Went out for girls night and had been wanting to try Inka's. It was delicious and we all agreed we'd be back and are even planning on bringing the hubby's! Small family owned restaurant with amazing Peruvian cuisine! Menu is extensive with lots of selections to appease everyone's pallets. The wine list also had a variety of selections. Starter- we had the causa acevichada with chicken salad. It was a bit unexpected but really tasty Dinner: 1) Lomo soltado - made with filet so it was extremely tender and the flavoring was perfectly seasoned 2) arroz con mariscos - delicious Peruvian paella. Paella is one of my favorite dishes and this one is deliciously prepared with some form of a cream sauce which was a pleasant change to traditional Spanish paella. Unlike other restaurants which have been skimping on the seafood, Inka's has lots of seafood and nice variety of different seafood The ambiance is typical with vibrant colors Waitress knew the menu very well and gave us lots of suggestions and did a great job of explaining what was in the dishes and how they were prepared. The chaufa we had here is better than any fried rice I've ever had- the way they cook rice here is a master class. Even the side of rice is a deliciously seasoned perfectly cooked garlicky rice that is just chefs kiss. We licked the plate of lomo saltado clean because the sauce was absolutely delicious. Had a great time introducing my parents to a new type of cuisine. Highly recommend. I'll be trying out more of this menu for sure, some of the daily specials look fire. read more

My friend and I ordered the seafood paella and the ice cream to share, and both dishes were truly standouts. The paella was so creamy and delicious, and was a generous enough portion for the two of us to share without feeling hungry after. The seafood was also tasty and well cooked and complemented the flavors of the paella well. The paella came with a spicy green sauce that we loved too! The ice cream was also super unique and had a caramel-like coffee-like flavor that I've never had before - would definitely recommend trying this as well! read more

This restaurant is in this small shopping district that was honestly a little sketchy with some homeless people wondering around looking inside cars. We parked our car close so we can still see it by the restaurant. Anyway this place was small but homey. We were greeted and seated immediately. At the time there was only a couple tables of people but more came in after us. The menu looked good, I wish I could eat alot in one sitting because there was a couple dishes I wanted to try. But we settled on two mains and an appetizer. How's the food? Bistec a lo pobre- $34 My boyfriend got this one. It's honestly not bad. Steak and fries with an egg. Not my favorite because for me I would like some sort of sauce with this. The steak was seasoned and cooked well. A little pricey. Ceviche mixto- $27 I loved this. This is the dish that makes me love Peruvian food. I love the succulent seafood, the tangy marinade it sits in, the corn and taro chips for texture. I am not ashamed to say I finished it all. 10/10 would get again. Chicharron Pollo- $19 If I wasn't already so full I would finish this too. The texture is great, seasoning on point, and hefty portions. Overall I thought the place was great. The food was delicious and the service was great. Damn. We're so sad! We came back remembering how much we love our first experience but were underwhelmed this time around. You can see my pics the difference in the pescado a lo macho from before and what it is now. It's pretty much the same price for so much less. No more mussels. No more squid. The fish was overcooked, dry, tasted a bit charred, and had zero crispiness to it. I'm wondering if it was even fried? Luckily the shrimps were cooked well and tasty! But hubby and I both agree this dish was not great and we're pretty bummed about it. We ordered the ceviche trio too which was decent though a smidge salty. Also they asked if we wanted chips with it. And I thought that was pretty standard accompaniment and said yes, but I think we were actually charged for those. I just had dinner at this place and it was so delicious! I used to go to Isabel's, which was here previously and I was so sad when that closed but when I saw this, I just had to try it! We got here right after seeing a matinee at Santana Row so it was an early dinner and there was only a couple other patrons in the restaurant. I ordered the Ceviche de Pescado and my friend got the Ceviche Mixto. The fish used is mahi-mahi and it was so delicious! The Mixto had the the mahi-mahi plus shrimp, calamari, and octopus. Both ceviches came with some sweet potatoes and some corn. The sauce was absolutely amazing and I could've drank it up like broth. It came with a chip garnish, and we ordered an extra bowl of chips to share. You have to scoop up every bit of this deliciousness so you need extra chips! The portion size was perfect, but of course we had to have dessert. We shared the ice cream, which was the house specialty and was a fruit that I've never heard of, but was delicious, it tasted like butterscotch! Fantastic! This place was my first taste of peruvian food, and in the beginning, I loved it. My first few visits were great. From the service to the food. The peruvian version of ceviche is the best! From the amount of lemon and spice... it's just perfect! Loma saltado is another great dish. The meat was cooked to perfection, and the rice and fries accompanied the dish well. The last few visits have not been so good. It's been a year now of bad experiences. The ceviche was old and not fresh on two occasions now. I ordered a steak dish on a recent visit, and unfortunately, the steak was raw and chewy. I know some chefs have a hard time cooking medium rare but I expect better from a place that has mostly steak dishes... Anyway, I'll be moving on to trying new peruvian restaurants around town. read more

Food: this is my very first time trying Peruvian dishes. They are very delicious! The flavors they use make me feel like a mix of Asian and Mexican and Spanish ingredients. Very flavorful and tasty! I'd recommend order different types of protein and carbs to try all of them but my personal favorite is the seafood noodles. Service: the staff were super nice and warm to recommend some of their signature dishes. They are also very patient as well. This place. This place is just really good! I've always door dashed it, but finally went in with friends! I went with friends on a Friday night and we all ordered a lot of different things and everything was delicious. The restaurant is in a little shopping center and has easy parking all around. It's really nice on the inside, though a bit on the smaller side, however the service is great because of the size. We ordered the grilled octopus, anticuchos (sliced beef heart), and the ceviche trio and it was all delicious. The ceviche mixto and the anticuchos were especially delicious. Sooooo good. But the grilled octopus was also super tasty. Food wise, 3 people got the lomo saltado, two people got the bistec a la pobre and someone got the shrimp soup. The lomo was REALLY good, super tender meat and tasty rice. The bistec was very, very tasty and a good chunk of steak. The shrimp soup was also very good and tasted a little bit like red pozole. Drinks wise, we ordered a liter of chica morada and of course it was super tasty. Definitely one of the better Bay Area meals I've had. read more

Had a lovely dinner here. The space is casual and comfortable. The waitress was very attentive, knowledgeable, and sweet. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We really liked their fried potato ball with beef (a special not on the menu). Also got the ceviche trio which was a hit for the group, and the octopus was my favorite as far as appetizers - very tender. As for entrees, I enjoyed the lomo saltado and the seafood paella most. The paella was very creamy, almost like risotto. Also got the lamb, which was a bit tough and too salty - this one I wouldn't recommend. Inka's is such a gem! We visited for dinner on a Friday evening, and found the restaurant mostly empty. The ambiance was casual and very unassuming - no mood lighting, minimal decor, etc. For drinks, I ordered the Mango Lemonade, which I really liked. I was worried it would be too sweet, but it was well balanced, considering it was more Mango than Lemonade. For food, the four of us decided to split everything family-style, which is absolutely the way to go here. We got the Chicharron de Pollo, Trio de Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, Arroz Con Marisco, and Yuca Frita. The Chicharron de Pollo was honestly nothing special, so I would skip this one in the future. Everything else however, was fantastic. The Trio de Ceviche was so flavorful, and I loved the wide variety. The beef in the Lomo Saltado was so well cooked and juicy. The Arroz Con Marisco was probably my favorite dish of the bunch - creamy, delicious, with the softest scallops and a generous amount of tasty seafood. The Yuca Frita also had a great texture and we really liked the dipping sauce it came with. Portion sizes were substantial, and we ended up with leftovers to take home. I also couldn't resist ordering the Lucuma Ice Cream for dessert, since I'd never tried it before. I expected it to be fruity (since Lucuma is a fruit), but it tasted more like maple or caramel. Either way, it was delicious, and the 3 scoops of ice cream were perfect for sharing. Pricing was reasonable and service was pretty quick. Overall, this place should be way more popular than it is - will definitely return! read more

We decided to venture out and try Peruvian food this evening. We weee greeted by the hostess and was seated after they cleaned a larger table for us. I eye balled the paella and ordered that. We ordered the steak for the kids, some ceviche sampler, chicken and veggies plate and I also ordered a Peruvian juice drink which was refreshing. Our steak was cooked pretty well. It was chewy and even with a steak knife it was difficult to cut. The tres ceviche sampler was decent. I liked the one that had avocado/a little mango in it. What I thought was weird is that when we were served the sampler we weren't provided any chips or anything to eat it with. We had to ask and then they provided the chips. I liked the paella. It needed more pepper though but overall I ate half of it and was full. Not sure if it is Peruvian food but I felt the food was heavily salted. The ceviche was salty but luckily I had a drink and chips to help balance it. I would come again to try other types of food. The atmosphere was casual and clean. I think my other gripe was that the waiters smelled of smoke when they rushed back in from their breaks. read more

We shared this with three people so we would have room for our main dishes. I had lomo saltado, at the table we also had seafood mariscos and seafood saltado. The seafood mariscos was my favorite but both saltados were delicious! The service was quick and attentive! Will absolutely be ordering here again. This place is amazing, it's a hidden gem in the South Bay just off HWY-280. I love the Pescado alo Macho, all of my taste buds arise as soon as the silky buttery sauce hit my tongue, the fish was made to perfection - so very tasty! I also tried the chicha morada drink they make, it is out of this world very refreshing, earthy with a lot of tannin, it tastes like a good cabernet sauvignon without the alcohol, I never thought it is even possible yet here I am enjoying every bit of it. I just found out about this place, the gentleman behind the counter said they have been around for about three and a half years, I wish I had found out sooner. read more

I'm into Perú Taking over for the similarly themed Peruvian restaurant, Isabella's, Inka's is owned by two brothers from Perú who have a bit of restaurant experience; including Jess's Place in South SJ, as well as their former SF-based version of Inka's (yelp.to/dkBTmilxpo), which closed in 2013. The Good: *Service was friendly, fast, and efficient *Ask for their housemade green hot sauce; tons of flavor, and it brings the heat. *Décor and ambiance are great for a casual dinner or a date night. *I am always up to trying foreign-made beers and they mostly seem like generic American beers, but the Cuzqueña was utterly fantastic. Sweet, bold, and just the right malty bitterness. It reminded me of a lighter stout. *Carissa loved her Pollo Saltado, as it was seasoned perfectly and had lots of great flavor. *I tried the ceviche trio sampler, and while they were all delicious, fresh, and seasoned well, the Tiradito was utterly fantastic and extremely moreish. Evidently, it's a type of ceviche made by Japanese immigrants to Perú and I could totally see it being served in any Sashimi joint with its thin, delicate cuts of hamachi in a spicy citrus sauce. I'm definitely getting a bowl of just this next time we visit. The Meh: *No outdoor seating *Papa a la Huancaína app was just OK. The mustard-based sauce was phenomenal, but the taters were just boiled and tasted a bit old and underseasoned. The Ugly: *Neighborhood is a bit rough, and the parking can be a bit tight as they share the lot with quite a few other businesses. There is some street parking but good luck in this hood. TLDR: Delicious Peruvian food in a classy, relaxed atmosphere with great service. What's not to love?? read more

Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall, Inka is the spot for Peruvian seafood. We began our meal with the grilled octopus, which featured a nice char and rich grilled flavor. For our entrees, we chose the lamb shank with cilantro sauce and the seafood paella. The lamb was incredibly tender, literally falling off the bone, while the paella was well-balanced and packed with seafood. We felt both portions were generous. We finished our meal with lucuma ice cream, imported from Peru, which was a nice finale to our dining experience. Overall, we had a wonderful meal at Inka with friendly and attentive staff.
