Situated in a dimly lit mall, the atmosphere around it feels rather grim and gloomy. When it comes to burgers, this spot stands out as one of the better options, packed with umami flavors that delight the palate. The prices are very reasonable. If it had a bar and a more central location, I can easily see it thriving instead of serving just one customer every two hours.

We had the It Char Burger. It was delicious! Soooo good! The grill flavour, the onions, the bacon....so tasty. The service was quick and friendly. Hard to believe it's just ' food court' style seating as the burgers were sit down restaurant worthy. Will definitely come again

Genuinely blown away by how good this burger was. It felt even more unexpected because of its appearance--a random corner stall in a quiet, rundown mall. The it char burger I got came freshly made, which meant I had to wait 10 minutes, but it was worth it. Juicy patties, perfectly melty cheese, soft bun. I think it might the best burger I've had in the Lower Mainland. No seating, just some tables around the mall, but at $13 for this hefty burger, I can't complain about anything else! Can't wait to come back and try their fries.

Burger place inside Royal Square mall. Parking is available in front. Be sure not to park in the nearest row, as that row is only good for 30 minutes. The other rows are good for 2h. Wasn't sure what to expect. I think the owners are Korean. The mom is friendly and chatty. I had the spicy IT Char burger with garlic fries ($2 extra). The burger was solid but wasn't spicy at all. I think they simply forgot. Pretty solid burger. The garlic fries are sprinkled with parmesan and I think bits of butter. Came with this tasty (garlic?) yellow dip. Food is a bit pricey but it's quite filling. This place also serves Korean food. Will be back sometime to try.

This is still the place I go to when I have a craving for a good burger. I have found my favorite burger here -- Spicy BBQ. It comes with caramelized onions and serrano pepper. I usually get the combo as I love the fries -- crispy to the end. As usual, prices have also gone up but not as high as other places, so this is still relatively affordable at around $11-12 for a combo. Another item I like from here is the bulgogi beef rice. I usually get this to go. I like how they pack it with foil inside the box. It helps to retain the heat and keep the juices in. The portion is huge and it can make 2 meals for me if I am not super hungry. The owners (a couple) are also very friendly and I have seen them bring the food out to some elderly customers who may have difficulty walking over to pick up the food when ready. Thumbs up for the kind hearts.

I've seen It Char Burger pop-up on my Yelp search for burgers -- it has always piqued my curiosity and I've always wanted to try it but haven't found the time to drive to New West. Luckily, I wanted to buy some things at Sally Beauty and upon entering the parking lot, I saw a sign for It Char and it dawned on me that this was in the same complex! Yay! They were about to close for the day and I'm glad that they still took my to-go order: BBQ burger, cheeseburger and fries. The owners(?) were really nice and accommodating and my order came out promptly. Prices were really great! It was less than $17 for two burgers, fries and a pop. Seating is available inside the strip mall too if you plan to eat your burgers there. Hubby and I had half of each burger so we can try both flavours. The BBQ burger was simple but yummy-- burger patty topped with caramelized onions, bbq sauce and mayo. I was glad it wasn't an overpowering bbq sauce. The cheeseburger had that nostalgic cheeseburger feeling and it tasted delicious! The fries were good too, chunky fries that's crispy outside and soft potato inside -- a bit greasy though. Overall, definitely enjoyed It Char and I look forward to trying more of their offerings soon.

Just finished my exam and my boyfriend took me here to celebrate. I always wanted to try this place but somehow only remember to suggest it on Sundays which is the only day they are closed. So this Thursday afternoon we decided today's the day. I ordered their IT char burger which comes with fries. The burger itself comes with double patties, tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, bacon, cheese, and caramelized onion. The burger was well seasoned and was delicious, much better than any burger joint in the lower mainland and you know they made everything to order because it was fresh. My favorite part though was their fries. Those were the best fries I've ever had. Double fried, well seasoned, and plentiful. I am hooked. $12.49 for the combo. My boyfriend got the double spicy Korean burger which came with 2 patties, lettuce and spicy Korean sauce he said the burger was really good too, a good basic burger with what I can only assume gochujang based sauce. $7.49 His burger didn't come with fries so he ordered a medium order of fries for $5.99, again he loved the fries too. Overall, this place trumps a lot of other burger joints. The menu is simple, freshly made, and well seasoned throughout and I think you get quite a bit for the price. Skip the McDonald's, Five Guys, Red Robins and come here to support local business instead. Worth every penny my boyfriend spent ;)

Where's the beef? This burger is reminiscent of McDonalds kids meal. Fries? Decent garlic fries. But the burger??? I don't get it. I wanted a burger with bbq sauce. The option was their "bbq burger" with caramelized onions. I felt like raw onions today. Not an available option... so want you see is what I got. UNIMPRESSED... Just get the fries folks.

They reopened again but there are no more combos. Fries and drink are extra now. Super disappointed

Well, I've read it numerous times and I finally get to exclaim, IT Char Burger is amaaazing! Picked up take away for the fam, 3 hot dogs, one cheese burger combo and one IT Char burger for the hubs. My cheese burger was exactly the right amount of charred burger patty, fixings and oh man, the fries were as tasty as chips from a London chip shop after a big night out. Mowed! Will definitely be back when there's a hankering!

Signature It Char burger. It looks smaller in this photo it's actually huge.

Finally made it to It Char! Since I don't live in the area I had to wait until I was doing a Sally's Beauty Supply run to come here. It did not disappoint! Had the signature It Char burger, wow it was very filling with two patty's. The fries are homemade and taste amazing. Next time I will try another smaller burger so I can upgrade to garlic fries. I tried to upgrade my It Char burger with garlic fries but she suggested I go with another burger instead but since it was my first time visiting I had to try their signature, still not upset the regular fries are great. Definitely recommend if you are in the area, it's even worth a special trip.

    I loved this homestyle cheeseburger!

Nice lil family run burger joint in Royal Square Mall at McBride & 8th Ave. I am discovering all these little gems in New West as I recently started working there. My friend said they have the best garlic fries but my favourite is the cheeseburger. You can tell it's hand-formed made fresh. The garlic Parmesan fries were sooo deadly, yum! They give you a generous portion. I couldn't even eat them all but my boyfriend was happy for the leftovers. Next time I go back I think I'll order two burgers LOL

Every time I checked, it was closed -- and I never had the chance to visit until recently. I finally went for the first time, and it was absolutely worth the wait. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, and the service felt warm and genuine. The food was delicious, and the overall atmosphere made a wonderful first impression. I enjoyed it so much that I went back the very next day and brought my son with me so he could experience it too. Both visits were equally pleasant. The staff's kindness, professionalism, and welcoming attitude make you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again -- not just for the food, but for the people who make the experience memorable.

It was clean and bright and we got a nice seat by the window. Our server was quick to say hello and take our drink order. I'm always impressed with the breadth of the menu here. I landed on the Seafood Yummy Hash, and hubby had the Big breakfast, again. Coffee and water came first, and we were both delighted at how good the coffee was. Most diner style restaurants have a very burnt tasting coffee but this was very smooth. Off to a good start! Food came out very quickly and looked amazing. Both dishes were beautifully plated, and the fruit on the big breakfast was not a typical canned special. Things took a turn at the first bite though. Taste 10/10, but our food was cold. Like cold, cold which was surprising given the restaurant was mostly empty, and it came out so quick. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and very obviously in-house made, but both of our potatoes were quite literally cold, with some of the baby potatoes being hard in the middle still. The sourdough was also stale, but not just stale in taste, it was almost like it had been toasted well in advance and then plated. The review on the big breakfast remains the same as last time. Sausage was amazing, but the bacon and the ham left something to be desired. The server took some time to return back to our table and check in on us. When she did I told her our food was cold. She just kind of made a face, said oooooh, apologized, and that was it. She also had to be reminded to refill our coffees a second time after asking. The last shock came with the bill. While the prices overall were reasonable for very large servings of food, two black coffees came to $11. I know we raved about them at the beginning of the review, but not sure they were $11 good. Really wanted to love it, but not sure it lived up to expectations this time.

We waited about 20-25 mins to get our order. It was a longer than usual wait but we didn't mind because our food was fresh and delicious. Food is a little pricey but we think it's worth it. We ordered deep fried pork hock, which was delicious. Portion is smaller compared to comparator Filipino restaurants but nonetheless it is packed with flavour. I am not a huge fan of the sauces that accompany the dish. The beef in peanut sauce was delicious! It's rich, creamy and a generous portion. Anything that's tossed in a rich peanut sauce really gets my tastebud dancing! We ordered 2 bowls of rice, I didn't appreciate $9 for 2 bowls of rice but oh well.... Excellent service, the lovely guy with the long hair was friendly and welcoming. He answered all our questions and was very polite. We paid $80 for 2 dishes, rice and a 15% tip. We'd like to try their buffet so will need to plan for that sometime this year, hopefully.

The buffet was reasonably priced so we'll likely come back to try other dishes. The halo-halo we ordered was from their ala carte menu, so we paid for this separately. They have a band on the weekends which adds to the ambiance of this place. Definitely come here if you want to have a great time!
