PGA West Team I…read morerecently had the misfortune of playing at Nicklaus Tournament Course and I can confidently say it was one of the worst golf experiences I've ever had. After an exhausting seven-hour journey to get there, I was expecting at least a well-run course with decent service. Instead, what I encountered was pure frustration. The welcoming team that took our bags were amazing. They were very professional which the pro shop desk could take notes from. The Marshal was very knowledgeable and professional. Unfortunately he didn't check for proof of purchase which led to immediately confusion for the clubhouse. From the very start, 1st hole on the fairway is where we were met by the marshal asking us to show him proof of purchase. We were harassed four separate times during our round by staff demanding to see proof of payment. We showed the Marshal our proof of purchase the very first time he came out to ask us. Even with that they continued to harass us continuously. Instead of properly managing their tee times and checking players before they started, they allowed this disruptive and unnecessary situation to happen repeatedly. It was frustrating, humiliating, and completely ruined the flow of our game. I've played at many superior courses that actually value their guests and take pride in their facilities. Compared to them, this place was a joke. The fact that I spent a full day traveling to and from this disaster of customer service makes it even more frustrating. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone. Not due to its course but its clubhouse employees. This doesn't take away from its great course aesthetics but takes great people from playing your courses. Save your money, your time, and your sanity--play somewhere that actually cares about the game and its guests. Indian Wells and Classic Club were very Professional. They had amazing people and their customer service was top tier.

The roughs here are extremely difficult. As in good luck finding your ball it could literally be submerged in the roughs. There's two great holes here with island greens, That is already hard without wind and very tough when there is. Theres Many holes with water in play which will really make you put your course management to work. Overall it's worth playing. Pace even on a busy day is very good. Lots of restrooms throughout the course. And they even have a new gps systems. Each cart has its own water jug. There is a cart girl that goes around. The Marshall also comes around.

Holes 1 & 2 felt like we've never played here before. We all said we didn't recall it being so difficult. Is it because we've aged two years? Or because it's a PGA course? We enjoyed the back nine more. And with Hole 18 cart path only, you want to play well as folks lingering or eating at the restaurant can see you. We still had fun even though very challengingand said we'd return. Hit it straight and avoid the rough. Otherwise you may never find your ball.

The inside bar/eating area is very nice with excellent views of the course, not to mention drinks were decently priced ($13 for a Bloody Mary). If you're early, you can use their complimentary driving range, however I found that the ground was rifled with holes making it very uneven and hard to hit off of. If mats were available that would be nice. On to the actual course - greens were nice and appreciated the desert scenery. There are water stations around to keep you hydrated and they give you water bottles as well. There was slightly more water at many of the holes than I expected and if you're like me, be prepared to lose a few balls. Despite my golfing ability, I had a very good time and it was a plus that we found an off-season deal.

This was one of the most difficult courses I've ever played at with the mountains, slopes, traps, and greens. Hope to improve my golf game to come back here for more rounds because the views are absolutely gorgeous!
