Dr. Tran is an awesome dentist. He works hard to make sure your crowns or bridges are perfect in color, shape and fit. He is also very patient and kind when you have anxiety or when you need accomodations, like more pain medication, because of a genetic disorder. I don't recommend this practice for a number of reasons. I missed my last appointment because I got sick with COVID and when I called to rescheduled they informed me I had to pay a $50 deposit because over the span of several years I had to rescheduled three times. Every time I rescheduled it was with previous notice and only once did I miss an appointment, because I got sick with COVID. I've never felt so insulted. It is quite ironic that they take such stance, specially when I've never been seen on time for my appointments. They are always running late, at least 15 minutes. On one occasion I was seen almost an hour after my appointment time. I understand the doctor's time is valuable. And so is mine. I'm sure I can find another dentist who doesn't treat the patients with such apathy. read more

Put simply and succinctly: an an amazing(and stress free)dental experience. And yes, it begs the question: is this really a dental office? The vibe and alacrity and effervescence of the staff is truly edifying--and they truly make you feel important. And they listen to your concerns. So yes: it truly belies any other dental office I have been in. It all starts with Jennifer at reception. This gal knows her stuff--and makes you feel WELCOME the minute you come into the office. It is truly refreshing to get this sort of greeting. I then got a meeting with Dr. Tran to access any concerns or questions I had--and this is before any exam. Just a meet and greet! Have never seen this done before--and I absolutely LOVE IT! What a terrific way to greet a new patient. Within 5 minutes of our meeting--heck, maybe even two minutes--I knew I had found my new dentist. His ethos of caring and professionalism came off in spades--and he made me feel special as a patient. And then I got the requisite X Rays and got seen by Dr. Tran within 10 minutes! My experience here: revelatory! Professional and full of acumen--and explained my current dental needs in salient detail. And again: Dr. Tran took the TIME to listen to my concerns on some of my dental options. Bottom line: the whole dental experience was a salubrious one. And has me feeling very, very good about moving from old Dentist to Dr. Tran and Indio Modern Dentistry. I will update this review afterI have a crown put on my tooth in a few weeks. But I will be shocked if that doesn't go well. It really does seem like a dichotomy: a dentist who cares and takes the time to inform and enlighten you on your dental needs. And does it with an unabated sense of compassion and empathy. Staff are very friendly. I like how the doctors explain things to me. I was able to go in for an emergency root canal. Only thing is that I needed to complete several appts to complete the process from start to finish. Guess I was spoiled from past dentist who did it all. Be really careful who you see here. After Dr. DeWenter left I was handed off to a few newer dentists, one who tried high pressure sales tactics then stomped off when I wasn't interested, and another who's technique was so heavy-handed on a crown repair that I'm still in agony 4 months later. Having lost a crown, she assured me the tooth was still fine and began to replace it, but repeatedly dug into my gum line, complaining about her tool being too dull and then the core build up material not working as it should. My teeth, gums, and jaw have been in hell over 4 months now. They handed me a pretty heavy script for Norco then ignored all requests for help via phone and email. Luckily, another area dentist who was very caring and perceptive helped to shape the crown with an artist's eye, which initially provided some relief. However, my entire gum line is still highly sensitive from the rearmost tooth where the issue was, to the front of my jaw, and has never been the same since her many digs and repeated attempts to place the new crown. I like to give new people a chance but this person was not only lacking in skill but a sense of concern to match. Be very careful whom you trust to work on your teeth, the pain can be forever. read more

Went in a little nervous about getting my first crown. The front desk (jennifer and silvia)are sweet and helpful. After talking with Heather (the hygienist) and Dr. Tran I realized how smooth the process of getting a crown and a deep cleaning the same day was going to be. I got to watch the Dr design my crown and get made in the machine on the same day. That's what you call MODERN TECHNOLOGY. Yeah it costed a little more, but it saved me the second visit and getting a plastic temporary put it. It's nice to have found an office where everyone is so knowledgeable and friendly. So I break my tooth on New Year's Eve! And of course noting is open during the holiday! So I deal with the pain and everything! Monday morning comes around and I call this place an talk with Lilly and inform her what happened she told me no worries and got me in Monday afternoon for an emergency visit which was awesome! So I get there and I'm greeted by a warm and friendly staff! I go to the back with Maria to take some X-rays and she then takes me to the office and gets me ready and prepped for the doc to come! The doc aka Dr. Tran comes in and Introduces himself again another warm and friendly welcome he goes over and explains everything to me and what he's gonna be doing! He gets me all fixed and taken care of to come back for a root canal and crown in a few days and never felt any pain while he was working on my broken tooth! I'm then greeted by another warm and friendly greeting from Jennifer who goes over and explains all payment options with me and is very thorough and get me taken care of as I don't have insurance! 2 days later I'm back in the office to have a root canal by Djavan Wharton-Lake which was amazing and explained the procedure of the root canal and what he would be doing made the experience awesome and never felt any pain or anything while he was doing the root canal! I'm now getting all my teeth fixed and cleaned so they'll be looking white and sparkly! So if your ever in the are and looking for an awesome dentist I highly recommend going to or giving this place a call all the girls up front from Lilly, Jennifer and Alma are all very professional and knowledgeable and will get you taken care of! And the team in the back from Maria, Dr Tran and Dr. Djavan Wharton-Lake are all awesome working on your teeth without feeling pain! You need to do one thing today. Call Indio Modern Dentistry and make an appointment with Dr. Tran. Trust me he funny! After a thorough exam he will recommend treatment. From there you choose what you want to do. If you are anything like me Dr. Tran will recommend Kelly Wagner to take care of you. I needed DEEP scraping and excavating. Kelly was the woman for the job. She knows her way around tools. Kelly worked in my mouth and I did not feel a thing. Albeit I was numb like a...(you know what I mean). Kelly did a great job. I got a crown at Indio Modern Dentistry. I was treated like I was a widget on an assembly line. The doctor cut into my gums during the procedure. (13 crowns, and no dentist had ever done that ON PURPOSE.). He didn't once ask how I was doing during the procedure; he just chatted with the other doctor and dental assistants about his upcoming weekend at the Coachella Festival. The doctor didn't bother to match the color of my tooth. He made a guess on color and popped in a gray, dead-looking crown. I'm going to have it redone by another dentist. And the icing on the cake was when the office manager yelled at me in front of the entire packed waiting room about canceling 2 dental appointments. Which, I then informed her, the dental office had actually cancelled themselves. Probably the doctor decided to go to the Coachella Festival that day. read more

While I was walking into this clinic, I was skeptical, but as soon as I was approached by Dr. Tran, I felt relieved and immediately knew that I was in good hands. This review is my opinion and my opinion only, and based upon my own experiences. I've tried so hard to like this practice, but this is now the second time I've decided to not use them any further. Based upon the "demands" of the dentist, Dr. DeWenter, I am required to have two dental checkups per year or they will not allow me to have my teeth cleaned. I spoke at length with Dr DeWenter several months ago about my anxiety with dental visits. I like Dr. DeWenter, but my concerns have been ignored. When I spoke with the office manager, whose name I will not use, I told her I was fine with one checkup with x-rays per year and two cleanings but she told me that wasn't allowed. After 69 years, I think I know a good routine for me in regards to my dental care. The office manager was unbending and no compromise or accommodations were offered. When I told her there are a lot of dentists that do not require two checkups per year and that I could go to one of those, she replied with an uncaring, "yes you can." It is my opinion that this seems to be a typical practice of many dentists...... they want to get the patient in a chair as often as possible to bill the insurance companies as often as possible. The office manager seemingly did not care that I was leaving their practice and that was truly disappointing. My concerns didn't seem to matter and losing a patient was more important than trying to accommodate the patient. I've tried to like them, I really have, but I am not going to have unnecessary dental care forced upon me and be forced to pay extra co-pays when I don't believe it's necessary. Again.....This is my opinion based solely upon my own experiences. read more

After avoiding going to the dentist for a few years I made an appointment For a checkup and cleaning. After a very thorough examination and X-rays it was determined that I needed a crown and a deep cleaning. I was surprised that both procedures could be done during that appointment. Dr Tran was awesome! This was the most legit Dentist office I have ever been to in my life! Unfortunately my actual tooth was a difficult one, however, Dr Tran handled his business like a Champ! I had a excruciating bad pain with one of my wisdom teeth and with all the COVID-19 stuff happening there was not very many options on where to go to I googled Indio Modern Dentistry and they had great reviews all around, I called receptionist who answered was extremely polite and happy to help. I made an appointment for later that day, I arrived on time again the front desk lady was extremely nice, welcoming, and wanting to help me. Dr. Tran was a wonderful doctor to go to! After many years (literally) of not taking care of my oral health, i decided to put my big girl panties on and take care of business. Being new to the area i had no idea where to go. I used Indio Modern Dentistry on a recommendation from my insurance company. I knew I needed extensive work and I was terrified.After meeting and consulting with Dr DeWinter, discussing procedures, costs etc I felt in very good hands. Dr DeWinter was VERY patient with me, allowing me to relate my fears, holding my hand between tears and reassure me that we would take this at my pace. I am thrilled to say that after 7 months of appointments I am all good to go. Office staff have always been kind and respectful, the office is very clean and neat as a pin (very important to me) and flexible on my appointments. I reluctantly made an appointment with Dr Tran because I had several teeth that needed attention. I say this reluctantly because I am terribly afraid to have dental work done, it scares me so much. However, when I walked into Dr. Trans office the lady at the front desk was very very friendly and made feel at ease somewhat, then I was called to go in to see Dr. Tran! One of the girls came in and did all of the x'rays and the prep work for the dentist. I sat in his chair waiting for Dr. Tran to come in to give me all the bad news as to what had to be done. A young man came in and there stood this nice looking young man introducing himself to me as Dr. Tran. I got excited inside thinking, wow he's young and new to dentistry making me feel good because he must be up-to-date on all the new things. He very calmly checked out my teeth and asked me what was most important to me, the cost, the appearance, and etc. Of course I said, all the above, he just laughed and said okay! In short, I was given a print out of the total cost of the procedure and he explained everything in full detail. He was straightforward with me which I appreciated and now I'm comfortable and ready to have the work that is needed to make my gums healthy and my teeth look good. Started going to Indio Modern Dentistry to try Dental Insurance. My first appointment I went in for a cleaning and they tried to up sell me but I told them I only wanted a cleaning and so that is all I got. Have always gone to the dentist every 4 months for cleanings. The hygienist was busy and so the dentist did my cleaning which was excellent. The second cleaning appointment the hygienist kept me waiting in the chair for 45 minutes and never apologized and did a terrible job! I asked if I could have another hygienist for my next appointment and they were having a shortage for hygienists ??? Then my husband went in for a cleaning and he had just one 4 months before at our regular dentist (before we got dental insurance) and the dentist told him he needed extensive cleaning over $600 (over& above the insurance cost!) but it was up to him and made an appointment for that. When my husband came home we called Indio Modern Dentistry and told them he just wanted the regular cleaning and cancel the extensive cleaning. The gal on the phone was extremely rude and told him that was not possible and by law they could now not do a regular cleaning and he had to have the extensive cleaning ! She kept arguing with my husband and so he cancelled his appointment. We will never go back to Indio Modern Dentistry! I hardly ever write bad reviews but please beware of this place. read more

Update to my first review. Please note that this review comes from someone completely afraid of the dentist. The deep cleaning was done with care. My hygienist talked me through the whole procedure and was very kind about my nervousness. She did a spectacular job There was very little pain at all and I am excited to have a fresh start from years of neglect that I caused. I also had one of my wisdom teeth extracted and this brought me the most fear of the experience since I had teeth pulled before and it has given me nightmares. My dentist provided me exceptional care and made sure I wouldn't feel a thing. I truly couldn't believe how fast it was over with. I feel like this whole experience has allowed breathe a sigh of relief and will allow me to make sure that I no longer neglect my teeth since this team is so easy to work with I have nothing to fear in keeping things maintained. After all is said and done I would definitely recommend this place and I am happy I have people I can trust. read more
