I really love Islands, always have. The customer service is always nice and they take care of your table very well when you are there. I have been really enjoying the Lite Turkey burger with broccoli and carrots while my son ends up with the kids meal that I hijack a few fries from. I always expect a turkey burger to be dry and boring but at Islands they are so delicious it keeps me coming back. Not too bad, I think it's $11 total but when you come and just hang out with the family it makes it worth it. Another really nice feature is if you come here with a few friends you can head out to the back to a really nice fire pit table that adds a really nice, comfy feel to your experience. Islands is a chain restaurant but this particular location is quite great. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and quick. The food comes out at the right time as well (not too fast and not too slow). Usual order is to start off with either the spinach artichoke dip. This time around, ordered the dip and onion rings. As always, the spinach dip was scrumptious--presented with the dip and a complimentary salsa dip to throw in some contrast to the rich, creamy dip. My go-to burger here is either the Maui (gauc burger) or Hulu (sautéed mushroom burger). This time I opted for the Impossible burger, which is amazing (and I accidentally said "medium" - but it basically tastes medium and like real meat!) and has a nice garlic aioli sauce spread. The Hawaiian burger (pineapple and teriyaki sauce) was also solid. You get unlimited fries with your order! The food is standard but what sets this location apart from the rest is the staff, which makes the dining experience all-the-more great. On Mondays, there is a $5 off your $25+ bill. I starved all day just to sit down to some calories at Islands because let me tell you --it's a LOT. Is it worth it? I say yes. My favorite item on the menu is the Kilauea, which is one of the beefiest burgers there. The pepper-encrusted patty is so juicy with a good kick to it, and the Island Reds (deep fried onions) are such an amazingly crunchy complement to the melty burger (which is cooked medium). The burger is huge so I usually end up eating about half to about 3/4 of it. My family and I shared the ghost pepper fries, but the burger was spicier than the ghost pepper dipping sauce. Still, it had great flavor but we also asked for a side of ranch and I enjoyed the fries with the ranch more. I've had some drinks here in the past, and I definitely recommend their strawberry daiquiri. Service was good, but our waitress seemed to keep forgetting what we just told her (I later realized she just repeats them wrong because she got all our orders right). The restaurant is conveniently located in the areas surrounding the heart of the Cerritos Towne Center. Extra brownie points for being so close to Bath & Body Works (one of my favorite retailers). read more

Ordered tortilla soup and ceasars salad and its good value for your money. Filling and tasty. It doesn't come with a drink, though. Service there is great and friendly. If ordering takeout just make sure to check the order to make sure nothing is missed. read more

We've been to this location a few times and never had an issue. Upon walking in the hostess, looked very serious.No smile and grumpy attitude, did not look happy to be there. Bummer. We went there tonight for dinner, let's just say that the service was not what we expected. While half of the food did taste good, the other half was not what we expected. Ordered chips and guacamole for appetizer and the chips were old and stale, taste gross. I ordered a small "side" salad, oh boy! Out came my "side Caesar salad" 4 croutons, some pieces were brown, wilted romaine. Only three pieces of salad got Caesar dressing on it. I would had never served anything as such! The service was...well, okay, just okay. Not sure what's up with the night crew but no one smiles. Out of touch with the customers. Again, I've been here a few times, only it was lunch. The bill came I didn't care to look at it, just paid and left. When I got home I did notice that we got overcharged. The kids meals came with drinks and we were charged $7.70 for two kids drinks and $7.75 for the most saddest looking side salad ever, when it should of been an add on to my meal. I'm no cheapskate, but it's the principle of the matter. Will we return, perhaps? But never again at night. read more

If you're on the fence about the Impossible Burger, don't be. I'm here to tell you it's better than you think. I'm not a vegetarian by any means, however, I've always wanted to try the Impossible Burger to satisfy my curiosity. The bun has a slight crisp to it. The patty by itself, although it does taste non-meaty, if you just eat the burger with all the fixings, you wouldn't even be able to tell it wasn't meat. Islands has done something good here. They have some decent hamburgers. I specifically enjoyed the Hawaiian one. We ordered the Hawaiian and the Kilauea. The Kilauea was ok. Too many spices. On the other hand the Hawaiian was juicy and had the right amount of flavor. Dont get me wrong. I am completely frustrated. I've never experienced this ever in my freaking life. I ordered to pickup and got there before the order should've been ready. When I got there the lady said my order wasn't ready. She didn't even ask what I ordered or allow me to pay. They were a bit busy so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited for her to call my name. I waited literally 40 FREAKING MINS for two burgers and a side of fries. I decided to check back in and tried to pay while I waited. She said "did you want to order something?" Like what the frick. And guess what. The bag that I saw when I originally came was the bag she gave me. It was ready when I got there and the employee failed to ask and check if my food was ready. Haven't been to an Islands in over 5 to 7 years....I forgot one opened here...but during Covid times trying to catch up with my buddy it was the place to go....outdoor seating...very clean ... service was good and efficient you can pay on your phone which was cool....server was great....they are missing my favorite Veggie Taco I used to get so i got a Maui Burger with Veggie Patty no Mayo...but realized if you look at my pics they did'nt give me the tomato...but heck if I didn't realize it when i was eating and they are really generous in the amount of Guacamole they give if you see the pics....i'll take Guac over Tomato anytime!!!! read more

Let's start off by walking inside, you'll be greeted by...No one ...for at least 5 mins, I mean sure there's a girl behind the bar that sees you, but she doesn't bother to say hi. So you wait around for a few more minutes until 1 of the 5 workers you've spotted so far, comes to greet you - but you're there for a pickup order - so he directs you to the "takeout window" that's hidden on the side and doesn't have a sign to direct or advertise they're "over here". Now that you've picked up your food and gotten home - you unbox you're meals and wow look at that - no seasoning on the soggy fries- can't wait to try those! Take a bite of your burger- which smelled fantastic in the car btw - but as you pull away and take a look at the damage you see that your delicious smelling burger is actually undercooked and you're staring at a pretty rare patty when you could've sworn you asked for medium well - well shoot, isn't that disappointing! Overall DON'T wasted your time. I came here last year oct/nov and experienced horrible service as well. My friends and I were sitting in the fairly empty bar area and it still took a good 15-20 mins for ANYONE to come over and even acknowledge us. What a shame because I used to love island's - now I doubt I'll ever be back. read more
