Best Indian food I have ever had! The selection is great, and the food is incredible. The lunch buffet is the way to go, but I have never eaten dinner at this restaurant. The buffet differs slightly each day which means you get to try something different every time you visit. I really don't agree with the other reviews that seem to think this place is horrible. I think it's actually pretty good Indian food. I've never been for the buffet - just standard dinner service several times and have never been disappointed. It is owned by the same people who own Shalimar in Broad Ripple. I'd recommend the Chicken Makhani (chicken in a red sauce with cashews) and their samosas are quite good too. We tend to order Malai Kofta at most Indian restaurants that we go to, and I really don't like the sauce in their version. But everything else on the menu has been great. I've never understood why many Indian restaurants (this one included) charge you if you want more rice. Nevertheless this place is worth a visit if you are on the West side and craving Indian. read more

This was my first experience with Indian cuisine, and this place didn't impress me. The service was poor. There were a few different waiters, no one of whom were friendly or helpful. The waiter that sat us down didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink. He just filled our water glasses, set the pitcher on our table, and walked away. Horrible !!! Looking at good reviews I went there. But I think most of the good reviews are non Indians who may not not how authentic indian food tastes like.. I am Indian and in I have ate Indian food in many India restaurants arond the globe and 6-7 states in US. But never had such a horrible indian food in any of the restaurants.. I went there with lot of hopes... it has huge buffet .. But I tried 1st gravy and realised the quality of the meal. No taste .. no flavour .. i don't really have words to describe how bad food was.... I would only good thig was watermelon , tomato and cucumber ... thank god atleast that was good... :D Service was also pathetic. I wrote a review on this place on my old fb account.. But, anyway update on my thoughts.. The food is delicious, don't get me wrong! Myself & family usually dine here during lunch hours for the buffet. But, any time we go there, there's always new faces.. Men particularly. But, we went recently and they must be short of staff because it's only a lady that works there.. She's been there for a while and boy, let me tell you. When I say this chick has no facial expressions, she doesn't! Doesn't smile, always straight face-like.. She doesn't greet you or say bye, have a nice day.. Nothing! When we first get there,, first thing is "What kind of drink you want?" "You want regular naan or garlic?" I mean girl, it'll be alright lol.. SMILE.. This recent time I was there one thing I didn't like though was that the manager and he's been there for a long time, maybe about 20 years? Is he came to our table while we were still talking not ready to go yet.. And picks up the remaining silverware and bread basket and asked if we were done with our drinks, which we weren't because I was getting ready to get dessert! He got our silverware which I had to grab a spoon from a different table lol (sorry) Aren't you supposed to clean AFTER the customers leave and not DURING the customers are seated and still eating? Anyway, I'm giving it 2 stars because like I mentioned the food is great but, the workers need to work on their customer service skills and every day basic manners. read more

Great affordable buffet, but the plates and silverware are often dirty.

An advice before you read this. Go to this place only for the buffet. I've had the chance to sample both their buffet and order food. Let me first get the latter out of the way first. It is underwhelming and I'd prefer to cook myself rather than spend $$ to eat that fare here (I'm a pretty decent cook myself). I've heard similar experiences from others as well so I'll rather find some other place for order food. Now for the buffet. It is pretty good for the price you pay. The selections are good and even vegetarians can have an excellent evening out here. Pretty much all of their curries taste different, which I consider is an achievement for a buffet. Though it will fill you up pretty quickly because as like other buffets they use a lot of cream, what what the heck buffet are "zero calories" :) Navratan korma is a must here!! They carry a decent goat curry which somehow a lot Indian restaurants mess up badly. Theirs is quite good and I'd recommend it. Nice desert selections. I've not seen so many Indian sweets at Indian buffet of this price range. Would have given 4 star if their order food was as good as their buffet food. I love to go here for lunch. I've not traveled to India (yet) so I can't speak to the authenticity of the food. But I do see diners who appear to be of Indian descent, which is a positive sign. The lunch buffet is huge, and nearly everyone can find something they enjoy. My favorites are the chicken tikka masala, mushroom saag, and saag paneer. We have patronized this restaurant for years and it is as good now as when we started. The food is always fresh and prepared to order. The House Special Biryani, the Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Mushroom Saag, are always great choices. The weekend buffets have a lot of variety. The owner and staff are friendly, accommodating and have always made us welcome. The restaurant has been redecorated and updated. It is very clean and comfortable. Good, somewhat spicy, filling, quick Indian food. We love coming here on weekends for the buffet (the tikka masala and the saag paneer will cure what ails you, whether it be a hangover or a cold). Lots of good veggie stuff, especially the potatoes and the chickpea curry. It's a little different each time we go, but if they have the deep-fried potatoes dipped in chickpea flour--yum! I lived on the west side for 15 years and thru these years, it NEVER fails the men/waiters at this place would start to ask me; "Where are you from?" "Do you have punjabi friends?" It's uncalled for and unprofessional. And there was new people in there working constantly, at least the often times I've been there. I could never enjoy my lunch without getting "hit on" or talked to. And they will stand there at my table expecting to hold a conversation. I don't appreciate that at all. And I was usually with my mom and sometimes now that I have a daughter. The reason why we came here is because of the convenient location. We were usually there for the lunch buffet, the food was good. Now that I've moved closer to Avon recently, I rather go to the Delhi place or Haveli. The food is just as good if not then, better. The Indian Palace needs to hire men that are more professional and not woman hungry. And for that reason I probably won't return for a sit down/ dine in at this location. Edit... This is the place I first tried Indian food 7 years ago and it is where I compare all of my other Indian experiences. Their lunch buffet is huge including a desert buffet. They even have a Sunday night dinner buffet which is a great end to the weekend. I always get their Chicken Tikka Masala and the Saag Paneer which are staples for me but I also try some of their other dishes as well but always go back to CTM & SP. The food is okay, although there is less variety on the buffet than there used to be. The service is awful! I have been sitting here for twenty minutes waiting for my check. The staff never brought us drink refills, never came back to the table after we were seated and given our initial drink order. I've been there many a times for the buffet, but this happened it with me for the first time. Me and my wife went on Sunday evening to get some chaat. The waiter was unable to understand a single word of English. We asked him about samosa chaat or simple chaat and he was constantly pointing us towards the buffet. I told him, we don't need the buffet. And then he just walked away. Me and my wife, got up and returned without eating. The salt shakers and the condiment containers are dirty. Those need to be cleaned at a minimum, at the end of every shift. If it were my restaurant, I would be sure to have enough containers to serve the condiments to each customer in a clean container. Came in on a Tuesday evening on my way to Chicago, was surprised at the remoteness of the location and then furthermore surprised by the crowd inside. I had the chicken vindaloo - a non traditional dish but very spicy and not too oily. The bhindi (okra) was average. Rice was good. I am kicking myself for not going for the biriyani.
