I love Insomnia cookies and vastly prefer it over Red Eye Cookie Co. I know, I know--Red Eye is local and kind of exclusive to Richmond (and Charlottesville), and Insomnia is a franchise--but I think Insomnia's cookies are hugely superior, and I've never had a late delivery from them. I've had a couple instances where they've run out of milk and they'll go to the on-campus Walmart and pick some up for me to make up for it. Their delivery never takes more than 30 minutes, and the cookies always arrive hot and gooey. My order has never been mixed up, either. The also serve brownies with toppings, which I've tried, but personally, the cookies are where Insomnia really shines. I recommend their deluxe cookies, particularly the triple chocolate chunk and peanut butter cup. They're huge and soft, too! About the side of a salad plate. It's really difficult for me not to eat them all at once! Plus, they're open super late as well! A bonus for late night cookie cravings! I will keep ordering from them! read more

Can't comment on delivery, but these cookies are delicious! They're great warm but still good when they cool down (which is nice so we don't feel pressured to eat them all in one go). We especially liked the snickerdoodle, mint chocolate, and chocolate chip cookies. They were fantastic! Lemon chip wasn't quite my taste, but still a really solid cookie and I'd recommend it to folks who like lemon desserts. The peanut butter is *very* peanut butter, so just be prepared. These are some of the best cookies! Stopped by on our way home after a visit to VCU and we devoured half of our cookies before barely making it onto the highway (so greedy). The cookies were so soft and perfectly warmed. They were a bit pricey but it was worth it. We ordered 2 snicker doodles, 2 sugar and 2 white chocolate macadamia nut. All were delicious. So, we just moved to RIchmond and are trying new food places. This was suggested to me over the other cookie place across the street. Well, I ordered 4 cookies (snickerdoodle, m&m, triple chocolate, and peanut butter cup). The first that struck me odd was the young man behind the counter first tried to put all 4 cookies in a cookie bag, really? That seemed either not too bright or cheap! He ended up putting my cookies in a box but here is my issue. So, you lay the cookies on top of each other? You know like 4 stacked high. When I opened the boxed all the cookies had molded together in middle and the edges (because he put the huge cookies on top of the small cookies all broke off) like a gross pile of hot cookies would do if you kid made them and piled them up like a tower. So my snickerdoodle tasted like peanut butter and they were all broken when I arrived home. If you want a good snickerdoodle go to Tropical Smoothie To me, a waste of 12 bucks. One and done. The last few times I've come to Insomnia the cookies have been hot and hard. They're being overbaked. When I go to Insomnia, I go looking for hot, soft, and chewy cookies. Ordered a dozen for delivery, which took about 45 minutes. Cookies were packed in a pizza type box and were obviously placed in the box directly out of the oven. The choc chip and pnut butter had practically melted on the bottom of the box in pools of grease spots (hopefully butter!). Not very appetizing to look at. Taste-wise, way too sweet. First had this place in Philly. So stoked for one to be in RVA. These cookies are so good. Especially when you eat them right away. So warm and gooey. They'll make ice cream sandwiches too. I just moved to Richmond for college about a month ago, I've had insomnia cookies a few times, and I LOVE their cookies. They're always so gooey and fresh. Every time I go in, it's a friendly face and environment. I also love to have them deliver because sometimes I'm too tired to go, and their delivery time is GREAT! My sister & I went to Insomnia Cookies for a quick dessert. Insomnia Cookies shop is small and very easy to miss if you're not paying attention. The smell of fresh baked cookies hit your nose shortly after entering. We had chocolate chip & peanut butter cookies. The cookies were soft and tasty. I could have eaten a dozen! Insomnia Cookies deliver within a certain radius. Parking can be a hassle, depending on day & time (located directly on VCU campus). Been here 2 or 3 times, and each time was great and perfect. Cookies are warm, tasty, and cheap. Ice cream too. Their small is a good amount and the blueberry cheesecake flavor tasted unique and perfect. I used to like Red Eye more, down the street, but last time I got it the cookie looked like it has been sitting out all day, but here it seems they make it fresh and I sometimes hear a "ding" noise from the oven so I think they actually make it fresh. $7 today got us two cookies and an ice cream. $7 at Cold Stone is like just one shake. read more

I've tasted a variety of their cookies but really the peanut butter cookies are the only ones I'm going back for. The snickerdoodle had a weird aftertaste and the chocolate mint was awful.
