My first Ima and my first ramen as this is the only place with pork-free broths. The server was sweet. They give you a number and they will send it to your table. I was very early and I sat the the sunniest window. The food came and after poking it a bit, there was no additional chicken that ordered. I brought the bowl back to the front and they were so cool about it. They apologised, top the bowl with chicken and sent it back to me. Good customer service based on that alone! Now, on to the miso ramen bowl. The serving was huge! The sliced tofu pieces were big and satisfying. The chicken meat was sliced too and quite a big portion. Very good, I repeatedly get the "spicy tori ramen" and tend to add extra noodles. Not cheap but the portions are large enough to fill you up. Make sure to ask for chili sauce or hot sauce or whatever on the side because its pretty mild, you'll probably want it hotter. I also added smoked pork to my ramen which I honestly didn't need but was still ok, a bit dry. Unfortunately we're pretty hard to please when it comes to ramen- we've been a little spoiled eating the ramen from Japan and Toronto. That being said- the noodles here are decent (especially when you're craving it and not willing to drive min. 3 hours to go get some). We've definitely been here a few times. The only downside is it's not cheap eats...so we only come when we have a big craving. My favorite thing here is their calamansi & Yuzu juice. It's a little on the sweet side- but I just get an extra glass and voila- more bang for my buck! To be fair- it's the best asian noodle place I've had so far in the area. I have been avoiding dining out since Covid hit, but goooood grief are my taste buds and I bored! I ordered carryout, arrived, and did contact-less pick up. Everyone inside has masks on. The diners on the patio were the most well-spaced of anywhere I've seen, and they were brought their meals by restaurant staff who were wearing masks. This should be common sense these days, but it tragically is not. After some out-and-about anxiety had been eased by my experience here, I went to another popular restaurant in the area the following week. I didn't feel good about anything there (crowded patio of mask-free crazies and abundant indoor seating that didn't appear generously spaced). I should have just ordered from Ima, again. Thanks for the delicious dinner, thanks for the feeling of security, and I promise to be back to hang out and order a fiscally irresponsible amount of add-ons when the world reopens. read more

She highly recommended the spicy tori ramen with sesame chicken, which I was a little skeptical of because I wasn't too familiar with all the ingredients in it. BUT, let me say it was a life changer! The flavors were so bold and savory; it definitely exceeded my expectations. The portions are also massive! I got 2 meals out of my one bowl. On top of that the customer service was phenomenal. Delicious! Ima in madison heights has a fast casual vibe, where you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. This restaurant won detroit restaurant of the year, and it's obvious why! The food is delicious, affordable ($15 a plate), and they have so many options. Vegans rejoice! Theres tons of vegan options, and they're all so so good. My favorite is the forest udon. Super fast takeout - I called and the server was so accommodating to my tight schedule. I also asked for an ingredient sub and was able to be taken care of quickly. The takeout was packaged so well, and the broth was still warm when we sat down to eat. I ordered 2 spicy tori ramens with chicken and a forest udon for myself -- so delicious!!! This is my second time coming and I would definitely come again for the udon. The ramens were well received too!
