After waiting to receive both Covid 19 vaccinations, I made an appointment with my dentist at Indio Modern Dentistry in Indio, California. We were very happy when we came to the desert and found this dentist. It had been over a year and I was excited to get checked. I arrived for my appointment and was greeted by a woman at the front counter. We were wearing masks as requited. She had me fill out some medical history on a tablet and return it to her. I had entered the data, but it did not keep it and she helped me to enter it again. When we completed the history, I asked why there were no Covid questions. She then started the Covid protocols at the office, first taking my temperature and then asking some questions. I had already been in the office for 15 minutes! I then asked if the persons seeing me were vaccinated. She laughed and indicated not necessarily. That seemed dangerous, to allow someone to put their hands into your mouth that may be infected, asymptomatic and no testing. I expressed my desire to have only vaccinated persons come into the room to see me and put their hands in my mouth. This included the cleaning and x-ray staff as well as the doctor and assistant. She laughed some more and spoke to another woman staff member who also laughed! I do not want the possibility of spreading this to my 84 year old mother or others that have not been vaccinated. At that point she suggested that I leave the office, I told her that when they changed their protocols for Covid, to contact me, then I left. It was apparent to me that this woman thought Covid 19 is a joke, although more than 500,000 dead Americans would suggest otherwise, not to mention the rest of the world! If persons who want more than the MINIMUM required are laughed at, then it's time to look for another dentist provider. I realize that not all people will want this type of care, however, when it is asked for, it should be exercised as there is no associated costs. I wonder if the dentist knows they are losing customers due to office staff behavior? read more

I wanted very much to like this place and gave them so many chances, more than they deserved really. My elderly father went in for a meet and greet check up and to get an estimate for dentures. I drove him to the appointment but wasn't feeling so well so him and my husband went in while I waited out in the car never expecting the estimate of over twenty grand!!! I went over and over it thinking I must be reading it wrong, this was seriously close to 25k in total out of pocket even with insurance for a set of dentures. It did include a mouthful of extractions and some adjustments but still that is a hard pill for anyone to swallow! I mean we aren't even talking implants here! Because I wasn't there and had questions I called them twice just to make sure I was reading everything right and to make sure they had the most updated insurance for my father. The woman I spoke with assured me on two separate occasions that indeed I had read it correctly and that was the price with insurance. After a couple days I decided to call his insurance and they told me that they fully cover one set of dentures, have upgraded denture options and maximums that network dentists can charge as copays!? The insurance company sent me a "fee schedule" which I highly recommend asking for if you are headed to the dentist anytime soon and armed with that info I called them back. They changed their tune and said yes, insurance did cover a a full set completely but that it would be awful and low quality... I mentioned how insurance said for a higher copay they offer a premium version. The person I was speaking with said they did not know anything about that and I would have to speak with the dentist but did offer us the choice that cost three times the copay given by insurance for a premium set. Regardless of this my father and I discussed it and wanted to go in and see the choices thinking we would go with the extra fancy set because it was such an important thing. I should mention we also attended the free dental fair in Indio to have his teeth extracted which saved about 8k off that original estimate. So anyways, I call back to make and appointment and received the WORST possible customer service that I have ever experienced in my life! First I call on Friday morning and am told that the person helping us is busy and she will call back before the end of the day... I wait and (you guessed it) wait like a chump because no one called me back. I call over at around 3:30 and NO ONE answers the phone, the (god awful) automated system puts me on hold for over 15 minutes babbling on constantly trying to upsell me or tell me how someone will be on shortly to help me. It was pretty obvious that they closed the office early for a long weekend or something like that. Sooooooo I call bright and early on Monday morning the next day they are open and the person I was working with is not available because she is working at a different location so I decide to just go ahead and make the appointment with the person I am speaking with after being put on another long hold. We get about half way through me trying to explain what my dad needs and was hung up on so I call again and am put on hold another 10 minutes until I just can't take the annoying hold system any longer. I wait a while and call back again a couple times but every single time am just put straight to hold. So I decide I will call over to the lady who was helping us but working the other office today... she is busy so I leave a message explaining the experience and hard time I had been having just trying to make a simple appointment. I was told she would call me back, it was around 10:30AM according to my phone records. I call again around 1 "out to lunch" but still no call as of 3PM so I call back one last time and am told she is "too busy" but will once again "call me by the end of the day...." I try to explain to the person on the phone my frustration and she dismisses and talks over me so I just tell her there is no need to call me back. Fun fact, not only did they lose my Dad's business but my husband and I have top tier dental insurance and were planning on switching to this dental group too because it reminded us of our great dentists in San Diego but noooooo way. So in conclusion they lost three customers today and an estimated $2,500 sale but apparently they are so used to talking people into dropping 25k out of pocket on a simple set of dentures (lmao) I have no doubt they will be just fine! read more

I had such a great experience at Indio Modern Dentistry. As a first time patient, I expected a bunch of paperwork and just a cleaning. However, everything was super easy and quickly filled out on an iPad. After my x-rays and expressing my concern about some missing/ damaged crowns, I was offered the opportunity to have them replaced the SAME DAY! I drove over an hour because of the great reviews and I was elated I didn't need to make the trip twice. I also mentioned I hadn't had anything to eat yet and was brought snacks while I waited for the crowns to be milled on-site. The billing was also very thoroughly reviewed with me before I made my decision and multiple options offered for payment. Not to mention everyone was super kind (snacks and breaks when my TMJ was making it difficult to keep open!) , friendly and funny. I can't say enough great things 10/10 recommend! read more

Dr.Kim is the best dentist I have ever been to in my life. I called with an emergency situation and they got me in the next day. I had a root canal done somewhere else prior and developed a large abscess so I was already scared. Dr.Kim discussed my options with me and pulled my tooth out while I was awake with numbing the very same day and removed the entire abscess with absolutely no pain at all. He was so nice and calming. I appreciate him very much because I was very scared walking in. Good Dentists in the valley are hard to come across and Dr.Kim is the best in the Coachella Valley, no doubt! Went in for the first time as I am a snowbird to have a filling replacements for the one that fell out. Met by a wonderful young lady who assisted me with filling out the forms for new patients Dr. Tran came out introduced himself and we we to his office to discuss my situation. He then examined my tooth and then took a couple of xrays where it was discovered there was also a cavity in that tooth so close to the nerve and not much tooth to work with. Decided it really required a root canal and crown. He took great care in making sure I was comfortable during the procedure. It was my first time there and I chose this office due to reviews on yelp and Google. The reviews were indeed very accurate. From the beginning to end it was a smooth process from check in, to check out. I do recommend filling out your information online before coming in, it saves a lot of time. The staff was very nice, x-ray tech was very professional and easy to work with. The dentist did a fast job at answering any questions I had and gave great quality care. The dental assistant was very good, she had a soft soothing voice that I'm sure comes in handy with nervous patients and she is very thorough and explains everything she's going to be doing before and during the procedure. Dr. Tran and his entire team at Indio Modern Dentistry have completely gotten rid of my fears and frustrations of going to the dentist. Admittedly, I haven't gone to any dentistry in years and my girlfriend recommended this place to me because I was looking to have my dental health assessed and my teeth cleaned. Once you've made an appointment, they send you a link via email to make sure to confirm your appointment. It's a nice touch because I would forget most things if it wasn't on my phone somehow. Once you're in for your appointment, they have you sign in and fill out your information on a tablet. It's a pleasant change from the usual dated clipboard process at most other health offices. Their front desk staff are very pleasant to talk to and very helpful. There was an instance where they needed to check my insurance over again due to the previous insurance representative being unable to verify if I had active coverage. They gladly got back on the phone and made sure they reached a more knowledgeable representative and verified that I was covered after all. Once they were ready to see me, my assessment began with Dr. Tran sitting down with me and going over all of my expectations. He seems to genuinely care about getting to know all of his patients beyond just their dental concerns. He made notes and went over what can be done about my concerns and then began a thorough examination with an x-ray followed by a gum health assessment with the rest of his team. Both his x-ray technician and hygienist were very thorough and talked me through their processes while educating me more about what they were seeing. The final step in the assessment was a re-cap with their recommendations and what the services would cost with my insurance. They made sure to give me options based on what was needed to be done and I made my follow-up appointments right away. I should mention that they offered to get the services done the same day but due to my schedule, I needed it done at a later time. Today, I just finished my 2nd deep cleaning appointment with their fill-in hygienist, Heather. I honestly wish that Heather was there permanently and not just for a short time. I started by saying that Dr. Tran's entire team put me at ease with going to the dentist and I've got to say that it's hugely due to the professionalism, skill, and patience of Heather. I went from having internal melt-downs when a needle was involved for anything to being perfectly calm thanks to Heather's technique. She constantly checks in with you to make sure if you're ever in any discomfort and makes adjustments when needed. She made the entire process of numbing and cleaning my gums so much less intimidating than what I was used to. Even knowing Heather aka Tsanumi won't be there for my next appointment in 3 months, I'm glad my girlfriend recommended Dr. Tran and his awesome team and that this was my initial impression of his office. I waited for 2 months due to COVID 19 to be seen. I was rescheduled once and today was my appointment. I had to take my kids because no one could watch them. I show up and Lily, the front receptionist/Supervisor tells me we will have to Reschedule again, because they can't have my kids in the waiting room. No one mentioned anything about this, and she started giving me attitude and became very unprofessional. I'm saddened that I had this experience as a first time here. I understand protocol but there's a way to go about things. I'm not sure I'll be returning to my rescheduled appointment and I'm definitely not recommending this place to friends or family. I hope the owner gets to read this, because it's sad that the first impression of their business is this person who has attitude and isn't empathetic. read more

Dr Tran has been our dentist for about 6 years now. We followed him from his previous clinic Desert Gateway Dental Group. We were given the option to stay with Desert Gateway or 'relocate' to Indio Modern Dentistry. It was an easy decision to follow him and the rest of his crew to Indio Modern Dentistry because of the exceptional dental care that they provide at every visit. It doesn't matter if the visit is as simple as routine cleaning or some work (crowns, fillings) has to be done, they make sure that they deliver nothing but the best dental care possible. When Covid-19 pandemic hit they have quickly adapted to make the visit as safe as possible. From conducting a health questionnaire prior to your visit, they check your temp and they do not make the waiting room crowded. The moment you arrive for your appointment, you call their number and wait in your car, I only waited for 2 minutes then called me, I signed the consent then off I went to get dental xrays. Shortly thereafter, Dr Tran performed the cleaning and as usual, it was easy, painless and efficient. He is a doctor that is not like other dentists who would try to sell you stuff or do unnecessary procedures. He is very honest and will tell you upfront if something needs to be fixed or not. You are informed with your out of pocket costs, insurance coverage and definitely no surprise bills through the mail. The clinic is very clean. One of my friends recommended this place to me. She used to see Dr. Tran at his other work place but she followed him to this location. I thought I would give Dr. Tran a try. I went in just for a cleaning. I found out that I had a really deep cavity! Dr. Tran walked me through the steps and was very thorough in explaining what was going to happen. He made me feel very relaxed. I have been to many doctors where they don't tell me what they are about to do, and it makes me nervous. Dr. Tran had to numb me too since the cavity was really deep. I saw Dr Tran, very pleasant and thorough. Been having a problem in the lower back in front of where the wisdom tooth was. Decided to extract it. The oral surgeon was scheduled for the next day. They gave me an appointment and the surgeon removed the tooth. I have never been a good dental patient from my childhood but they made me as comfortable as I could be.
