    Avocado Chicken Sandwich
    Robert M.

For the first time I chose to eat Lunch at Island Cafe. I ordered the Avocado Chicken Sandwich. It comes on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayo and cheese. The onion and pickle is served on the side. The sandwich is loaded with avocado wedges and the chicken is juicy and delicious. I chose fries for my side dish. They were served piping hot and crunchy outside and soft inside. The wait staff were polite and helpful, as always, always pleasant to talk with.

My food was actually good, but the reason for the one star is due to the lack of customer service our waiter provided. The cafe wasn't busy either, maybe 4 or 5 other customers inside, but Cristian chose to blatantly ignore us on numerous occasions. There was a gentlemen sitting next to us and anytime he requested the server he came running. When we would try to get his attention he would walk right by us. I asked for straws and water for my daughter and never received it. Never checked on us to ensure we were okay along with our food, which is very showed poor customer service.

Delicious seafood omelette with lots of shrimp. Quick and simple order and service. Great choice for breakfast.

Came here for a "second chance" attempt. This time the service was terrible and the food was "ok" at best. Won't be going back.

So we came back the next morning hoping for a repeat performance and they did not disappoint. Once again, delicious food and great service.

I had their fish and chips and they are fantastic. The service was great and the prices are reasonable.

Best dinner coffee you will find in oak harbor. The food is great and service is fast. But the coffee is what keeps me coming back.

Always busy during breakfast hours. My kids love the mickey mouse pancakes! Even when busy, our service has always been great!

Great place to take the family out for breakfast. Typically will have a slight wait but it's well worth it.

There is always a little line for breakfast but they are fast and friendly, like a great diner.

The service is good...but nothing to "write home to mother about"! Not many choices for breakfast in Oak Harbor.

Over priced and generic. Ate here once, ordered simple breakfast food. Felt like I paid for something McDonald's could have done better.

A great place for coffee or dinner. The clam chowder and fish and chips are delicious. You can't go wrong with the chorizo and eggs either

Probably the best place to get breakfast in Oak Harbor. I usually get the huevos rancheros and it always does the trick.

There is some street parking, but we ended up parking in a public parking lot north of the cafe. The place is cute and charming, and it's decorated with art that is for sale. The menu on the wall was just for drinks, and their food menu was laminated nearby for us to peruse. We had a nice chat with JJ (who I think is the co-owner), and he was very bubbly and nice. It was fun to witness his kindness to other customers and neighbors as they came in. This place seems very involved with the community. There are a few tables both outside and inside. The TV behind us was playing Pandora for radio music. Nearby, they had some free chocolate-covered coffee beans and your own water and silverware station. I got an Arnold Palmer, and boy, was it tart! I got my own sugar to try to sweeten it up. I also ate the Ricky Ricardo panini, and it wasn't my favorite. The aioli wasn't flavorful enough for me to notice, or maybe it was missing, and the pickles were too thick. I didn't love the flavor profile on this sandwich, and it was pretty hot (in temperature) to eat, so I had to let it cool down a bit. Connor loved his smoked salmon toast! There were a ton of capers, so lots of salt there. The herbed cream cheese was the star of the show, with the flavorful toast being a close second. He really appreciated it. I think I'd be happy to come back and try a different sandwich.
