Been trying to find a good Indian take-out restaurant for a little while. I took a chance on this place and I'm glad I did. The food was fresh and delicious; my family loved eveything we ordered. We will def order from here again. I didn't take pics but we had samosas, naan, shrimp curry, lamb vindaloo, and butter chicken - all delish! There are tables but the location is small and is more of a take-out spot than a dine-in. read more

I've been there before and enjoyed myself. I enjoyed the chicken saagwala and mango lassi. That's the reason we returned the second time. But the second time we had some unexpected guests ... Maybe I judged this place a little to harshly. I ordered the tikka masala dinner, everything that came with it was really good. The nan was fresh, the samosas were a little dry but meh. I loved the different dipping sauces especially the Rita and the mango chutney. The desert it came with could've been a little bit more sweet, but that was about it. Brooklyn has a couple of very good choices when it comes to Indian food. Fortunately, I guess, I like different things at each. India House's atmosphere is interesting, and the service was very friendly. (I will say that they seem to rush things a bit with regard to the check and turning the tables. It was a little awkward.) I've had several dishes, both in and for takeout, and I've found everything to be tasty. (Tandoori shrimp, soup and lamb sagg were all good, and the iced tea was very nice.) I LOVE an Indian restaurant that has veggie tikka masala on the menu. It's such a basic idea, but somehow gets lost in translation when I try to ask for it at a restaurant where it's not on the menu. It comes with a simple biryani included in the price. The naan is great, the tikka masala sauce is perfect. Creamy, buttery, and a tad sweet, as decadent as one could want. To-go/delivery orders also come with the different chutneys and sauces, and a nice little serving of rice pudding. I LOVE this place. read more

I tried them on a whim off seamless when I moved to my new neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised at how good the vegetable biryani, chicken tikka and garlic naan was. Went in for samosa chat based on previous reviews. I was disappointed at the fact that the samosa chat was super cold. It is understandable that the chickpeas added to the chat are sometimes cold, but it does not mean the entire samosa chat should taste like it was just taken out the refrigerator. I went back in right away and the owner offered to microwave the samosa chat for me, but it definitely did ruin my taste. I have had much better samosa chat in other restaurants! We were staying in the neighborhood and stopped in on our last night in Brooklyn. The space is cozy and clean and the staff made us feel right at home the moment we stepped in. We took a seat near the window and enjoyed watching the deliverymen buzz back and forth on their mopeds - this place does a brisk takeout service. We started off with meat samosas and banana fritters. The samosas in particular were delicious - some of the best I've had, in fact. For entrees, I chose the chicken Tikka and my husband had the chicken Handi (curry with vegetables). The naan was huge and pillowy and fantastic with the curry. Love India House. I have ordered delivery from here many times and they always get it right. The Samosa Chat appetizer is incredible. It is one of the tastiest things you will ever eat. It is a combo of Samosa, Chutney and Chick Peas. 5 out of 5. I've had to Korma(Lamb or Beef), the Curry and the Rogan Josh. All three have been fantastic. The Saag Paneer is stuff of legend as is the Saag Aloo. I've also had the Chana Saag and the Bharta and they have not let me down. Amazing! The service is exceptional, and consistently friendly. I always find some manner of freebie every time I order, usually extra papadam since I mentioned how much I enjoy it to the staff. Biggest mark in their favor and the reason I had to give them 5 stars is that their Chicken Tikka is never dry. Chicken Tikka is my wife's go to for indian food, but it's usually overcooked and a touch dry everywhere we go, but they always make the Chicken Tikka fresh for every order at India House, so while it takes about an extra 10-15 minutes longer compared to other nearby Indian restaurants (which they always remind me of when I order it) it is worth the wait. Tikka Masala is my default and it was flavorful and moist. Vindaloo is truly spicy, and if you request extra spicy, they defnitely will put a boot in it. The Jalfreezi is full of fresh, tasty vegetables. The garlic and onion nan is very flavorful. I also enjoyed the Potato Paratha. Their Kashmiri Pulao (saffron rice with cashews, raisins & fruits) is so sweet, I actually order it as my dessert. read more

Great prices, great service, friendly staff, clean establishment! We stopped by after seeing all the glowing reviews here on help and were NOT disappointed! Upon entering, the lighting was comfortable and soothing. It was a bit too dim for reading the very small food descriptions printed in red on the menu, but I managed.. :). The tables were laid out w/linen napkins artfully tucked inside stemmed water glasses. (Actually wine glasses, but why not? The "look" was achieved!) Everything we ordered was great: Lamb shank. - falling off the bone moist and tender, perfectly seasoned and large for only $15!; Chicken Malai - creamy, subtle coconut flavor and seasonings with moist, tender chunks of chicken breast. (Chicken breasts can be very dry - even cooked in a sauce if you don't know what you're doing). Most places I've ordered this, the chicken was dry and relied on the sauce for flavor).. The appetizers of Samosa Chat and Ka-Chori was a fantastic blend of hot/cold, sour/sweet (chutneys) and savory. The fine grained basmati rice was cooked to perfection, blended with fresh peas and garnished w/small bits of carmelized onion. The iced tea had a natural, subtle sweetness and the garlic nan arrived as a fragrant cloud, hot, moist and delicious. I gave a fifth star because they deliver to our location!! I can give this three stars and only three because I didn't walk into the place, I had them deliver. What I'll say about their delivery service is that they're prompt, friendly and courteous! Now onto the delicious stuff.....we ordered Chana Puri to start with some garlic naan and mango chutney. All of which were absolutely amazing! A bountiful culinary experience of the likes of which I was not expecting. Beautiful. To follow for the main course we had lamb dildar, and the ever popular chicken tikka masala. Both of which came with jasmine rice that was seasoned for Jesus! Amazing. Simply amazing. For some random take out food at a VERY extremely spontaneous moment,or even a calm one for that matter, it was very good. The texture of the chicken was just right (which is noteworthy for those whose love moist chicken), and the seasonings weren't overpoweringly spicy, which tends to be my experience of lots of Indian places, and the naan......nom nom! Then finally....the mango lassi.....ughhh! Delicious, and everything the doctor ordered after a meal like that! So very entertaining to the tastebuds (and thereby, the soul, in my case....lol).
