I'm writing this after a disappointing experience, especially since multiple Yelp reviews already cautioned about poor communication. Unfortunately, those warnings turned out to be accurate. I previously received care at this location when it was Uniform Teeth and had a much better experience. Since the takeover by Impressed, the level of service has noticeably declined. I called to get basic information about reestablishing my retainers. The woman who answered the phone was unable to answer my questions and told me she would speak with the doctor and call me back. That call never came. For something as important as orthodontic care, communication and follow-through matter. Based on this experience alone, I won't be returning or moving forward as a patient. read more

I was a customer at both the SF and Oakland locations. After two months of going back and forth with their customer service because their app was broken and it's the only way to order replacement retainers, they finally told me they lost my original digital scans and I would need to go in again to be scanned. It's also $599 for two sets of Vivera retainers which is way more expensive than local orthodontists. So: bad software, terrible customer service, and very expensive. read more

Do not waste your money, time and sanity with this company. This has been one of the worst services I have ever seen. They owe me $1.750 that they keep saying they wil pay back but it has been 5 months and I haven't received it. I signed up more than a year ago for their treatment and so many things have gone wrong. 1) I have dental insurance that covers 50% of the treatment. They said I needed to pay full price directly to them and that they would help me get a refund from the plan. After that the plan said they should have billed them directly, paid Impress my 50% directly around 7 months ago. Impress said they would then refund me directly and I just needed to send them my bank account details. It has been 5 months and they haven't given me the money. I have followed up constantly and they say ten have a billing issue they will resolve. What incompetent company needs more than 5 months to fix that? I think they either don't have the money to pay me back $1,750 or they don't want to. Do NOT trust this company. Now they are simply ignoring my emails and when I call they say they can't do anything on they end and will have a manager call me. But still haven't gotten my money back. 2) After scanning my teeth the aligners should have arrived home 4 to 6 weeks after, but they took more than 4 months to arrive. And it only arrived because I called to see what was going on and they hadn't been processed into their system. 3) My treatment wasn't really done by the end of the aligners, so I had a scan to get new ones. But again the system had an issue, so they called me in again one week after the scans. I had to drive back to SF and loose another afternoon due to their error. 4) I signed up for their Santa Clara office. A few weeks in, they closed that office so I had to drive 1h30 more to get treatment in San Francisco. They should have let me know that was happening when I was signing up read more

Uniform teeth for my son years ago was great. Impress for my daughter has been a nightmare. Opening the account took months and was never fully done properly. Phone calls are never answered, and your not called back. Email is not working either. I'm even wondering if they've gone out of business! They only looked at the top teeth, so they didn't do their job properly and when we went in person for the end of the ttt, well. We had to back to MANY weeks. They should be ashamed of the way they're treating you. The work on the teeth was good though. But we're still waiting for retainers (it's been months) and nobody is getting in touch/answering. I paid over $5,000 for Invisalign more than a YEAR ago, and I never received it. Since then, I've contacted them at least 10 times, and every time I'm told that "someone will reach out soon", but no one ever does. The last person I spoke with, Caye, told me in early February that I will probably be eligible for a refund (minus some expenses), which I was perfectly fine with. She said she'd follow up by mid-February. It's now mid-April--two months later--and I've heard nothing. Sent multiple e-mails, only to never get a response. I've called almost every other day, and even the person at the front desk knows me by now. He's just as confused as I am about why no one has followed up. I've paid over $5,000 and am still being charged monthly, yet I've received nothing in return and no real communication. This has been, without exaggeration, the worst customer service experience I've had in my life. In over 10 years of using Yelp, I've never left a review until now. That should tell you something. I'm only writing this in the hope that someone from Impress finally takes my case seriously. At this point, I cannot understand how anyone would feel comfortable moving forward with them. I moved out of state and made an appointment in March for May. Yesterday (one week before the appt), I received an email saying my appt was cancelled and changed to the following week. I called them today and they let me know the reason was due to no doctors being in the office that week.. it wouldn't be a big deal if I lived in the city, but I had booked a flight back to sf for the appt. It's very frustrating that no prior notice was given and when I called them there was no explanation as to why not a single doctor will be in the office for more than a week. Honestly I somewhat enjoyed getting my aligners done under the Uniform Teeth umbrella and have my main complaints with the Impress platform. I had lost my final 5 trays in a move and was forced to (granted this is my own fault) purchase replacements at $100 per set. My main complaints and why I wouldn't recommend Impress today: - the app is impossibly glitchy and doesn't work as well as the old Uniform Teeth one did. - it takes a very long time to be able to troubleshoot fit; I had known that an earlier set of aligners weren't working properly for me but it took months to be told by someone on the app that I should come in to get my aligners adjusted. - this assumes you want to change your aligners weekly; my dentists even comment that rapid changes to straighten your teeth are a choice that they don't entirely get behind. Slower is totally ok! - shipping time for retainers is disastrous. The quality of the retainers after they became Impress is clearly downgraded. - slow and general lack of response by the team when you're almost done with treatment. The orthodontists, when you finally see them, are totally fine. You'll see them maybe 2x? If you have an advanced case though... seriously, just go get Invisalign with a regular practice. Most of these reviews look bought or fake. Sort for the bad ones and you'll see something is going on. Do with that what you will. read more

A very bad experience. Treatment took twice as long and was a real problem getting liners and scans due to disorganized office staff with poor communication. The dentist rushed dental services and the final results were not what I was originally told was possible when I was sold a treatment plan to straighten my teeth. I would avoid this company and go elsewhere. Poor example of how to treat people fairly or even listen to their concerns and attempt to rectify things afterwards in order to create an acceptable outcome. Felt like the dentist was more concerned about telling me why it was my fault their treatment didn't work and how much more it was going to cost to make right than take any responsibility, offer any compassion or understanding, or even have a smidge of credible professional accountability. I regret using this company for such an important personal decision, and for entrusting them to do something so special for myself; to feel better about my smile. Don't make the mistake I did, go to a trusted orthodontist with good reviews. My case was simple (they said in the beginning) and they told me the trays would work to realign and move the teeth needed to make the corrections. Later they said trays couldn't rotate and fix my case due to spacing and bite and "stubborn teeth". So either they could not diagnose my case properly initially, or they were not being honest about the limitations of what their treatment could do. Either way, I wish I had not gone here and instead used traditional fixed braces and another orthodontist. It would have been worth it to me to do it right, I can't redo this. So what I have when I look in the mirror is a memory of this bad experience and a big gap where the filler they installed fell out barely a year after it was done. read more

Great salesmen, mediocre dentists. First off, there are a lot of 5 star reviews from accounts with exactly 1 review, which is a little suspect. On to the actual review... I generally had a negative experience and here's why: 1. Timeline: I spoke with invisalign and the timeline they gave was 24 months. Impress (or whatever they are called this month) promised me that they could do it in 9 months because they were based on a "different tech that would better predict movement of teeth leading to a faster process". Dr K. (yes, that's what he calls himself) mumbled something about patented technology to make the sales pitch. I figured my teeth didn't need a whole lot of correction and that seemed more reasonable. The actual process took over 2 years! 2. Price: You might be tempted to go with Uniform Teeth because they cost about 1/2 as much as Invisalign, but the reason for that is they only do half the job. You then have to go to a real orthodontist to actually finish the work. 3. Disingenuity: There are a couple of things they conveniently omit until after you sign on. Dr. Aggie repeatedly insisted the reason it was taking longer than the promised 9 months was because my teeth were resistant to movement by the plastic trays!? I'm not a dentist but surely you should have factored that in rather than present an overly optimistic timeline. I also have 1 tooth that never developed leading to spacing being a little off in 1 quadrant. This was never brought up as a concern in aligning the teeth, but was later cited as the reason my teeth couldn't be fixed. Dr. Aggie insisted that it was aligned despited by clearly off. I consulted another orthodontist who concurred with me as well. 4. Final gripe: Dr. Aggie was unable to bridge the gap between 2 lower teeth and explained that the way to bridge it was to first widen it by shaving off of part of the contact between the teeth. The gap never closed and I was understandably upset as this went on for a few months. She then says "Well, we have a clinic in Oakland that will do it. Normally we charge for that filing, but as a courtesy we will do it for free :)" You made the decision to widen the gap. I could fit a whole chicken wing in there. You are not doing my a favor by having me cross a bridge to fill a gap you created! That is not a courtesy, you're fixing what was promised at the beginning. Overall, not a great experience. My treatment with Uniform teeth was almost 1.5 years ago. What was initially supposed to be a 9-month treatment ended up lasting for 1.5 years. I do like my result but I remember in the final stage of my treatment, basically 2-3 trays before finishing I had to go back to the clinic to get more trays as I still had big gaps in between my teeth. I already knew that the initial doctor who did my IPR, teeth reduction, took way too much off. Even after I received more trays, Uniform Teeth never really followed up with me. Since merging (or being bought out) by Impress, quality care has gone way down. The first round I had back in 2021 was excellent. I decided to do another round in 2024 after getting lazy with my retainer, and was planned out for a 4 month treatment plan, but... 1) the aligners took 8 weeks to be made and delivered, despite me calling virtually everyday to check status, as it was promised after 4 weeks. And calling their help line was always disastrous. Never to their San Francisco office, always to someone in India or Bangledesh. When I finally got my aligners, they didn't work. They felt lesser quality than the ones I had in 2021.. so again, i'm suspicious of the newer company not emphasizing quality product. My teeth straightened a little, but not enough. So i went back to meet with Dr. A who prescribed me an additional 6 weeks of aligners. And guess what happens... its another EIGHT weeks of waiting for new aligners. If I skip to the end, it still didn't make my teeth as straight as I wanted. Rather than go back for a 3rd time, I called it quits. TRUST THE PROCESS!! Impress, formerly Uniform Teeth, has changed my life! I was always embarrassed about my teeth, got made fun of by some friends, and was always self conscious about my smile. I would sometimes get ads on social media about different companies claiming to fix my teeth. I was always in disbelief and thought somehow they were all scams. Idk I'm weird. My family didn't have much money growing up and fixing my teeth was never a priority. Now as a working adult decided it was time to take a chance with Uniform Teeth (Impress). They explained the whole process through and through, made me feel so comfortable throughout the way, and the staff was all so freaking friendly and welcoming. The app itself was user friendly, it kept track of your progress, was able to message staff anytime and it was nice being able to go into office so they can see your progress in person to make adjustments accordingly. An update to my review: I FINALLY got a hold of someone at the actual office location after countless calls with their support staff. I spoke with Temune, who notified me my missing retainers were found (again, it doesn't seem like this would have been flagged to me unless I reached out to them first) and would be overnighted to me since I had to wait almost 3 months for them. It has been over 5 days now, and the delivery status is still marked as "pending" on the carrier's website, which tells me the label has been created but not actually dropped off to UPS as promised. I am beyond frustrated with the lack of follow through, support, and frankly, care from this company and their staff. This entire ordeal has been dealt with poorly for a simple order and I'm now having to unfortunately look into several different avenues to file formal complaints with the company. read more

My experience with Impress was awesome. Customer service was easy to reach and super helpful, and it was great knowing actual orthodontists were managing my care. I looked into invisalign as well and Impress required way fewer attachments than Invisalign, which made the process so much better. The treatment was faster than Invisalign's timeline too (something to do with the type of plastic they use and the process they move your teeth in - I didn't quite understand). My experience with Impress was less than impressive and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. In November 2023, I purchased the invisible aligner treatment during a black Friday promotion and was told that I had applicable dental insurance coverage and they would take care of filing the claim for me. Over the next few months, I tried to inquire about the status of the claim, but I was told it was either still "in progress" or that someone would call me back with information (they never did.) Today, almost a year later, I reached out again to see if I could get answers and was told the claim was just resubmitted. When I called my insurance provider, they informed me that when the claim was originally submitted in 2023, they requested additional information that was never provided by Impress, so the claim was dismissed shortly thereafter. I don't think anyone on the Impress team would have bothered to look into this had I not frequently contacted them. The outcome of the alignment was fine. It took much longer than the 3 months quoted at the beginning, but that is true of any orthodontic treatment. Dealing with the insurance claims and the relative difficulty of booking appointments in Santa Clara has taken longer than the treatment did. read more

Nightmare company. Avoid at all costs. They do not have it together at all. Scammers. I showed up to their Santa Clara location to get my aligners removed, and there was a NO TRESSPASSING Sign on the door. The dentist arrived the same time as me and was shocked as well. MESSY. This was 3 months ago, and they still have the location listed as open when it clearly is not. But that's not my only grievance. It was a pain to schedule any appointment, and it took them 5 months to send my first set of aligners. Then it took forever to get an appointment for my attachments. They don't answer the phone and if they do its a company oversees. Finally I was ready to get my attachments removed and it took 3 months to get an appointment because they literally would cancel anything I scheduled at the last minute. The last straw was showing up to the Santa Clara location and seeing the no tresspassing sign. I had to take a half day of work off to travel to their San Francisco location just to finally get my attachments removed. They offered my retainer for free because of the hassle and I was like ok cool, at least you guys are trying to make it right but nooooo.... out of the blue I got an email saying I owe $50 because my insurance didn't cover my entire copay. Mind you I made my payment in November of 2023. They emailed me this is February of 2025. How are you guys this disorganized across the board? Just stay away and use invisalign. Impress has completely changed my smile.I was told by orthodontists before that it would be hard to make my teeth straight with just aligners at the state they were in but here at impress they showed me it's possible. They were able to straighten my teeth without taking any of my teeth out and I was able to fall in love with my smile. I was not a great patient I lost my aligners a lot and wouldn't wear them long enough and they were still very patient with me and helped me reach my goal. 1 star. I paid $5000 upfront for fixing minor issues, a middle line and for expanding my upper jaw. This hefty price was about double the average Invisalign price for my case type. What I ended up with was less expansion of the jaw/smile, loss of bite balance & bad occlusion. I stopped smiling during my treatment with Impress X Uniform Teeth as they could hardly allow me to smile. The whole experience was horrific. The Team is very pretentious, with mediocre results. Consequently, my bite is now messed up, misaligned. They refused to see me in-person several times and only after multiple messages/calls pleading to be seen was I then able to get appointment. I had wanted to do Invisalign (25+ years proven technology experience in the market), but was told by the founder, Dr. Aamodt Kjeld that his technology was better than Invisalign. Their aligners are less thick than Invisalign and they don't use buttons to stabilize the teeth positions most of treatment though. If something goes wrong with Invisalign, you can contact the brand and change provider - Not with Impress. Using this shady business felt like going to a butcher and getting dog meat after ordering filet mignon. This business was not transparent about the service they provide, their social media ads are misleading. Their practices are unethical and the overall greed I sensed was appalling. Basically, another new polemic teeth clear aligners business like: SmileDirectClub, Candid or SureSmile. *Results: My left/right jaws are currently uneven and don't close completely; my teeth are asymmetrical. I now have lower crushed molars (and an implant) that are crushed into my gums, my upper/lower canine teeth are now in conflict when I eat (not as "retainers" at night), and now I have chipped teeth, a rotated tooth: that all was not happening before I saw this practice. I showed them these results in my last appointment, and again they pretended everything looked good. Instead of fixing the issues caused, Dr. Aamodt Kjeld tried to "impress me" giving me a lecture about "acid reflux" like if I was ignorant or was his student at UCSF, not a customer/patient - I do not have acid reflux, btw. It was always about their academic narcissism and never about pleasing the customer in need. All very unprofessional and disrespectful. They also referred me to another Dr. "friend" of theirs - UCSF (CitiDent), implying that I could now remedy things with expensive restorative work (porcelain veneers). Impress refused to finish the treatment and said they'd give me a refund. I left their offices as I felt unsafe and said I'd call them later to talk about it. *Office visit requirements, Simulations, App: This is an online orthodontics business model (cheap for them). I was often asked to send detailed app messages about the status of my treatment. They always said they'd need weeks to study my case before they would permit me to see the doctor. I assume this was their "academic" (wait and see), approach. I feel as if patients here are treated like an experiment, presented with a computer generated, idealized smile which never materialized and which they didn't have the professionalism and know how to fix in the end. Also, their app does not work and has bugs. They have automated messages, so basically, you're talking to robots, not humans. *Treatment time duration: 9-10 months. Then it turned out to 2 years. Next, I was sent home with aligners with bumps in my lower canines (no buttons) and was told these were my retainers and refused to see me again. That said, treatment has now taken about 3 yrs+, but clearly: unfinished (more than 1 year wearing their last provided clear aligners - evenings). Also, for (several) new impressions, I had to wear the latest aligners anywhere from 2-4 months. I felt as if during these lengthy waiting periods that my teeth were either over-treated or there was simply no progress during this time span. Apparently, they didn't know what they were doing - inventing the science as they went. *Gaslighting/Intimidation/Retaliation: Patients are made to believe that the bad results are their fault and forbidden to see other orthodontists for a second opinion. Apparently, they believe most of us have low IQs. Orthodontists say now I have bad bite/occlusion. *Refunds: All about money, not health. They advertise on social media they refund unhappy customers. I contacted them to get my refund, they refused to give me my full refund amount. They then said they'd do a partial refund. For what: unfinished treatment? For being a guinea pig, part of a start-up clear aligners' experimental project? To get that refund they said I had to sign a legal document stating I could not express publicly my discontent - limiting my freedom of speech. I declined as I do not support this company's poor practices. I always dreamed of having straight teeth and I can't believe it's now a reality - especially within 5 months?? I've never had braces before and was born with near perfect teeth at the top but a lot happening on my bottom teeth.. a lot of crooked teeth in the back molars and a snaggle in the front. I found Uniform Teeth while I was researching different companies that used invisible trays. I decided on Uniform Teeth because I wanted to be seen by an actual orthodontist in person throughout the treatment and pricing was great. I went in for a consultation and decided to sign up after the appointment! I never felt pressured to sign up - I was blown away by their technology and felt really comfortable with everyone I met and the support they gave throughout the treatment process. They did some x ray pictures and used their fancy machine to take additional pictures of my teeth so they can plan out how they will move my teeth with each new tray. I was categorized as a Level 1 case so they estimated my treatment to be 6 months. A few weeks later, my trays were ready and I came in to pick them up! On that appointment, I had the opportunity to work with their lovely assistant, Michelle, that helped me glue attachments in my teeth to ensure that the trays stay in place on my teeth during the alignment phase! Then Dr. Aggie came in and filed down (is that the right term??) some of my teeth to make room for all the movements since I had an overcrowding issue. I was very nervous before the appointment because who wants someone to file down their teeth?? But it was a painless process and now looking back at how my teeth turned out - Dr. Aggie did an amazing job! For the next 22 weeks, I was using the trays. I would switch out to a new tray every week. At the end of each week before I made a switch to the new tray, I'd upload a picture of my teeth on the Uniform Teeth app so the care team can take a look at my progress and can ensure I am tracking well! Some weeks, my teeth were more sore than other weeks but the soreness subsided after about 3 days using the tray. Once I was done with all the trays, I made another appointment to be seen for my refinement. This is where you come back in for an office visit and they take a look at how your teeth turned out and whether there are some small tweaks they need to make so your teeth will be perfect. I highly recommend planning ahead to make that appointment - they get booked up really fast! I booked my appointment two months in advance knowing that my last tray was ending on Dec 15th. Thank goodness I did that because when I looked back at available appointments in early December, there were no more appointments available until January! I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Aamodt on my last appointment! He was great - I told him a few areas where I felt needed some refinement and he took a closer look, he checked all the spacing between my teeth to make sure the gaps weren't too far apart, checked on my bite, and took my attachments off! He informed me on how long he expects my refinement process to take. I am expecting 4-6 more trays to close some spacing and fix my bite! But excited to know that I am 98% there! We took another x ray and used the fancy machine for more pictures before I left so they can prepare my last set of trays. They also gave me a small bottle of champagne to celebrate before I left! I'm still blown away by the progress my teeth has made in just 5 months and am so excited that I'm nearing the end of my journey. Thank you Dr. Aggie, Dr. Phillips, Dr. A, Dr. Yoo, Karen, Aaron, Jason, Ronnie, and everyone else at the Market St. office for taking such good care of me over the last 14 months!! I started my treatment with Dr. Yoo last year before he moved. While I was suggested to have pre-molar extractions and lower jaw surgery, Dr. Yoo worked with my dentist in providing an alternative plan. After 45 trays, 21 attachments and lots of IPR, my open bite, over-jet, and crowding were corrected! My plan did take a little longer than expected due to the pandemic and stubborn lateral incisors, but it was very much worth it. The entire team is professional, courteous, and such a joy to be with. I have very sensitive teeth due to gum recession, and they were always so patient with me. Transitioning away from Dr. Yoo to the other orthodontists was a bit confusing, but I enjoyed their transparency and willingness to complete my plan. Dr. Aggie worked on all of my refinements to ensure my teeth were perfect! I was even given a bottle of champagne for graduating from Uniform Teeth. My only feedback would be about the app. There is poor communication between office visits and the app team. There were many times when the doctor would approve of my movements and tracking during my visit, only to be told in the app my teeth were not on schedule and needed additional days of wear. The doctor confirmed there will be airspaces when you first change trays for your teeth, yet I would be immediately told in the app (many from whom I have never met before in person) the airspaces were there because I was not wearing them long enough. It was great to use for quick questions since I would get a response within 24 hours, but the conflicting responses made me stop using it after around my 20th tray. While I am so glad to be DONE wearing trays, I would happily go through the process again. My only regret was not starting my plan sooner. read more

I am writing this review for my mom, Jill who just finished orthodontic treatment with Impress (formerly known as Uniform Teeth). My treatment progressed exactly as discussed at my initial visit and 6 months later, my lower spaces are closed and teeth are straight! Dr. Aggie and her assistant Temune were always professional, cheerful and delivered promised results. Their attention to detail was obvious and they even repaired a small chip in my front tooth at no additional cost! I found the aligners comfortable to wear and negligible discomfort. We started with them in 2019 when they were Unifrom Teeth. Was promised 18 months treatment. This was for my daughter. She fot Covid on the last leg of trays in 2021 and could not wear the last two that were left before the appointment next month. Called the office, was told just to wear the last tray that fits since they would see her shortly anyway. Went to the apoointment and was told that because of incompliance they will have to treat us an a new patient and charge additional $2K! Never mind that we were at this point with them for 21 months, the treatment was not working and they were proposing another 6 months after additional payment. The whole experience was not stellar and the thought of paying more was just a scam. It all started fine: we had the same doctor who was great and we saw her 2-3 times, after that every visit, we had a new orthodontist, who would propose a completely new plan. They kept losing x-rays, photos of the "progress", the doctor would have no clue what the previous doctors was doing, etc. I just wanted them to finish the treatment and be done with it but they would not wave the new charge even though nobody mentioned it before when we had the same situation with the last trays not fitting close to the end. So far, the teeth look the same and we are out of close to $5K in charged. Don't recommend them at all. read more
