If there's anything that you take away from this review, get the Combo Momo as an appetizer! Or entree. Or whatever you want to call it. For such a basic name as Indian-Nepali Kitchen, one can simply drive by without much thought, especially when it's located off of Aurora. But for those skeptics or naysayers, let me just say: damn, this place was good. And I'm so glad we live less than a mile away! My wife and I came in, and it was packed! The service was super friendly, and we got ourselves one of the last tables. My wife and I ordered: The Combo Momo Lamb Biryani Nepali Thali We had to wait a while to get our food, but the wait was well worth it. The combo Momo was a really good starter - the momos, all prepared differently, paired really well with sauce and was so good. The lamb biryani was exceptional! Not only did they give a ton of rice and meat, but everything was cooked well. My wife enjoyed her Nepali Thali as well, and it was like a tasting plate with so many different spices and curries. Oh it's dangerous that we're so close. But at the same time, there's so many other items we're dying to try. We're glad this place replaced the Thai restaurant that was previously here - all I'm hoping is that this place doesn't drop in quality. We'll be back! read more

Finally got to try this place and I don't know why I waited so long. Food: Really good! Garlic naan: This was excellent and not a typical or thick bread. It was so light and crispy but still soft in placest...they really baked this at high heat in a good way. A must order next time we return. Assorted Chicken Momos: When this was brought to the table, I thought why did we order potstickers? One bite and I realized immediately these were different than traditional east Asian potstickers. The dough was thin and delicate, the chicken filling was very juicy assorted vegetables and spices on them really complemented the potstickers and gave them a refreshing spin. Chicken Tikka (kebabs): I really meant to order chicken tikka *masala* which is the dish with sauce and it was my bad that I verbally ordered chicken tikka out of linguistic laziness and did not listen carefully when she recited all my orders really quickly. Very tasty with lots of onion and pepper vegetables. TLDR if you want the chicken dish with the sauce, make sure you say chicken tikka masala. Otherwise, if you drop the masala word, you will get the kebabs. Lamb Tikka (kebabs): Exactly the same as the chicken ones which I ordered by accident except for the meat. Chicken Sekuwa: I enjoyed this dish more than the chicken tikka because the chicken was cut into smaller pieces which meant more surface area for spice and flavor. It was almost like a stir fry version of the chicken tikka. I would order this again over the kebabs. Goat Curry: This is something I order at every Indian restaurant and they do it very well. If you've never had goat, just be careful because it's got a lot bones but it's worth it. We had so much food for two people that we ate leftovers for the next four days, which was the entire point of ordering this much. The menu is very extensive with a lot of variety, especially with dishes not seen at typical Indian restaurants that usually serve north Indian specialties. I most appreciate how each dish did not taste like dessert, meaning too much sugar, which I find prevalent in a lot of Indian restaurants. This alone will keep me a fan. I'm already planning out what I'm going to order the next time when we come back in a few weeks. The prices are reasonable, service is friendly. Will definitely be back very soon. read more

Ignore the grungy location on Aurora - Indian-Nepali Kitchen has some of the best Indian food I've had in Seattle. Highlights include the butter chicken (a very well-executed staple) and the momo sampler (all the momo varieties were delicious). I ordered takeout and service was excellent. I arrived at the exact time they said my order would be ready and it was indeed ready to go, well-packaged for the drive home, and piping hot. Seattle has other good Indian options: Kricket Klub and Rupee Bar come to mind as fancy, non-Aurora Indian restaurants. And Spice Waala is a good casual spot (albeit with a very limited menu). But if you want a casual spot with well-executed food and a comprehensive menu, Indian-Nepali Kitchen is hard to beat. read more

We were visiting Seattle and were craving a nice home cooked Nepalese meal and are so glad we stopped by. Everything from the mango lassi to the sekwa, and steamed momo were absolutely perfect. The flavors were out of this world!! Service was awesome and the ambiance felt just like home. We got to speak with the owner and he spent time at the table to ensure we were happy with our meal. Food was delicious, we tried the Momo Combo I had never tried them before , they were similar to Chinese potstickers only better! I really liked the Sandheko Momo. We also tried the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Chicken Curry-Nepali which we shared and they were both phenomenal . Even with sharing we still had plenty to take home for a second meal for both of us. This was our first time trying Nepali food and really enjoyed the foods we ordered, especially the momos that were prepared in a variety of ways. The potatoes and lentils were less popular with us but honestly that may be cos we didn't order the right things together. The menu was a little hard to navigate as someone unfamiliar with the cuisine though so I wish they had some more descriptions and suggestions for what combinations to order. You might not think this place is worth checking out from the exterior and location but let me tell you- don't sleep on this establishment !!! This is TOP NOTCH Indian- Nepalese food. Their selection of momo's will blow you away. Their curry is delicious. The meat is quality- that's a big one for us, we aren't a fan of real chewy meat. The rice and naan were both perfect. This place isn't very big, but I absolutely love Mexican and Korean food, and they've done a perfect job blending both. I got the BBQ burrito, and it was packed tight and super juicy. The flavor was amazing. My friend ordered the spicy pork fusion bowl, and honestly, I liked his more. The spices weren't overwhelming, so I could actually taste the rice better. Not your typical Indian restaurant - love the Nepali cuisine! Location/parking: It shares a parking lot with Crown Inn - really sketchy area of Aurora. Ambiance: Small restaurant that's a bit crowded and sticky. Cooking supplies/pantry items stacked in different places. It has the look of a restaurant that has been in business for a very long time but hasn't redecorated since it opened. Seating feels a little crowded - restaurant was packed at 7pm on Friday. Service: We ordered to-go, just had to wait a few minutes for our food. Food: The Good: Sadheko Chicken. Flavor was great - loved it. I liked the raw onion that they put in - balanced things well. They have inconsistent, complicated spice levels on their website - very mild, mild, 1-5*, then 6*& 7* labeled as Extra Hot. My husband ordered 3 and the Sadheko was much spicier than we anticipated. The So-so: Aloo Gobi - very average tasting, probably erring on the side of bland. Also 3* but was not spicy at all. But it went well with the more spiced dishes. The Meh: Lamb Sekuwa - lamb had a really strange texture - like it had marinated in lime juice for a really long time and was soft was had a grainy mushy texture. The flavor was also lacking, but I liked the little add-ons that were included in the dish and when you put it all together it was okay. The texture was just really hard to get over. Recommendation: I think the unique selling point of this restaurant is the Nepalese food. I'm going to try the momos next time - everyone in the restaurant ordered them. I'd probably get the Sadheko chicken again but try other dishes like the Thali. read more

They had me when I rounded the corner and the aromas got to me. I admit it's been quite a while since our last Indian or Himalayan meal, but this may be the best we've had. We were quite hungry so we started with lamb samosas and garlic basil naan. Each came with two tasty chutneys. The naan was hot, tender and wonderfully garlicky. The thin, crisp shell was tasty and the lamb filling amazing and large--about 2/3 cup! Mouthwatering and beautifully tender lamb in savory rice for the biryani--an old favorite beautifully executed. We met friends here for a later lunch on a Saturday, and were delighted by the food and our experience. We were surprised by the outside because it is next to a hotel. We were the only ones there for a bit, accept for the fairly frequent delivery drivers, but by the time we left around 3pm, it was filling up fast. Apparently, our late lunch was actually early for this crowd. Our friend got a vegan item and a chicken dish. They both said it was delicious. We had butter chicken and tikki masala. I went on a Saturday, mid-afternoon. There were about 5 parties seated or in-and-out during the time I waited for order. I think they had room for about 6 more groups. Almost all folks seemed to be Nepali. I order at the time of arrival and waited 20 minutes. Parking is available right next to the restaurant--same lot as the Crown Inn. Sadheko chicken: Well-marinated, tender, and flavorful. It was not immersed in a sauce. It was not a stew. Other spices were added after cooking. I would order this again. I thought it was unique. Sekuwa chicken: Comes with puffed rice, not regular rice. Also comes with fresh-cut carrots and cucumbers. Very good. Best Indian/Nepali food I've had in Seattle - and I've had a lot. Every bite was special and delicious. Rice was perfect: high quality rice lightly scented with cumin and cardamom. The Nepali Thali (with Dhal, Tarkari, Mustard Greens, Kheer, etc) was made with fresh, high quality ingredients and cooked with skill and sensitivity. Highly recommend the Tandoori Momo - perfectly cooked, well seasoned, chicken and onion dumplings. Might be the best dumplings I've ever had in decades of eating dumplings.
