7:25 and they say oh your reservation was at 6:30 we broke your table down. And act like it may be a problem to be seated. Meanwhile there are 5 empty tables. It took over 20 minutes for them to push 2 tables together for us. I had to walk back in to see if our table was ready. The owner was like "oh yes here" we are seated and not everyone has utensils. Ok no big deal, then we had brought a bottle of wine the waitress opens it a pours a taster in one glass and places the bottle on the table and walks away. Doesn't pour for everyone. We place our appetizer order 1 dinner salad and a sausage pizza. The waitress brings a basket of bread with a side of spread for the table. Literally a tablespoon of the spread for the table. I had to ask for butter she brings 3 packages. She then comes back for us to place our dinner orders. Perfect. Now we sit and wait. We asked about the pizza many times her response was it's coming. And the salad. It's coming. Finally the owner comes and asked did you order a pizza? We are like yes as an appetizer her response is the kitchen doesn't have that as an order. Really! But I will get it out in 5 minutes. Now the dinners start coming. Everyone has their meal except for my mom. We ask many times for it. It's coming is all we keep getting. Meanwhile my meal is cold when it arrived. My son was not crazy about his snapper ravioli, my sons girlfriend said here food was ok and my husband said the same. My aunt loved hers. Finally after we are done eating my moms food arrives. At this point she doesn't even want it. THEN the pizza and salad arrived. We send the salad back my aunt was done eating by this point. Needless to say we were not happy. The owner comes back to the table and wanted to know how everything was. I couldn't believe she was asking this. She has seen what has been going on since we arrived. Her response was I'm sorry about all the confusion. She thinks by bringing out a small serving of tiramisu and writing happy birthday all we be forgotten. She says to us I don't usually do this. She returns with the check and says she has removed the corkage fee. And apologies. Meanwhile the salad is still on the check my son brings this to her attention. She's like oh you didn't have the salad ok I'll remove it. My son then says you are charging for a meal that came out after everyone was done eating? She says yes. Takes the check back and removes the salad cost. I have never had such a horrible experience. I felt horrible it was supposed to be a night of celebration but ended up being a nightmare. So sad. Three years ago we had a wonderful birthday dinner with my family here. Needless to say we will not be returning. read more

This place has so much potential, if only they'd just find a server with a consistent decent personality. The same older gentleman has worked there for ages. I've been there so many times and he seldom makes us feel welcomed. I've always tipped well, and I am easy to "serve." Today my son picked to go there, he loves their chicken Alfredo. Well, upon approaching it looked busy. I quickly scanned the tables to see if most had dinners, or were waiting, and only two were without food. Perfect. We asked if we could sit at the bar. After a huge eye roll, he ushered us that way. We were there for 25 minutes and did not order. There were two checks hanging in the kitchen, so the kitchen wasn't slammed. About 15 minutes into our wait he told the gentlemen in the kitchen to make us bread and put it down without saying a word. Then he put down two waters, again, with no eye contact or "I'll be right with you." Just plenty of rushing around the place with an attitude. At the 25 minute mark, not one employee had said a word to us so we left and went to Mustard Seed Bistro. They were also packed, but they still warmly greeted us and made us feel welcome. My party this evening was indecisive on what they wanted to eat, when I heard Italian I came to Yelp to see what the local offerings were, we stumbled on this little gem of a restaurant, upon arriving we were a little hesitant to go inside and a patron sitting outside told us "you've got to try it the food is amazing", so I unloaded my party from the vehicle and came inside to give it a shot, the smell you are greeted with after stepping inside reminds me of the cartoon shows we used to watch growing up where the character is floating in the air being driven closer to the meal. We were promptly greeted by this super nice lady which I assume is either the owner or manager, she sat us and mentioned some of the soups of the day, we told her about one of the members in our party who had some concerning allergies and she recommended something that she can have. We ordered the garlic rolls, if you haven't tried them, do yourself a favor and try them as soon as you can, it should be criminal to make garlic rolls that good. We also ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was really good. Everyone seated at our table enjoyed their meals. The Chicken parmigiana I ordered was just the right portion size with shaved cheese and light on sauce served over angel hair pasta, one of the members of our party had the spaghetti with meatballs which they call Spaghetti con Polpette Di Carne and she commented before receiving her dish that she wished they served it a little Al dente. Very friendly and welcoming. Staff are all very nice and helpful. I was very happy with my salad however I was a little underwhelmed with the deep dish pizza. Looks can be deceiving sometimes. I found the pizza sauce a bit too sweet for my taste and not enough. I ordered sausage, smoked ham and mushrooms and by ordering too many ingredients the waiter told me the cheese is not as plentiful so be mindful if you want or expect lots of cheese on your deep dish pizza also keep in mind to minimize the ingredients to one or none if any. I also found the cheese was not tasty it tasted bland. I will be back but not for the deep dish pizza; to taste their pastas they all looked amazing. Also fyi you must wait 1 hour for any deep dish pizza so call it in before you go. The ambiance was humbly comfortable and there's plenty of parking located in a strip mall and safe. If you like sweet pizza sauce I'd recommend you try it at least once and judge it yourself. They do use fresh ingredients so it is worth the value because it is a bit expensive especially if you're paying an additional 2.50 per ingredients. I hope to give them a 4 or 5 star next time. I was in the mood for authentic Italian food and stumbled upon this small excellent restaurant on yelp and decided on it based on the reviews. Service was on point and the food was delightful. Complimentary focaccia bread was fresh and warm. I had to stop myself from eating so much of it so I could save room for my order. For an appetizer I enjoyed the calamari. It wasn't the best I've had but it was definitely cooked just right. My entree was the penne alla vodka and I requested chicken and shrimp. Cooked perfectly. We had gone to three places before we called Il Baretto and they said that they had a table so we headed over. We were very close by and the table had a reserved sign on it for us, which was very kind. They had a few open tables it is a very small restaurant in a strip plaza. The server offered us wine and other beverages and two of the three of us had salad. I tasted the both of them. One was arugula with yellow tomatoes and shaved Parmesan. The other was Caesar with shaved Parmesan. This was good Reggiano parmigiana. The salads were cold and crisp and fresh. They also served some bread that reminded me of naan but was very crispy and had some spices on it, one being oregano. The bread was very good. I tried the risotto with shrimp and I had the penne alla vodka with shrimp. The food was all very good and the pasta was cooked really perfectly. The vodka sauce was very good and had an unexpected smoky flavor. It was a very thick sauce and not really what I thought to expect. It didn't taste like vodka sauce at all, but I liked it. The risotto was very good but a little bland and the shrimp were very fresh. Our server promptly refilled our glasses, but I had to ask for more bread, salt, pepper and parmigiana. The server didn't anticipate us needing those things, I guess. The service was good, but these missing items shouldnt really have been overlooked. Would I eat here again, of course. I'd like to try the eggplant because that was my first choice tonight but it was "86". You walk into the most charming dining room with an open face kitchen. The smell of dough, sauce, and spices fills your nose. I am not kidding! I swear we couldn't have had a better waiter, Jose. He was so attentive and informative. We started with a bottle of Signus Cabernet Sauvignon and some imported bread from Spain. The bread came with a house-made oil and red bell pepper sauce; it was so delicious. For an appetizer, we had the Polpette, which was two meatballs, marinara sauce, whipped ricotta & fresh basil. Everything is made in house, and you can tell. The meatballs were perfectly cooked and so flavorful. Of course, for dinner, Carbonara! Yelp was right. By far the best Carbonara I've ever had. I got the Pasta Aglio E Olio With Shrimp .. my husband (is from Chicago) and loved the deep dish pizza .. but it takes an hour so you can call ahead, my mother in law had the Veil parm and my fil had a build your own pasta. Last night my husband and I went there for the first time. We had the most wonderful time and the pizza was abs delicious. The sauce was light and not over powering the rest of the taste. The first time we went we fell in love with this place. The pizza is incredible and the pasta dishes have al been great with very fresh ingredients. We tried the boneless chicken small size and outside of them being delicious their small was the equivalent of an extra large at most restaurants.
