    Original roadside burger
    Leslie G.

Not often in PB and have been wanting to try. Got the chance yesterday. Wasn't super hungry yet wasn't wasting opportunity. I went with a single patty original roadside burger. Immediately took it down in the car. I'm in love and wished I had bought two!! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Fresh ingredients and that bun! I'll be back and soon. Maybe a downtown location...hint hint

Irv's Burgers in Pacific Beach delivered exactly what a burger lover hopes for a burger, fries, and shake combo done at a seriously high level. The BFS combo (I made that up) were a fantastic trio and really felt like the perfect combination for a laid-back beach day meal. Even though my go-to these days is a simple cheeseburger with basic toppings, Irv's "press the meat and cheese together" style absolutely worked here and made every bite rich, melty, and satisfying. For anyone who loves a straightforward cheeseburger but still wants something a little extra, this style lands right in that sweet spot without feeling overdone. The gentleman who helped me at the counter was awesome...friendly, attentive, and on top of everything from taking orders to running the shake machine. It honestly looked like he might have been working solo, and if that's true, he was handling it like a total pro while still turning out a damn good burger. That kind of only-hands on deck hustle energy added to the experience and made the visit feel less like a quick stop and more like a neighborhood burger joint you want to cheer on and come back to (which I will when in the area again).

Funny enough I got a hot dog and their fries. Both were honestly really good and we got lucky to find a spot inside to eat our food as it was a rainy day. I give it a 4 as the worker taking orders was pretty rude to everyone. She was short with temper and constantly got heated with the tone of her voice. Most of the time she would realize she was wrong and just short tempered. Besides that it was a good spot to finally check out.

Cowabunga, Sandwich Squad! Captain 619 Back with the Deets on Irve's Legendary BLT! Where's the beef?! WHO CARES--when Irve's is slingin' a BLT stacked heavier than a winter swell! Head to PB for this meat-lover's dream, where the vibes are salty and the bacon is crispy enough to snap like a clean bottom turn. Shoutout to Richard, the maestro behind the counter (not just a GM, but a flavor conductor ), who orchestrated our feast. Dude wasn't manning the grill, but he commanded that counter like Hendrix on a Strat--smooth, precise, and full of stoke. First act: Strawberry Shake, thicc and juiced-up like a ripe summer berry. No half-steppin' here--just pure fruity bliss. Then, Richard hooked us with a Chocolate Shake on the side, loaded with whipped cream, Oreo, cookies,, and a dash of "heck yeah!" But the headliner? THE BLT. My queen tried to riot--"Get that damn thing off the menu!"--but one bite of this bad boy and she was silent. Layers of bacon thicker than a longboard, fresh lettuce, tomato with a snap, and toast so buttery it's basically a hug. MEAT. HEAVY. This ain't your grandma's tea sandwich--it's a carnivore's anthem, perfectly balanced by those shakes (sweet + savory = ). Richard turned lunch into a symphony--dude's got PB passion in his veins. Five stars, a shaka, and a vow to return before the next tide rolls in. Final Take: Skip the beef. Ride the BLT wave at Irve's. Richard's your captain now--let him steer. (...and an extra bacon emoji because obviously.) Stay salty my friends!!!

In a word, Horrible. See the photos, they did not even melt the cheese on the cheeseburger. The burger was bland and tasteless, I honestly expected more. No grilled onions and the bun is not toasted. Jack-in-the-Box, is much better for $8.88.

Visited 12/18/2024 Well thought this was going to be just another burger place but was wrong. Great place just up the street from Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach. Nice menu of their specialty Burgers and Sandwiches and Much more. Special ground Meat mixture for all burgers. House made Dipping and sandwich Sauces. Hand Made Super Creamy Shakes. Very Much Worth a Visit.

Definitely one of the best burger spots in town. Willing to drive from East County to the beach for one of these bad boys. Parking isn't that great, but that's usually the case in the beach neighborhoods but who doesn't like to look good little walk before you get a really awesome meal?! there's a small dining room and there's also some outside dining area. I've always received excellent customer service, and you can tell the cooks are passionate about the food because it comes out consistently delicious every time. Definitely recommend!!

Definitely one of the best burgers in the area. Always fresh and tasty. My 12 yr old is a connoisseur of local burgers and is always talking about this one. I agree too.

    Chili cheese fries!

Adam and the rest of the crew at Irv's in PB were AMAZING!! We had a staycation and ate here a couple times because we loved it so much. Hooked it up with the yummiest chili cheese fries. Loved the sauce on the burgers. Orange Creamsicle float and Root Beer Floats were also super delicious. Fun atmosphere and excellent service. We will definitely be back!

Average food Nothing stood out It was decent, not good or bad. Chili cheese fries were the best thing. Fries are average and burger is better than your average burger but didn't stand out. Service is good. Everyone was welcoming and polite. Decent amount of seating.

    Original roadside single Burger. Good
    Angela H.

Average Burger place. For one combo and one single roadside Burger it was $30. So I don't really love the prices. As for the food we got the best menu Burger which is a Smashburger and it was just okay. I love a good Smashburger and I probably will not go here and order this again. The cheese fries we're good. That's actually probably my favorite part of the meal. The service was decent. The two guys working at the counter were very friendly and helpful with the menu. However wait time for the food was rather slow. They said it'll be 7 minutes and it ended up being about 16 minutes. There is parking In the lot or on the street but it is pay parking as they've meters on the street and you have to pay to park in the lot period if you go over a block on a side street then it is free to park but know that it's by the beach so Place gets packed. I live nearby so I just walked. It is mostly outdoor seating which we had no problem finding a table. I saw there also was a dining area inside but I did not go inside to see how much seating is in there.

Irv's Burgers is an LA area import that was established 78 years ago. The business has inherited one of the stalls at the Mission + Garnet Food Hall in PB. Along with a famous out-of-state pizza chain, they are now the anchor tenants to the facility with a rotating sign on the southwest corner advertising their presence. One stall has been converted to a sit-down dining area where customers can enjoy their food/drink on-site. Burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, sides, floats, and milkshakes were the main categories. I chose one of the four burgers and one of the two hot dogs for my meal. Best Burger on "The Menu" was a pressed to order double 1/4 pound patty with American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and Irv's sauce on a toasted sesame seed bun. The best part of this item was the crispy edges to the meat from being smashed on the flat top grill. Irv's Dog was an all-beef Hebrew National frank served on a buttered and toasted bun. It was very plain and underwhelming for $5. I didn't encounter any service issues or a significant wait for my food. The staff seemed efficient and pleasant. If I were to return for another visit, then it would be to try one of the floats or shakes and not a homemade chocolate chip cookie priced at $5.50. Four stars for the Best Burger on "The Menu" and two stars for the Irv's Dog equals an overall three star rating for Irv's Burgers.

I've heard comparisons of this place to a local favorite: THE FRIENDLY so we decided to try it. It takes over the mission + garnet food hall next to Prince st Pizza. Parking is a little tough but anywhere in PB is tough. We ordered the "best burger on the menu" and the original burger subbed with grilled onions. The "best burger" is VERY SIMILAR to the friendly's but maybe a tad bigger and fancier bun. I have a little more bias to the friendly as it was my first smash burger but I liked that this bun didn't get soggy. It's also in a more convenient location if I were to bar hop around PB. The original burger was good but mid(?) it's not bad, just your average joe burger. I liked that it didn't make me feel heavy / meat sweats compared to a regular plain smash burger though. Service is pretty fast as well with mustard and ketchup self serve on the side. Food was ready in about 10 minutes.

First off, if you're in San Diego, this should be your only must-visit. I rarely go back to places I've already reviewed, but Hodads is a MUST, non-negotiable!!! The dining room is not fancy and looks like a teenager's bedroom with stickers and license plates adorning the walls. While the burger speaks for itself, whether you get the mini, reg, or double, the patties are thick, juicy, with fresh veggies and a soft, sweet bun to soak up those juices. This goes for the onion rings too, that don't seem to come out of the dryer in a bag. At the end of the day, the service was fast and friendly and carried the ocean vibe a Cali burger joint should have. I even picked up my Hodads T-shirt to probably advertise on my travels! My only question and curiosity is in the fries. I'm not a fan of wedges, and I feel like my last visit, they were thick-seasoned traditional fries. Pros: I got the half-pound burger with fries and it was really good overall. The burger was super juicy, well-cooked, and had that classic hearty, satisfying taste you want from a solid burger spot. The portion size was generous, especially with the half-pound patty, and the fries were a great side to round out the meal. The location in Pacific Beach is also a big plus. It's in a great area with lots going on, so it's easy to grab food and walk around afterward or make it part of a beach day. The overall vibe of the spot feels casual and fitting for PB--nothing overly fancy, just good comfort food done right. Cons: Since it's in a busy beach area, parking and crowds can be a bit of a challenge depending on the time you go. It's more of a casual grab-and-go or quick dine-in spot, so don't expect a sit-down restaurant experience with a lot of space or quiet seating. During peak beach hours, it can also get pretty busy. Verdict: Overall, Rocky's Burgers is a great spot in Pacific Beach if you're craving a juicy, satisfying burger in a fun beachside area. The half-pound burger and fries hit the spot, and it's a solid choice for a casual meal before or after hanging out in PB.
