Inland Pacific Kitchen opened their doors a couple of weeks ago, and let me just tell you that Spokane has been starving for a place like this. Chef Jeremy raised the culinary scene about 3 bars with this creation. You might recognize his name or his meticulous craft from his restaurant Sante, located downtown, which he started with his wife. Now that he has created a staff and restaurant that can maintain itself, he decided to move on and start another restaurant, which brings us to Inland Pacific Kitchen. At Inland Pacific Kitchen, each menu is designed to tell a story. The dishes are served as "small plates" and they are meant to be shared. Each one is about 8-10 bites each. We spent about 3 hours eating our dinner and we were so comfortable the whole time. This is one of the lovely benefits to Inland Pacific Kitchen. They have the best chairs around. There will be no hurry turning tables and you will never feel like you are being rushed out of your seat. Chef Jeremy is passionate about sharing time with loved ones over food and creating memories around the dinner table. The timing with their dish service was impeccable. As soon as we would finish one and have time to process what we had just eaten and chat, the next dish was presented in front of us. An awesome feature at Inland Pacific Kitchen are the table lamps they have at the front of the bar. This allows you to be able to see your dish and appreciate the craftsmanship that went into its creation. In addition to being able to see your dish in a dim restaurant, you get to watch the chefs at work the entire time you are eating. Their kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant. This added so much to the overall ambiance to the restaurant. It also keeps them accountable in the kitchen as they have to keep everything immaculate and professional. read more

High Hopes for this place .. still. I think these guys are on to something and this is simply a review of the soft opening for feed back. I am open to trying again and providing additional stars as warranted. Review of Soft Opening on 12/28: Arrived 15 min before reservation and was escorted to sister bar, Hogwash, downstairs (which was awesome and we will be back for drink and to try food). Hostess said they were attempting to stay precisely on time for reservations and would we mind waiting until 7p exactly; she would come and get us. Weird, given empty tables, but no problem for opening nights. She came for us at 7:30p .. 30 minutes after reservation. Side note: I love the Building and am so glad it is getting use .. Terrain at first and now IPK and the whiskey bar. Nice move. And, the build out and design for IPK is lovely .. truely. I would scrap the single 4 top next to the corner of the bar that makes the flow of the restaurant impossible, but the bar is phenomenal and the restaurant really quite nice. We sat to dine and were asked about drink. Check. Tasted a couple wines and made a selection. Nice. The wine selection could be larger and more varied. Cocktails were spot on. We tried: Bread and Butter. Fantastic and can't beat the price at $0. Serving as a course was a bit weird. Would prefer to have with other food, i.e. the goat cheese salad needed something to eat with it. It would have been great to have the B&B. I'm not sure what you did to the butter but everyone should do it! Side note .. we were brought warm towels to clean our hands mid way through B&B course. Strange. I am guessing it was meant to be first which is a nice touch. It made for some light banter. Server did not deliver much information re the menu but was able to answer questions. Glad we asked so that we knew to share all plates. Chef courses the dishes ordered and only comment there is to mix up the categories so there is always a non-meat course on the table. Not good when the veg-heads can only eat at certain courses. Next course was: Cauliflower with Chocolate and spices. Sounded strange and tasted wonderful. Also, cooked perfectly. Well done. Whole table agreed. At the same time, we had the peanut miso ramen dish. This was not good. Edible but not good. Noodles were soggy; no peanut flavor at all, sunchoke and nori were lost on any flavor or addition of any sort, and I never saw or tasted green onion. 3rd course: Salmon Beet Cured. Prettiest dish of the night and salmon was delish .. plain but delish. That + fennel was the end of the dish. Beets added nothing but color, basil seeds added beauty but there was no additional taste or smell from the other ingredients. Feta Chs Salad .. again edible but not good. The crumbled feta was all you tasted and nothing special about it. It overpowered the prosciutto but the orange and pepper oil came through IF you got some. The balance on this guy was way off. Less cheese, more meat, more pepper oil and orange, and maybe some sort of micro greens? We ordered the Octopus but it did not come. BOO. I love Octopus. 4th course: peking game hen. I think it was probably spot on. I have had peking duck in China and presentation, etc. was similar on the bird. Admittedly, this was not my pick and not my favorite thing. The plum sauce likely right but way too sweet for me with the 5 spice very fwd on the dish. And, the cabbage noticeably missing. I think for the right person, this would have been a good choice. We did not order the pork and likely should have. Same for deserts. We will be back to try eel and pork and for drinks at the sister bar. I would suggest that the "accoutrement" on all dishes, i.e. the bit of veggies or greens, etc. be of a larger more balanced portion to the main attraction, at least to allow bits of all ingredients to be eaten together in a bite. What an amazing place! We went for our 40th anniversary and we're very happy with the whole experience. The food was beautiful and incredibly delicious! There's all the other restaurants in Spokane and then there is Inland Pacific. Have never had a meal that was excellent there and then our meal this week was just over the top excellent. Maybe one of the best meals ever, from the top of the Winter Menu to the bottom, every dish extraordinary. A beautiful space, informative servers, extensive and creative menus, fabulous flavors, gorgeous plating and you'll want to get two of the desserts. I went to a Saturday night dinner with my daughters for a special treat. Hadn't been out with them for a very long time. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The menu and experience was explained and we went all in. Wonderful, creative food and delicious drinks. The chef surprised us with extra oysters so that we could each have more than one and the bartender made yummy mock tails for my girls. We ate mostly vegetarian/pescatarian and it was sooo good. Not somewhere that we can go often, but this will now be our special occasion establishment. But worth every penny. read more

This was our second time going there, this time for a birthday celebration. We knew it was a small plate establishment but we didn't expect it to be shrinking plates. We ate with one other couple and ordered plates for the table. To be fair, the food was very flavorful and well plated. However..... The $12 plate of cauliflower was served with 3 cauliflower florets....not even enough for each person to have a floret!?! How much extra does it cost to give a floret to each person at the table??? The following dish was the $15 roasted parsnips, or more correctly parsnip as it was a SINGLE parsnip!? We had this same dish when dinning here 2 months ago and received 3 good sized parsnips with all the fixings....have parsnips really become that much more expensive?!? The squash soup was delicious. The 4 entrees ordered were flavorful but the wagyu beef was a bit overpriced for what you got as well (about 1/2-1 oz). I am more than happy to pay well for a good meal and I'm really hoping this place makes it as I love the creativity and flavor of their dishes a. But unfortunately this meal was lacking - 3 cauliflower florets for a table of 4 and $15 for a parsnip just doesn't cut it. read more

Inland Pacific​ Kitchen is exactly what Spokane needs. I went there when it was extremely busy, I sat at the bar and was still treated as well as the diners at tables. I was already impressed with​ their service.... but Then I had their food. Each course was better than the one prior​ and​​ I still crave their amazing cheesecake​ with those passion fruit "ball type" things. It was pehnomal. Everything was fresh and delicious​. In addition​, the BARTENDER! Man was he amazing. Probably the best bartender in Washington. He was kind, friendly, informative​, very respectful, and he did his job remarkably. He really made the whole experience​ for he is a prime example of how you should run a bar/restaurant​. ​​ The reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is that​ of the change to implementing an a la carte menu. This was a great experience! We all agreed it was more like dining in San Francisco than what is typical in Spokane. There were four of us and we ordered one of everything on the menu. What a treat! I was in town on business. I've been to great restaurants in Seattle, but I'll never forget this one. I had a 9-course wine pairing dinner, so I was able to try a lot of things. A confused and overpriced version of The Wandering Table. The chef messed up our plates numerous times... missed components of dishes, a bug, and a raw game hen.... and then proceeded to get in a spat with our server over it... Our server came to our table almost in tears... and told us she was probably walking out and quitting on the spot. While the chef did try to mend fences and offer to comp our meal.... it was all so incredibly unprofessional. Even without the missteps.... the food wasn't great. My husband and I had our anniversary date here, with the tasting menu. Out of the ten dishes, three were really good. The dishes came very slow, we were there from 6:45 until after 11pm. We were told later in the evening that there are normally two chefs, and there was only one that night. We should have been told this at the beginning of the night, and offered the option to switch to the normal menu. One of the dishes was almost inedible due to crunchy charcoal bits that overwhelmed the dish with bitterness, and on another dish my husband's salmon was raw while mine was perfectly cooked. They re-fired it for us, thankfully. My husband had the wine pairing, which was really good. I had a mocktail, which tasted like soda on top and pure simple syrup at the bottom. I was not offered another drink for the remaining 4+ hours of the evening. We walked out sleepy and $325 poorer, after a $50 gift card. We will not be returning. read more

For those looking to try something different from the typical chain restaurant fare that is definitely classified as "gourmet," look no further than Inland Pacific Grill. The food is beyond just tasty. We had the pork belly, chicken, and winter squash. The amalgamation of flavors tasted with each bite made me savoring for more! Unfortunately, that's the thing --- wanting more. More than the minuscule portion sizes that were served. Two slices of port belly. Five small slices of chicken. All of this split between four adults. As this was our first time to visit Inland Pacific Kitchen, we found it odd that the waiter was suggesting that we should double our order for a "full meal." At $15-$20 a dish on top of drinks, we thought that's a pricey meal that could add up quickly. We should have heeded what the waiter said. While the food was absolutely amazing, given the portion sizes, we left still hungry. Therefore, I recommend going someplace else first, getting partially full, and then close out your dinner at IPK. Otherwise, you're going to craving Jack In The Box to round out your evening meal soon after. It is for this reason that I give IPK four out of five stars. read more

As a rule I avoid vegan food and would never choose to eat somewhere that did not have any meat on the menu. Maybe it's the attitude of smug superiority that most vegans display as much as my barbaric love for eating animal flesh but no matter. I found myself seated at inland pacific kitchen with my girlfriend and the server informed us that they had just switched to a plant based menu for spring and that dishes were 5-8 bites each and meant to be shared. My being a simple and unapologetic American, my first thoughts are to leave, (are we seriously going to pay 17$ for 6 bites of rice and beans with a few leaves??!?) but this being somewhat of a special occasion and already seated, we decided to order a couple things. The food was absolutely delicious, amazing flavors, we ordered more. Best meal I've had in a while (though I did get a piece of fried chicken after). Great service and great food. 5 stars read more

Hands down best food in town, and most interesting. Jason Moorby is an incredible bartender! Go prepared to spend money, it's worth it. Nothing is bad, but be sure to order whatever the current cauliflower offering is, it's revolutionary (and I don't like cauliflower). I will start off by saying the atmosphere is great. That is about all. We started out with a giant bug in one of our dishes. They took it back and brought us a new one. We didn't think anything of it. After two more mess ups on our dishes, we got our main courses, which consisted of raw game hen. This is unacceptable for the service industry. Our waitress apologized profusely, but when the chef came out, he simply shrugged and stared at us. He then told us we were the worst table they've had. What he meant was that we got the most messed up dishes in a row, but it came off like it was our fault. Our waitress then came back to our table and seemed very unprofessional with a lot of swearing and almost crying about the experience. I felt bad for her, but at the same time I feel like she should have been a touch more professional. We won't be back. read more

What a nice surprise this restaurant is. Spokane is continuing to up its food-game and IPK is leading the charge. While I initially found the menu a little pretentious in its descriptions (along with being disappointed that the tasting menu had to be ordered in advance), the execution of the food was spot on. The plates are meant for sharing, which was bit challenging when it came to both the potato and carrot dishes...I basically didn't want to share. The flavors are unique and bold. The chef definitely does not under-season (in a good way). I give it a 4, rather than 5, as I feel the desserts need a bit more work. The savory side is refined and presentation is well attended to. The dessert end is lacking some of the same....it isn't as polished. The flavors were basically very good, but could use some fine tuning, and attention to plating. Price of a meal with drinks and dessert is more than reasonable. I left saying that IPK was a place I could eat at once a week and not get bored. read more

Tried this last night. The restaurant space is really beautiful and comfortable. It took a good half hour or more to get a drink and although they say they have a full bar, they have no mixers, no sodas or even fruit juices and no coffee. I was with a party of five and we ordered 7 plates plus bread. I couldn't believe it was $3 for a single slice of bread. At any rate, the dishes served were beautifully put together and tasted amazing but each plate offered about 1-2 bites for each of us. Incredibly small servings. I spent $30 and left hungry. The chefs do such a wonderful job, I just would've preferred to order a meal that would leave me satisfied rather than hungry. read more

I had very high hopes for IPK as Sante is one of my favorite restaurants in Spokane. I was disappointed to not be able to find the door, unmarked and took several calls and asking directions to finally find the restaurant only to provide feedback that they are hard to find and having the host person say "it's my first night and I had problems finding it too"???hmmm.... We were seated and I smacked my knees on the table several times before figuring out how to sit without having that issue. My husband is a scotch aficionado and was served "neat" as heated which was not good. After careful explanation of how scotch should be served neat, they brought a glass of ice and warm scotch so that we could figure it out to our taste. My Manhattan was lovely. The servers struck a home run by getting all three courses wrong when serving the table, always serving my dishes to my husband and vice versa. The 3 course pre-fixe meal was ramen, this was ok except my gray egg was un-appetizing and the pork main dish was overdone, as was my catfish dish. The catfish did not have enough sauce to go with the five bites advertised (enough sauce for 2 of the 5 bites). Dessert was ok but flavors were un-identifiable. There was no coffee service to go with dessert which was a disappointment. I wasn't expecting full blown espresso bar, but simple brewed coffee that would have gone well with ice cream. I was disappointed, and would think that since it has been open for a couple months that they would have worked out some of these kinks. I will try it again in a year, in hopes they work out these start up type issues. I wish them well as the atmosphere and space was pleasant, upbeat and contemporary. read more

Disappointing and expensive. The cocktail was great -- the Charlotte Sometimes. Other than that... not good. Went for restaurant week. Ramen was enh. For the mains, we had the pork tenderloin and the catfish. The pork tenderloin was dry with a mediocre sauce. It had a hint of a smokey flavor -- which I guess the idea is make an overcooked bit of pork, then blow smoke on it, and viola an overcooked bit of meat with a hint of smoke. The catfish was better, but overcooked. So it was quite dry. The vanilla smoked gelato didn't taste good. I did not finish it. The saffron orange gelato was alright. So $100 for a disappointing dinner. read more

Review of soft opening on 12/29. Couldn't find the entrance as it was unlit and unmarked. Speakeasy, like. Inside it's an excellent brick space and very easy to chat in spite of all the hardscape; music was unobtrusive mostly. The space sure demands classy music like jazz, instrumental samba, something cool. Our small plates came out one or several at a time paced well. We were asked if we wanted butter knives which really should just be a given, with the delicious bread plated with a schmear of butter. But $2 for two slices? Really? At the end of the meal we could have bought the loaf instead of 6 slices. The organization of the menu was a bit confusing: Forest? Should I order forest today? Or maybe Plant? Hard to browse but perhaps this is a trend to classify food by source rather than by when you might want to eat it. The shrimp plate (sorry, remembering from afar) was spectacularly tasty with numerous textures such that each bite was a revelation. Cauliflower, as well. Game hen was succulent and tasty while the pork chunks seemed dry and inelegantly served. I couldn't get any takers at my table to sample elk tartar with me so had to let that one go. Beet salad tasted good but chunks would better imply they were fresh rather than canned. Plenty of smoke here and there in flavors but the two desserts with at least one smoky were a disappointment. Who's the audience/consumer for this restaurant? We wished it well and hope that there will be some menu tweaks and some additions to draw in eaters perhaps not quite ready for pushing the envelope in every course. read more
