This review is for take-out only I recently saw that Indian Express delivers to Washington Heights without delivery fee as long as you have minimum of 15 which is awesome. So far I have ordered twice and it is so much food! First time I ordered the Chicken Tikki Masala Special and Mango Chutney. Oddly I can't believe I'm going to say this but these items were kind too sweet for me. Did not enjoy the chutney but will be ordering tiki masala again Second time Lamb vindaloo special and rice pudding. I decided I wanted more spice and kick since the first item was really sweet and left me craving the opposite. This dish was pretty spicy but yummy! The Specials come with nan, side of you choice, rice, and the main item. It is a lot of food so you'll probably be full. This place may not be the best curry you ever had but for take out this place is awesome and satisfies your craving! read more

The fact that these guys deliver to me north of 181st street is amazing. Five stars for that alone. Their food is flavorful and delicious. Far better than the Indian I have literally around the corner. Whenever I call they know exactly who I am and always get treated well. I ordered from this place two to three times now, both the food and delivery service was on point most of the time. The naan bread I ordered was burnt on one side (to the point where you give up trying to eat it) but other than that, has been exceptional all other times. The delivery is one of the fastest from places I've ordered in the area. Last time I ordered, I had to call the restaurant and communication was difficult as the gentleman could not understand any English. Usually, I don't mind as long as it's enough to answer basic questions/ share super basic information, but this actually got in the way of me knowing anything about the order ( like where it was). If I had suggestion, it would only be to make sure whoever is answering the phone is able to somewhat communicate with customers about their orders. A samosa that came with my meal was drenched in grease, good thing it was free. Other than that, the flavors and textures have been great. Also, packaging is efficient to keep the naan warm in route. Pros: Fastest delivery ever, food is decent and satisfies the Indian food cravings, includes utensils and naan well packed. I just ordered delivery from here yesterday and I got the Paleek Paneer, mulligatawny soup, garlic naan and a mango lassi. First of all, the special is the BEST deal around (about 14$ for the paleek paneer, naan and appetizer)!!! Although I've had better paneer, it's a huge portion and I'm not complaining at all. The naan and mulligatawny were also really good. But the BEST in the order is the mango lassi. It is the creamiest, sweetest thing around!!! 2.5 stars. Let's call it ... the better side of "meh". Ordered chicken vindaloo and a chicken samosa. Vindaloo somehow both spicy and not very flavorful; reminded me a little of the sweet and sour sauce you get at the Chinese place (only a little though). Chicken not too dry but not great, and more of it would have been nice. Samosa filling was dry but also very flavorful, the (shell?) of the samosa was excellent. The order was prepared quickly, handed to me by a friendly man, possibly the owner/manager. Good prices. Might try again, if only to get some samosas, in which case I'll update my review. read more

If you live or work in the neighborhood you quickly realize how little variety there is available. There are good options, but I can only eat diner, Dominican or Mexican so many times before I gag. I stumbled upon this place. The Seamless reviews had me concerned because of the complaints of very long delivery times. But I had to try, because I couldn't get myself to order Mexican or a burger again. I was not disappointed. The food arrived quickly, hot and the portions of the main were decent. The appetizer was a bit on the small side for the price and the garlic naan was a bit burned but OK. I ordered their shredded chicken. It was good, but the chicken was in small cubes and not shredded. Also, the sauce was a bit too sweet, but overall I was satisfied. My only complaint is that they did not include utensils. A must for delivery. Also, most Indian places include a small side salad and some vegetable side, but here you will get exactly what you order. read more

We ordered delivery from here and were very disappointed. My boyfriend and I both got the briyani, his was lamb and mine was vegetable. The vegetable briyani was terrible - borderline inedible. There was no flavor, and the side sauces they gave didn't add much either. It lacked all of the vegetables you want in a briyani, like onions and raisins and potatoes, but instead was just yellow rice tossed with mixed vegetables. This is not what was listed on the menu, and I'm not interested in peas and corn in my briyani. The lamb briyani tasted more like beef and also lacked the flavor you hope for in an Indian restaurant. I don't have a lot of experience eating Indian food but so far the most flavorful Vindaloo I have ever had!!!! Not too salty, Spicy yummy goodness. I enjoyed every bite. The only knock that i have is that they give you very little meat. You'd think that they would serve a little more for the price but thats it. Food is tasty. However, a little disappointed in the presentation of the chicken Tikka Masala there was way too much sauce and not enough chicken. Also the menu stated there are vegetables and there were no veggie with the meal . Overall, I enjoyed the meal after removing most of the sauce . The order was correct. Ordered the chicken tikka masala special w/garlic nana & chicken samosa and aloo tikka chole. The chicken tikka was very tasty and the chicken was tender. I have had their veggie samosas, their nan, their garlic nan, their chicken vindaloo, a few different eggplant dishes, a few spinach dishes, a couple chickpea dishes, a potato dish, and their okra dish. Some okra dishes from other restaurants are big and clunky. This is well-seasoned, juicy, and cooked-down so it's the right balance between being okra and being part of the dish. You know? The potato dishes are excellent. Eggplant dishes are my favorite and they do a few kinds which have different sauces, each totally on point. I have shared this food among friends and I/we have NEVER had a problem with any dish and everyone agrees the food is excellent, every time! I ordered the chicken Tikka Masala, the sauce is so so good, but if you can't handle spicy make sure you get mild. I wanted to try medium out, but medium taste super spicy at least to my taste buds. I'm not sure if Grubhub has a way of showing what I've ordered from them previously, but I always order the same thing: Tikka Masala, Veggie Samosa, and Cheese Naan. This evening I made a mistake and quickly pressed "Chicken Tikka" as opposed to my usual order of "Chicken Tikka Masala". I wasn't even aware of my error, and was excitedly waiting for my order to arrive when I received a phone call from Indian Express. I ordered from here because they have free delivery to Washington Heights. My expectations were low for a take out place in this part of town, but this place is great! I got the chicken tikka with a side of vegetable samosa, and an extra order of garlic naan. The food arrived promptly and was still hot, and I even got a call from the restaurant notifying me when my food was 5 minutes away. The chicken tikka was the best I've ever had; creamy, slightly sweet, and not too spicy, which was perfectly suited to my tastes. There was way more sauce than meat, so maybe this wouldn't be enough for a carnivore. The samosa was big and still crispy after being wrapped. The naan was very fluffy and not burnt. Love this place! The Indian Express Specials are AWESOME! An entree, rice, bread AND an app for 12.95 or so? Hard to beat it! I usually order Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer which are delicious and my boyfriend has ordered the Lamb Vindaloo (forewarning, quite spicy for him which I didn't think was possible) and Saag Gosht which he loves. I've lived in the Hamilton Heights/Sugar Hill section of Harlem for close to a year, and this is the first Indian restaurant i've encountered in my new neighborhood which has managed to deliver food that both tastes good and is made from quality ingredients. Other Indian restaurants in the area have tended to serve meat that is obviously fatty, and to add too much sugar to their entrees, ruining the flavor. As a result, we'd been returning to our old neighborhood for decent Indian food -- until now! Finally, we've found a good Indian restaurant which delivers! I was particularly pleased to find numerous and varied vegetarian dishes on the menu. The black bean/red kidney bean dish I ordered was delicious, and my daughter enjoyed the chicken curry, which consisted of lean slices of chicken in a flavorful sauce. It's also worth mentioning that both the man who answered the phone and the man who delivered the food were notably courteous and polite. After this experience, the Indian Express menu is one that I will definitely hold onto and order from again. read more
