Vienna Cafe has various Chef created food Specials which take effect at start of weekend, I noticed. I saw a duck dish on Special so ordered it at the bar. When I sat at the bar I asked what I thought was a friendly question but bartender retorted "Why?" ending any conversation before one started. Moving on I thought I'd just try to enjoy my food. The duck, as it turned out, was a featured appetizer and came plated on a sweet sabayon dessert type sauce in a whipped orange flavor which made for an interesting contrast. My Main on this Friday was a salad known as Sonoma. Because I arrived towards the early evening/late afternoon the entertainer (musician) was just setting up, setup quickly, and soon I was enjoying some great live music. The salad came out but I did not have any silverware as mine was cleared away with the empty duck appetizer plate. Not to worry I took another silverware set along the bar seating and started on my salad. But I did not detect any apples. When the bartender reappeared I began asking "doesn't Sonoma salad come with apples?" I think he realized by my question I did not have any (apples) so he ended up telling me "sometimes it has a small amount of them 'as a garnish'." At that point I referred to the Menu which clearly set forth apples among the list of ingredients for this item. I told the bartender the Menu indicates it is supposed to come with apples. A friendly young waiter who was nearby and heard the exchange offered to bring some from the kitchen. Before paying I mentioned that I took silverware to eat with. That was met with silence. Returned to Vienna Wine Bar and tried one of their specials. The pork with maple Dijon sauce was delicious. Mixing savory and a slightly sweet sauce made for a tasteful combination. Paired perfectly with mashed potatoes and carrots it rounded out the meal well. Our server could haven't been more accommodating. This romantic establishment has had some changes but I'm glad to return and enjoy a new dish. read more

My mom has been raving about this place and I came here with her to meet old family friends. I loved how cozy it felt inside. They had an array of wines and we settled on the red blend. My mom had the escargot for her appetizer. I tried it for the first time and was surprised it was good! I had the Caesar salad and asked if I could take the mussels off the appetizer menu and just add some pasta to it for my main dish. The server was able to make that happen and I'm glad I asked! The red cabbage was very sweet & the spaetzle was kind of bland. So far nobody beats Checkers Old Muncheon for German fare. If you are here, please do yourself a favor and order the schnitzel, it is simply amazing. We also had the Vienna chicken and all the flavors were there. I have been meaning to try this place for a while. We were in the mood for German food. I made a reservation, which I recommend since it's a small quaint restaurant. We were promptly greeted and sat down. The very pleasant and friendly waiter came right over to tell us about the specials and provide us with water and take our drink order. He then brought us some very delicious and warm sourdough bread with butter. I ordered the fried baby artichoke hearts with shallots and heirloom tomatoes. It was fried to perfection not greasy but very crunchy. For our mains we ordered the veal wienerschnitzel for my wife since I don't eat veal, she had the potatoes au gratin and spaetzle. I ordered the Bavarian schnitzel which is pork with a layer of Bavarian mustard and gruyere cheese, both expertly cooked I had the purple cabbage and spaetzle. Both arrived very hot and the coating was amazingly crunchy. The restaurant is very quaint and moody with fresh roses on the table. Excellent for a quiet date night, they have a piano player which I believe starts at 7 pm. Highly recommended and will revisit. read more

Recently dined at Vienna Wine Bar and was immediately reminded why I am no longer interested in this establishment despite hosting my wedding rehearsal dinner several years ago. It used to represent a very sentimental place but has become a nuisance due to service. Ugh the service. My in laws decided to have dinner after my daughters ballet recital and Vienna was the chosen restaurant. We were the first guest to dine for dinner at 6pm and immediately sat down. The waiter took half the tables drink orders and skipped me and my daughter; faux pas! The Bartender brought out my husbands beer and decided to play a joke that NO one thought was funny when he politely requested a margarita for me and was told a sharp and abrupt NO which caused us all to look up at him startled! Haha just joking was the vague response. Okkkk! Brougt back a very sloppy drink without a napkin which was wet. It tasted as sloppy as it was presented. I enjoyed my steak which was cooked very nicely. I wish I was given an alternative choice as a side dish in lieu of the potatoes my daughters pasta with shrimp was completely drenched in butter and oil. The live pianist was charming. We have been dinning here for years and decided on take out last Wednesday night. We were craving their beef stroganoff. I don't like to leave negative reviews, however, our experience was baffling! Jordan answered the phone and was very friendly. I placed the order for the beef stroganoff and she asked if I wanted an extra side of noodles or spaetzle to which I declined. I then attempted to order the venison goulash and was told they were out of it. I attempted the elk medallions and was told that too was not available. So two main menu entrees and both out of stock on a Wednesday night at 7pm. Jordan offered the rump steak and I inquired about what comes with it and she said sautéed onions. I asked about roasted vegetables and was told that it would be an extra side item. I placed the order and was told it would be ready in about 30 mins. As I arrived the parking lot was empty, this place is always packed. I found it very strange. I walked in and one person was sitting at the bar and one table was occupied by two dinners. Again, very strange. Jordan completed my transaction and I glanced into the bag and observed a small square container of the stroganoff. Having ordered it countless times in the past I know it should be in a large dinner plate sized container. I asked about the small size and was told that it was, in-fact, the stroganoff. I asked where the noodles were and was told that I was asked if I wanted noodles when I placed the order. I said I was asked if I wanted an extra side of noodles and that noodles come with the meal. I was informed that they changed their menu two months ago and that items are now à la carte. Sorry, noodles are part of beef stroganoff and a steak should come with a side. I started to get a feeling of deep sadness as I knew something was off. The place was empty, entrees were not available, and a menu item that is commonly served over noodles is now an extra side item. Yes, I had to pay for a side of noodles that should be included with the meal. On top of that, the stroganoff was over salted and the beef was over cooked. We were not happy. My rump steak was very good and cooked to a perfect medium. Overall, we were very disappointed with the experience. Apparently this place is under new management and it's sad to see the changes that appear to be for the worse. Charging the same price for an entree and up charging for noodles is ridiculous. That's like ordering bolognese and charging extra for the pasta. I hope they make adjustments and I hope they do it real soon. read more

The menu is very limited, but the items that they do have are expertly prepared and incredibly delicious. They don't have fountain drinks for sodas, so you're gonna be paying a per can price which could be an issue if you're like my husband who can drink 5 cans ! After almost 30 years of eating at this exact restaurant, today was a bomb. We had a reservation, arrived early, and were greeted by a very unfriendly hostess. She seated us where we sat for over 20 minutes with no water, no wine (even though we ordered it) and certainly no order taken. Once we got our wine, we finally ordered and the waiter was nice but seemingly inexperienced. It was over 45 minutes before we got our food and the restaurant was less than half full. We never got refills on the water and had to flag servers down for service. While the food was good it was VERY overpriced and not worth the money. We understand it's Father's Day, but our daughter wanted to do something nice and I recommended this previously infallible place. We even saw a table return their food because it was cold. There seemed to be a manager present but he only seemed to stop at tables of people he knew and ignored those of us getting poor service. Also, there was only a fixed menu (as opposed to the full restaurant menu) so our choices were limited. Had we reserved at the dinner hour, we could forgive the service but this reservation was at 1:00 PM and the restaurant was as I said, half full. It was more than evident that Per was not on site. We love Vienna, and will come back but Father's Day was not a good celebration. read more

Vienna is a local gem that always delivers! The atmosphere is classy, and they even have a duet that performs sometimes. The wine list is great, and some nights you can get a discount on bottles. Service is top notch and friendly most times, and the food is always so delicious. My favorite is the beef stroganoff. I love the way that they do it. They prepare the filet separately and then just add it to the pasta. It's always cooked as requested as well. Another favorite is the chocolate soufflé. Yum. Again the sauce with it OMg! By the way the scallop potatoes here are so good i cried see pics! I have eaten a few times. I have ordered beef stroganoff and salmon. Both were flavorful and delish. The service is always great at Vienna Cafe. They have a lot of wines to choose from so there is something for any wine drinkers out there. I went to a birthday party and there were 10 of us. There was a lovely menu made up for this event. It looked pretty elegant. There was plenty of Harken Chardonnay to go around. The bread they give complimentary is ok. Just a little something to eat but nothing to get excited about. We had family style appetizers. Fried Artichokes, meatballs and samboucha shrimp. The fried artichokes we so good! The shrimp was OK. It had a sauce with it that was not too flavorful. I did not care for the meatballs but most of the other ladies liked them. They tasted too much like sausage for my liking. I chose the Sonoma salad with gorgonzala cheese. There was not much dressing on the salad yet it tasted very saturated with some sort of substance? Not sure. The salad was good just not great. I ordered the filet mignon with potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly for me. Medium which has a bit of pink to it. The potatoes were great and I got a huge portion of them. The lady next to me ordered the same thing and she got maybe 1/3 of the amount I got. Very inconsistent. We all had chocolate mousse cake and this was great. I am not even a huge chocolate person but I thought it was just right, not overly sweet. Our server did an excellent job handling outlook large group and a couple other tables. With their pan-European menu and classy interior, there's a lot to enjoy at Vienna Wine Bar. We stopped in to escape the rain and enjoyed a tasty lunch of the escargots bourguignon appetizer, and the chicken schnitzel and pork schnitzel sandwiches. The escargot was cooked very well. I will say that I've had escargot where the snails themselves had more flavor, but I thoroughly enjoyed this appetizer with the garlic butter and crusty baguettes. Between the chicken and pork schnitzel sandwiches, the pork was definitely my favorite. It was piled high with bacon and pickles and a delicious tangy mustard. The chicken version was a bit bland in comparison. While I liked the fresh greens and tomato, the citrus aioli needed more bite. Both sandwiches were huge, with two cutlets each. As for the sides, the fries were good and crispy and the red cabbage we subbed in on one entree was delicious, with a good balance between sweet and sour vinegar flavor. I do feel like our waiter kind of put a damper on our experience though. I found his attitude and attempts at humor pretty grating, and thought it detracted from the ambiance of the place. Still, I would be interested in returning to Vienna Wine Bar to explore more of their menu (just hopefully with a different waiter). read more

Vienna is one of the best places to go with a big group for brunch, lunch or dinner. They have 2 private dining areas that seat about 10-20 guests. It isn't cheap, but the food is fresh and delicious and the portions are big. We had a ladies' gift exchange dinner at Vienna in December that was awesome and I just attended a Sunday brunch for a group of 11. We had a special menu that was $29. It started with some fresh bread and preserves, and a cheese plate with seasonal fruit. We had 3 main course options: Vienna Breakfast Plate, Spinach & goat cheese frittata, and the Vienna Famous French toast. I had the French toast and it was delicious with big crispy cornflake-coated pieces of French bread, thick maple syrup, and berry compote. I hadn't had French toast in ages & I pretty much devoured the whole thing! Two of my friends had the frittata. One had it like it was listed on the menu, with goat cheese, and another substituted cheddar cheese for the goat cheese. The portions were huge, the size of the plate, and both friends said it was really yummy! Another friend had the Vienna Breakfast Plate which came with scrambled eggs, andouille sausage, applewood bacon, and roasted fingerling potatoes. It was a lot of food and she said it was quite good. We also had our choice of coffee, tea, or juice and mimosas snd bloody Mary's could be ordered for an additional $10. For a big group I was surprised how good our service was, and the private room was fantastic. It still had the European vibe; but it was nice being all alone with just friends. I had high hope for this restaurant. I saw a reviewed on Tiktok and the food did look amazing When you first enter the restaurant the aromas of the food is amazing. It's delicious. The space is very homey. I really love the paintings on the wall. It's atmosphere feel soft, romantic and relaxing. Drink: Lychee martini 8/10 I had the following food: Bread and butter 7/10 too much salt on the butter Appetizer - pork belly - 4/10 with Apple cider & chili glaze. It was drench in the chili sauce. The chili sauce was so much and I did not like it. Pork belly did not have any flavors and too me was dry. The Brussels Sprout was meh. I was generally disappointed. I even ask the server is this how the pork belly is suppose to look like because it looked very different on Tiktok. I originally wanted to get the lamb but skipped because of service. Service felt slow to me. And no it was not that busy. It was slow enough that I was able to watch my server clean up other sections. My server was stale. She handed me the menu and walked away. Usually a server would introduce themselves. Ask if you been here before. But hey! It was obvious to me that this lady was subpar. The manager did stop by for a brief second and he seems nice. For years Vienna Wine Bar has been one of my go-to restaurants for celebrations and/or special occasions. Their service is top notch, the menu selections are varied, and I love the ambiance. As we were seated today, Romain (the general manager) stopped by, introduced himself and made sure we had all we needed. I loved my Chef Salad with Grilled Chicken. The Peppercorn dressing served with it is my favorite. My friend had the Sonoma Salad with a perfectly grilled piece of salmon resting on top of it. For dessert the waitress said she was already instructed to bring me a birthday dessert (lol, thanks, Romain). The chocolate cake was divine and truly decadent. The cappuccinos were also A+. 12/10/2020- Co-workers holiday lunch. Came with three of my coworkers for the very first time to Vienna Wine Bar and it will not be the last. We were greeted right away and seated in a round table which gave us plenty of space between us. Our server was wonderful, very attentive and friendly. We ordered waters and were also brought a basket of delicious bread. I sampled all of them especially because they were brought out warm. I ordered the lunch special which was a grilled fish sandwich with fries. The fish was fresh and it was a pretty big piece of fish. The fries could have used a little bit of seasoning though. Will be coming here for lunch more often. It's a great change of pace from the usual Davie lunch spots. read more
