This is my number one go too and the best date night spot in the Anchorage, Eagle River and Wasilla. Make the drive and enjoy this amazing Steakhouse.

I agreed and arrived promptly at 5:00. Several people were ready to enter when the 'open' sign lit up. The restaurant is small, with high industrial ceilings and dark walls. It was nicely furnished with white tablecloths and cloth napkins. The seat at the bar was fine, and the manager mentioned that there were hooks under the rail for our bags. A nice touch! We were there for appetizers and ordered a glass of wine and a rhubarb seltzer first. For food, we ordered the Parker House rolls (out of curiosity to see what a $9 roll tastes like), mac and cheese, tempura shrimp, and the whipped goat cheese and pepper jelly. The rolls arrived first, a small plate of four glistening rolls. I am a pretty good baker, so I may be critical. The rolls were warm, with a buttered top and a sprinkle of salt flakes. The flavor was okay, but I didn't enjoy the overly salted dough. I asked for more butter, but the flavor was disappointing. It seemed rancid. I didn't finish the one I tried. I imagine others might enjoy them... The mac and cheese was delicious! Arriving in a hot metal dish, with a nice bread crumb topping. The cheese was plentiful, and the warm, cheesy dish was ample! The whipped goat cheese and pepper jelly was reminiscent of my Mom's 1970's cream cheese and Pickapeppa Sauce party dish. The items that made the dish delicious were the champagne-dressed arugula and sliced tart apples. The small slices of bread spread with the goat cheese, topped with arugula and sliced apples, gave a creamy, spicy, crunchy, slightly bitter bite! The best dish was the crispy tempura shrimp. They were medium-sized shrimp with a very light, crisp batter! They were tossed in an Asian-inspired chili aioli. They arrived hot and delicious! It was a large serving for an appetizer! My only challenge that I knew that reheating them would be impossible, so we left some behind! The wine list is beautiful, and they offer a nice selection of reds and whites by the glass. I was able to taste a couple before selecting a Malbec. A bonus for my non-drinking friends was the large selection of mocktails, non-alcoholic sours and spritzers, low ABV cocktails for light drinkers, frontier sodas, and coffee drinks professionally made! I looked around the restaurant and saw beautifully cooked steaks! Rare looked rare, and medium was the exact shade of pink I prefer! I will return for a steak soon! My only amusing issue was when I went to the nicely appointed restroom, where there were four chairs across from the toilet, in a nice row. It was hard not to imagine a ghostly audience...

I'm glad that they had beer flights because I was unable to decide what kind I wanted. With some assistance from the bartender I chose 4 beers and every single one of them was wonderful. I would absolutely go back if I'm ever in Anchorage again. It does get a little bit loud and it gets very crowded so be prepared to either wait, or sit at the bar. It is open seating, you check in at the host stand and they'll give you a menu and you just find a place to sit. All in all it was a wonderful time and the food was great. I don't like fish, so for me to say that, you know it was good!

The servers seemed a little new, but the service was good and friendly. They carry Frontier brand sodas which we found to be excellent for their flavor. We got root beer and ripe raspberry soda. I ordered the Chili AK Salmon Bowl which our server confirmed is wild salmon. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. Both meals were really good. I especially liked the sauce on the salmon bowl so much so that I asked for a little more only to be charged for the extra sauce. I also noticed they include a service charge on the bill (note that this was not gratuity). They told us it was to help them get seasonal labor and to cover overhead. Maybe this is an Alaska thing, but with menu prices as high as these, why would you need to add a service charge? Pricing and nickel & diming aside, I would recommend this place.

I was hosting a professional client for dinner as well as a business meeting. From the moment we arrived, every detail radiated excellence--from the impeccable service of your servers and staff, especially our waiter Keegan to the exquisite quality of the food. It was crystal-clear that excellence was a key ingredient interwoven into everything prepared by the executive chef,Jamaal. The meal was beyond compare, especially the special touch of having anchovy with my Caesar salad -- a detail that made it even more perfect. when I ordered my Caesar salad, I mentioned to our waiter that I really enjoyed ancho fillets in my salad. He initially stated that he wasn't sure they carry a chocolate fillets, but rather include it in the dressing. Nonetheless, the waiter Keegan took the time to approach the chef and ask about my request for an ingredients I truly enjoyed. To my astonishment and delight, the anchovy fillets appeared along with my Caesar salad! Your entire staff's attention to the finer touches truly made us feel welcomed and valued, a reflection of your mastery and genuine care regarding your dining clientele. Everyone worked seamlessly to create an atmosphere that emphasized receiving special attention and high-level, VIP care as well as warmth. It was an absolute pleasure, and I am grateful for the special memories created that day. I look forward to returning soon! I would absolutely recommend Sullivan's steakhouse in downtown Anchorage to anyone who has not had the pleasure of dining there!

Service was sorely lacking, and staff weren't all that friendly at all. I don't require red carpet service, but the vibe was definitely more along the lines of "what do you want, order and leave us alone." Yikes. To keep things on the less expensive side, we mainly ordered from the happy hour menu, and thought we'd go tapas style, order a few things to share. Food was ok, but some of the flavors were a bit off, so a couple of items were sent back and we ordered something else instead. The crab fried rice was pretty tasty, I do recommend that. Even when we needed something (utensils or sauces), it took ages to get it--and this was often after the servers had failed to bring it with our food. This was just not a good visit overall. We opted to sit in the bar area hoping it would lead to decent service (that's usually our experience when sitting in the bar area), but NOPE. We used to have a Sullivan's in my city, and I was bummed when it closed; this location just made me sad. I don't know if the lackadaisical attitude is because they don't care about visitors they don't expect to see again or what, but a little friendliness goes a long way. I can deal with lackluster food or subpar service, but it's really hard to get both and leave feeling satisfied. $50 gift card wasted, but lesson learned. Next time we go to Alaska, we definitely won't eat here.
