Review #130 - 2020 I was out of ideas on what to feed the kids so I decided to take them over to this In-N-Out since it's the easiest thing for me. My 11-year old niece doesn't eat meat, but she loves the fries at In-N-Out so I always order her and my 4-year old daughter two orders of fries and let them share. If that's not enough for them, then I let them split mine as well. The line was super long, like wrapped around the building and spilling into the streets long when we showed up on Wednesday night, July 8th, at around 10 PM. The kids were saying that it looked like it would be a very long wait, but I was too lazy to drive anywhere else so we decided to wait. It actually took less than 20 minutes from when we showed up to when we got our food. Honestly, that's not a long wait at all, since I've waited longer at other places, without a line. As much as people rave about In-n-Out, I tend to want to raise my nose to the idea of a chain burger joint getting so much hype. How dare they say it's "the best ever". Who are they? Floyd Mayweather fans? Can a chain burger really have so much buzz that the newspaper writes an article about the new location? Lines as long as launch day at the Apple Store? In short. Yes. I went through the drive-thru at the new Alameda location and the line was 20 cars deep. But they are so organized that our order was taken at the beginning of the parking lot, we paid about 5 cars after that, and then had our order reviewed and handed to us within 6 minutes. I must say the process is very proficient. I was very impressed. The only negative is I don't like the fries. But the burgers at the Alameda location were excellent. I wasn't a huge fan when I lived in Pacifica and went to the one in Daly City, but this location I enjoyed. The service and taste of the burger are top notch. As far as price and quality it's worth it. So maybe In-n-Out really does deserve all the hype. read more

Apparently a fellow yelper was concerned for my safety since a fight broke out over the timeliness of the food order by a few customers and employees. I was nowhere close to Alameda Landing. However, my husband and I decided to wait for the dust to settle before stepping into this business. Parking was somewhat tricky getting in and out of In-n-Out Burger...no pun intended here. Since my husband is disabled and has a handicap placard, we had to maneuver around the oranges cones to find a spot in front of the business to park our car. Ambiance: Straight from the front entrance is the order counter. Restrooms are to the right and seating area is to the left. There's outdoor seating, too. Long line of vehicles at the drive through. Beverage counter and paper necessities, lids, straws slightly to the left from the order and pick up counter. Display case has the usual memorabilia items. It's casual, fast food dining. Crowded and noisy, which is typical at the majority of fast food burger joints. It can get a little hectic and chaotic, but that is to be expected. Cleanliness: Grade B. Employees/staff: Plenty around to assist customers in all areas - parking, drive through, order counter, pick up counter, dining area. Eats/beverages: Burgers, fries, cold beverages (sodas, lemonade, iced tea) milkshakes, milk, coffee. Three different meal combos - a double double burger ($7.00), a cheeseburger ($5.85) and a hamburger ($5.55) - which includes French fries and a medium drink. The burger and French fries are way better than McD's (4 stars). Husband wasn't totally impressed with his meal. He said it was okay (3 stars). Average rating is 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 stars. Which do I like better - The Habit Burger Grill or In-N-Out Burger? It's somewhat difficult to say. Comparing the two, I have to give the edge to Habit Burger Grill on the account they are more organized in customer service and I prefer the pager system notification when the order is ready for pick up to either dine in or take out. THE BEST IN-N-OUT EXPERIENCE EVER! I like to order a #2 w/ regular onions AND grilled onions, w/ a toasty bun. I like to add pepper to my ketchup and also eat my burger w/ chillies. Came here with my cousin around 11pm on a Friday, and it wasn't as busy as we'd expected. Our cashier Benjamin/Paulo(?) had the best customer service! He was really friendly and even personally delivered our order to our table. Not to mention I had the most perfectly made burger in my life! When we were leaving and headed to the door, we saw a reflection of Benjamin/Paulo running to the door in an attempt to open it for us, although we had just opened it. (Good try though! Yet AGAIN another 5 star experience! During dinner time, I got in line at 6:59pm, ordered by 7:01pm and received my food by 7:10pm. The wait was very reasonable considering my order was kind of special. My order consisted of a double-double animal style, buns extra toasted, an order of fries and a strawberry shake. Everything was received / tasted as expected. 2 things that makes this an above and beyond experience: First off, there was TONS of parking! I drove into the lot and grabbed a far spot. To my surprise, I saw half a dozen spots much closer to the door. Secondly (and more impressively), my cashier, Benjamin, even apologized for making me wait and explained the line was due to the lunch rush! This is my favorite In n Out out of all of the ones I've been to in northern and Southern California. The drive-thru, even when short, some times takes awhile so I generally hop out and order inside and take it to go. I'd advise you to save gas and do the same. I came when they first opened and were training new employees. Everyone seemed happy to be there and extremely polite and on top of things. Whenever I go in, the line moves quickly and my order is usually ready within 10 minutes. My standard is the #2 (cheeseburger) with grilled onions, fries well done, and pink lemonade. The fries well done is always a toss up. Some times they come out burnt more than the crispy well done I wanted. I went inside to order 2 take-out meals only to get home and find out both orders were all wrong. I bring both orders back only to get laughed at. After I blew up at them for laughing at me it was wrong the second time they gave my order to me. So they took it back and redid it again for the 3rd time only to get that order wrong! I asked to speak to a manager and I was told there was no manager on site tonight. Then I asked for some type of compensation and I was told I can have a free milkshake. As there aren't many In-N-Out Burger locations in SF (I think there's only one in North Beach) I tend to stop by this location while passing through Alameda. I've probably been here more than 2 dozen times, so I've had a good opportunity to experience the food and service here. The short review would be that quality and service both are hit or miss. I've rarely found both to be consistently good at the same time. When the quality is good, there will be some lapse in service and vice versa. My standard order is 2 cheeseburgers ($2.65) animal style to-go. It's simple and straightforward with no complications. You would think that it would be easy to take and deliver this but No. I've experienced situations where the person taking my order has forgotten the to-go and I end up getting it in dine-in form so now I specially keep an eye on that. I've gotten burgers that have been placed in soiled paper bags. Hell, they've even given me completely wrong orders, only to have them yanked from my hands and then provided the correct order with not so much of an apology. Service goes downhill when they get busy. It is very clear that they can manage a certain throughput and when that threshold is exceeded service really dives. Truthfully the burgers are more consistent in quality than the service. Once in a while you know that they have been heartlessly put together or that they are falling apart, but most times they are your standard dependable In-N-Out quality. Honestly this is what keeps getting me to come back. I wish there were a couple of more locations of In-N-Out inside the city. It might not be your grass-fed, gluten-free, artisan fare the bay area knows all too well, but we are here for a good time/ not a long time. You can't order a bad thing from In-N-Out. Although the menu is simple, anyone can put their own spin on their order. I usually go for a 3x3 protein style with grilled onions and chopped peppers on my burger. I get a couple of lemons to put on my fries with black pepper (read:in-n-out hacks), and (because i've come this far - might as well do it big) a strawberry shake. Not only that, but it is open late (passed 10pm when most other bay area restaurants go to sleep). Having lived in LA, I got really used to having in-N-Out close at any given moment. When I moved back to the Bay Area however, this was not the case. The Alameda location saved the day because prior to this location, I would have to drive all the way out to the Hegenberger location to satisfy my craving. Good location. Been living in Oakland for two years, which I'm originally from LA. This location never gets my order wrong. The ladies are always nice. I frown upon the fact that In & Out refuses to hire people with piercings, or tattoos. People should be allowed to have tattoos and be not discriminated against. Piercings can always be taken out for a shift. This company discriminates on people who look edgier, which I find very disturbing. I might stop eating here just because of those reason. Their Cheeseburger and Fries will always satisfy my hunger. The drive-thru line can get long sometimes, but it moves fairly quickly. It's also in a plaza shared with Chase Bank/gas station so there's plenty of parking if you end up dining in/in your car. I have never had an order messed up here and my BF and I definitely customize our burgers a ton. They're always accommodating and make sure you get all your extra fix-ins before driving off. Uh...this is a no brainer. In-N-Out = 5 stars, they go hand in hand. I can't say this rating is specific to this location because ALL In-N-Out joints are literally the best burger joints in the entire world of Sam. But I will give it to this location since I go here most often. My favorite thing about In-N-Outs are the fact that they SPECIALIZE in mastering their burgers. They don't have a fancy 50 item menu, you just get the best fast food burger there is out there. ALTHOUGH the menu does not change, you can still customize your burger the way you like it. I toast my buns, grill my onions, and add banana pepper in my burger. And just when you thought it couldn't get better, you can also as for packets of their special sauce to take home. I wouldnt recommend saving it for too long, but I've had some extras that I used the sauce to dip in, with like chicken or something LOL. Don't judge me.
