We ordered chicken wings and soup. The wings were outstanding and made perfectly crunchy and flavorful. The ranch is a little watery but still tasty. Soup was fantastic with cheesy goodness in every chicken tortilla bite. The burgers and chicken sandwiches were made perfectly with just the right amount of sauce and fixings. Food was great. Server was wonderful and very attentive. But the hostess was not happy when we came in at 8:55 P.M. and told us that they close at 9:30 P.M. and we had to sit at the bar. When I questioned her about it she then seated us at a table but said we had to order quickly. We always go there when we need to eat a little later but we felt rushed and had to wolf down our food to get out by 9:30 P.M. Even the table across from us mentioned that they turned off the music and TV's at 9:30. So if a restaurant advertises that they close at 9:30 P.M. does that mean they want everyone out by that time? I posted a review and it went to the Pine Ave location. It was meant for the Seal Beach location. Trying to fix it now Went out on Wednesday night to my birthday and have some good food and drinks! We were served by Meaghan and she was fabulous!!! Very attentive and helpful. With a wonderful attitude even thought the restaurant was swamped. The place was packed because it was dinner time, just before 6:30 pm. Our food was fresh and delicious and everything came put just as we wanted. I celebrated my birthday with a slice of Kona Pie. This time around we were disappointed. In the past, we've enjoyed their burgers and salads. I can't say that now. It's become more expensive and their menu has changed with slightly fewer items. Our server tonight didn't seem like she was in a hurry. I've heard of the laid back tropical attitude, but she took it literally. Her section was not completely full either. On top of that, we had to ask her to refill our water whereas other servers in other places are attentive to that. Even more so on top of that, she left our empty water cups on the table. It was getting crowded on there. The food- my wife ordered the Kaanapali Salad and noted that the portion size is smaller than it used to be. I ordered the Kilauea Burger and wanted to be adventurous and try it with the impossible patty. It was just ok. I did notice that the amount of black pepper was overpowering. Our group of 4 came into this Islands this afternoon after shopping nearby. We were greeted when we came in and had to wait about twenty minutes before being seated, which was fine. Once we were brought to our table, our waitress, Sierra, came and asked if she could get us some drinks. My husband asked about happy hour because the main hostess mentioned it when we checked in, but it turns out that it is only in the bar area. That was disappointing. We put in our order for waters and a beer and waited. Another person brought the drinks to us and we had to wait for Sierra to come back and take food orders. While we ordered, we all got the sense that she didn't really want to be there. It made us feel like we were inconveniences to her. This feeling was only solidified when she came back to the table and instead of setting the plates down nicely in front of us, bangs them onto the table, just slapping them down. She also passed me my salad plate with the serrated knife right where my hand was supposed to grab the plate, which made me nervous I might cut myself. Instead of asking if we needed anything else, we had to ask for condiments. Sierra didn't come back during our meal to ask how things were, she only came back once to clear a plate of which she didn't ask if we were ready for her to take it or if there was more she could take. She came back once we got her attention to ask for a box. When she came back with the box, she had the check with the check holder INSIDE the box. So many people touch those holders- the last place I wanted it was in my box I was going to put food in. My husband got up to go get me a new one. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what, but as a waitress, you shouldn't make your tables feel like they are a problem when they're just trying to have lunch. I give two stars due to the service being poor, and my husbands food making him feel sick. I personally would not come back to this location. read more

Every time we go to Islands we see Bri & she smiles, comes by to say hi and gives us amazing service. We used to sit in the bar all the time. We had an issue with 1 of the servers & Bri came to us & said "please come sit in my section. I'll take care of you & give you Happy Hour prices if you want". The service was horrible. We walked i, waited a few min to get seated, no one came to take our order for another 10-15 minutes. After getting our order, we needed to flag down 2 differential waitresses, still hadn't received even water. When we asked another waitress if we could get water our server finally came back to our table asking if something was wrong, that she was asked to come over to us.. She said rudely we were not her only customer. And when we said the water smelled and tasted like it came from the sewer the waitress responded sorry it ALWAYS TASTES BAD HERE....I would not patronize this restaurant until they figure some things out. Menu cuts! Bad sign . Our first hint that things were bad was when hubby noticed they no longer provided coasters. I thought it was trivial, but...My salad was not the same as in the past. It was covered with extra large Chinese noodles to cover the lack of chicken and salad. His burger plate was ok, but they didn't have the option of the delicious wheat bun. They no longer serve truffle fries. Another bad sign. Then we got the bill and that was awful. 92.00 for an appetizer of fries, a beer, a margarita, a burger and a salad. Adios Islands. Fries and onion rings are very good. Fish tacos are a great choice. 5 stars are not for the food rather the service. We tend to notice (and review on) lack of service, especially with staffing shortages. When you go out to eat, you know tp expect slow sevice. Our experience yesterday was quite the opposite and it was a holiday durin the busy lunch hour! From the hostest to the server and others that brought us food and drinks, excellent service. Smiles on their faces. Very attentive. Suggesting new items. Making sure our drinks were refilled. We felt like we were at a expensive restaurant! Made us feel special!
