Only 1 server was on staff on a Saturday afternoon. The place wasn't busy and we were told by the hostess that it would be 5 minutes. Our server was pleasant and very helpful. I've been here too many times to count. Back in town for Christmas, I had to stop in and see how they were doing. I'm happy to report that this place still has the charm, food, service, and atmosphere that makes it a must stop for a relaxed, pub experience with a Youngstown flare. The calzones are great. I always get sauce on the side. The wings are very good too. I don't think I've ever been here that I didn't get the Circle Salad. The Italian dressing is perfect Their beer selection has always been diverse and quality. I wish they had more than Penguin City from a local craft perspective. I'll be honest, I didn't get their pizza often when I lived here, but we didn't eat much pizza. When we did, we opted for Sam's in Newton Falls, but IC was a close second when we wanted more diverse topping options. I don't recall ever being disappointed. Service at the bar on this visit was stellar. If Polina is working the bar, you'll be in for a treat. This was my first encounter with any Inner Circle Pizza eatery and it will be the last. There were 8 in our party; all on separate checks. We had paper placemats showing the menu and prices. It took some time for the waitress to come to the table to even take our drink orders. As she was taking the orders I heard someone ask for Cauliflower crust for their pizza so I asked if the Boss Pizza I was ordering from the right side of the menu (which I pointed to) under "Specialty Pizzas" came with a Cauliflower crust. She said it did so I asked for The Boss Pizza (which had 4 meats) with a Cauliflower crust. Little did I know that the $13.99 8" pizza I was ordering (and expecting maybe a small upcharge for the crust) would turn out to be $19.99 in a 10" "gluten free pizza from the opposite side of the menu charging $1.50/each of the 4 meat toppings that was on the Boss! I feel the waitress should have pointed that out since I would never pay $19.99 for a 10" pizza, especially the quality that came out! She was complicit in the deception! The quality was so poor that what I took home wasn't even fit to be consumed after reheating in my air fryer. Most other restaurants I frequent employ waitresses that are quick to tell you of any upcharges and ask if that's okay. And since there were 8 in our party, each paying separately, we were each charged a 20% "gratuity" of our charges on our bills for "a party of 8 or more" as printed on the menu, poor service or not! It's not that this place used to be great, but it never was THIS bad. My wife's comment was "this pizza is worse than what they served in the cafeteria in high school" and she's not wrong. How you screw up pizza I don't know, but I suppose a combination of undercooked, unsalted dough, and bland sauce would be great starting points if your goal was to serve above-room-temperature disappointment. Their sandwiches had always been good enough, but even that's not true anymore. Again, nothing is salted, so they're relying on the natural flavors (lol) of mass produced frozen meats from Sysco. The fries are still pretty good, though that's such a low bar to clear that I don't know how much it matters. It's not as if French fries are some novelty with limited availability. The wings are good, but again, everyone sells good wings at this point so there's no huge value add. The service is lousy, which for 2024 isn't a huge shocker, but it adds another reason to simply go elsewhere (or really just stay home). It shouldn't take almost an hour to get food out to a table of four on a weeknight. I think the premise of this place has shifted from casual family dinning to catering to the barstool crowd who 1.) consume higher margin draft beers, and 2.) are probably ambivalent about the quality of the food (because of said beers). That's fine if you're going for that kind of business, there's money to be made in that space. The dip was as good as it usually is. I ordered the spinning bowl salad. Every spinning bowl salad I've ever had in Youngstown was lettuce, hard boiled egg, croutons, and dressing. This one has bacon bits all throughout it and I couldn't eat it as I can't eat bacon. We also ordered the eggplant parm pizza. I have gone here three times. I was suprised how good it was. I used to eat and drink at the YSU campus Inner Circle 33 years ago (when I was 17, hey, things were different then...) and thought that was OK. A few months ago, went to this one in Canfield. Now, I was no fan of I.C. pizza. I thought the dough was too bready and undercooked. This place changed my mind. And the interior is very very nice. Great seating, lots'o'TV's, and the service was really good. Now is my second favorite pie. Cornersburg (in Cornersburg) is #1, Belleria in cornersburg is barely #2 (I hate it since they closed the sit down restaurant, and the manager is a schlemiel) and Inner Circle in Canfield is #3. (although my wife would probably say Elmton is #1, and drop Cornersburg pizza off the list entirely). They have a great varied menu, the pizza is very good, the service is good, and you get great service. And the decor (I hate that word) is very nice as well. The only reason I do not give a five star, is because no pizza deserves five stars. Go here, with friends, or after golf, or with your family and young children. Probably the worst meal I have had ever. Our appetizer of hot chips came out burnt. The waiter Dustin did ask if we wanted them remade, but we were told by the next table to us that Dustin had already had a rough night with other customers concerning their food, so we declined. This is not the first time I have had bad service and sub-par food at this restaurant. Options for pizza and wings in Canfield are limited, so we ventured to try it again. BUT, as you can see by the star rating it didn't work out for us. First, it took us 20 minutes to even be acknowledged once we were seated. Once we placed our order it took another 40 minutes to get the food. The little bit of salad dressing we did receive didn't even cover 1/3 of the salad, we asked for additional dressing and never received it. The wings came out with 0 to no sauce on them, even the waitress acknowledged that and took them back to get more sauce, which we were charged for. There were 3 of us and the waitress only gave us 2 sets of utensils and never returned with the 3rd so we had to share, we asked for additional napkins and never got them, I had to go to the bar and get napkins which then I was interrogated as to why I needed them. REALLY? We ordered wings!!!! The pizza was not good, sauce tasted old. This place used to be the place to go for good food and service, but lately not so much! MY wife and I visited here FOR the first time last week and food was good. Bartender Andrick struck up conversation to tell us how he was working here temporarily as he had just graduated law school. My wife and I are both retired executives from a retail service company and financial service company. My wife offered to get him an interview at her company and took the time to reach out to her CEO to see if they had opening for a lawyer. She did so and we actually went out of the way to drop by and give him the CEOs personal cell number. Just went in today and sat at the bar and Andrick waited on us. My wife ordered a martini from the drink menu and after a rather lengthy wait was informed by Andrick they were out of one of the ingredients. He gave her a drink menu and came back 10 minutes later and she placed an order of another drink. Instead of fulfilling her order Andrick floated around the bar talking to what I perceive as regulars and messing with TVs. After about 20 minutes he came back to our side of the bar and continued to refill other peoples drinks and converse with customers. When he passed by my wife flagged him down and said "excuse me, can I get a drink and we have been ready to order". Andricks response was " that no one talks to me like this. Just get out now!! At that point I advised him that we would not as all we were asking for was to be served. He threatened to call the police. My reply was "for what? Asking that you wait.on us? Andrick started cursing using the MF word in front of everyone at the bar so we left. My wife and I have been together for 35 years and never have we have we been asked to leave any establishment. Andrick was the rudest snow flake I have ever encountered and not suited to serve the public nor does he have the temperament to be a member of a state's bar.
