I was able to go to their store on Industrial, purchase a battery and they installed it quickly (available for a small fee). When I called different auto parts stores for battery prices Interstate had the better price and a mechanic friend recommended this place. Overall staff was really nice and very helpful. Last week I discovered the coach battery on my Pleasureway RV was not holding a charge. I had the good fortune to have Tara as the installer for the new battery. She recommended a deep cycle battery for the coach rather than a cranking battery. She needed to perform some modifications to install the new battery which was slightly higher than the old battery. Well I found myself in an awkward position of being stranded with two kids on a hot day with a dead battery. I got a jump start and was told to go immediately to interstate battery and get a new one. Kindly I called ahead said I was on my way and if they needed any of my information which they said they did not and to come right down with zero further instructions. I got there within 10 minutes and pulled into a space and questioned "do I turn my car off?" Not knowing, I did. I unloaded my kids, trying to be cool and collected in this unexpected fiasco. I walked up to the service desk and a man greeted me and I told them my situation and he remembered my call. He asked if the car was still running and I said "no" he audibly sighed and tilted his head back in frustration and was irritated that I had turned the car off and had not parked in apparently the right parking spot. All information I would have happily accepted and followed if I was told when I called 10 minutes prior. I apologized for my negligence and for honesty not knowing the procedure as I've never been in this situation before. He walked away annoyed and another woman worker looked at me and mouthed "it's ok" as if she this was a common exchange he has with people. Being a woman, a mom with two little kids trying to take care of something completely out of my comfort zone I was shamed and embarrassed in front of other customers and workers. Thankfully I was assigned the sweetest man who completed my transaction and He took the time to explain everything to me and waived the installation fee of the battery and two fob batteries I also purchased. He probably is genuinely just a nice man but I also feel like the other workers have to make up for the jerk who seems to be in a managerial position so therefore out of their hands to get rid of. We called Interstate Batteries about purchasing a battery for our 2004 Toyota Siena van. They quoted a price of $215 and $40 to install and to bring it in on Friday January 27th around 9am. We arrived on time and went inside. There was a man inside behind the counter doing something. He didn't even acknowledge us, walked in the back room, was gone for a few minutes. He came back out and didn't ask if we needed help. We said can you help us and he said, oh I thought you were being helped!! I said we need a battery and have it installed and what we were told over the phone. His attitude was very rude. He said what we we're told was was wrong. He said the battery was $250 and $60 to install it. We questioned the amount and he said he couldn't do anything about it. He had a real attitude and was really rude. I've bought interstate batteries before but I won't set foot in this business again. The sales person needs to change his attitude or find a new job. read more

I've been coming here for years for my car battery needs but they really have everything! Batteries for cell phones watches regular old batteries you name it they've got it. Not to mention the customer service is excellent the employees are all very nice and helpful. I went in today with a dead car battery and not a lot of money to spend on it. Was told on phone that they replace terminals. When I got there they said they're getting away from it. Men in shop were apparently incapable of putting ends on and said I would have to wait for woman I talked with on phone to install. I felt maybe they were unhappy with her willingness. Last December I had to go on essential travel and I knew tht I was going to have to leave my van, a 2014 sprinter. This van, unlike past vans, has an automatic on feature. this means that the battery is run dry if it is allowed to sit for two weeks. As I was planning to leave it for a month, I went to Interstate to learn how to safely disconnect the battery. I work on the road for most of the year (that is when we are not in lockdown) and I use Interstate because, well they are in lots of states and I know I can get back up. The sales person was helpful, and showed me a not too expensive solar panel that would keep the battery fresh. I had my doubts, but when Tara intervened and suggested a slightly larger unit I figured I would go with her recommendation. She has helped me in the past with difficulties, and so I count her in my list of resources. Well my 1 month trip turned into 4 months and I was dreading what I was going to have to do to get the van started. Last time it too the bigger AAA truck and 2 batteries. Wow is all I have to say. Battery problems as of lately. Truck. Cordless home phone and wife's tooth brush. I know why not just use a manual brush. Sorry you don't know my wife. So I look on Utube to see how to replace the battery in the tooth brush. I show up at Interstate and this fabulous employee helps me. I show her my problem as she said step into my office. She builds a battery pack for me that I couldn't' do with the tools I have. Great price and what a great place for any battery needs. I didn't get her name, but she needs a raise. The true character of a person or a business is learned not when everything goes well, but when it doesn't. As a loyal customer for over twenty years (going back to their days off of Coffey Lane), I have never found reason to complain. I have purchased a dozen batteries or more over the years for vehicles, tractors and lawn mowers. Battery lifespans vary, but 3-4 years is the minimum in my experience. Some last many years longer. Unfortunately, I purchased a lemon of a battery last summer that died after ten months. I understand that clunkers come off the assembly line on occasion and the fact that I got one is not what disappoints. Rather, the first words out of the manager's mouth were that the manufacturer's warranty was only six months and I was beyond that time. No apology or any expression of concern that a product they sold was defective. Just a matter of fact statement that the warranty was expired and I was S.O.L. What this tells me is that the store relies exclusively on the manufacturer's warranty and accepts no responsibility of its own for what they sell. If the manufacturer wants to extend a warranty, fine, but not them. Well, I'm not doing business with the manufacturer. It's not the manufacturer I speak to, look in the eye, and give my money. It's the retailer. If the retailer takes no pride or responsibility for the product it sells, I might as well buy my next battery off of Amazon. In fact, I think I will. read more

Wow! Had that rarest of rare experiences here: true, good service. Bought a new battery (they had AGM battery in stock, ready to go). Online information characterized the installation for my vehicle as a "tough one". I was planning on spending a chunk of time doing it myself to avoid the high dealer cost. This is the only store I've given my credit card number to verbally and the last place to use the card -- within 4 days a long list of fraudulent charges started showing up. If you do not want to use your car for a few weeks just take it to Interstate Battery in Santa Rosa Ca. And after 2 weeks we finaly got the car back and customer service is taking the side of the Manager? The Manager "John" lied about the whole situation, from the kid who installed it incorrectly to the mechanic who worked on the car. Auto Japan took the side of Interstate stating it was "reverse polerety" ok so what is that? The battery that is in the car is the second battery, not the 1st one that sparked and blew the alarm system and fuses. The reason why we were told to take it to Auto Japan is because they are in this together to make the most money from there costomers. We live in a very sad world now so look out for yourselves and DO NOT USE INTERSTATE BATTERIES OR AUTO JAPAN IN SANTA ROSA CA! read more

I have been going to Interstate for 20 years. Last Saturday it took 2 people over 50 minutes to a put a battery in my car. Later that day it quit running while I was driving. I had just had the car serviced that week & all was fine except for the battery output. Thinking it could not be the battery I took it to my mechanic, had a loaner car, and got my car back the next day. The ONLY thing wrong was the battery cables were loose. I called & talked to the manager Charles. He said he trusted his senior tech Tara. I told him I was out $72 and would like half of it back. His reply was he would review installing batteries on my model of car. The people there are not the ones from 4 years ago. They are younger & do not seemed trained enough or care enough to keep my business. read more

My car battery died one morning before work-- a neighbor looked at it and suggested it might be time for a new one since my car is pushing 7 years old. I called Interstate and was helped quickly-- the sales associate told me exactly which battery my car would take, exactly how much it would cost to purchase and have it installed, and when the best time would be for me to come in. (If only all customer service was that good). I went into Interstate that afternoon, purchased my battery, and paid $20 to have it installed-- great deal. The only complaint I had was how hot it was, and there was no where to sit and wait either indoor or outdoor. It didn't bother me too much, as my battery was installed within 10-15 minutes. Had a battery replaced a few months back (not done by these folks). Had issues of the car starting, possibly because of a bad battery. During a jump start we realized the terminal was loose and this was probably the cause for our troubles. I decided to take it in to these folks anyway. (I was driving 200 some miles and didn't want any issues on the highway). The gentleman who helped us was very courteous and professional. He checked the battery (it was fine, it was the loose terminal that was causing the issue) cleaned everything up and even checked the alternator for me (I was concerned this may be the reason car wasn't starting properly). I asked him what I owed them and he said no charge. I would have been happy to pay something for the peace of mind knowing my car would run properly but appreciate the gesture. Fantastic customer service. I had a 4 year old Interstate battery that was dealer installed, and was dragging intermittently. Called in for a load test the battery, the 6 year guaranteed battery was failing. It was a Saturday the manager had it tested and recommended a better unit for my truck as I spend the winter in Truckee. Excellent service. My car was acting like the battery was bad. I heard that Interstate Battery tests batteries and alternators for free. I dropped in, and they helped me right away. My battery was almost completely dead. They offered to change it out right there, so I said yes. I even got money off the new battery because I still had warranty left on the old one. Also, because I had warranty left, I was not charged the install fee. The man who helped me was so nice, and honest about the warranty situation, when he could have not said anything and charged me the install fee. I highly recommend them. read more

My first one star review. Battery for home security system went dead. Checked it online to see model# & price and saw that there were 2 different types of connections (F1 & F2). The store was very clean & nicely organized. Counter person takes my old battery & brings new one out. I asked her if the connection was F1 because it looked different. She answers Yes w/o even looking at the battery. Sure enough, it did not fit. Even when I came back to exchange for the right one, she had "I don't wanna be bothered and I could not care less" kind of attitude. An apology would have gone a loooong way. A two star review is supposed to mean, "Meh, I've experienced better". The "better" in this case is the old Interstate, the one that was knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. Today, I went by to have my 3 year old Interstate battery checked out. (1.) Testing, (took 2 people, two tries to figure out the meter and results) (2.) I was give the wrong replacement price by three different people in the store. They said because of the battery's age I could have a 25% discount. Later I found that I was actually entitled to a 45% discount! I don't think they were being dishonest, they just didn't know how to process a simple return and exchange. Believing that the price of a replacement battery was going to be around $150, I went and bought an Interstate battery somewhere else for less, but still more than it would have been here if they had given me the correct guaranty discount. This used to be my "go to" place for all sorts of batteries. It's sad that the place seems to have gone down hill. Hope that they can pull it together in the future. read more

I like to buy batteries here, because unlike Walmart or Costco, the staff here really knows batteries. They have a good range of specialty accessories, like cables, clamps and other things, and the prices are not too much more than the big box stores. I've had them test my batteries, and I thought the staff did a competent job. read more

I won't go into the long, boring details of what brought me here (AGAIN!). Suffice it to say, their first two diagnosis for the reason my battery was going down over and over, were wrong. The third time I went, after a 3rd visit from AAA, the guy told me that there must be a drain on the battery from some unknown cause. I asked him to get the manager, who did a second test and told me what I knew already.l My battery was BAD! The manager told the guy who was "helping", to put in a new battery, which he did. What he DIDN'T do, was tighten the second post tightly. Almost not at all !! And, of course, after two days it had worked it's way looser and wouldn't start the car. Missed doctors appointment, another AAA visit, and another visit to Interstate to tell of my experience. He apologized. Thanks. No, I won't name names...just verify, check, recheck all their work.
