Celebrating a birthday with family , all five of us got something different. My striped sea bass special was tasty but not very filling. The dish was mostly vegetable with a small portion of fish and a little rice. My wife loved her seafood medley special . She knows good food and said we could return another time. I just got the wrong item. The server, a local, was terrific. Attentive, efficient and friendly. The dining area is small . The hard surface ceiling makes for a noisy room and was difficult to converse in a normal talking voice. read more

I'm glad I made reservations in advance for dinner here Thursday night. We got 5 PM reservations with our 2 year old and were worries about it being kid friendly, but they had a kids menu and loads of other kids were there. The interior looks like a former church with rich hardwoods and stained glass. The cocktails we ordered were underwhelming. One was essentially a tequila soda and another was lemonade with blueberry vodka.. Service was decent and fast. For appetizers, lobster potstickers should have been called shu mai. They weren't potstickers at all but they were good. We also got Carmen's amazeballz, which was arancini stuffed with prosciutto. They were okay but fell apart on fork impact. The entrees were the best. My husband ordered the Seafood Atlantis, which had a lobster tail that was grilled perfectly. I ordered Pete's favorite halibut, served with grilled figs, a delicious fruit salsa, coconut rice, carrot puree, and haricot verts. This was easily the best dinner I've had on the Cape to date. If it weren't for the disappointing cocktails and appetizers, this place would have earned 5 stars. read more

Sitting at the bar last night after a decent meal, we witnessed one of the patrons express to the then male bartender that his service lacked some attention. Was not a big deal, until the bartender, completely unprovoked and unthreatened, leaned over the bar, got in the patrons face and said "do you want to hit me" The drama that ensued thereafter was unfortunate and disappointing to say the least. It was very unprofessional of the bartender to escalate from a patron feeling offended to a dramatic event, with the bartender yelling "F@#%" in the kitchen so loud that the entire restaurant could hear him. UNPROFESSIONAL! We spend increasingly higher prices to go out less frequently and expect the those in charge to act courteous and respectful. What happened to the client is always right? I would have expected a simple apology from the bartender or perhaps a "we will do better for you next time" read more

What's not to like? Chill place off the madness of Main St with great food, drinks and service. The dining area seems a bit lacking in charm but the bar area makes up for it. The food here is phenomenal. I got the the Cape Fish-Wich which was lightly fried native sole on a toasted kaiser roll with melted Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing. Had dinner last night, a lovely evening; highly recommend it. We all had difficulty choosing from the menu items; they all looked good. Food was delicious; we had the bouillabaisse, seafood arrabbiata special, a chicken and shrimp scampi special, and the halibut Savannah special. The cervice in tomatillo and cilantro sauce app was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient, and the wine list was reasonably priced. If you are calling for a reservation, call sooner than later, at least in season. We called about 3 or 4 weeks before, they had limited time slots available. read more

On a recent visit to the Cape, my friend found out I liked New England Clam Chowder and said she knew just the place to take me. Her family has deemed this place to have the best chowder on the Cape. It's the only one I got to try, but by the sample size of one, I'd say she just might be right. I was sad when I got to the bottom of the bowl. We also shared the Caesar salad and an order of sweet potato fries. Both were also very good as was the service. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. read more

Seriously the best meal we had in cape cod!! Everything from the service to the food exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend the Moules Na Cataplanaand Mussels Isabella! ( pro tip: A couple dining next to us said when they have leftover soup from their mussels, they bring it home and eat It with linguini!) Their lobster rolls and fried calamari were also great! I just so resent any restaurant that places their white linen tablecloths under glass. I mean seriously, what is the point of that from the diner's standpoint? Such a cheap way to pretend that you are a "white table cloth" restaurant, when in fact the diner is eating on glass, the most unwelcoming dining surface in use. except for possibly stainless steel. read more

This restaurant is wonderful! Visited at the last minute one weekend night and lucked out into a bar seat. The food is delicious - go with the lobster for a treat or really anything on the menu. I was thrilled with everything I tried. The bar seats weren't super comfortable but the atmosphere is so cute it made up for that. Parking was tough, as many people have said. But I was able to walk right in and get a table for 5 people with absolutely no wait (other than the wait it took for me to realize I'd walked in the wrong door and there was no host there!). Everyone LOVED their food. The kids' pasta was basic - not a huge portion, but my son was happy. I split a sandwich (Kind Turkey Sandwich) and salad (a special - Mexicali Caesar) with my mom and we both LOVED both meals. My husband and dad thoroughly enjoyed theirs, too. Husband got the chicken salad special on a croissant and my dad got the Peanut Noodle Salad, which looked great. We basically all cleaned our plates, except our shared salad, because it was huge. The atmosphere is great for a family, friends, date night - pretty much anything. I would definitely come back - they have so many dishes that sounded good! read more

As I voiced to the "Impudent Hostess" on the way out (from a self curtailed dinner) ... "Meh". Bland food (salt is not a spice esp. for calamari). Mussel meats weren't much bigger than lima beans and many were empty (no the meats were not in the broth, though broth was delicious). Not even close to what Kristen M's picture shows in her review (that's what we had last year at the bar, they were amazing). I guess in hindsight we should have just sent the food back, but we already decided to just finish our drinks and go somewhere else for dinner. Did feel ripped off, to be honest, regarding the mussels in particular. There just weren't many smiles from the staff. As we left, not even a thank you or questioning as to why we were leaving before ordering dinner. This just further emphasized that we made the right choice in leaving. Really odd - 180 degree diff experience compared to dining there just a few days, and years, before (5 star experiences, esp. with the bartenders and a really sweet and professional server who said she has been there for many of the 50 years it's been in business - she's wonderful). Totally get that this has been a well-respected place in the area, and before this visit we also recommended it to everyone, but there are places where your patronage, and their service, is valued. Even if it might have been an "off" night, the way things were not handled left me questioning where we should spend our money and whether I would "risk" an experience like this again. Not hard to find other places in the area, or drive a bit further and also not have to deal with difficult parking situations. Read so many great reviews that I had very high expectations - considering you had to call to make a res a month in advance. I was extremely disappointed with the food - 3 of 4 dishes were drenched in sauce. We ordered Halibut and Swordfish and couldn't even taste the main dish - such strong, creamy sauce with tons of flavor. Sides - a potato patty - with tons of strong flavors completely taking away from the fish. Veggies soaked in sauce. Extremely heavy and un-appetizing. Ambiance was just okay, nothing fancy in my opinion, dark, bar in your face, tables on top of one another. read more

I really dislike doing this, but I rate based on my experience. Two stars deducted from my previous review for behavior on the part of the rude, impatient, condescending lunch hostess on 9/7/20. Sign outside the door says "call (508) 945-3545" for pick up. I call from their parking lot, hostess answers and says you have to order online (huh?). I go inside and ask for a couple of oyster poboy sandwiches, (as pictured on this restaurant's Yelp photos and profile). Hostess says they don't serve them. (If you search "oyster po boy" on Yelp, this restaurant comes up as the first non-sponsored result!). She goes on and bad mouths Yelp for inaccuracies. I show her the photo from Yelp and am told it's a mistake ... someone must have stuck a photo in it, they've never offered oyster sandwiches. So, I guess someone took the time and trouble to slip in a fake photo of an oyster poboy just to mess with the restaurant? C'mon! read more

We took a day trip to Dennis to go antiquing and then to Chatham for lunch and some shopping. My husband chose the Impudent Oyster based on a friend's recommendation. Easy access and parking; no wait for a table. Service was prompt and friendly (thank you Linda!) I started with a Cold Toddy cocktail and ordered the Vermont Butternut soup. The best!!! To top it off, the restaurant shares the recipe!!! My husband went with the clam chowder (creamy) which was also very tasty. For entrees he had the Fish and Chips (regular fries) and I choose the Nantucket Scallop sandwich with truffle fries. Both plates were plentiful and we couldn't finish (though we made a valiant try!) The lunch menu does differ from the dinner menu. The restaurant itself isn't that large - in season I imagine there would be a wait for a table. The bar looked cozy and inviting. On our last night, we met with friends from Dennis. After passing around a few suggestions, the Impudent Oyster seemed the best option; and a very short walk from our Inn. I called early afternoon looking for a table at 6:00, it's winter, no problem. Problem, no tables except for 5:00 pm. Wow. We took it. Get there at 5:00 pm and the place was indeed mobbed. We get seated and about 5 minutes later our friends arrive. Beverages ordered, a couple of Riesling wines and two IPA's. We then had time to take the surroundings. We were seated on a half flight above the tavern. The interior presented a mix of Old Tavern, a Church gone by, and a tiny slice of Swiss Chalet. The four of us decided to forego appetizers and dive right into a main course. After all, personally my appetite wasn't in the mood for the Early Bird Senior Dining Hour. Three of the four ordered the Impudent Pho Bouillabaisse and I had Sirloin Tips and Shrimp over a bed of rice and a teriyaki sauce heavily laden with salt. The tips & shrimp delicious, but the Bouillabaisse was the way to go, amply loaded with a variety of treats from the sea. We finish off the evening with a short walk back to our Inn by the fireplace with a bottle of Red and a bottle of home-brew from a friend back home. read more

My family stopped in for lunch today. We were visiting Chatham for the first time and excited for a little get away. Our family of 2 adults and 3 kids were never offered a childrens menu. They do have one so be sure to ask. From the moment we met our server she was unfriendly and not at all accommodating. My son ordered the salmon which comes with veggies and rice. He wanted fries instead of veggies. The server did the swap for us but was so cold about it. I had the fish tacos. They come deconstructed but that is not on the menu. Food was ok. Atmosphere fine. Service terrible. Our day trip was wonderful except for lunch. So much going on in the world right now. When I am at a restaurant I want to be treated kindly.
