I love Island's Chicken Tortilla soup and always get the "all you can eat" as the cup is ridiculously small. I decided to order the soup to go as I did not have the time to sit and eat. We have come to Islands in seal Beach many times. This visit was on 4/29/2022 for dinner. Islands has great food, drink and dessert menus. I feel like they have something for everyone. You can get a burger, salad, tacos or even sometime g on the lighter side. They also have cocktails, and a good selection of beer. To top it off they have a great dessert menu. The service is usually pretty good and the servers are usually pretty friendly. We enjoy Islands because the food is good and we feel like there is a little bit of something for everyone. They also have ample parking and they don't usually have to much of a wait time. Every once In a while you might get a 10 to 15 minute wait but it's not often. They also except Apple Pay. read more

Islands is your standard burger/sandwich restaurant with a Hawaiian twist. They have a large list of specialty burgers, wraps, chicken sandwiches, salads, Vegan options, and entrees for those watching calories! They can lettuce wrap any of their burgers as well, which is a plus. When it comes to burger spot fries, they are one of the best! The Seal Beach location is usually always busy, so expect service to be a bit on the slower end. It took some time to place our order, and I did have to stop another waiter to get some refills for our table (as we were all empty half way thru our meal). Ordered from "Tortilla Beach by Islands" under this address on Uber Eats and am very disappointed. I ordered a carne asada burrito and it came smaller than the size of my hand. I paid $25 fully expecting a decent looking burrito but opened the box to see a tiny one. I also paid an extra $3 for some guacamole but got a container the size of a sauce cup. The guac also tasted old and had looked like it was sitting out for a while. The food did taste pretty good, hence why I am giving this place a 2 stars rather than 1. My roommate and I were able to catch happy hour before it ended to share some appetizers and drink specials. Both Brett and Jordan gave impeccable service through-our the duration of our entire time spent dining here. They came with a side and we selected fries, only to find about 2/3 cup of 1-1 1/2 inch pieces of fries. I have come to realize I will just have to take it as I get it here at Islands no matter the location. I ordered the wings and the Malibu burger medium rare with pink. The wings were pretty plump and tasty with a generous smothering of Buffalo hot sauce. The burger however was prepared "well done" and without a hint of pink. No matter to that. I was hungry and didn't want the hassle of waiting for another burger. The kind and friendly staff wanted to make it better but I was both hungry and on a tight schedule. We sat at a high top in the bar area and the service from the bartender was pretty bad (had to ask the hostess for help getting drink refills and dressing for salads). However, the more disturbing part was the manager (middle age male with a little pony tail) kept coming over to see his girlfriend/wife, also seated at a high top table, and continuously make out with her. Came in today at 12:45 for lunch. Lots of empty tables and there were only two groups ahead of us. Fifteen minutes past and no one is getting seated. Talked to a server and she said the kitchen was backed up so they are taking their time seating people. Such a stupid business practice. People opted to go to the bar, which was encouraged. Not sure how that was any different than seating people. People are going to order food from the bar. No manager on duty. We come here a lot, but decided to walk out. Note to General a Manager: it's better to seat customers and tell customers that you're running behind. Serve them drinks and maybe offer customers 50% off some chips and salsa. Parking is plentiful in a large lot in the shopping center. We arrived for dinner around six pm, and were seated quickly. Our server was nice, but didn't bother to say her name, or suggest a brew to pair with the burger. Seemed like this was just a job to her. My Lagunitas IPA was delivered quickly by someone else and our server was back to take our order. Our slider and burgers were tasty and arrived quickly, and a supervisor checked on us more than once. The hostess was super friendly, so I had a good feeling. Short lived. Our food came pretty promptly. The menu clearly states burgers are cooked medium (pink), unfortunately my Bleunami burger was overcooked and dry with no flavor at all. The bleu cheese dressing was hardley apparent and there were no bleu cheese crumbles at all. I even double checked the menu to make sure I read it right. No silverware, had to wait to catch the attention of someone, who was not our server. Our server walked past four separate times without asking if we needed anything - a drink refill would have been nice- I finally had to flag him down on his fourth lap. Coming here, I was very surprised to see all of their dishes came out larger than I thought, but came out tasting very delicious. I was stoked to see that we could substitute with their impossible patty, and definitely had to try it, especially during this Lent season! For any vegetarians, this is the spot for you! Love Islands! We had not been to islands in a few weeks so we were looking forward this Fridays visit (3/4/2022). Except for maybe the onion rings, all the other food was cold....and I mean cold! My 4 year olds Mac n cheese was lukewarm warm. As we stirred the Mac n cheese , clumps were cold (as if it just came out of the fridge). We returned the fries and got "warmer" fries but cold again by the time our cold burgers came i out. Very disappointing! Maybe not a big deal (maybe seemed a bigger deal than it actually was since we already disappointed with the quality of food) but there was a worker (waitress? ) coming around (came by 4 TIMES)) asking to collect empty plates while we are in the middle of our meal AND with food on our plates! I was very puzzle about this. Not sure if the restaurant was short on plates. Hopefully they will get their act together. If staffing is the issue, maybe they should consider limiting to capacity that their current staff can properly accommodate. read more

After a long drive over from Vegas we stopped in for a late lunch. We were greeted by happy wait staff- and we even transitioned wait staff between shifts. The first waiter introduced the waitress taking over. The burgers are amazing- well cooked, nicely seasoned, and great toppings. We had the Hawaiian, the Hula, and the Longboarder. Excellent! We have been going to Islands, Seal Beach for years. Our schedules changes so we hadnt been for a while, but it was my wife's birthday, so we decided on a Sunday afternoon to go again. What a joke this place has become. When we walked in the Red head at the podium was on the phone giving a dissertation of some sort with someone, and another woman walked by and said someone would be right with us. They werent. After a good 5 minutes, the same woman finally asked us if we were just 2 of us. Genius, right!? We were there long enough for others to show, but did not. She walked us to the table without saying a word other than someone else would be right with us. We grabbed out own menus, and after a while a woman came by and asked us if we wanted something to drink. We gave our order and she asked us if we were ready to order. Nothing about questions that we might have, but I asked and she said what I wanted they didnt have even though the HB store had them a couple weeks ago. We gave our order, and after a while a kid delivered our order. They gave us 2 napkins, and not one waiter or waitress came near our section. The red head "hostess" walked by with a group to seat them and when my wife asked her (because she was the only employee we had seen) about the napkins, the woman waved her off like she was bothering her!! Later, she came by and dropped them on the table. Not until we were finished did the original waitress come by and ask if we needed anything or if our order was okay. It was my wifes birthday and I wanted to tell someone, but there was no one to tell and I certainly didnt want to give this place any more business. My wife wanted to tell the hostess 'thanks for making what would have been a nice birthday dinner, not worth our time, but it was clear the staff could care less. Normally when we have left Islands restaurants, there was someone thanking us for coming and opening the door, and the "hostess" thanking us as well. NONE of the latter happened. We will NOT be going to this location EVER in the future. Lots of places are closing these days and I feel bad, but I truly hope this place does, now. In the past, we have gotten to know some of the employees/students who worked there, and provided large tips to them, but they deserved the accolades as well. I didnt see one person working hard at this place now. If I could put negative stars, I would. This place is not worth the time even for this review, but the experience was the worst ever we have had at this restaurant. I normally love Islands' fries. But this time I got the "nubs": the small scraps of potatoes that are cooked to a hard crunchy-crisp. I had a couple dozen of these nubs amongst my normal fries. Really, they shouldn't have come out of the kitchen and been served like that. A 3-star experience plus a bonus hostess star. ***Update July 2015*** On a return visit my server was Asya, the same young woman who was such a great hostess on my earlier visit and now promoted.
