This was my first time eating Peruvian food, so I'm sharing my experience based upon my taste buds and the ambiance. Overall, I give my experience a 3/5 as average because there were drinks from the servers on the bar by the new beer taps( not being used yet). The food was bitter and the rice was dry. I hope the Peruvian music is added and the servers avoid putting their personal drinks from Starbucks on top of the bar next to the beer taps. I really wanted to like this place after waiting a long time for it to open. I've been twice, and both times were a disappointment. I probably won't be back. When I visited the first time a couple of days after their opening, I ordered my usual - beef Lomo Saltado priced at $18.00. It was underwhelming. For example, it would have benefited from more sauce and more tomato. The plate had just one small wedge of tomato, for instance. When I visited the second time a few weeks later, I was persuaded to order the beef Lomo Saltado lunch special priced at $14.95, which was even more disappointing than my first try: - It appeared to be a bargain, but it wasn't. The portion size was considerably smaller than the regular priced Lomo Saltado, although it did come with a cup of forgettable chicken based soup. - Here again, the plate had just one small wedge of tomato. - The beef tasted overcooked, and it was tough. - The plate had an odd taste that is difficult for me to describe. The best description I can come up with is burnt. - The fries were not worth eating. I've had markedly better Lomo Saltado at various other places. When the server asked me whether everything is OK, I told her the food wasn't very good and why. She gamely offered to have an another plate prepared, but I declined. I doubted that a second plate would come out any better, and I wasn't willing to sit around for another ten to fifteen minutes for a second plate to come out. I try to be fair when I write a review. Came here 2 weeks ago. The long wait is over! Am sure a lot of Tustin residents are happy to see that they are finally open. Great service and delicious Chaufa Combinado (generous portion) which is basically Combination Fried Rice Peruvian Style. I personally prefer Chaufa Mariscos (seafood) but the Combinado was not a bad option. They serve complimentary bread with their special green sauce. read more

I wasn't expecting too much from this place so I was pleasantly surprised at how great all the food was. They had "happy hour" deals for empanadas and a pico sour (not pictured) which were both flavorful and decent deal. The pasta verde was delicious! I had it with steak and my wife with chicken. Food was decent, but this place isn't very customer service friendly. I placed an order online and showed up at the restaurant to check in with the hostess on the status of my order. She told me they were working on it. 20 minutes went by as I sat with my 3 year old (felt like forever) trying to keep him calm while we waited. She came back over to apologize that they never received my order and proceeded to tell me they don't accept order from Yelp/Grubhub. I had to ask if I could just get my order in and how quickly they could get that out since she didn't offer. The manager came over to speak with me about the issue. He reiterated what the waitress told me about not accepting Yelp/Grubhub orders and they didn't know why they sent me a confirmation. I made a few suggestions of actions he could take to remedy the situation for future issues, but I was met with an unreceptive attitude. The manager never took any info on the order confirmation etc. to follow up so guessing the next person who orders through Yelp/Grubhub will experience the same. Good luck to yall read more

Como buen peruano, me siento orgulloso de nuestra gastronomía por su variedad de sabores y porque cada plato nos conecta con nuestras raíces. Me alegra que existan restaurantes peruanos en la zona, pues siempre es motivo de emoción poder recordar los sabores de mi tierra. He visitado Inka Mama's en Tustin en tres ocasiones, dándole siempre el beneficio de la duda, pero lamentablemente en mi última visita terminé muy decepcionado. No quiero que esto se entienda como una crítica destructiva, al contrario, mi intención es que lo tomen como una oportunidad de mejora, porque si la experiencia cambia, con gusto volvería. En mi última visita pedí dos platos que me dejaron bastante insatisfecho: Ceviche: desde la presentación ya llamó la atención que lo acompañaran con papa sancochada en rodajas y mucho jugo que parecia mas una sopa y la canchita nadaba en esa sopa. Al probarlo, el exceso de ácido cítrico opacaba los sabores y el limón usado estaba amargo, lo que arruinó el jugo, que es la esencia de un buen ceviche. Además, el exceso de condimentos hizo que no pudiera disfrutarlo y terminé devolviéndolo. Eso sí, debo reconocer la amabilidad del camarero, quien me indicó que no me lo cobrarían, lo cual fue un buen gesto. Cabrito a la norteña: aunque el plato lucía bien, al probarlo me encontré con una preparación que no reflejaba el sabor característico del cabrito a la norteña que conocemos en Perú. Más bien parecía un guiso con cebolla y pasta de tomate, lo que terminó predominando demasiado. El frejolito estuvo sabroso, pero el cabrito en sí no cumplió mis expectativas, al punto de que no pude terminarlo. Reconozco que otros clientes en el local parecían disfrutar sus comidas, lo cual me alegra, pero en mi caso ha sido la tercera vez que salgo decepcionado. Ojalá puedan mejorar la autenticidad y el balance de sabores de sus platos, porque la cocina peruana merece brillar tal como es. Si eso sucede, sin duda volvería con entusiasmo. We visited Inka mamas in Tustin because we had some errands to run around the area and absolutely loved the Inka Mama's in foothills ranch. When we got inside the restaurant it looked mildly crowded (2-3 open tables) No one came to seat/greet us for about 10mins. As we sat down we noticed only one server for the entire restaurant! At that moment we really tried to give them grace. Sucks being short staffed. Well we ordered the appetizer Causa and our normal go to dishes at Inkas. Unfortunately, the appetizer came out 10 mins AFTER the main course was served (already half way done with our food). The food was ok I guess (compared to our other times at the FR location) our sodas were flat and the server never came back to us until we asked him for the bill. Honestly even after all of that, I probably would've left 2-3 stars because I feel bad for their lack of staff. But then I came home and an about 30-45mins later we discovered we had major food poisoning. Going into almost 24hrs since we've been there and I still don't feel well. I am extremely disappointed in the service, and food handling at this location. We learned our lesson and will stick to the foothill ranch location. I warn other customers to please be careful when eating here. Things definitely need some serious changing hopefully health inspection comes soon. read more

I had a craving for Peruvian food. I hadn't had any in almost a year and because it was my birthday and I felt like treating myself, I decided I would give this place a try. Little did I know this would be one of my favorite birthday nights out in a long time. Alex, the server at the bar was extremely friendly and personable. He made me feel like I was visiting a friend who was making me dinner rather than simply just visiting a restaurant. I asked him about some Peruvian specialty drinks and he let me sample a couple before recommending that I mix the two together for a better experience. He was absolutely right. I told him I would order that mixed drink and he told me that since it was my birthday, it was on him. I thanked him and ordered the Lomo Saltado which came out in a timely manner and tasted delicious. I wasn't overly salty had a good balance of flavor and the meat wasn't overly tough. All throughout dinner I chatted with Alex about the flavors and origins of these types of dishes and by the time I was ready to leave and I went to pay for my meal, Alex stopped me and told me that since I enjoyed it and because it was my birthday, it was on him. When he said it was on him, I thought he meant the drink, not what would have ended up as around a $30 meal. I tried to pay, but he simply wouldn't take my money. I would have been satisfied with quality food, a friendly atmosphere, and a clean bar space, but Alex treated me like family. Your experience may differ from mine, but so long as people like Alex are working at this establishment, you can trust you will be in great hands and the conversation will be pleasant. This probably would have been close to a 5 star experience without having my meal comped. Considering Alex went above and beyond, this location will now have a regular customer for the foreseeable future. Keep in mind that Peruvian food isn't an every week kind of meal so yes, the price may be a bit much for some, but the hospitality will more than make that price worth it. The food is quality. I visited this place last Friday and had a very nice beer from the happy hour special, got some bread and aji green sauce which now I love, sat at the bar and had a chicken combinado that was delicious, I'm a fan Peruvian beans and substitute my rice for Chaufa rice (fried rice),used some of the aji green sauce on it and I highly recommended, Gabriel and Ana were super nice, helpful and friendly and pointed out the many specials for the happy hour that changes everyday and the ambiance with all those pictures of Peru are neat and cool. read more

I LOVE Peruvian food and was so excited that it was coming to Tustin, sadly the food fell flat. Cute corner with lots of outdoor seating. Super friendly hostess & wait staff. Great menu with lots of choices, meat, chicken, pork, brown rice or white rice. We ordered the empanadas as an appetizer. The empanadas order came with 2, but when we got it they were small, doughy, hand size & they came with a butter-like dip, that was not tasty. The papa la huancaina sauce was watery and tasteless, if you closed your eyes you wouldn't know what it was you were eating. As our main we ordered lomo Saltado with the upgraded meat ($30) and it fell flat. Flavorless, the French fries tasted like frozen fries from the grocery store & not a lot of onions. It was fine but not $30 fine, so won't order again. All in all I will keep on searching for something with a bit more flavor. This place misses it by a long shot. read more

We love Peruvian food. We've been so excited to try this place, as we've tried all the Inka's and love them. We are here Saturday evening after attending a play. Perfect way to end our evening. The food was amazing. Such friendly and welcoming staff too. I love how this particular restaurant has a modern touch. I love how they're all decorated, but this is really cool! Knick knack/trinkets straight from Peru! Plenty of seating indoors and out! The outdoor seating looks so comfy. But seriously! Look at my food picks.....SOOOOOO YUMMY! We've been waiting for this place to open for over a year. There just aren't any good Peruvian restaurants in OC. There's a couple of fusion Peruvian places (Vietnamese/Peruvian, Mexican/Peruvian) that are just mediocre. It was worth the wait. Authentic Peruvian food including that tasty and spicy green sauce. We had lomo saltado and mariscos saltado. Both were excellent. My only gripe on the mariscos was that they left the tails on the shrimp. We also had a couple of empanadas that were very good. My wife didn't enjoy them because they had a hint of sweetness due to raisins I think. We sat at the bar and the service was super friendly. The inside is smallish but there's outside seating. Be warned that there aren't any heaters outside. I would also suggest that you go early or call for a reservation as it gets crowded. read more
