Some places feel like home. Simple, rustic, not trying to be somewhere it is not. Delivering good food, good drink, all whilst delivering superb service. At ingas you're so much more than a guest, you're a friend--a companion. A delicately designed interior with old world vibes mixed with a bit of funk to remind you in an ever changing world, we all have the potential to remain true yet evolve. Boasting a simple menu Ingas does not do too much. They have found what they do well, and well, they do it. I love that. An amazing chorizo and egg english muffin paired with a little short bread strawberry short cake satiated every brunch desire I could ever have. A nice light salad to pair. A drink menu predicated on a passion for classics, but not just boasting the basics. A cantarito for me. Wonderful.

The creamiest biscuits and gravy I've had in a long time. Needed a hint of salt but that's an easy fix. The chilaquiles were yummy and not too spicy, paired perfectly with a light beer for breakfast. Don't overlook their hash brown rounds. While the whole staff was lovely, Jess (our server) was very friendly and took good care of it. It was a little loud, but given a Sunday morning, we had no problem getting our table and didn't feel rushed. I'll be back.

Hidden gem!!!! I loved this spot, came for a Friday dinner at the bar. Had a drink and only had to wait about 30 min for 2 bar seats. The burger is a MUST & the steak tartare was very fresh & flavorful! Loved the bartender, great conversation all night & amazing staff. The vibes inside were so great. I will absolutely be back!

    Himachi Crudo

Love the vibe! Started with the himachi crudo and octopus which were both delish, then shared the burger and short rib mains. The mains were super salty! The burger was really good, but tbh if i hand a blind taste test, i probably couldn't tell the different from a 7th street burger. Just a steep price for a simple burger. The short rib was good but again, super salty. Love the vibe so may come back for drinks but won't be a regular dinner spot for me! Service was good but had a hard time hearing our waiter. Also never came back to refill our water glasses

This is my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn heights for ambiance specifically. It's tucked away and so close to the promenade, it would make a really great first date spot. My fiancé and I love to come here when we want a true New York vibe for dinner. The food is good but not robust. They do however have a great drink selection. I wish they had match boxes! Overall, Ingas is a staple for my fiancé and I due to its charm and one of a kind location.

Our third visit here, and the food and atmosphere never disappoint. With 4 of us coming, we make an early reservation (they had no tables from 6:30-9:30!). We were greeted warmly by the hostess and had a round of wines (nice selections by the glass). The tomato toast appetizer was a crisp and refreshing way to start off our meal. We ordered the halibut (tender, juicy, & flavorful over a bed of corn, kidney beans and tomatoes) and chicken schnitzel (surprisingly tender chicken - these are so easy to overcook!). Both dishes were fantastic! We finished with their homemade key lime pie, a favorite of ours, and I think the best in Brooklyn. Inga's Bar has become a wonderful local restaurant we have no trouble recommending or bringing good friends to. Well done!

Wow! My old hood is stepping up its game with this place!! if you haven't been to Inga, yet, I recommend you try it immediately. Especially if you live in or around Brooklyn Heights. It's in the building that used to house the restaurant Jack the Horse Tavern. Everything we tried on our first visit there was off the chain. The two standouts for me, however, had to be the Victor Salad and the Mortadella. The Victor Salad's star ingredient is celery--sounds crazy for a salad, right? But, whoah!! The celery is actually boiled in vegetable broth until soft and then placed along side other ingredients such as greens, Parmesan, and anchovies. It's unbelievable!! Oh, and that Mortadella--creamy, succulent, and just brilliant. As for mains, try the cheeseburger! Nom!! Since converting over to Ingas, the interior aesthetic didn't change much--it's still dark, quaint and perfect for a date night. But they did reorganize the interior footprint a bit, so it seems a tad more spacious. Finally, I'll send a final shout out to Ingas for the service, which was perfection!! Try this place soon! You will not be disappointed.

Inga's may have been here for over a year already, but I'm somehow just checking out this successor to one of my favorite spots in this part of Brooklyn: Jack the Horse Tavern. (Only old people recall the businesses of yesteryear, and this is fitting because I turned old recently). And I'm glad I did. The room and crowd is just as convivial as it once was, the service is outstanding, and the cocktails are well-balanced and delicious (although I think they could use better ice). We liked the Modern Romance, and they know their way around the classics as well. The food is executed very well. Anyone can find something they like on this menu (including the excellent burger), but there's also some avant garde twists. I'd never heard of the Celery Victor before, but I really enjoyed the weird and wonderful braised celery salad, topped with mustard seeds and chunks of cheese. We started with that, a fluke crudo, and the fried deviled egg, topped high with bacalao and some trout roe. (I was more into it than she was.) As far as mains are concerned, the pork chop is outstanding, with charred onion jam rounding out the whole dish, and the halibut with its mushroom broth and parsnip puree is probably my favorite bite, although it was a laughably small portion for $35. And therein lies the rub. I know we're in Brooklyn Heights. I know there are $12 million dollar brownstones down the street. But if you're going to charge these prices ($14 for two deviled eggs that were a bit too fishy?), everything needs to fantastic. Again, I'm an old man, but dinner for two should only be $250 if everything lives up to that price point. Then again, the room was quite full on a Friday, so maybe I'm off. Perhaps a few celebrity sightings had to do with that. I like it, but for me, the prices push it into special occasion territory, when it's actually a neighborhood restaurant.

For my entree, I ordered the vodka rigatoni and a side of buttered broccoli. The vodka rigatoni was really good - liked the flavor and a decent size of pasta. The broccoli was really good for some reason to me. Also tried the truffle mac and cheese which was incredibly rich and tasted great. As a dessert, we had the chocolate pie which was dense, rich, and topped with a huge dollop of whipped topping. I really liked the atmosphere of the place, loud roaring 20s style with jazz playing.
