LOVE this place! We always come here before going to shows at the Neptune. We always get the pork bulgogi, fries with gravy, and takoyaki. It is always so delicious! The service is pretty good, very very friendly, but we've had some below average cocktails here. We orders some old fashioneds here once and the cocktail we received was watered down bourbon with maraschino cherry and an orange slice muddled at the bottom. Also I watched the bartender shake the cocktail for quite some time. I probably should have said something, but we still drank them down. One word: wow. I've tried a string of disappointing new restaurants in the area lately, so this was a nice surprise. I didn't want good food; I wanted GREAT, and this place satisfied that requirement. The katsu was crispy on the outside but not tough in texture, the teriyaki was tender and spot-on for what I expect good teriyaki to be. The entree dinner portion is huge, but we still struggled to polish off our plates because it was just That Good (and unfortunately, taking the leftovers home was not a viable option for us.) The menu is full of delicious staples, plenty of great dishes to satisfy a group. The ambience is cozy and pleasant, and the service was plenty friendly. My drink was refilled long before I got to the bottom of it. The location is off the main drag, but still very close to the Ave. And considering the value of the food I got here, it beats almost any of the places on it. I'll definitely be back. read more

Too slow bad service. Took them forever to come over to order our food. But the wait and having to get up so many times for box,check, and paid our bill.It wasn't even busy. I live 223 miles away and I've lost track of how many times I've eaten here. Once, I practiced portion control and actually managed to bring home leftovers. I came here last night with some girlfriends and had a fantastic meal! Prompt, hot and delicious, we ordered the spicy pork bulgogi: piping hot sitting atop a bed of onions; mochiko chicken: super tender and the breading was light and airy; loco moco: a giant freshly made hamburger pattie, two eggs, rice and smothered in brown gravy; and their dessert waffle: two made-from-scratch waffles with a heaping face full of vanilla ice cream (no exaggerations, a lot a lot of ice cream) and all the fixings. Loved this place. The food was delicious and portions plentiful (gotta love bulgogi). The space is super sleek and well designed. The music was awesome (got a soft spot for J Dilla and RJD2). This place is so close and delicious, I feel like Im cheating whenever i dine here. I wouldnt have thought that such a randomly located and small place would have such great food. The portions here are HUGE, HUGGGGGEEEEE, leftovers for DAYYYYSSSSSS. I didnt care much for the loco moco, but the teriyaki, katsu, and mochiko chicken are all good options!i want to try the takoyaki one day as well. Itadakimasu is a taste of Hawaii. Since moving to Seattle from Hawaii for college, I've missed Hawaii's food so much but Itadakimasu tastes just like home. My favorites so far have been the chicken katsu curry and the mochiko chicken. The regular plates are big enough to be 2 meals if I'm trying to be good. Haha their salad dressing is also really good and sometimes I buy a bottle from them. read more

I'm happy to see this place still in business! I say that because when I lived nearby for a couple years, I saw this location change restaurants at least twice. Itadakimasu is casual, clean (restaurant + bathroom), dark but modern interior, with friendly staff. Love that they play Hawaiian music, and there's also a TV if you or kiddos gotta be entertained. I've only gotten loco moco the couple of times I've been here -- I have a hard time passing that up -- and it's so good here! And the portions are HUGE, so what's nice is that they offer smaller portions. They've also got a bar inside, so that's a nice twist. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in the area to try other dishes. If you like Hawaiian food, check this place out! read more

Over the years I have seen this location transition to many types of restaurants. Last night was the first time I have step foot in this awesome establishment run by Mike Chang the owner. I was here for a business meeting and I pretty much let my client do all the ordering since it was my first time here. They ordered Poke Tuna, Shrimp Tempura, Fries over gravy as appetizers then came the main dishes of Mochi Chicken, Beef Bulgolgi, Chicken and Beef Teriyaki, and Curry Chicken. Of all the food ordered I was not prepared to see the hefty portions on each dish and I got a good fill of all the dishes with quite a bit left over. Every dish I tasted was amazing in taste and the way the meat was cooked where it wasn't dry or undercooked but it was a nice texture of both chicken and beef. I am extremely thankful for my client to pay for dinner and wish all my clients had meetings at restaurants :p I highly recommend checking out this hole in the wall restaurant in the UW area and trying the dishes I have listed and explore the other dishes as well. I will be coming back here soon and try their dessert.....yeah thats how full I was with the amount of food that was served I had no room for dessert. Happy Eats everyone!! read more

I ordered the veggie stir fry with tofu to-go. It was 85% onion and sprouts. I had to hunt for any zucchini, broccoli or mushrooms. Super disappointed. The flavor was good though, just wish there had been more real veggies and not a bunch of onion filler. Service and ambience were decent. read more

What a cute little restaurant! The ambiance is adorable and I love the Hawaiian music in the background. My friend and I took forever to find this place since we thought it was on the Ave but we were wrong! The portions are HUGE! We ordered one appetizer (CHICKEN MOCHIKO) and two chicken and gyoza dishes with a side of French fries for each of us and it came to total of only $29.04! We had to take several boxes to go cause we barely finished the apps itself and the chicken teriyaki was simply delicious. There was the chicken fat which I liked. Some places keep the skin and all the junk and I hate it. The teriyaki sauce compliments the chicken and it's amazing. Definitely coming back to try the chicken katsu next! Service was amazing! This restaurant earns a 4-Star from me STRICTLY based on their homemade Miso Dressing. I had the salad as one of my sides for my Spicy Pork Bulgogi dish and it was to-die-for! At that point, all I wanted was more salad just so I could have more of the dressing. I asked the waitress what kind of dressing it was and that's when she explained to me that it was a "home-made Miso dressing." My boyfriend tried it and was quite fond of it too and followed with, "Can we bottle that up and take it home?" Just thinking about it now, I want to go back there specifically for the dressing! So yummy! Well, their portions are pretty generous and flavor for the Spicy Pork Bulgogi was okay. I wanted to like it more but it just didn't do a dance number on my tongue like the Miso Dressing did. Boyfriend's Teriyaki, although great portion as well, lacked flavor. The place is cozy but hip. They have a full bar and unfortunately, I didn't get to try any of their mixed drinks. They have a drink menu, which I'll probably try the next time I come here. Service was great. The young lady who served us was quite attentive and very sweet. It wasn't too busy when we were there. However, a large group came shortly and service remained good. It came in a pretty light, garlicky sauce. My friend had the teriyaki chicken, which was also good and probably required the lives of at least two chickens. Highly recommended! I will not let the lack of private parking or the somewhat-overly loud music distract me from a very strong four star rating. My visit was at 6 o'clock on a weekday when the university was out on winter break, so the ambience was calm (despite the music not being quite my taste), with only two or three other tables of patrons--I recognize that a weekday lunch during school could be quite different. The server was gracious and accommodating and took care of all of our needs throughout the meal. The appetizer of ten potstickers was awesome, and although my salad had water in the bottom of the bowl and not quite enough dressing, the entrées well made up for it. I ordered chicken katsu and curry on rice, which was totally fabulous and enough portion to take home half, and my wife ordered beef teriyaki and tempura combo, which had an awesome steak-style cut. Overall, I would give the food at least 4 1/2 stars, although you will be paying for the higher than average quality and quantity, but this is better than just a "fancy" teriyaki restaurant--it is a legitimately nice place, and I'm glad I went there for an anniversary dinner. read more

RIDICULOUSLY GIANT PORTIONS. Portions so big that they would feed 3 people and then you could have some for brunch. It's basically bar + bar food somewhere between Korean and Hawaiian. Open pretty late. Service is very friendly but sometimes a little sparse (one person really, I think). I can't judge the alcohol (alas) but if I ever want to be so stuffed I'll waddle home, this is the place. Pros: Friendly wait staff. Televisions that aren't too intrusive. Food is reasonably decent. Did I mention enough portions to kill an elephant. Fries are wonderful for no explicable reason. Specials in particular are incredibly good value as a result. Not too crowded. Cons: A little small. Brooklyn always makes me a little bit nervous given that it's somewhere between scudsy and gentrified. Relatively limited selection of food. These are all small dings, really. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic!! The atmosphere is classy (love the purple lights and the cherry blossom mural) and the food is even more delicious! Not your average run-down college joint but for the same price. You get giant portions...definitely enough for two meals. The staff never stops moving and are always friendly. Can't wait to come back. If you need a place to take a girl on a date without having it dent your wallet, this is most definitely the place to go. ME and my coworker both loved it here! but ever since the prices wen't up ( So much!!!) compared what they use to be. 13 bucks for beef teriyaki 11 bucks for chicken teriyaki these dishes used to be 10 for beef and 8 for chicken there ribs were 15 at the time... but is now 20! lunch is almost 20 bucks per person. ( including tax and tip) that's why it's 1 star we both were angry! and pissed off! due too the 13 ish % increase! on the prices. we both finally agreed.... that we will not return! Second time trying this place out. Unfortunately, I went on the day that the blackout occurred. Because my friends and I already ordered our food, we decided to wait a little while to see if the electricity would come back on. It didn't. But the chef was nice enough to still cook our food IN THE DARK! ok it wasn't that dark cuz it was only around 6pm. But he was still able to cook our food for us :) Staff is also pretty friendly. Prices are a little high though. I paid around $14 for my garlic shrimp plate. o.o read more
