My favorite place for KFC, and I'm not talking about the Colonel's secret recipe. Bunker 21 I think in the Cerritos, Artesia Norwalk area, is the best for your money Korean Fried Chicken. From wings, whole or half chicken options, fries, tteokbokki and many other Korean style entrees, this place is great for dinner and if you want late night, they are open until 11:30pm nightly. These late night restaurants are great Korean hangouts for drinking, eating, and hanging out with friends to catch up or maybe watch some sports. Not that they are like a sports bar, they do occasionally show different sporting events especially now with the FIFA World Cup going on. What is great is they also give you complimentary cabbage with a spicy Mayo based sauce and some pickled radish. Service is great here. I typically don't dine in since I usually take my food home to enjoy, but today was a little different. I stopped by a bit later than usual and was surprised that there weren't too many people dining in. There were only three other groups, which honestly made the experience even better for me. There did seem to be a few pickup orders coming through, though, so you know they stay busy and everything is fresh. For the menu, you scan a QR code at the table to browse everything, and once you're ready, they come by to take your order. They actually had a few options that weren't available for takeout, so I guess there are some perks to dining in. We ended up ordering one of the dine-in combos: 12 wings + tteokbokki. For the wing flavors, we chose the lemon pepper and soy umami. The wings came out super crispy, hot, and heavily seasoned. You could really taste both flavors distinctly. The lemon pepper had a nice citrusy pepper kick, while the soy umami was extra saucy with a strong savory soy flavor. Honestly, it feels like the wings are absolutely coated in seasoning when you dine in. The tteokbokki was also delicious. The rice cakes were super chewy and bouncy, which paired really well with the wings. Dare I say, the tteokbokki sauce even worked well as a sauce for the wings too. I came here on Christmas Eve. Another restaurant I wanted to go to was closed but this place was open. It's next to Holo's coffee which I go to all the time, but it looks closed almost every time I go there. I was surprised it was open, so I decided to give this restaurant a try. Reviews said fried chicken is a must-try so we got the lemon pepper! WOW it was good. So crispy and flavorful on the outside. The inside was moist and piping hot! Spicy french fries had a nice crispiness to it too. I'm guessing it's whatever oil they use to make these two things so good. We got a pork bowl that I thought was kind of mid--I'd skip it next time I come back. Might have just found my new neighborhood Korean fried chicken spot. We order here a few times a year. Most recent called in an order and just beware, you are REQUIRED to make all sandwiches a combo. I wanted to place 3 sandwiches plus some B21 fries but wasn't allowed to unless I made the chicken sandwiches a combo. Needless to say I didn't place my order and went somewhere else. I understand inflation and it's getting crazy keeping up with the increase of minimum wage but it's not fair to require purchasing a combo when I don't want any fries or drink. We started with corn cheese and tokpoki. For our mains we got the sweet and spicy and garlic yoghurt parmesan wings. They offer you a complimentary cabbage salad. Cabbage Salad- Fresh and crisp with a sweet and tangy dressing that awakens your taste buds. Corn Cheese- Such a lovely blend of sweet corn and gooey, creamy cheese. They have a good ratio of each ingredient and it was the perfect balance. Tokpoki- Rice cakes were nice and chewy. The sauce is flavorful with just the right amount of kick. They offer a wide range of items on the menu - draft mango cart beer, fries, tteokbokki, and kimchi fried rice, which are all bomb too. Each chicken order usually comes with cabbage salad and radish. Met with a friend around 6 pm on a Saturday. The place was bustling & had an inviting atmosphere. Ordered kimchee fried rice and Tekboki. We were gonna order the corn cheese but the waiter told us the larger kimchee fried rice comes with corn cheese so didn't order it separately. (There's a smaller, cup size kimchee fried rice). Food was good and with the corn cheese included, the price of $28+ made sense. The place was lively and more customers came in as the night wore on. I got a dozen of their "hot and crispy" wings, which are twice fried, crispy chicken wings with a moderately spicy dry rub. It's crispy, well seasoned, and had nice heat! To pair with the salty, savory chicken wings, I had an ice-cold beer, complimentary pickled radishes, their crispy fries, and corn cheese that was served with very melty mozzarella. Corn cheese is a very simple dish as it's basically canned corn and mozzarella, but when the cheese is bubbling and has browned edges, it's as good as those ingredients can be. The totality of these dishes were exactly what I needed after this long work week. Honestly, a local gem in the area! Great spot for Korean fried chicken, with a fun pub/sports-bar type of vibe - but with kpop music videos playing all around. The chicken is cooked well with pretty good flavor and crunch. The sides are all so good. We usually get at least one order of fries, but on our last visit we also ordered the seafood pancake which was such a hit! We love that they offer both regular and sweet potato fries! We've also tried their other dishes like the chicken rice bowl which didn't really stand out to us - we stick to the fried chicken and fries. The service has always been pretty consistent, even when they get busy. They check in a few times, but otherwise will largely leave you and your party to enjoy your meal. Despite being in a strip plaza with other eateries, we've never had a difficult time finding parking.
