Immigrant Son Café is next level 5+ stars! Wanted a special place for my niece's 21st birthday. Never expected the delicious food and service we found here. Both breakfast and lunch offerings were delicious. I've never had pasta served in a bread bowl and this one made you want to actually eat the whole bread bowl- Delicious! The Chilaquiles were authentic and spicy. The sauce was perfect and I am very picky about my Mexican food! Love the restaurant's ambience with an industrial modern vibe. The large area out front along Main Street is a great place to people watch and it fills up fast! Our amazing waiter Michael overheard us wishing our niece a happy birthday and made sure that he brought our table a special tiramisu dessert for her without our asking. Came with a group for brunch on Saturday. We got luck and sat quickly (it got busier after we were seated). We sat outside, they had umbrellas for sun cover. I wish I had gotten the waiter's name, he was fantastic. We ordered cocktails and appetizers. The whipped burrata was our favorite, closely followed by the bacon flight. I thought that was gimmicky but it was truly great. Main courses were also beautiful and delicious. I had the chicken parm which I would order again in a heart beat. Everyone loved their dishes. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience here. I was looking forward to trying this place out but both the food and service weren't very good. The biggest issue is that they double charged me which I didn't see until after I got home. Our waiter, Michael, was pretty rude and just seemed to have a chip on his shoulder. Honesty, he was just kind of bitchy. From the moment he seated me and throughout the experience he just seemed to have bad attitude as if he was too good to be working there. Online, the food looked like it would be really good but it was pretty average at best and definitely not worth the price. I got one of the omelets and my friend got the lasagna. The food was kind of bland and cold and just not really anything special or particularly good. Regarding the double charge, it would be one thing if they accidentally charged my card twice and cancelled one of them but let me know that this had happened. I only now just saw a notification that I was charged twice and am unsure what happened so am just hoping that they did cancel one of them but won't know until it's done processing. On top of a poor overall experience, this is now unwanted administrative work that I have to deal with, if I'm even able to stop the charge from going through. So yeah, I won't be going back and don't recommend to others. Disappointed. read more

Excellent brunch and service. The wait was minimal even though it was clearly busy, and the service was prompt even on a Saturday for brunch. My mom and I split the yogurt parfait which was super tasty, and I had the eggs benedict with the prosciutto. It was delicious and honestly looking at other people's food around the the restaurant, everything looked pretty good. Our waitress was so friendly and super pretty lol. I didn't get her name unfortunately. But, I had ordered a hot chai and I got an iced one (from another server), and she came and immediately apologized. They brought me a hot chai even though I told them it was really ok and I would just drink the iced one, so that was very good service. Would definitely recommend and return. read more

Background On Visit: Originally, we were planning to go to Finney Crafthouse for lunch, but a small business owner from Fiddle and Fern told us that there was a great breakfast place that we had to try out and so we DID! Restroom: One restroom stall towards the back of the restaurant Credit Card: They do accept credit cards. Location/Parking: Located in between N. California St. and N. Chestnut St.. Parking can be found in neighboring streets. They also have have meter parking. Just remember that they block off parts of Main St.. Stayed at Best Western so the the walk to this place wasn't far and didn't have to stress about finding parking. Ambiance/Decor: Pretty neat place. Had this pretty chill ambiance that matched the beach town. From the outside, the restaurant looks small, but when you go further inside it's spacious. Modern furnishings and neat decor through out the restaurant. Service: The hostess was very nice and attentive. She greeted us and surveyed inside and the outdoor patio to see how long the wait would be. We didn't have to wait long to get a table. The staffer that took our order forgot to put a order in. He was apologetic and told us that it was a misunderstanding. Even though, the order wasn't placed in the first place, we did order it towards the end of our meal. Food For Thought: 1) Poblano Omelet: Omelet was very good. It consisted of pulled chicken, poblano, and mozzarella cheese. It also came with a side of breakfast potatoes, fruit, and your choice of toast. The breakfast potatoes were over seasoned and tasted very salty to me. I'll ask them next time if it's possible to have them unsalted. 2) Breakfast Lasagna: The main STAR of the meal! My goodness! It's was soo goooood! It was worth the wait and would love to eat it again. Plus, I really LOVE lasagna! :) 3) Tiramisu: Very enjoyable. I definitely think this place has better tiramisu than Pasta Sisters! We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana, Cousin Michael Carbonara, Spaghetti & Meatballs, and Shrimp Fra Diavolo -- and yes, we got all the pastas in their house-made bread bowls, which are baked in-house and worth every bite alone. When I say the meatballs are the best I've ever had, I mean it. Perfectly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth, cooked exactly right -- I could honestly write a love letter to those meatballs. I love that the pasta comes in bread bowls. The pasta is really fresh. The carbonara was tasty but a little light in flavor. I recommend one of their other sauce options, especially the alla vodka or any of the tomato based ones. They have great breakfast variety and I think the best time to go here is for brunch. And of course there're Benedict's, omelettes and other traditional fare. Our granddaughter devours the fresh OJ. And there are favorite coffee and espresso drinks. Alessandro knows his biz and manages his eatery hands on, confident in his friendly, efficient staff, like Cindy, a hostess making everyone feel welcome, and Faith, who has a high chair and table for 5 on the sunny outer area set up in a flash. Great food, service, drinks, and ambiance! I've had the original Ventura location bookmarked for a while, but finally got to try it here at The Collection. Even arriving at 12:30 on a Sunday, we only had to wait about 20-30 minutes which wasn't bad. I tried one of their specialty Italian breakfast drinks they were offering with espresso, a liquor, egg white, and more...I forget what it was called but it was quite tasty! It's a small hot drink more unique than my typical mimosa choice (which looked quite good too, nice size glass and made with the right OJ & champagne proportions!). Though the breakfast lasagna was tempting, I got the Focaccia Breakfast Sandwich which was very good. The burrata scrambled eggs were just YUM. A friend suggested going here for brunch and I was excited to come here since I've heard such great things! I instantly loved the ambience and loved the outdoor patio and indoor seating areas. We ordered a pumpkin spice latte which was tasty and had a perfect amount of sweetness to it. I loved the pumpkin spice topping too. The bacon flight was pretty, but the taste was off on every one I tried. They tasted old and low quality. The texture was good and crispy, but the flavor wasn't good. The prosciutto eggs benedict wasn't very good either. The temperature of it was room temperature and the bread was very lightly toasted and not enough for my liking. The poached egg was undercooked and almost inedible. The hollandaise sauce was average, but nothing great. The potatoes with onions and red peppers were quite yummy though. Our service was good and our server checked up on us regularly and was sweet. Overall, the service and ambiance were great. I always order the same thing because I love it so much much, the giovanni omelette- add mushrooms. You can't go wrong. The coffee was great and I like me time coffee. I was surprised how good the food was. I ordered the burger with tallow fried onion rings. The onion rings were best I've had. The burger was good too. I came here for the first time on March 4, 2026 to celebrate my mom's birthday, and unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. She ordered the breakfast lasagna, and I ordered the Molisa Egg Benedict. Both dishes really lacked flavor. The lasagna sauce had an unpleasant bland taste and wasn't anything to rave about like so many reviews suggest. The Egg Benedict also had very little flavor it mostly just tasted like bread and egg. Even the potatoes were just plain potatoes without any seasoning or standout taste. As for the drinks, my flat white tasted like it came straight from a basic coffee machine it didn't have that rich espresso flavor you'd expect. The Americano just tasted like regular coffee. When I saw how high up this place made it on Yelp's top brunch spots in 2024 I knew it was my sign to finally give this place a try. We came for brunch on a weekday holiday and it was quite busy but we were able to be seated without a wait. The host out front greeted us warmly, so already off to a great start! We ordered the breakfast lasagna and the immigrant son. The breakfast lasagna is definitely a hearty brunch item, but I happened to be starving that day. While it's just the eggs and bacon that really makes this a "breakfast" lasagna, the sauce really stood out. I didn't know marinara sauce could taste so good! The lasagna was just cheesy goodness. The Immigrant Son is a sandwich with prosciutto, pesto, and burrata. While it appears to be a very simple item, the ingredients are super fresh. I really loved how fragrant the pesto was. Prices are a little on the higher side, but I think it's because of the quality of the ingredients they use so it's worth the splurge. This place is located in downtown Ventura so if you're okay with walking you can probably find some free street parking. They even gave us a free cookie after our meal, which was such a sweet surprise! Our waitress was very attentive and this place overall has great vibes. read more
