I took my family to marathon to escape COVID. Our first restaurant was Island Fish Co. We were thrilled with service and all the seafood we love. Over the three weeks we tried many places and most were good but our last night we wanted to end with our fav, Island Fish. The food was great as usual but tonight we had a guy that was edgy rude from onset. We ordered stone crab and drinks. The waiter came back for rest of order and I explained we needed more time but please bring soup. He said no, he'd get that with our main order. Odd to be told no but ok. We get all our food and he never comes back. We finish our meal hoping for more drinks and desert while watching him chit chat with a table not far away. Never giving us even a looks at us. While he has plenty of time for them to simply talk. I appreciate servers so much and all the staff especially during COVID. This guy hurts this restaurant and the rest of the staff. I don't give bad reviews but this guy deserves it. He's terrible while the food is great. If you go,tell them you don't want the blonde guy with a European accent in black socks that has a horrible attitude and zero sense of customer service. I wish I had his name but the hostess and management seemed to be very aware and not surprised by my terrible visit. read more

We stopped in mostly just to check it out. We had a few different appetizers between us, but the conch fritters were my favorite. The place is quite large and can get a little noisy, but still has the island feel. The views are so relaxing! We will try to stop in next time for a meal (or maybe just to enjoy the view again). read more

Favorite place on the key - went here three times during our 6-day stay in Key Colony Beach. Views are great, staff is pleasant, bathrooms were clean, decor was thoughtful and festive, food was tasty, drinks were worth it. Highly recommend! read more

Good place, large, open and airy. Picnic table seating mostly outside. Definitely a tourist type of restaurant with all the same fare you'd expect on the menu. Service was efficient but our waitress lacked any personality ( was simply going through the motions). Good was prompt and tasty but nothing to write home about. All the talk about the views are dead on. Great open floor plan with waterside tables. Service was flawless and the facility was very clean. Prices we very reasonable and portions were excellent. Tourist trap of high prices with flavorless food. Ate twice there only because other places are even worse, except lazy days restaurant which tops all other choices. At fish co., we sent back the mushy shrimp, waiter placed all the food on opposite side of table next to hubby without asking who ordered what. The runners bringing out the food are emotionless and untrained to serve food. Water front tables are okay. They will serve you from a plastic cup hooch is poor Presentstion and doesn't float my boat for a $9 or $10 punch drink. My spinach sald the next night had rotten mushrooms, wilted spinach, not fresh. They do not know what is healthy fresh vegetable here. You will get what the cooks are throwing on the plates, nothing more, nothing less. Expect to pay a lot. Conch fritters were the only thing good we had here out of 2 tries. I would guess they don't make their key lime pie in house either because there aren't any chefs here, only cooks. read more

I never realized that hundreds of people can be served so confidently. My wife had the fish tacos, our friends ordered a steak and taco meal as well. I had the linguine with clam sauce. The service was timely, friendly, and extremely well done. The food was good, not great but all in all was a value. One suggestion I have for you is to make sure you get here really early or you better be ready for a wait. The view is exceptional and the prices are reasonable. The portions are quite adequate. Buffalo shrimp was amazing, so this started out pretty good. Lobster egg rolls were also tasty. It started to go down hill on the French dip, very bland soggy bottom bread, ajus was not seasoned meat rubbery. Service was good, atmosphere good with a water view picture perfect. read more

Stopped in for breakfast. Shrimp and Grits were very good, nice-n-cheesy! The wife ordered a bacon and spinach omelette. The omelette was cooked to perfection. Atmosphere is awesome. The island vibe was great. Our server Brian was outstanding, we give him five stars for his professionalism. Thanks Brian!! If you are looking for that rustic Keys atmosphere with excellent service, great food at a dockside location this is it. Flip food and tea shirts are the dress code so check your suit at the door. There is a constant sea breeze coming through the restaurant not too loud music and TVs playing in the background. Family friendly and fisherman friendly. Guess this place did not like the cut of our jibs. We were seated at a perfect table right by the water that we waited for and then completely ignored by two different servers for over 20 minutes as we stared them in the eyes vying for their attention. They were not terribly busy as they only were helping 1 table a piece in the section. Since they did not want to make eye contact or acknowledge our existence we packed up our dignity and left undetected since I assume we now posses the powers invisibility. On the way out we told the hostess who had seated us and was a very sweet girl, she was sincerely apologetic, but alas as you could guess, we will not be coming back for round 2. read more

We came here twice on a three-day visit to the Keys. The service is fast and friendly and the views are beautiful over the water. We watched the sunset and took some gorgeous photos on the dock. We had a few different kinds of fresh fish and they were excellent. We also liked the fish tacos and the key lime pie. They have it fried, but that sounds crazy and we didn't get it. The bartender obviously did not want to be working tonight and was more concerned with cleaning up 70 minutes prior to closing than seeing if the customers needed another drink or anything else. Key west peel and eat shrimp, have much better. Some of the shrimp tasted fishy and old. Shrimp po boy was terrible. Don't like seeing some brown tinged lettuce ok there. And really , 6 Lomé shrimp. The bartender did say it was a lot of bread and she was right. Even the fries were blah. Major tourist trap and I should have known better when we walked in. I love eating here everything it's so fresh and delicious. I love how they put banana peppers to the calamari. I moved to marathon two years ago and have gone to almost every restaurant in town, and this one is at the top of all. Everytime I go I have never been disappointed. One of the things that u must have it's the oyster shots it's amazing plus you get a souvenir shot glass. If your in the Keys this is a must!!! read more

On the way back up north, staying a night at Marathon. Looking for good seafood again, checked with my friend Mrs. Yelp and she guided me to this place. In one word, Fantastic! Awesome seafood, location, and ambiance. We started with a couple of nice frozen drinks (Key Lime Colada, Raspberry Margarita), followed by awesome Buffalo Shrimp & Fish Dip, to be chased by Seafood Lover Pasta, Key West Shrimp Diavlo Pasta, and Fish and Chips. Lobster bisque was unmemorable. Hogfish was nicely cooked but didn't care for the way they seasoned it. I ordered the pan seared version but suspect I was served the francaise as it had a strange egg flavor to it. Buddy ordered dolphin sandwich and it was pretty thin on meat. Older crowd and families on a Saturday night, yet very loud ambiance. $145 for three people with one round of drinks, which is in line with the tourist trap theme they have going on. I like the variety of food they have on the menu and the fried key lime pie and key lime pina colada is excellent. I ordered the seafood bisque which came out cold and the potatoes were still raw. I sent it back and the server came back and said ok we tested it and your right the potatoes were hard so we will take it off your bill. Thought that was strange especially since I sent back a full bowl. The shrimp quesadillas were awesome and had so much shrimp in them. As most of the restaurants on the islands service is an issue. This place was so good that we visited it on the way to Key West AND on the way back home! Their drinks, food and service are top notch and the perfect way to kick off your island hopping weekend. I enjoyed their Key Lime colada--a fine mixture of frothy sweetness with a nice little kick of liquor to finish. It's like getting a buzz from a piece key lime pie. Their conch fritters are crunchy, fresh and delicious--and their seafood entrees can't be beat. It took awhile for anyone to notice us after we were seated. When we got a server he was a very nice guy and did a wonderful job. The food was not great though. The little neck clams were slimy and grouper was dry and rubbery. We left hungry given we didn't eat all of our food because it wasn't good. The ginger ale was really great though! read more

This place has a lot of good reviews, so I decided to give it a try, although I was worried it was a tourist trap but came anyway because of good reviews. Maybe it's a good lunch place for the sandwiches and appetizers. We came for dinner, my mother in law ordered cessar salad which was soggy. I had yellow tail snapper francaise. Mine was terrible, the meal had no flavor and the lemon butter wine sauce was just not there. The meal was totally dry. We also had the she crab soup that had the consistency of oatmeal.
