It was ok. I'm not as big of a sweet-aholic as my hubby, but he also just felt it was ok. We had been at a Barons game and Bubbe wanted to take our son for an after-treat. I had heard this place was amazing, so we hit it up. There was a wait, being a Saturday night--and I can't say I'd do it again. I didn't mind the wait, it just wasn't all that exciting to me. We got a couple of cookies with ice cream in the middle, because regulars had promised us we couldn't mess that up. You know, I'm just not into this glorified ice cream sandwich thing that is going on these days. They are pricey and so-so. I've ordered online for delivery and visited the store in person. Both times, the cookies were delicious! Delivery was prompt and my order was easy to place and correct. The one issue I have is when we went to the actual store on a weekday afternoon, they only had one person working. She was extremely friendly, but seemed overwhelmed at having to bake, clean, run the register, fill delivery orders...in the few minutes I was there, about 8 other customers came in. She maintained an upbeat attitude and was as efficient as she could be, but she was swamped! Other than that, everything has been great so far! The cookies are great! I especially like the ice cream sandwiches. However the customer service at the facility is horrible! It's been pretty consistent the few times I've been there. Maybe they're understaffed, but it generally takes a while before they even acknowledge a customer coming in. I have to ask them to use gloves after handling money. The last time I was there, the attendant got chocolate all over the outside of the bag. When I asked for another bag she told me there's nothing she can do about it. I cant give a ZERO, but certainly does not deserve 1 star. This is my 2nd order from Insomnia and for the 2nd time, I am very unhappy with my experience. My first was an in store purchase in which the employee seemed annoyed with the customers. She was down right rude to a customer. The customer asked her a question about a package which she could not answer which was a simple math question - if I am ordering for (?) which was the best deal? The customer and I agreed that employee seemed to be high or very sleepy. No insomnia here. My current experience is a corporate delivery. It was set for a meeting break that was 2:00 pm. The delivery time was supposed to be 1:45 pm. I checked my order tracker at 1:52 pm and the status is "baking"! It is now 35 minutes after delivery time and the break is now over. I call the "store" (a call center) and placed on hold for over 6 minutes. I was told the driver left the store over 5 minutes ago. I advised the break was over but was told they could not cancel the order since the driver had already left. I was advised to just refused it. The order is already paid for by corporate credit card and would take days to issue a refund through the accounting system. I advise the rep that I would in fact write as many negative reviews as I possibly can. The time is now 2:40 and the order is 1 hour late and I still haven't received the order. It's cookie dough out of a box that is baked. This is a poorly ran store Insomnia!!! NO EXCUSE!!! read more

Placed an online order and went inside the store to pick it up. Waited 20 minutes for cookies they were out of. They placed in my box and my sisters box cookies that were ready. Got to the car and took a look in the box and realized a cookie was missing from her order. Went back into the store to let employees know and they stated we gave you the cookie already. Worker in the back chimed in yeah I put the cookie In your sisters box. After stating, they in fact did not place the cookie in either box they demanded I come back in with my box to prove we weren't trying to dupe them out of a free cookie. After insinuating that we were trying to steal a $3 cookie from them after spending $20+ on said cookies I asked to have the managers name and contact information. Employee who clocked in at 7:00pm on August 3, 2020 and worked the register refused to give that information. She claimed they were not allowed to share that information. I then asked for her name. She refused to share that as well. I asked how was I to let someone know about the "help" I received today. She said leave a review. So here is my review. They have the yummiest cookies! They arrive warm and gooey, and they stay soft for quite some time. I love stopping by when I'm walking around on the South Side, and I like ordering them up when I have a hankering for cookies at 1:30 in the morning. I went last night with couple of friends around 12 and had the absolute worst service I've ever experienced. The employees were extremely rude all night. The first employee screamed at several guests to not block the door, it's inevitable because the location is extremely small with little seating available. When we finally got to order the cashier swiped my card several times and instead and letting me know there was a problem, she completely ignored me and kept trying to run it through. The next employee was a young white guy who decided to was smart to smash a carton of ice cream on top of a warm brownie before handing it to me over the counter? Not sure if the employees are on drugs but everyone in this location seemed "off" and weird. Definitely will not be returning. The desert was overpriced and definitely not worth the wait. read more

I've only had insomnia cookies once, and it was there chocolate chip cookie, but it was one of the greatest cookies I have ever eaten. It was closer to a religious experience than a consumption of food. I had heard Insomnia Cookies was the bomb and I finally made my way over to try it out... honestly, I don't think I was as impressed as all of my friends. I tried the double chocolate mint cookie, which was warm and delicious. I did like that they also offered ice cream, but what immediately struck me as soon as I walked in was... they don't have a very large variety of cookies! They have the usual favorites, but I like the cookie specialty shops that make fun, unique cookies. Even if they had seasonal or a "flavor of the week" and changed it up every week, that would heighten the appeal of this place. I would like to see bananas foster, red velvet, oreo cream, something with caramel, just something out of the ordinary. I'm giving this place 4 stars because the wait staff was super nice and accomodating and my cookie was pretty good. What they do, they do well... This is my FAVORITE late night dessert place. I had heard so much about it and I finally went for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The cookies are warm and soooo delicious, but they are a little more on the pricier side. It is a small store, so there is usually a long line. HORRIBLE customer service. Today I walked in and a lady came out from the back, looked at me and disappeared for roughly 2-3 minutes. I was debating whether to leave or not but then she finally came out and ordered my cookie and was on my way. Tonight I had some friends over so at 7:33 I ordered 12 cookies 4 different types of 3 cookies each. I was told 30 minutes and after an hour of waiting I called to check in and they said they were on the way. So 10 minutes later the guy showed up and delivered the cookies. Granted, it's my fault I didn't open the box at the door and count the cookies but he only delivered 8 cookies total even though the receipt on the box said 12. I called back to the store and they assured me they would reliever the missing 4 right away. Well as you guessed, they never showed up. I went there one night and was blown away at just the interior! It was very cute and the menu was very easy to read. The staff there was amazing, but the best thing about it was the cookies! They were warm, soft, and the chocolate was gooey. I normally don't like soft cookies, but this was an exception! I came here wanting to order a dozen cookies, I've heard a lot about this place and was excited to try it out. When I walked inside, there were two people working. One of these employees was at the register and the other was in the back on his phone. The girl at the register proceeded to tell me that I would need to wait a minute while she counted the money in the register, so I did. I stood there and she counted the money twice and proceeded to get her calculator out and recount it. At this moment, I gave up and left without hearing another word for either of the employees. The white chocolate macadamia cookie is one of their best!! Anticipate to eat them when they're warm, but never cold. I wouldn't recommend the cookie cake though, it's a waste of money for its size.
