What a Turnaround! Indian Summer Grill is Back and Better Than Ever! I had left a 2-star review in the past due to some disappointing experiences with previous owners, but I'm thrilled to say that Indian Summer Grill is now under new ownership--and the difference is night and day! The new owners are incredibly kind, attentive, and truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The food has also gotten a serious upgrade. Everything ordered was bursting with flavor, fresh, and clearly made with care. You can tell there's pride in what they're serving now, and it shows in every bite. If you had a less-than-great experience in the past, like I did, give them another shot--you won't regret it. Major props to the new owners at Indian Summer Grill. You've completely turned this place around!

I live in El Segundo and it is just an excellent place for lunch. Their naan bread is insanely good. They make everything fresh as far as I can tell. They're always very nice and grateful. Some recent improvements to the interior. Highly recommend for your next Indian food craving.

First time trying Indian food so I was recommended to play it safe and get butter chicken or the chicken tikka masala which are very popular. When I got there my first option was the butter chicken but unfortunately they ran out so I went with the tikka masala. The serving was so big lots of chicken lots of sauce and lots of rice all very flavorful and creamy it was a good experience for my first time trying Indian food so now Im excited to expand into more options. O and that garlic naan is made fresh right there and it is just so soft and hot and garlicky which I loved

Exceptional service & food. Owners are kind but when you ask for spicy, they definitely know what they're talking about. Also with every a la carte entrée you order, you get free, naan bread, rice and a drink. 10/10 with flying colors. Don't sleep on their Mango Lassi!

Tried for the first time recently, the service was great and staff was friendly howeverrr the food itself was actually pretty terrible. It was actually inedible im never one to complain but it was just money thrown in the trash .

Solid spot for good Indian food! Takeout only, no frills type of place but it's great. Good food and super friendly staff and clean! Great Veg Samosas and the Tamarind Sauce was excellent. Chicken Combo plate is real good. Masala has nice layers of flavor that run deep! Chicken could have been more tender but it was good. The Grilled Veggies were awesome....nice and fresh and slightly crisp and seasoned perfectly. Lots of Rice! Had a bite of the Veg Masala and that was great too...real good smoke flavor! This place is on its way to a 5.Star rating....

Chicken tikka masala bowl - lots of rice, lots of chicken, lots of chunks of spices to unpleasantly bite into, and practically no sauce.

I've been going there for many, many years. Even after moving away from El Segundo, I stop by this place for my favorite Indian food whenever I'm nearby. Today is the first time I've been disappointed. The place reeked of cigarette smoke, like someone was smoking in their tiny kitchen or right out back. It was nauseating. The only person I saw working was super grumpy and barely said a word to me. The food tasted good. It always does. But one of the great things about chicken tikka masala is that rich delicious sauce that you dip your naan into and my bowl had very little. Not enough to dip a corner of the bread! The chicken portion was generous but also very, very dry. So the dish was begging for more sauce. Also, I kept crunching on big hunks of spice like star anise or cloves - it's a pretty potent and unpleasant thing to bite into. Next time I'm in the area, I'm not sure Indian Summer will be one of my stops. They seem to be going downhill... certainly very far from the days of tablecloths and outstanding service when they were on the other side of town.

6/26/23. Good portion + flavor. Tikka, saag, rice, naan. Express lunch post run. Day after ZNP trip with sweet fh. $12.

Holy crap, Batman. I just discovered a hidden gem. $12.00. Express lunch. Tikka, saag (the real star of the meal), naan. Best post run meal ever. No nonsense. Order. Be respectful and wait patiently as you watch the chef freshly bake your naan. Samosas also freshly cooked and will take 20 min. You're welcome, enjoy. I'll be back. Come support!

Love Indian Summer! They are so nice and friendly here. Everything I've ordered is delicious. Confused why their rating isn't higher so don't trust the older reviews. I've been eating here a couple of times a month since 2019 and the quality has been consistently good. Small spot with one high top table and a counter if you need to eat immediately, otherwise take it to go. Don't sleep on this gem. This is one spot I hope doesn't stay hidden for long!

Next time I'd probably try the regular matcha instead. I'm taking off half a star only because the matcha came out much later and we were almost finished with our açaí bowl by the time it arrived, but it wasn't a big deal. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and the music added to the vibe. Overall, I'd recommend this place and would happily come back.

We expected something different. In both, the "chicken" was fried like little nugget mushroom pieces instead of in patty form. Theres so many mushrooms, you can't actually eat the burger like a burger. You have to pick at it like nuggets. We both had vegan food before and although we are not hardcore vegans, we expected something else. Other vegan places use jackfruit for their "chicken" and it's not fried and very tasty. They really should advertise it as a mushroom burger because it doesn't taste in the least bit like chicken. The "chicken" lacked a lot of flavor, it was chewy like maybe it's frozen before? I was literally rotating different sauces to try and make the wrap taste better. Perhaps if you're hardcore vegan and love mushrooms, this place will work for you, but if you're used to flavorful food, I'd skip these two items. Neither of us finished the meal and we were out $34. Service and ambiance was nice. I just wish we liked the food more.

Kat was our waitress and she was phenomenal. Camine also came by and she was so hospitable. Everything that we ordered was on point! (Pun intended lol). My daughter got the cheese pizza and my son got the penne pasta. I kind of wish they had a side of vegetables or fruit, but thankfully, I had just given my kids some fruit before, so avoided the mom guilt lol. The edamame dumplings is an absolute must! It's an umami flavored dish! We also got the eggplant dish, and it was really good! If you've been to elephante in Santa Monica, it kind of reminds me of that, but the eggplant is a little bit more dense, but really great flavors. You may have to order an extra eggplant dip, because the ratio isn't exactly favorable towards the eggplant. Got the kale salad with shrimp. The shrimp was cooked to perfection! Kale was pretty good, but asked for extra cheese. My husband was all about the burger and he claimed it was one of the best burgers he's ever had! He got an IPA beer and I got a watermelon mint Mojito. It was really good, but I think I will try the skinny margarita next time. The price is actually pretty reasonable for the clean /delicious food! We are most definitely coming back!

Everyone seemed to recommend this place, so I figured it had to be worth the hype. Plot twist: I didn't realize it was vegetarian until I was already looking at the menu. Normally I'd be a little skeptical, but WOW... I never once found myself wishing there was meat on my plate. I ordered the Spicy Italian pizza, the oyster mushroom "calamari," and a glass of wine, and every single bite was delicious. That pizza though... It was hands-down the star of the meal. Crispy crust, packed with flavor, and honestly one of those pizzas I'd happily drive back to Venice just to eat again. The oyster mushroom "calamari" was also surprisingly convincing. Crispy, flavorful, and a really fun twist on a classic appetizer. And here's the real review: I took the leftover pizza home for my parents, and we all know leftover pizza can be hit or miss. Somehow this one was STILL amazing straight from the fridge. That alone deserves bonus points. If you're shopping on Abbott Kinney and need a break (or if you're just looking for a really great meal), don't let the vegetarian menu fool you. Even this meat lover left completely satisfied. I'll absolutely be back... mostly because I'm already thinking about that pizza.

I loved the matcha latte and avocado toast so much that I decided to drive two hours to come experience the café in person as a treat to myself. Unfortunately, I left feeling extremely disappointed. From the beginning, the service felt unfriendly. I tried showing my server what I had ordered previously because I wanted to recreate the experience I had before, but I didn't feel like she was very receptive or interested in looking at it. When my food arrived, the avocado toast was completely different from what I had originally ordered. When I explained that it wasn't what I had received before, it became clear there may have been a misunderstanding in how the order was entered, but the interaction made me feel uncomfortable, as though I was being treated like I had caused the issue. I wasn't looking to complain -- I was genuinely trying to clarify what I wanted. On top of that, service was very slow and my order wasn't taken until about 20 minutes after I was seated. My matcha latte was also disappointing compared to my first experience. I made a special trip because I had been so impressed the first time, which made this experience especially upsetting. I understand that mistakes happen, but I hope there can be more attention to customer service and communication in the future because I left feeling unwelcome and sad rather than excited to return.
