It was good but not that good. This place is expensiveeee. Tbh the dark chocolate was the best part for me. You would think the soft serve would be the star of the show but nope it truly was that delicious chocolate. This is a busy walk up window with a line always but I got lucky and the line moved quickly even though there were groups ahead of me. The staff member who assisted me was very quick and friendly. I noticed the menu on the window might've not been updated as it said they had no black cones available however everyone was ordering it and it sure was available. I ordered the regular sized Matcha Hokkaido swirl with dark chocolate in a black cone. So the regular size is like 6.50 or $6.95 something like that. Then add the matcha flavor that's an upcharge of $1.50, also doing swirl (two flavors) is another $1 upcharge. I added the dark chocolate as well which was another $1.50. Also the black cone I got I think had an additional charge too. Once I tipped I paid $13 and change which is almost nearly $14. Expensive. The dark chocolate was rich and amazing. The matcha like other reviewers say lacks boldness and is pretty bland. If you've been to Nana's you will be disappointed. I feel the same way about the Hokkaido as it isn't as creamy or rich in flavor or milky like you would expect. The Hokkaido is more on the sweet side and doesn't stand out. The black cone was cute but no noticeable difference in flavor. I just think for the price it just wasn't worth it. I prefer a place like Baiten over Indigo Cow. Your choice if you want to give this place a try as it isn't bad but I just think it's simply not worth it for the price. The only stand out thing for me was the delicious dark chocolate and I still wouldn't come back for that.
The best Hokkaido Milk soft serve of my life! Indigo Cow introduced Hokkaido dairy to Seattle. You have to stop by and try their Hokkaido Milk soft serve! So rich, creamy, and milky in an amazingly indescribable way. A must-try! If milk isn't exactly your thing, they've got a few other soft serve flavors and swirls. They also have a lot of fun toppings, so customize as you please!
This place was so good! I got the hokkaido milk & matcha swirl with m.b.r. I wished that I just got only the hokkaido milk since the matcha was lacking the matcha flavor. The mochi was soft & a little chewy. The brown sugar & kinako (roasted soybean powder) was a good addition & didn't overpower the icecream. You order from the window & they made it right there, so it was quick & efficient. There's no indoor seating, but there benches in front. Overall, I definitely will come back for their hokkaido milk soft serve.
After dinner nearby, we stopped by Indigo Cow for dessert. I've been here before at their LA location and tried the matcha and Hokkaido milk swirl. I wasn't impressed by the portion size or how diluted the matcha tasted, but I still remembered enjoying the Hokkaido milk soft serve. REGULAR - 6.50 + Hokkaido Milk +2 for M.B.R (Mochi + Brown sugar syrup + Roasted soybean powder) The Hokkaido milk soft serve was smooth, creamy, and subtly milky without being overly sweet. The flavor itself is pretty mild, so I'd definitely recommend adding the M.B.R. The mochi was a bit stale, but the brown sugar syrup added a nice depth of sweetness, and the roasted soybean powder gave the soft serve a nutty, toasty flavor. These two toppings definitely elevated the soft serve for me. Overall, a quick and casual dessert spot in the area. We sat at one of the tables outside and enjoyed our soft serve.
Indigo Cow is a soft serve shop that really surprised me in the best way. I'm usually a little skeptical of soft serve places since they often use nasty-looking mix, but I'd heard they use milk from Hokkaido, Japan, which is known for its dairy, so I came in expecting something rich -- and it absolutely delivered. They offer two flavors, Hokkaido Milk and Matcha, and I went with the swirl because I wanted the best of both worlds. I usually prefer my ice cream plain so I can focus on the flavor itself, but they do offer mochi and syrup toppings if you want to dress it up. I was actually a little surprised to see the strawberry syrup was sold out, which weirdly made me even more intrigued -- but in the end, I still stuck with the ice cream as is. The shop itself is a small pickup window attached to a larger Japanese restaurant, and it seems like a very cost-effective way to run the business. It also appeared to be operated by just two people, which made the whole operation even more impressive. When I went, there was a long line that stretched a good way down the street, but the wait moved quickly -- I spent about 15 minutes waiting to order and had my ice cream within minutes. The Hokkaido Milk was the standout for me: incredibly rich, creamy, and smooth. As someone who loves a good vanilla profile, I was very into it. The Matcha was also done really well, with just the right bitterness to balance the sweetness and complement the milk. I tried to isolate each flavor in every bite so I could appreciate them on their own, and I'm glad I did. By the time I finished, I was completely satisfied, but low-key wanted another round. I exercised great self-control though :D
Line moved quick-ish. I got the crème brulee, it's good for the novelty of potato on ice cream but lowkey would not get again. I really liked the Hokkaido milk soft serve but having mashed room temp sweet potato on it was an interesting texture experience. It was good enough to try once where I don't regret getting it because I was curious but would probably get something else next time! It's a fun place to take your friends to since Hokkaido milk soft serve seems pretty rare!
I'm not an ice cream fanatic. It's usually not my go to dessert. But since I heard this is made with Hokkaido milk, I wanted to try. It is amazing! Idk if it's placebo effect or really good. But I love it and would eat again if ever in the area. I tried the swirl and usually I'm not even a big matcha fan but this was very good! It was strong matcha taste but smooth and not super grassy or gritty. I added the MBR topping. The mochi was okay, a bit flavorless. But I loved the brown sugar syrup and roasted soy bean. We waited In line outside. It is serve through a pick up window. And then you can have a seat outside. If the line wasn't so long. I would get more lol. Next time get two!
Japanese (Hokkaido) inspired soft-serve ice cream - a limited menu, but delicious and interesting. Served from a window with 5 booths in the street, there is usually a line. It's a fun vibe, with everyone anticipating the treats to come. With a base flavor of Hokkaido milk, and a twist or separate flavor of the day (matcha our day), the soft-serve ice cream comes with a small variety of toppings available: strawberry or mitarashi dango, served either in a cup or a waffle cone. We'll be going back.

Indigo Cow is a small walk-up ice cream spot with a window for ordering and a few covered booths on the sidewalk where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. The menu isn't huge--just a handful of flavors with some toppings you can add. Given all the hype around this place, I was expecting something really special. We tried a vanilla ice cream with chocolate fudge sauce and another with brown sugar and mochi. The texture was definitely thick and creamy, but the flavors themselves felt quite subtle, and I didn't find them particularly memorable. Overall, it was a decent ice cream experience, but I personally didn't understand the level of hype. Good texture, pleasant enough, just not the standout dessert I was expecting
I always get the matcha and Hokkaido milk swirl which is so good. This time I tried a topping and got the MBR (mochi + brown sugar + roasted soy bean powder). The mochi was a perfect texture. There is usually a line, but I would say it is worth it and moves fairly quickly.
Pickup window only with some outdoor seating. My friends and I both thought the Hokkaido milk flavor wasnt as strong as we had in Japan but definitely still really good. Yum!
Wow yummy! Stopped by on a Thursday around 8:15pm; the line snaked around into the parking lot by Yoroshiku. We ordered by 8:45pm, so not too bad of a wait. The girl working was very friendly, big props to her for doing it all solo. Got the small in a cup w MBR (mochi, brown sugar syrup, and roasted soybean powder). Came with 4 mochi and an adequate amount of syrup and powder. I'd prob give this 4 stars. Even though a cone is $1.5, I do think there's a bit more ice cream. Friends got the yaki-imo brulee soft serve, which I tasted and thought was DELISH. The sweet potato topping was so tasty, and I felt like it cut through the flavor/texture fatigue of just hokkaido milk ice cream. 5 stars yum!!

It's amazing to enjoy soft serve ice cream in America that captures the richness and quality of Hokkaido milk from Japan. I always get the shiratama kinako flavor, but this time I tried the sweet potato brûlée for the first time and was truly impressed. read more

Go to Indigo Cow asap! I got the Hokkaido milk and matcha swirled, with their homemade strawberry syrup and mochi! The Hokkaido milk isn't very sweet and quite subtle to taste, while being complimented with slight bitterness from the matcha. Indigo cow is a walk up window attached to a restaurant. So do be prepared to stand and wait alongside the building for your soft serve! If there is a line, they do tend to go by quickly with how efficiently things are run. And busy or not, the service is always great! There is some outdoor seating next the the walk up window, but beware the seating is limited and people will be passing through consistently. read more

I got the Hokkaido milk soft serve and I must say it tasted better than the ones I had in Hokkaido, Japan. It's very creamy and wasn't too sweet which I liked. I normally don't get toppings and just enjoyed it in its own form. I sampled the matcha flavor and didn't really like it cause it was too milky for me. Feel free to sample the flavors before ordering. The parking lot in the back is really small and spaces are tight. It's shared with a boba shop but there's tables and seats available. read more
Went for after dinner dessert and there was a decent crowd but moved quick! Parking is pretty bad with not much space on the street so we used the bank parking lot. Shop is just a window space with some outside seating but mostly a to go place. Menu is one item and just pick toppings so it was pretty easily made. 8/10 Regular w/ MBR $6+$2 - My expectations of this Hokkaido soft serve is cremia from Japan but this didn't live up to that. Ice cream itself is still creamy, rich, smooth, but not as good in any of those as aspects comparatively. Barely meets the memory cravings. Surprisingly the star was the mochi. I was just going to get the ice cream only but was kind of glad to try their mochi. Texture was on point! Very chewy, not completely soft but rather slightly firm and bouncy. Paired with the brown sugar syrup and ice cream, it was really goood! Little pricy for ice cream but it is a good try. read more
A great ice cream place to grab after dinner at Yoroshiku or Secret Fort! I love grabbing dessert here as their Hokkaido Milk ice cream is super creamy and sweet. There's a few benches outside of the store which is perfect seating for summer! The icecream is made on the spot at the window so it's super fast as well. read more
By far one of the best Hokkaido milk ice cream I've ever had. The ice cream is extra smooth and creamy with a distinct flavor that sets it apart from your regular American style ice cream. Rain or shine, summer or winter, I'd still come through and make the tril to get their ice cream. The best combo is their original flavor with the theo chocolate hard shell. They do have seasonal flavors and toppings too, so definitely try those before they are gone. read more

The mochi is very bland and the brown sugar sauce is not too sweet (has a mild molasses taste) with a nice nutty sprinkle of toasted soybean powder. FIRE SOFT SERVE!!! probably one of my fave ice cream spots in seattle! it is a window outside of secret fort so there isn't any seating, unless you're also eating at secret fort/yoroshiku. i love the texture of their soft serve, so smooth and creamy, not overly sweet. they have the option to add toppings, the mbr is yummy, it has a brown sugar syrup and mochi, which are very soft and chewy. my favorite though is their seasonal creme brulee sweet potato! it has a sweet potato puree, then a creme brulee top! it was so good, i wish it was a permanent menu item. read more

Their ice cream is sooooo good! We had the ube and Hokkaido milk with MBR and it's hands down one of the best ice creams we had apart from when we actually had Hokkaido ice cream in Japan. This ice cream shop is a small window on the right side of a building that only has sidewalk access to order, but there are tables on the side of the street that you could sit at to enjoy the ice cream. There's a limited menu with flavors and toppings changing with the seasons so it's quick and easy to order and get your ice cream. The shop literally only has room for one person and one ice cream machine so if it's super busy it would be a hot minute to get your order. read more
As someone who doesn't like sweets, the Hokkaido milk soft serve is just perfect. I'm sure that the other flavors they offer here are just as delicious, but in my opinion, there's nothing that beats the Hokkaido milk flavor with their signature Shiratama Kuromitsu Kinako topping. They keep their menu small because honestly why would they need to add anything else when the Hokkaido milk is already so amazing? Not really any place to sit down because this spot is just a window that you walk up to, but that's okay because my soft serve will not last long anyway. I definitely make sure to stop by any time I'm in the area. The service is generally pretty quick and friendly. read more

Indigo Cow has always been on my list to try as I wanted to see what Hokkaido soft serve was all about. The soft serve was very creamy and milky! There were some bits I felt where it was a bit more icier than others but could be easily overlooked. It is also not too sweet at all (which is a HUGE compliment for desserts in Asian terms), which means that everyone would be able to enjoy. I got the MBR which is mochi, brown sugar syrup, and soybean powder. They had ran out of mochi before I ordered which was sad, but offered to give me dango as a substitute. I had never had dango before but the chewiness definitely added a nice texture to the soft serve. The brown sugar syrup and soybean powder added a sweetness and more flavor to the Hokkaido milk. Overall was a very pleasant dessert. Don't come too late in the night like I did if you want to try other things on the menu. I think those tend to sell out earlier in the day so recommend you come then! I would really like to try the sweet potato brulee soft serve they have been advertising. But it should be noted that it might be difficult to find parking depending on when you come. read more

We stopped by for some ice cream after dinner, but not just any ice cream; this is Hokkaido ice cream. It's creamy and refreshing made with milk from Hokkaido cows. This shop is at a window, so a quick order and pick up. I got the small Hokkaido milk ($4) in a waffle cone (+$1.50) and Hojicha sauce (+$0.50). I'm a sucker for a waffle cone, but this one was just okay. It was a charcoal cone that was very subtle in flavor, but not as crunchy as I'd like. On the other hand, the hojicha sauce was the perfect addition to the ice cream --highly recommend adding that if you like it. read more

AAAAAAAA Hokkaido milk ice cream exists here!? I had a fantastic experience at Secret Fort and this made it all complete! The menu is very simple - it's just one flavor (for now, at least?), Hokkaido milk - but that's how you know it's good. You can choose to add simple toppings like mochi and kinako. I would fly to Japan just for Hokkaido milk but now I can get it here. It. Is. Amazing. I would not say it's top notch authentic Hokkaido milk - the flavor is a tad stronger and sweeter than it should be. But I still love it and would get it on the daily. It is just a small window shop so it's ice cream on the go. read more

A cute little hole-in-the-wall spot in Wallingford serving up DELICIOUS Hokkaido milk ice cream -- it's a walk up window, and they have a super limited menu. The staff here is really nice and efficient, and we didn't have to wait too long in line. The ice cream is SO soft and creamy and I got the mochi and toasted sesame and would highly recommend -- the mochi were soft and chewy, and the nuttiness from the sesame was... chef's kiss. The subtle flavors go together so swell and it's not overwhelmingly sweet. I love and I'll definitely be back! read more

So delicious, I got the MBR +2 which includes brown sugar syrup, roasted soybean powder, and mochi as toppings. I love how it's not too sweet and the milk is rich. Looking forward to going back and trying other clovers and topping combinations. This is a small pick up window so don't expect a full ice cream parlor. They have some picnic tables next to it that you can sit as well. Perfect sweet treat! read more
I had never had Hokkaido soft serve, but I'm glad I tried it! The soft serve is super milky and creamy, and not too sweet. I got a small Hokkaido milk swirl with Mitarashi Dango. The mochi had the perfect chewy texture, and the sauce had a slight savory flavor that went super well with the ice cream. This was a great combo! I felt like the price was a bit expensive for soft serve, and wished they had a seating area since it was just a walk up window. However, the soft serve and dango was delicious so I'll be back! read more

I have a thing for soft swirl. Well really dessert in general, but I'm allergic to gluten, so it's often soft swirl, ice cream, gelato, fro-yo etc. My daughter is attending UW so she's become my official guide to great food in the city of Seattle. She's taken me to Indigo Cow on two different visits and both times it's been yummy. It's not the best soft serve I've ever had, but I love the Japanese twist on it. The first time I just got the brown sugar sauce and mochi on the Matcha/Hokkaido Milk swirl. The second time I got the Hokkaido Milk with the MBR (Mochi, brown sugar sauce, Soybean Powder). Both were yummy and fun. Not something I HAVE to have, but when in Wallingford a fun stop. They don't have an indoor space. You order from a window. They do have some covered seating right outside, but there are only 4 tables and they are often full, so when it's raining, it's not the most pleasant experience, but on a sunny day, it's cool. read more
Indigo Cow has been on my list for a while now, and I'm glad I got to try it recently, even on a wet Seattle day! Attached to Yoroshiku, I spent 15 minutes desperately looking for a public bathroom to use before I could get my ice cream! Maybe I should've asked if they had a bathroom for me to use but I wasn't sure... Anyways! Since it's attached to yoroshiku, there's street parking available, however it may be hard to get depending on what time you go. Service itself was really good, there was a short line but it went by really quickly, and I really appreciated how they offer outdoor covered seating, so you can sit comfortably on a cold day! I ordered the large soft serve in a cup, and added the MBR (Mochi, brown sugar syrup, and soybean powder) to it! I loved the soft serve - it was creamy, not too sweet, and the toppings were unique and perfectly complemented the ice cream. I think some pieces of my soft came out a bit icy, but it wasn't too big of a deal. The mochi was soft and chewy, the brown sugar syrup helped add additional sweetness while not being overwhelming, and I love soybean powder desserts as well! Indigo Cow is definitely some place I'd stop by again if I were in the area, I'd love to try the other toppings and get a cone next time as well! read more
Hokkaido dairy products are well regarded and have a distinct creamy, rich, aromatic flavor. Indigo Cow claims to be the first ice cream shop in the US to import Hokkaido milk to make ice cream. I was very intrigued to say the least, given how good basically any soft serve is in Japan. Regular Hokkaido Milk Soft Serve + M.B.R ($6 + $2). The brown sugar syrup overpowers the flavor of the ice cream and I regret getting the toppings - the soft serve had a delicate flavor that holds well on its own. The ice cream itself is not too sweet and the sweet cream flavor comes out naturally. There were four plain mochi balls which maintained a perfect chewiness even when they were chilled by the ice cream. The kinako was nutty and sweet and worked well with the other ingredients. The ice cream had small amounts of icy bits, like it wasn't churned correctly or it was allowed to melt and refreeze. Compared to soft serve I've had in Hokkaido and other prefectures in Japan, this rendition has quite a bit more overrun and is much less creamy and heavy with less cream taste. I wonder if this is because the equipment used in the US is different? I think the soft serve here is good enough. It doesn't reach the highs of ice cream in Japan, but is still perfectly delicious. read more
Indigo cow has the cutest pairing with a bar behind the one-man stand and is great to pull up to for a quick yet delicious treat. Their Hokkaido milk soft serve is perfectly creamy and flavorful. We got the mochi, brown sugar syrup, and kinako topping and absolutely loved it. I think having anko as a topping option would also be killer here. There are spacious outdoor tables next to the stand you can sit and enjoy your soft serve at, but if they are full, prepare to stand or walk while eating. read more
