First time having Indian food in WA coming from New York. I'm really starting to be disappointed.. the reviews were so good I'm really thinking that the expectations for Washington food is just too simple. The food yes affordable but disgusting. The chicken tikka was hard and just not it. The texture is gross and I will never come back again. The tandoori combo was nasty looking the only thing good was the tomato sauce which taste like vodka sauce from the jar and the crab. The graphic naan which is the easiest thing to make and you can't get this wrong literally! However, India bistro tells you otherwise! This naan is by far the worst naan I had in my life. It doesn't have taste even though it looks so good. Would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. We came here last week for takeout. I called it in and the guy on the phone was so patient and nice. I ordered one dish and I ask if it comes with rice, he says yes. Then I order another dish and I ask if it comes with rice, he laughs and says of course! Haha I wasn't sure but he was so nice! We get our food and it's 3 bags! We ordered 2 entrees and 2 appetizers. It all came to $55! Y'all, this was soooo much food! They gave us a whole carry out container (large one) just for the rice! We take it home and it's just AMAZING! The best spread everrr and just a ridiculous amount of food for 2 people. We ordered baba ghannoj thats like a dip made of eggplant and comes with naan, super good! The mixed appetizer was large and yummy. Seafood trio is loaded with seafood and the Tandoori combo was just delish. My partner and I have wanted to eat here for a few months and decided to stop in for dinner on a Wednesday evening after Christmas. We ordered the samosa chaat as an appy and the buttered naan, chicken tikka masala (mild spice) and mattar paneer (medium spice) for our meal. The food came quickly and it was really tasty! Solid Indian food, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Take out only due to Covid restrictions, but seemed very clean and the restaurant looked nice and well kept. Food was good, not astounding, but solid. Enjoyed my butter chicken and absolutely no complaints. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Visited this place after finding it on Yelp. It is near the Whole Foods just across the street and boy, am I glad I tried this place! This restaurant has a nice yet casual vibe to it. The lighting and tables are nice and for some reason, I was surprised at how clean it was inside. This place is great for a lunch with co-workers or a dinner date with a significant other. All of their curry dishes are excellent and it is hard to go wrong here. The paneer tikka masala, mango chicken, and butter chicken were excellent selections and although are seemingly individual orders, they can easily be shared family-style. Along with my two friends, I ordered garlic naan and it was yummy! If you are not used to indian food, I would warn you to be careful about the level of spiciness. You may normally order 'Medium' spice when it comes to Thai food but may find that 'Mild' may be enough here. For example, there were only two pieces of tandoori chicken and pretty much nothing in the butter chicken but the curry. We thought that they would replenish pretty soon so we ate rice with gravy and shared two pieces of chicken (amongst four of us). 15 minutes later, we were told to take what we want from the buffet because it is shutting down. We were not told that the buffet was ending and they were not going to replenish the food. Granted, we could have asked BUT they should have told us. It felt like it was done on purpose. In fact, i feel they should be obligated to disclose that they are not going to replenish. I know they were aware the food was low because they came up to tend to the buffet. This place is a pretty decent value for weekday lunch at $8.95 in a city with shockingly few good cheap Indian buffets. The selection is pretty average, with roughly 6 curries, tandoori chicken, some rice, veggies, a salad bar, and 2 desserts. There's nothing special about the curries, but they're decent. The tandoori chicken is pretty flavorful and juicy. The real star of the show is their mango dessert, which pretty much tastes like mango lassi in mousse form. I've never had anything like this before, but it is so good. It's pretty much worth the price of admission! The rice pudding was good too. The food here is pretty average for Indian buffet food, but the mango dessert is awesome. With very few cheaper Indian buffet options nearby, it's worth a try. read more

We just love this place when we are in town. We live on a nearby island with no Indian food; my partner is British and they grew up eating Indian buffet and good curries. We've eaten here Many times over the last 15 years. The atmosphere is attractive and nice the service is excellent and the buffet is such a good deal. We always went when Mr. Singh was the cook and he always took good care of us, and made sure we ate well. He would always come out and talk to us and greet us and remembered us. We ordered Matter Paneer, Aloo Gobhi and two Naan (the two main dishes also came with a generous amount of rice). All were spectacular. I've had some bad Matter Paneer before in which there were barely any peas or paneer:( This time, I was surprised by the amount of ingredients in the dish and there's a great balance between tomato flavor and spices. Aloo Gobhi was very delicious as well and the potatoes were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The portion was great and the two of us couldn't even finish half of the food we got. Updating my review since it's been 4 years since my last. I'm happy to report that in those 4 years, India Bistro has never let me down. I live just a few blocks away from here and have been a countless number of times for dinner, takeout, and the lunch/dinner buffet. No matter how hard I try, I can't stay away from their butter chicken (extra hot, please!) and garlic naan. I've also discovered their eggplant bharta which is now my favorite vegetarian Indian dish. Regardless of the occasion, India Bistro always leaves me happy and full! We live in the neighborhood but hadn't been to India Bistro in several years, so we decided to check it out again. I've always liked the vibe of it, but they don't do indoor dining right now, only take-out. The Baingan Bartha was pretty solid, actually, and so was the Chicken Korma (my favorite). My one disappointment was the mulligatawny soup. I know it's hardly a traditional recipe (outside of India, where it's basically a British version with meat that doesn't have a standard form), despite what the menu says, but I'm fairly certain it shouldn't rely so heavily on the tomato paste/puree and shouldn't be this think. It tastes OK, but not at all what I was hoping for. Next time, I'd just go for a more explicitly lentil-based dish. read more

First time eating at this beautiful little Indian restaurant in Roosevelt. The service is very, very good, everyone is very attentive to your needs without fawning. Two vegetarians eating with two meat eaters can sometimes be difficult, unless you come to Indian, where the veggie choices are as good or even better than the meat ones. We started with samosas, cooked perfectly and not a bit greasy. The garlic naan was outstanding, as was the Mattar Paner, creamy and rich curry sauce, with succulent cheese cubes and peas that pop in your mouth. We also had the Aloo Chhole, chickpeas and potatoes with another outstanding sauce. Washing it down with a light, refreshing Taj Mahal, it was a wonderful, reasonably priced meal. Not sure people think the same as me but Indian food for Sunday brunch is a great option! Went here last Sunday and was totally surprised that they have parking underneath the restaurant and an elevator right up to their front door, we didn't get wet from the rain. Got the butter chicken and India curry chicken spice level 3 but flavor and aroma level 8! We also got chicken samosas and two garlic basil Nann (fair warning Nann is big like a flat bread).
