Went on a Saturday at 7PM-ish and waited about 20-30 minutes to get our ice-creams. Really pricey (~$18) for two of these ice-creams. I would say that it's worth it for the experience, but I wouldn't necessarily see myself going back to this place. The ice-cream is definitely creamy and not too sweet, but I do wish the mochi had a bit more flavor as it seemed like it was just added for texture. Overall, worth it for the experience or for a nice date night.
I love ice cream. I love soft serve. I love creamy & cold treats. And this place deserves all the hype it gets. The soft serve is so creamy & delicious. The waffles cones are always fresh & I love the slight hint of sweetness. Who knew that milk from Japanese cows would make all the difference?! Toppings are delicious! The roasted soybean powder is the perfect addition. The MBR is my fave! Service at the walk up window is easy.
Tried this place while a friend was in town. Pretty long line but it does move. Menu is limited and a bit pricey but the hokkaido soft serve is pretty tasty. They have some outdoor seating too which is a plus. ried both a soft serve (matcha hokkaido swirl/mix) with MBR (mochi, brown sugar syrup and roasted soy bean), a side of dango, as well the creme brulee soft serve which was really unique and tasty and in my opinion, worth the hype of coming here to try this place. The dango was OK but the soft serve and the MBR toppings were also tasty. Definitely a nice little treat! I know that there is a seasonal rotation, so may not be matcha if we were to come back.
The first ice cream shop in America to make soft serve with milk from Hokkaido! We got the swirl with a waffle cone and added Shiratama Kuromitsu Kinako for the toppings! I think without the added toppings, the ice cream itself is a little bland. I had expectations it would taste like Cremia in Japan, but that's too high of an expectation. The waffle cone was really good though. It's pricey for what it is but worth trying!
Even on a cold day there was a line, and rightfully so. Their Hokkaido milk based ice cream is light but creamy. It's almost a literal hole in the wall, it's a small booth within a restaurant, but you order at the outside window. There aren't many options so you don't have to be indecisive! Hokkaido soft serve topped with MBR (mochi, brown sugar, and roasted soybean powder) is the classic order 10/10, but you can be adventurous! The yaki imo brûlée is a seasonal one (not sure how long it'll be around for) but it's basically a sweet potato mash topped with sugar and torched, a balance of creamy and crunchy from the burnt sugar- I personally liked the OG better but this was a good twist I'd like to try the matcha next time I'm around !
I waited 30 minutes in line for soft serve and would absolutely do it again. Indigo Cow is a tiny walk-up window on 45th, glowing with a neon blue cow sign, attached to Yoroshiku /secret fort. We went with the yaki imo brûlée: sweet potato soft serve with a caramelized sugar crust torched right on top. Warm and crunchy on top, cold and smooth underneath. It's a small menu and a two person operation, which explains the wait. The line doesn't lie. Go early, be patient, get the brûlée.
Saw indigo cow on tick tok and I had to try it out! They apparently get their milk shipped straight from Hokkaido which is pretty cool. It's an order window only so we had to stand in line for a bit. I got the seasonal yaki imo brûlée which was amazing. It was the Hokkaido vanilla soft serve with a layer of sweet potato, and then brulee'd like creme brûlée!! It was sooooo good. Staff was very friendly and worked so quickly! There was one person managing the whole stand!
We actually went here back in January. It was my first time in Seattle. And my bf made it a point to visit this place. He's the one that's actually been wanting to go visit this spot. It's a tiny hole in the wall ice cream spot. Keep in mind, it was hella cold already when we went and we still managed to get an ice cream in that weather. But the hype was actually worth it. There was no one there we went mid afternoon. I forgot which flavors we got. But it was really good like hands down, best ice cream I've had and it's sweet but not the type of sweet where you'll regret it. It was definitely worth the hype. Very limited menu but was excited to try the viral Hokkaido Milk ice cream at Indigo Cow. This is still in its popular era so expect a long line even on a weeknight. They have about 4 options with various limited toppings. I tried the crème brûlée ice cream which was topped with a sweet yam custard, not as good as I was hoping for, but definitely unique. We also tried the Matcha swirl with dark chocolate topping, and the Hokkaido milk with strawberry topping. The ice cream is quite a bit lighter than regular soft serve which I enjoyed.
So happy for stumbling upon this place! Now I can enjoy Hokkaido soft serve anytime without waiting until my next trip to Japan. The only downside is that the line is usually long, though it moves at a decent pace -- the longest we've waited was about 20 minutes. You basically just order through the window and there are a couple outdoor table/benches to sit on. I had the Hokkaido milk soft serve with dango and kinako, and it was incredibly creamy and delicious. Definitely worth stopping by if you're craving a sweet treat :)
Indigo Cow is a a little hole-in-the wall spot for Hokkaido milk ice cream! On two separate trips to Seattle, I somehow ended up at Indigo Cow because it was that good.! As mentioned previously, it is a small shop with pretty much just one person manning the machine and cashier! So it is quite easy to see why there would be a line that builds. But they literally just serve one product so the line does move fairly quickly. Customers will order and then there is some parklets for enjoying ice cream not too far from the shop. I would have to say that I enjoyed my first trip slightly more. I was with my family so was able to try a few varieties of their standard soft serve. The consensus was that the yaki-imo (baked sweet potato) was our favorite. There is the bruleee'd sweet potato with the cool creamy cream that was so velvety smooth! On the second trip, we got the melon and milk soft serve which was okay, but I think I would have preferred just the milk. The parking can be a little difficult in the area depending on the time of day, but able to find if you are willing to walk a little. Overall, Indigo Cow serves a cool treat worth the calories especially if you are able to get the yaki-imo!
As someone who doesn't like sweets, the Hokkaido milk soft serve is just perfect. I'm sure that the other flavors they offer here are just as delicious, but in my opinion, there's nothing that beats the Hokkaido milk flavor with their signature Shiratama Kuromitsu Kinako topping. They keep their menu small because honestly why would they need to add anything else when the Hokkaido milk is already so amazing? Not really any place to sit down because this spot is just a window that you walk up to, but that's okay because my soft serve will not last long anyway. I definitely make sure to stop by any time I'm in the area. The service is generally pretty quick and friendly. read more

Indigo Cow has always been on my list to try as I wanted to see what Hokkaido soft serve was all about. The soft serve was very creamy and milky! There were some bits I felt where it was a bit more icier than others but could be easily overlooked. It is also not too sweet at all (which is a HUGE compliment for desserts in Asian terms), which means that everyone would be able to enjoy. I got the MBR which is mochi, brown sugar syrup, and soybean powder. They had ran out of mochi before I ordered which was sad, but offered to give me dango as a substitute. I had never had dango before but the chewiness definitely added a nice texture to the soft serve. The brown sugar syrup and soybean powder added a sweetness and more flavor to the Hokkaido milk. Overall was a very pleasant dessert. Don't come too late in the night like I did if you want to try other things on the menu. I think those tend to sell out earlier in the day so recommend you come then! I would really like to try the sweet potato brulee soft serve they have been advertising. But it should be noted that it might be difficult to find parking depending on when you come. read more

It was ok. Really overpriced ice cream with mochi balls stuck in it. Honestly I don't notice a difference between Hokkaido ice cream and regular ice cream. Maybe just to make it sound fancier and increase the price. read more

Cute little storefront with outdoor seating. When I arrived the line was almost going down the whole block. As for the ice cream, it was not too sweet and yummy. The matcha flavor was strong and it was overall a good treat. read more

So delicious, I got the MBR +2 which includes brown sugar syrup, roasted soybean powder, and mochi as toppings. I love how it's not too sweet and the milk is rich. Looking forward to going back and trying other clovers and topping combinations. This is a small pick up window so don't expect a full ice cream parlor. They have some picnic tables next to it that you can sit as well. Perfect sweet treat! read more

We stopped by for some ice cream after dinner, but not just any ice cream; this is Hokkaido ice cream. It's creamy and refreshing made with milk from Hokkaido cows. This shop is at a window, so a quick order and pick up. I got the small Hokkaido milk ($4) in a waffle cone (+$1.50) and Hojicha sauce (+$0.50). I'm a sucker for a waffle cone, but this one was just okay. It was a charcoal cone that was very subtle in flavor, but not as crunchy as I'd like. On the other hand, the hojicha sauce was the perfect addition to the ice cream --highly recommend adding that if you like it. read more

AAAAAAAA Hokkaido milk ice cream exists here!? I had a fantastic experience at Secret Fort and this made it all complete! The menu is very simple - it's just one flavor (for now, at least?), Hokkaido milk - but that's how you know it's good. You can choose to add simple toppings like mochi and kinako. I would fly to Japan just for Hokkaido milk but now I can get it here. It. Is. Amazing. I would not say it's top notch authentic Hokkaido milk - the flavor is a tad stronger and sweeter than it should be. But I still love it and would get it on the daily. A cute little hole-in-the-wall spot in Wallingford serving up DELICIOUS Hokkaido milk ice cream -- it's a walk up window, and they have a super limited menu. The staff here is really nice and efficient, and we didn't have to wait too long in line. The ice cream is SO soft and creamy and I got the mochi and toasted sesame and would highly recommend -- the mochi were soft and chewy, and the nuttiness from the sesame was... chef's kiss. The subtle flavors go together so swell and it's not overwhelmingly sweet. I love and I'll definitely be back! read more
I had never had Hokkaido soft serve, but I'm glad I tried it! The soft serve is super milky and creamy, and not too sweet. I got a small Hokkaido milk swirl with Mitarashi Dango. The mochi had the perfect chewy texture, and the sauce had a slight savory flavor that went super well with the ice cream. This was a great combo! I felt like the price was a bit expensive for soft serve, and wished they had a seating area since it was just a walk up window. I love their Hokkaido Milk soft serve! It's very rich and not too sweet--almost as good as Cremia. The small size is more than enough for me and reasonably priced. The store has two shops, so make sure to order from the correct one. There are also self-ordering kiosks specifically for Indigo Cow. read more

An amazing cold dessert! So creamy yet light! The dango gets a bit hard to chew after being in the soft serve but still delicious. The employee was super sweet and quick to serve. They have 4 benches in front of the store to enjoy your soft serve at. There is also a good amount of street parking. read more
I have a thing for soft swirl. Well really dessert in general, but I'm allergic to gluten, so it's often soft swirl, ice cream, gelato, fro-yo etc. My daughter is attending UW so she's become my official guide to great food in the city of Seattle. She's taken me to Indigo Cow on two different visits and both times it's been yummy. It's not the best soft serve I've ever had, but I love the Japanese twist on it. The first time I just got the brown sugar sauce and mochi on the Matcha/Hokkaido Milk swirl. The second time I got the Hokkaido Milk with the MBR (Mochi, brown sugar sauce, Soybean Powder). Both were yummy and fun. Not something I HAVE to have, but when in Wallingford a fun stop. They don't have an indoor space. You order from a window. They do have some covered seating right outside, but there are only 4 tables and they are often full, so when it's raining, it's not the most pleasant experience, but on a sunny day, it's cool. read more
Indigo Cow has been on my list for a while now, and I'm glad I got to try it recently, even on a wet Seattle day! Attached to Yoroshiku, I spent 15 minutes desperately looking for a public bathroom to use before I could get my ice cream! Maybe I should've asked if they had a bathroom for me to use but I wasn't sure... Anyways! Since it's attached to yoroshiku, there's street parking available, however it may be hard to get depending on what time you go. Service itself was really good, there was a short line but it went by really quickly, and I really appreciated how they offer outdoor covered seating, so you can sit comfortably on a cold day! I ordered the large soft serve in a cup, and added the MBR (Mochi, brown sugar syrup, and soybean powder) to it! I loved the soft serve - it was creamy, not too sweet, and the toppings were unique and perfectly complemented the ice cream. I think some pieces of my soft came out a bit icy, but it wasn't too big of a deal. The mochi was soft and chewy, the brown sugar syrup helped add additional sweetness while not being overwhelming, and I love soybean powder desserts as well! Indigo Cow is definitely some place I'd stop by again if I were in the area, I'd love to try the other toppings and get a cone next time as well! read more
My friend and I were on our way to Molly Moon and we happened upon Indogo Cow. There was a line of about 20 people ahead of us and we were disappointed they were out of mochi and the yaki imo brûlée special, but I was still very happy with my choice. My friend did not love the dango, but also does not have an Asian palate. This place was part of Secret Fort which looked like a fun izakaya but we had just eaten dinner before so will need to come back to check it out. read more

Hokkaido dairy products are well regarded and have a distinct creamy, rich, aromatic flavor. Indigo Cow claims to be the first ice cream shop in the US to import Hokkaido milk to make ice cream. I was very intrigued to say the least, given how good basically any soft serve is in Japan. Regular Hokkaido Milk Soft Serve + M.B.R ($6 + $2). The brown sugar syrup overpowers the flavor of the ice cream and I regret getting the toppings - the soft serve had a delicate flavor that holds well on its own. The ice cream itself is not too sweet and the sweet cream flavor comes out naturally. There were four plain mochi balls which maintained a perfect chewiness even when they were chilled by the ice cream. The kinako was nutty and sweet and worked well with the other ingredients. The ice cream had small amounts of icy bits, like it wasn't churned correctly or it was allowed to melt and refreeze. Compared to soft serve I've had in Hokkaido and other prefectures in Japan, this rendition has quite a bit more overrun and is much less creamy and heavy with less cream taste. I wonder if this is because the equipment used in the US is different? I think the soft serve here is good enough. It doesn't reach the highs of ice cream in Japan, but is still perfectly delicious. read more
Indigo cow has the cutest pairing with a bar behind the one-man stand and is great to pull up to for a quick yet delicious treat. Their Hokkaido milk soft serve is perfectly creamy and flavorful. We got the mochi, brown sugar syrup, and kinako topping and absolutely loved it. I think having anko as a topping option would also be killer here. There are spacious outdoor tables next to the stand you can sit and enjoy your soft serve at, but if they are full, prepare to stand or walk while eating. read more
I had been wanting to try this place for awhile as it had been over hyped all over social media. The Hokkaido Milk soft-serve is smooth, creamy, and not too sweet. The ice cream was good but not something I would travel out of my way for. It did not remind me of my experiences in Japan which was a let down. The brown sugar sauce was something I would definitely skip next time as I did not think it complemented the ice cream. Plus the mochi on mine seemed to be previously frozen or had just come out of a very cold fridge because some were half icy but you could at least tell they seemed good quality. With this price, I expected to like it more. Overall I would say just okay and if in the area it is an option to try out. read more

The perfect post-meal treat! Indigo Cow is a hole in the wall ice cream counter serving up delicious soft serve made with high quality ingredients. We shared a small size Ceremonial Matcha and Hokkaido Milk swirl ($4.50) which was a larger portion than expected. We felt content after finishing it. There are also topping options you can add, but they're quite pricey. There is only street parking available, but it is free and relatively easy to find. There is covered outdoor seating available, but it can be very cold in the winter. It is connected to Yoroshiku and Secret Fort. read more

I first tried indigo cow when they just opened, and I remember my partner and I weren't impressed bc the soft serve was strangely icy. We figured it was maybe bc they just opened and said we'd come back to retry someday. We finally did this past weekend, and it was truly night and day. I think we may have just gotten a bad batch the first time or something. The soft serve this time was so good and creamy! I got the swirl with matcha, which I loved. You could actually taste the matcha, and it went so well with the creamy milk flavor. I also got the mochi but I didn't love it because I wanted the mochi to be chewier, so I probably wouldn't get that again. Def would come back again for the swirl and to try the chocolate drizzle! read more

However, the matcha flavor is not as strong as Nana's as it gets tone down by the Hokkaido milk. I don't think one is better than the other - it's different and both are amazing! They have 2 locations: one in Wallingford and the other in Bellevue! This is not a spot for large group - limited seatings outside. No service. read more

I got the new Yaki Imo Creme Brulee seasonal soft serve and I think it's their best flavor yet! You can really taste the yam and the brulee was an amazing added crunchy texture to the creaminess of the yam and the lightness of the soft-serve. My friends and I were very lucky because we lined up late at night and we got the last few of these of the night. Indigo Cow is a cute little pass-through service so everything comes super fast. There's some cute outdoor seating too though with fairy lights, adding to the cozy outdoor vibe. While the wait is long sometimes, the workers get you ur ice cream quick! One of the best soft serves I have ever tasted! Indigo Cow is focused on a light, creamy, Hokkaido soft-serve and they do a great job of it. Definitely a place if you want light-tasting ice cream and it's definitely not on the heavy side. I ordered the matcha soft serve with matcha-centric toppings. My boyfriend got the swirl (matcha & original) with Theo's chocolate wall in a cone. We really enjoyed the soft serve, it was light-tasting and the toppings really put it together. AMBIANCE - 10/10 It's a small storefront where you order at the window and get your soft serve immediately after. The employees are super nice and efficient. PRICE - 7/10 I'm sure the hefty price is due to the ingredients, but we ended up paying around $20 for two soft serves due to the toppings. FOOD - 10/10 I really enjoyed my matcha soft serve. I think the matcha flavor was very heavy, but this was mostly due to the toppings. I would highly suggest getting your soft serve with toppings or some type of syrup to really bring out the flavor. read more
I checked out this place since a friend of mine was raving about it. So I had super high expectations going to this place. I don't mind driving far food amazing food/desserts, so I was really hoping that this would blow me away. When I got there, I was glad that there wasn't anyone in line. There were only two flavors available: the regular Hokkaido milk and Matcha. I got the Hokkaido milk flavor on a waffle cone with the caramel and mochi topping. The parts that were covered by the caramel were delicious. It wasn't too sweet at all. Then when I got to the plain parts, it really did taste pretty plain. I did like that it's somewhat creamy, but I was just expecting more. I will say that I have a higher tolerance for sugar than most people I know.... The cone was delish though! read more
This place had a long line on a Thursday evening about 30 minutes before closing. That alone should tell you how good this ice cream is! I just had the Hokkaido milk flavor but I was so sad I missed this place when they had matcha. The ice cream is the perfect amount of creamy and smooth - just thinking about it is making me drool.
